“These were the very people he’d played with during childhood.”
“Oh, to be seven again, in a happy pile with his friends.”
“They’d played as babies, been at birthday parties, stood on ration lines, attended classes together.”
“The day had cemented the mentor bond in a brand-new way. They were members of a special club that would dwindle down to one but always define them all.”

Ya know I just headcanon the people of the Capitol to be on the shorter side
I’m from an area where everyone’s just tall (women are like 5’8-5’11 generally, men like 5’11-6’8 or taller— not everyone is 6’8 btw just enough where it’s like ???)
So it would be even funnier to me if Coriolanus was just short and Sejanus being just tall pissed him off even if no else is remotely as tall as Sejanus. He’s over here like “I should be that tall” but it’s just not the truth 😭

TBOSAS where the thing that fixes the pain and suffering is the Capitol’s cruelty. Because I love positive irony like that.
Somehow, the zoo enclosure where the kids are kept is destroyed. Since it’s so unbearably hot in the books say something caught on fire and the tributes were taken out of the enclosure because there won’t be any games if all of them are dead. This conveniently sidesteps Brandy’s death because it happens either just before or right after she stabbed Arachne. If she did kill her bitch of a mentor the fire was so beautifully times that all evidence of her little crime was destroyed and nobody knows it was her. How convenient. One could almost say it’s divine intervention. Now, the kids need to be kept somewhere, and the zoo was sooooo annoying for the mentors, so the tributes are put in cages around the city. Near the academy so those poor oppressed rich kids who aren’t about to die don’t have to suffer even more for traveling 10 minutes to see the vile district scum. This… backfires horribly for the Capitol. See, the tributes are separated. For the sake of this story they’re all in separate cages on their own.
How does this lead to a fix-it? Well, it’s now much harder to not interact with the tributes. You don’t have to go to the zoo to see them, and you won’t have to pay money either. The tributes can’t hide in the enclosure, so everyone can see the discomfort plain on their faces as they try to cling to some kind of privacy. The cages have one side agains some kind of structure, so seeing these kids ducked agains the one solid part of their cage is very hard hitting because it’s impossible to ignore what they’re going through now. Even the biggest tributes look small, all alone and helpless.
And then the mentors get involved, and things really kick into high gear. All the tributes like Sejanus, and at first people thought it’s because he’s district. Now they can see it’s because he’s actually nice to them. The nicer mentors are trying their best to help their tributes, and the less amazing ones receive a bit of a cold shoulder. Several fights between different pairs of mentors and tributes happen, and all of them color in the kids’ perspective of everything in a way that’s undeniable. I feel like a big part of why the Capitol citizens had so little empathy is because they refused to see things from the tributes’ perspective due to not seeing them as people. But when massive crowds witness these arguments, it’s hard not to. When all you see is a figure deep in the enclosure and a face on a screen it’s easy to chalk their anger up to some irrational grudge or just vile beasts being their vile beastly selves without thinking about it too much. It’s a lot harder to do that when you have Facet screaming at Livia for treating him like a disposable object and shirking all her duties as a mentor, such as providing his basic needs, while pretending she’s done jack shit for him. When the citizens hear the raw emotion in his voice, it’s very difficult to not feel even the slightest bit of empathy.
And when they watched Lamina cry on a screen, it was easy to laugh at her for being so weak. But when this young girl is sobbing right in front of you, and you can see the pain on her face? Suddenly it’s a whole lot less funny. Even more so when she calls Pup over and ignores the food he offers her in favor of asking about her district partner. The crowd can’t ignore what they’re putting these kids through when they watch a clearly starving girl only accept food when she’s reassured a boy that has to die for her to live is being fed. When Lucy Gray sings for food it feels like the beggars in the city until she asks her mentor to bring more than half of what she got to Jessup and whichever tributes have gotten the least that day. And when all the tributes keep asking about each other with clear and obvious worry, even for the tributes from other districts who they’ve only known for days, suddenly the people find themselves stuck with the unescapable notion that these are kids who are being forced to perform like circus animals, who are about to be forced to kill each other, yet still find it in themselves to show empathy. It’s especially inescapable when the tough, strong tributes who everyone expects to be vicious are the ones doing this. Reaper and Coral for Dill and Mizzen, of course, but even more impactfully Marcus for Sabyn. Two of the stronger tributes showing concern for one another, despite neither having that underdog or innocent air the younger tributes have.
At one point, Treech is performing for a crowd and some of the mentors pass by, including Vipsania. As soon as they approach he stops what he’s doing and retreats to the one solid side of his cage. Vipsania calls for him, and he utterly ignores her existence. All he dignifies her with is a hateful glare. Then Pup comes into his line of sight, and he shoots up immediately to ask whether Lamina’s okay. It’s only when Vipsania gets huffy about this that Treech actually acknowledged and responds to her. Not nicely though. Rather, he goes “now why ever would I not want to talk to you? It’s not like you starved me so I’d perform or anything. Gosh, it’s such a mystery!” Before turning back around intending to sit down. Vipsania tries to defend herself and it goes about as well as you may expect. By which I mean, a one-sided screaming match ensues. More like Treech giving into the urge to start ranting and raving about all the shit he’s been through while finally telling Vipsania how he feels about her treating him like a toy to use and discard once he’s no longer of use to her. When she says she just wants to help him now, he reminds her that her “help” so far has come down to actively making his life harder for her own benefit. “You’ve done enough, Sickle. Go back to your prissy princess palace and leave me alone.” Very similar to Facet when he finally gave Cardew a piece of his mind, actually.
And slowly people start giving the tributes food, even when they’re not performing. Slowly they start to change their minds about the games, and once the interviews happen they finally realize all these kids have families and friends waiting for them in the districts. And only one of them gets to go home. But… they’ve seen how sweet these kids are to those that don’t treat them like shit. And honestly, nobody really wants to see them die anymore. And they realize if they don’t act now it’ll be too late. So they act. And long story short the games are finally stopped for good.

