This may be a long shot but does anyone here know about free (or cheap) programs that will let you create text on a curved/round path? Think the sort of text you'd see going around the edge of a round pinback button.

I'm a Clip Studio Paint user so the text tool I have is pretty primitive 😔

#I did a littke bit of research last night and apparently GNU Image Manipulation Program-#allows curved paths. So if there's nothing better I might have to see if that'll be suitable for my needs.#figured id ask tho 😳 if someone more knowledgeable has wisdom id love to hear it #only thing is i need it to be a computer program i can download and use all my own fonts with.#i know there are some free online tools but youre generally stuck with whatever fonts they have #but yeah i literally just need to be able to place text in a circle a few times lmao #grafftalk #delete later

Almost had a breakdown at work and something my coworker said struck me as deeply important and I think you should hear it too.

Whatever you’ve got going on that is really getting to you, you shouldn’t let it ruin your day. Now, it’s going to affect you; it can’t not, that’s part of being human. And if it does ruin your day, that doesn’t mean you’ve failed in any way. It’s okay if your good day takes a break to process whatever is getting to you, but if a good day is worth having then it’s worth trying to have. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to move on, but you owe it to yourself to move forward. Not to anyone else. To yourself. You are amazing at what you do, and it’s easy to get lost in that, but most of all you are human. They will understand; allow yourself time, allow yourself space to work through it, as much as you need. Then keep having a good day.

saw a post complaining about a glaze crawling and thought "well don't give up on the glaze at least try applying it thinner smh 🙄" and then remembered that there's a glaze I used once 3yrs ago and it crawled really badly and I never once used it again. LMAO toxic hypocrite hours for dothbrain.

so now I think I am going to try and use that glaze next term, out of spite (spite against myself).

i’m sort of convinced that the absolutely best essayists produce new work only erratically. it is very hard to do all the work of observing/engaging with stuff, then Thinking Real Hard, and then writing some actually-worth-reading piece, on anything like a weekly schedule. sometimes a person spends years of their life thinking about something and only writes one thing about it. but it doesn’t matter because that one thing was worth it, exactly what needed to be said

however, alas, the demands of (legacy) publishing and (newer) algorithms disproportionately favor Dudes Who Can Churn Shit Out On Schedule

which is why the most Aggressively Mid Writer of the 00′s Game Writing Scene, Ian Bogost, is writing for the fucking Atlantic nowadays, whereas all the actually interesting, provocative, strange, and generally-worth-reading writers from that era are like. their stuff’s languishing on some mothballed archive on their personal site. or on a defunct blog. someplace where people slowly forget about it even though their stuff was always way more daring and novel and just plain interesting than the polished bullshit that builds a career

#wooo tag rant!#this feels too silly to talk to friends about (and also feels a little like bragging which I’m NOT but)#but some stuff has happened in the last week that made me sad so. here we are.#for some context: I’ve always loved music. I sang constantly when I was younger (much to my parents amusement and therefore belittling)#I took piano lessons for five years and cello for three or four #both of those my parents were hugely supportive of #but neither of them were really It for me #I really really wanted to sing #finally in early middle school I talked my mom into letting me take a group voice class at our nearby music school #I didn’t think that would go anywhere of course #but the teacher of the class disagreed #she moved her entire schedule around to make room for me to take lessons with her #she immediately had me fast tracked to the basically honors program in the school. super performance based super exclusive #I’m pretty sure she tried to get lesson prices lowered for me #it was. amazing.#and also the first time I really felt like an adult thought I had potential for something?#I took lessons with her for a few years. I was about to be accepted into the honors program. and then I got my wisdom teeth removed.#tldr we don’t really know what the fuck happened but the muscles in my jaw went insane. I was in constant pain for like two years.#I tried to stick with voice but I just. had to quit.#I went back with a different teacher later in high school but had to deal with Constant complaints about it from my parents.#and when that teacher fell through I just. stopped trying.#my jaw is a lot better now. but I still don’t sing much because it all just. makes me so sad.#it’s this constant reminder of pain and having to quit something I’d dreamed about for Years and having my parents just… not care.#I’m just. so angry and sad.#this was something I loved. and I was good at it.#and now I barely sing in private.#I went to a cool chapel a few days ago that had amazing acoustics and was empty. and it was the first time I had fun singing in. years.#but then I tried again today and felt miserable.#idk.#I miss singing. I miss music.
