Midnight thoughts: pondering what a romance between Gale and Shadowheart would look like but like, in the worst possible way

By rights they should hate each other. Shar hates Mystra, Mystra hates Shar. They keep fighting over the Weave/Shadow Weave. Ergo, Gale and Shadowheart should be automatic enemies.

Plus weird age dynamics. Shadowheart comes across as very young but she’s canonically older than Gale. She’s ~48 while he’s ~35. Them being together is a vibe (idk what kind of vibe but it’s a Vibe)

Do they even have anything in common? Other than a love for good wine. Maybe that’s all you need.

Intrigued by the idea of an Origin!Gale consistently ignoring/defying Mystra and falling for her biggest enemy’s cleric. Let Gale mess around with the Shadow Weave. Let Shadowheart become a Dark Justiciar. Let Gale become a god with half a plan to ally with Shar to take down Mystra. Just the worst possible endings for everyone.

Alternatively, good endings for everyone and a lot of Gale and Shadowheart bonding over the fact that Their Goddess Sucks. Origin!Shadowheart getting to see Mystra magic and being awed by all the light and sparkle that Shar wants covered in darkness or transformed into the Shadow Weave. Shadowheart cautioning Gale to think carefully about how/when/if he wants to defy his goddess because she’s experienced first hand the torment of defiance. Epilogue that has Shadowheart adopting every animal she can fit into Gale’s tower and Tara becoming increasingly upset by it.

either way they kinda make a weird pairing with weird untapped potential