i am literally going to be thinking about former emo-girl Clemensia Dovecote for the rest of my life. since you said you want to be bothered with questions i have to ask if you have any other fun (or not fun) headcanons about the mentors?
omg you're so welcome?? no b/c that was off the top of my head 😭
here are some other hcs i cooked up (some made by my moots) that I've practically considered canon!!! i added them into my wattpad fics (but i WILL transfer over to my boba shop au on ao3 that I'm planning atm)
clemmie's notes MUST be written in red pen!!! it's her color!!
felix uses a bunch of big words without understanding the meaning of them (it was a little strange that he called the lamb "scandalous"-- we took that and RAN)
dennis fling is into photography!!! idk it just felt right while writing one of my wp fics--
vipsania plays the harp (she just seems like a musical prodigy that specializes in "old timey" instruments)
pup's into nicknames and pet names. he's got something for everyone, which is why he doesn't mind "pup" no matter how silly it sounds!! (plus, calling lamina "my girl"?? he's ADORABLE)
i somehow associate io with the color purple, so that's her favorite color now.
festus was described as being burlier, so if the academy had some sort of sports extracurriculars, he'd take up wrestling!!
hilarius is a mama's boy. SHE picked those reaping shorts out. HE can't say no to her.
that's all I can think of off the top of my head 🤭 thanks for letting me ramble... this was so fun <3

