One Dress a Day Challenge
September: Bond Films
Casino Royale (2006) / Eva Green as Vesper Lynd
Continuing with the five primary modes of Bond Girl chic, the third item on the list is evening wear. We've already had a taste of that with Sylvia Trench. Vesper Lynd's backless purple gown from Casino Royale is perhaps the most iconic evening dress of the Daniel Craig era. The plunging neckline and gathered material in the bodice make me think of Marilyn Monroe's famous gold dress, while the long lines echo the 1930s by way of the 1970s. The sparkly edging to the neck is meant to be attention-grabbing, and it is. The dress is finished with a matching wrap and clutch purse.
Like many dresses that appear deep purple onscreen, it appears considerably lighter and closer to raspberry-pink when seen offscreen. Compare this dress for another example of the same phenomenon.

Dress by Self-portrait
This dress screams Kate to me, and I would love to see her wear more purple in general.

May: Purple Redux
Little Shop of Horrors / Tichina Arnold as Crystal, Tisha Campbell as Chiffon, and Michelle Weeks as Ronette
Crystal, Chiffon, and Ronette serve as the "Greek chorus" for this movie, wearing an array of classic 1960s chic outfits. Here they have matching lavender sheath dresses with high, ribbed waistbands, lilac gloves, and multi-strand pearl necklaces.
To highlight the fact that their commentary takes place in another dimension, so to speak, we also see these characters briefly as they appear in the "real world":

Dress by Jenny Packham
I’m not generally a fan of Jenny Packham’s cocktail dresses, but I really love this one. The only thing that I would change is the belt. I’d lose the bow and go with a plain satin ribbon.
Available here.
