It's 100% true that the Roy siblings did not choose to be Logan's children and Tom and Greg and the old guard did choose to work for him so their relationships to Logan are fundamentally different, and the degree of culpability they bear for their own moral degradation is also wildly different. But workplace emotional abuse is also very real and omnipresent in the way Logan treats the people who work for him. And one of the impacts of workplace emotional abuse is creating an extreme attachment to the abuser and becoming less cognizant and even defensive of their abuse towards yourself and others, and in cases where the emotional abuse is institutionalized and systemic it can also create a strong aversion to leaving because your whole sense of personal identity becomes wrapped up in the organization and so being forced to leave can cause an intense psychological crisis. I don't think the situation of working for Logan is at all equivalent to being his child but I also think that it's a bit misguided to imply that Tom and Gerri and Frank and Karl are operating from a place of pure rationality without any undue psychological influences when they make the choice to stay with and support Logan

(the good place is a show where 4 humans are placed in a seemingly idyllic neighborhood after death called simply ‘the good place’ and they get to know the architect angel (michael) who designed it, but one human (eleanor) knows she was placed there by mistakes and there’s a ton of hijinks etc etc before she realizes that actually this has been ‘the bad place’ all along and the entire neighborhood is set up to torture them based on their lives and personalities on earth)
where anakin is eleanor who arrives at the good place and knows for sure he shouldn’t be there and obi-wan is michael,the demon who poses as the architect in order to torture the humans
only there’s never been an authority figure anakin’s met that he hasn’t wanted to sleep with, so obviously that’s what he tries with obi-wan because if the angel sleeps with him, surely he won’t throw him out after he finds out that Anakin isn’t supposed to be in The Good Place??
so he somehow seduces obi-wan (a demon who finds humans weird and gross and fascinating and why does this feel so good this is so weird why are you putting this dangly thing in your mouth) and at first obi-wan is vastly confused before he realizes that actually, there’s no better way to torture anakin than to give him attention and then take it away without any sort of explanation.
only.....anakn isn’t one to give up easily, especially because sex with virgin!obi-wan (omg he’s corrupting an angel every time they meet in obi-wan’s office for private sessions) is amazing and he isn’t really attracted to his soulmate who seems much too much into justice and law for his lifestyle.
only.....obi-wan finds it harder and harder to deny anakin his attention and touch as the affair carries on, even when he starts to realize that for anakin, this is not registering as torture at all in his mind.

#negative and venting in these tags#+ I'm not at ALL grounded rn so like. u know#I don't have the proper words rn. but I'm just hoping very much today is just an off-day like most sundays have been lately.#and maybe I can be somewhat functional again tomorrow#I wish I had more positive things to talk about maybe tomorrow will be better and I'll have more positive things then#I'm just so tired and keep not being able to think well. and I just spent like 3 hours just laying down#like resting but not sleeping and I really wish I were at least more ok with being like this#cause I'm not. but I'm too tired to do anything about it when like -_- I've got spirits putting thoughts in my head#and like touching me and telling me things and I couldn't get them to go away even if I wanted to cause I'm just too tired#and their presence is so. heavy on me like their energy or whatever just Weighs u down when too many of them get close#so I can't move I just have to lay there and listen to them and it's so. horrifying#but at the same time it's like!!! the best feeling in the world it's literally better than anything. and I wish it weren't#I wish real physical things felt good to be around too :-(#I wish I could be grounded and functional and awake like normal humans seem to be even in situations like mine#one of the spirits is still touching me now. like. on my ribbcage and I don't know why but it feels . impossible to describe#or to compare to something else lol#I don't know why. they're doing that I don't know what they're trying to do with me exactly.#it's like electricity but softer maybe. not sharp. dull warm radiating pulsating pressure very alive. I can feel them like under my skin#ok it's getting late.