i’ve had the idea for a snowjanus fic in my mind recently. basically pliny sr (pup’s dad) and strabo plinth are negotiating an arranged marriage between their sons, because strabo thinks it will help his family assimilate into the capitol and be less ostracised and harrington sr really wants that munitions business because he wants to expand past the navy or something. they haven’t actually solidified anything and are still in the process of working it out and deciding whether or not it’s something they should do, and pliny sr asks pup to talk to sejanus to test the waters if you will. this is the first pup hears about the idea and sejanus currently has no clue about it.
so pup reluctantly asks coriolanus if he can introduce them, and snow is actually fuming over it but he doesn’t show it and tells him it’d probably be better if pup went up to sejanus himself. the plan is that he does it tomorrow, and snow would tell sejanus about it today so he didn’t freak out when pup randomly starts talking possible marriage to him. he’s mostly trying to buy time to sort himself out and push down his feelings. he talks to sejanus about it, silently seething and vindicated when sejanus doesn’t seem all that happy about the idea. they brainstorm ways to get out of it and come up with nothing, so they say goodbye and prepare to meet tomorrow.
there are two ways this goes: one, things don’t go well but none of the three know how to convince the adults not to go through with it. coriolanus is actually going insane and is constantly at the end of his fuse from what he refuses to call jealousy but definitely is, and comes up with the desperate brilliant idea to try and convince strabo not to wed his son off to the harringtons by dating sejanus instead, because if he really wants an in with the capitol, snow’s the way to go. he justifies this because of the plinth fortune and (if we’re going by movie canon) will probably help get him the plinth prize. two, coriolanus has no idea how it goes until pup storms over to him and complains about him ‘keeping secrets’ and ‘why didn’t you just tell me you he was taken?’ and ‘that was so embarrassing why not just say he’s your boyfriend?’. snow is so confused and pup walks away, and when corio and sejanus talk later sej apologises, explaining that he panicked and said it couldn’t work because he was already dating someone. unfortunately, as the only person who talks to him willingly is coriolanus, it was very easy for pup to draw the conclusion that snowjanus real. coriolanus decides that the best course of action is to roll with it, at least until there’s no more chance of the adults going through with the engagement. this is definitely 100% so he can use sejanus for money and get more snacks from his ma not at all because he wants to date him no sir.
either way they’re both fake dating now and have to deal with the epic highs and lows of rich kid highschool as well as the backlash from their classmates. snow is still desperately clinging onto his ‘hatred’ of sejanus by pretending his feelings for sejanus have absolutely nothing to do with the situation, whilst also warring against his pure rage at pup. pup has done nothing and is pretty glad the marriage didn’t work out but you can bet that snow will never get over it because he’s a possessive bastard. classic fake dating shenanigans ensue, as well as the ‘i love them but they can only love me as an act’ angst, requited love but it takes snow a long, long, long time to admit that. would probably be pre-tbosas because it’s harder to think about this occurring alongside the 10th games.

conversations over tea (VI)
previous part
Clemensia has always known that she’d marry one day. It’s what was expected of her. A duty that she would rather fulfill on her own terms before her parents arrange a match on her behalf.
And that time was slowly dwindling as her father’s fondness for her had only granted her a few more years once she’d graduated university. Eventually instead of arranging prospective suitors for her and phrasing them as suggestions, her family might choose to simply name one of them as her future husband.
`
During Pup’s last return to the Capitol, the two of them had commiserated over their impending fate – it was time to take matters into their own hands.
In short, it was an alliance with a friend who understood her in ways that others could not. He wouldn’t demand things from her that she had little interest in, and vice versa.
And to their quiet relief, when they announce their decision the next time Pup is back in the Capitol, both their families had taken the news well.
`
A long engagement would have been preferable – had it been feasible  – but it wasn’t, so they had to settle for other things. Like how Pup wanted to wait until he was a Rear Admiral, but it wasn’t very realistic. That could take decades and none of their families would have been that lenient. Such was proven over a luncheon with their parents. So they settled on waiting till he was made a Captain. A far more feasible goal for their families to wait.
Because marriage was full of compromises, or that was what people said, was it not?
`
Neither Pup nor her were in any rush to marry, not when they knew that their families next question would simply be about children.
While children are what is expected of them, this is one area where they weren’t quite so keen on adhering to. Because he had little interest in sex, while Clemensia supposed it depended on the person in question. They are content to remain childless.
Nevertheless if they ever change their mind, there are ways to have children without overlooking their preferences regarding sex. Or as Pup suggests, they’ll adopt.
~~~~~
Part of being engaged includes announcing that one was engaged. In the back of her mind, Clemensia complained that Pup had lucked out with having to return to District 4 to patrol the waters. He was lucky to not have to be stuck picking out flower arrangements and tablecloth colours.
When they eventually planned their wedding, she'd make him suffer the same boredom she was enduring right now for their engagement party. This, she thinks, is what she will write in her next letter to him.
`
Staring at the pile of invitations that she needed to send out, she looked over the list of names one more time.
What are the rules of friendship in this scenario? Was Coriolanus and her close enough to offer him an invite? Though unsure, Clemensia supposed she might as well. The worst he can do is decline.
So without further ado, she added his name to the end of the list.
Waving a maid over, she handed over the final guest list and asked them to fetch her another cup of tea.
~~~~~
She doesn’t get a reply from Coriolanus, at least not one by mail. Instead, he brings up the topic on Saturday. Clemensia had more or less expected it, especially with how he’d been glancing at the sapphire ring gracing her hand.
`
“You’re engaged.” At her continued silence, all he adds is, “It seems sudden.”
Clemensia opted to sip at her tea instead.
“With his work, you’d only see him a handful of times a year in the Capitol.”
Another sip of tea. “There’s nothing against me visiting him,” she points out. In fact, she was rather looking forward to Pup’s next visit to the Capitol as he’d promised to take her with him to 4 for a brief trip.
He rolled his eyes. “You would hate it. The constant smell of the sea and the churning waves.”
“Maybe. Maybe not.”
`
He seemed more curious about her relationship than she’d have thought.
“You’re awfully blasé about – wait,” His eyes narrowed. “Clem, do you even want to get married to him?”
Surprised by the question, all she could do was stare at him.
“Clem?” A hint of worry tinged his expression. “Clemensia?”
Right. She was supposed to answer him. “Yes?”
`
The look he gave her told her that she wasn’t very convincing.
“People can get married for many reasons,” she tries.
“Like?”
`
“Tax benefits?” As soon as that left her mouth, Clemensia berated herself for it. Really? Was that the best she could come up with?
“I’m not sure that you’re supposed to be admitting that to me,” he says dryly.
“Oops. Give me a moment, I’ll come up with something better.”
Incredulous, he adds, “You don’t even love him and you’re marrying him?”
“You and I know that not all marriages in our circles are matched out of love.”
`
His mouth twists ever so slightly at her comment. “But are you happy with it?”
“I think I would be, yes.” Why was he so persistent on this?
He shakes his head at that. “I don’t want you to be unhappy,” he says finally.
Oh. Had he thought that she might have been forced into the match? Was that why he was acting like this? It …it was rather sweet.

