Project doll, price reflects the problems.

Dyed with unfinished faceup. Head is a bit more yellow than the body, but not super noticeable irl. Dye is uneven in some spots (can take additional photos for interested buyers)

Body needs restringing and suede, possibly wiring. I have the Ring Doll box from the body, no coa for either, but bought both from legit collectors.

Can wipe or finish faceup if wanted for no extra cost.

Momocolor Lucy on Luts Honey Self 31 body (plus extra hands) 120€

Hybrid project I abandoned. Body is Luts Dark Tan, head is a bit lighter. It is not as bad as the photos make it look, idk what's the problem with my camera. Can try to take nicer photos with dlsr for interested buyers.

Pretty sure I have a box for the body, I'm not sure if I got a coa from the seller, I'll have to dig out my folder.

Project doll that will need a lot of work, so selling cheap!

It's quite yellowed, and one of the previous owners started sanding it because of that. I'm at least the third owner. I can take additional photos for interested buyers.

It is very loose and will need restringing, possibly needs a new elastic as well.

No coa and no box, but I have photos of the head that originally belonged to it.

All of these were bought from legit collectors and people I trust. I'm strictly pro artist.

Cinderelsa gets a body

My AliExpress order arrived! All four bodies are here, undamaged.

The pinkish pregnant body is slated for Cinderelsa.

The baby bump comes off to reveal a flat stomach insert. I can hear rattling behind it but haven't yet figured out how to get the flat insert off to find a baby.

The quality is decent, not brilliant. The plastic is translucent, and the joints bend when they feel like it. This is still a huge improvement over Cinderelsa's original body! It's in line with what I expected in ordering $5 bodies from a toy distributor in Shantou. I wanted a Chinese body to give me the best chance of an acceptable color match with Cinderelsa's cheap clone head, which... well, it depends on the lighting.

Her head is on! It has to be pushed down hard to stay on, but that's not a huge surprise in joining a cheap knock-off head with a cheap knock-off body.

In this light, her head looks noticeably pinker than the body. In other lights, it looks like a good match. Cinderelsa may take up high necklines. She is so very pink, and I ordered from a distributor whose positive reviews noticed that bodies ran pink, so there's no better I'm going to do.

Cinderelsa can achieve a birthing position of sorts!

Kenzo is excited for fatherhood! Cinderelsa is awkwardly clothed in whatever fit, which was a pair of Broad Ken pants and a Curvy Barbie top. My long-term plan is to sew her a glamor wardrobe, but I'm supposed to be doing paid work today.

I'd hoped that these bodies would allow me to agonize in an ethical dilemma over whether or not to rebody Simply Fresh Kylie (merits of the authentic body as conceived by its designer versus allowing her to interact more freely with her peers through articulation). Alas, she is too sallow for both tones of brown, so original vision it is.

Yall I'm so excited rn

I have another American Girl project doll coming in the mail, thanks to a very generous redditor who let me have her basically free after getting her in a lot with some other dolls.

This one is in ROUGH condition.

Photos from the redditor's post. The button sewn onto the body has been removed with no damage to the body, so that's cool!

Her hair is, obviously, a whole nightmare. I can't wait to detangle it (after washing it because it looks a lil gross tbh) and see if it's salvageable. If it looks bad after I've tried everything I can to fix it, I'll be doing my first re-wigging! If her wig isn't too bad but the ends are scraggly, maybe I'll give her a new hairstyle.

Of course, her leg has come off, but it's still there which is great! I'll just restring all 4 limbs to make sure they match. I have hemostats now so I can get em tighter this time! I want to take her limbs off to deep clean her body.

Toying with the idea of making her a modern girl and giving her a new name and customizing her a little after the actual repairs are done! Maybe some freckles or a mole? I don't want to change the eyes, because that scares me, and I don't want to give her makeup, because I just don't like the heavy makeup look on AG dolls, personally.

This is just a rambly post to get out my excitement and to talk my way through the list of things to do and possible ideas for this doll. I really love fixing them, and I am so excited to add this one to the family regardless of whether she ends up mainly a restoration, or a restoration + custom 🥰

Fumo plush pattern I made for customs making

This is a pattern I made from scratch and that I use for making my customs. It is based on the v1.5 models. Its the definitive version since I made tests before, as I said its from scratch, I could never sacrifice a legit fumo and bootlegs arent reliable for patterns snatching imo since their quality varies.

This is mainly for hand sewing and fairly beginner friendly. I havent tried on a machine because I dont trust these for such small details so I cant garantee you it will looks good if you assemble it with a cheap machine.

Seam allowances and other guides to match the pieces are included there.

I didnt include more hair pieces like the bangs because it would be too specific and this is a general pattern, not one for making [specific character]. I do these parts from scratch as well. If anyone would like help with hair of a specific character I can help (as long as its a character I know, else it would require me to use more time studying the design).

Make the design of the face before cutting the pattern. Methods I recommand using are: machine embroidery (the best), hand embroidery and heat transfert vinyle (require some skills). Ive made a hand embroidery tutorial a while ago. You can also maybe use the face of an existing fumo but its either very costly if you use a legit, or might not get good results if you use a cheap bootleg.

This PNG should be 1:1 scaled but ive added a square on the corner for good mesures. I dont use foot mesures (and i dont know how to use it) so its only cm sorry.

Local white-label clone doll (future Weird Barbie)

By the cash register at the Hope Chest way out McHenry Avenue, there was a phalanx of these new-on-card obvious clone dolls. Both her face-up being pretty, without the "I've seen terrible things and self-medicated to deal with it" expression that the cheapest clones often have, and my not having seen this specific doll before made me curious enough to take a closer look.

What I saw surprised me.

Now, I knew that companies get white-label clone dolls from Alibaba and Taobao, but I'd never before seen one in a context where I was 100% sure it was a white-label situation. And I'd certainly never seen one white-labeled for a company where I live.

I might have contented myself with just taking a photo, but the cashiers were already eyeing me with suspicion. For $2, it's worth taking her home to explore this crumb of local history overlapping clone doll history. What sealed the deal for me was that she has essentially the face-up I was contemplating for a DIY Weird Barbie, and there's no concern here about ruining a good doll.

So who is Wondertreats? Their address is in an industrial park over by the airport, and it turns out, they're an importer of toys, gift baskets, and similar things from China. They used to sell gift baskets via Walmart.com and may have sold directly online, but their web site is dead. eBay has listings for a lot of Wondertreats-branded plushies (which matches their import records) and toy cars.

Finding a manufacturer for this gal promises to be a task so tedious that it's not really worth it. A superficial look at Alibaba brings up no matches, and ploughing through thousands of import records... no. Just no.

Let's un-card her. She's bound to her card with only two plastic loops, so that goes fast.

She can't stand on her own, which is not a shocker. Let's undress her and see what she's got.

Oh, she's horrible.

I don't know why her legs are blurred. Probably shame.

This is the cheapest standard clone body, which means "bendable" on her card is a lie. If this gal bends, it's by accident and not necessarily going well.

She needs a new body if she's to be Weird Barbie, so I guess I'm going shopping for cheap articulated bodies. I'm not blowing $30 on rebodying her!

The stamp on her back reiterates her origins, but that's not sufficient justification to keep her on this body because this body is bad even by clone standards. Perhaps I'll dismember it and treat the torso as an objet d'art.

WHY IS THIS BLURRED? I can't redo it because...

... of course I took her hair down.

And of course her rooting is terrible. That plastic ridge is going to interfere with my plans to give her a short 'do in glitter, the way I did with Ambiguous Brown. I think the plan might be to give her a long braid plus some glitter or flocking action.

Her head does pop off easily, so there's that.

I'm now going to shop for cheap articulated bodies.