Debating on if I want to add my other OCs into the mix... Decisions decisions, I suppose.
Also, I didn't say this, a little bird did, but there's a Tallulah gangbang scenario coming out soon. I mean whaaaat?

Time Loop AU for TBOSAS that snowballs into a Fix-It! And the person stuck in the time loop is Pliny “Pup” Harrington!
Now, this time loop isn’t one day. It’s not a few hours. It is the moment the tributes were dumped in the zoo to the moment the games end. Pup goes to bed after the victor is sent home and wakes up the day the tributes arrive. As we all know Pup started to care for Lamina and he was upset when she died. So of course he decides to try everything to have her win. Again and again and again he fails to save her, and he hates that the Capitol is allowing this, but he doesn’t yet understand the truth of the games. Because he’s still Capitol, and he doesn’t get it until the second to last loop.
This entire time he’s been obsessed with getting Lamina to survive, in any way he can. Giving her advice and sending drones at times she died the last time so she’ll survive just a bit longer. When his meddling causes Lamina to let Treech win on several occasions, he starts hating the boy from seven for “causing” her death. It doesn’t occur to him that what caused her death was completely out of the tributes’ control. It was the Capitol. And Lamina doesn’t want Treech to die, no matter how hard Pup tries to push them apart. When it becomes clear that approach causes Lamina to die faster he stops. And finally, after hundreds of loops, he succeeds! Sure, Lamina was upset about having to watch Treech die right in front of her, but she’s alive. She’ll get over it. All that matters is that she won! Except…
When he goes to see her, Lamina is sobbing harder than ever before. She’s inconsolable with grief and trauma. When Pup tries to comfort her, his words just seem to make it worse, until a comment about Treech makes her snap as she yells for the first time since he’s known her. She screams about how he’s heartless, how unbelievably cruel he is for even suggesting that his death is something to just “get over”. How he’s just like all the other capitol folks, only caring when it’s convenient for them. The other tributes were kids too, with families to return to just like her.
“How am I supposed to face my district knowing I let him die in there?!”
And then it clicks. As he goes home, told to go away and never come back to the girl he worked so hard to save, he finally understands. Pup was so focused on getting her out, he didn’t consider her life after the games. She’d told him her and Treech were close, and he’d seen it with his own eyes, but only now does Pup understand that Lamina couldn’t have a happy ending. Even when she survived, she’d be miserable, because Treech hadn’t. And when he thinks back to the times Treech won, he sees that it’s vice versa. He was a wreck just like Lamina. There is no winning for the tributes.
When he wakes up to the news the trains will be arriving that day, he knows how to break the loop. Pup wants Lamina to be happy, and the only way to do that is to get rid of the games entirely. So that’s what he does. His dad’s an important military figure and after a few tries he convinces him to help. One coup and a sad Felix later, the president officially cancels the games. And when Pup sees Lamina and Treech clinging to each other, as she tears up with happiness for the first time, he knows he did the right thing.
