Headshot reference - the tanbarun dandy~
Finally. I got to redo his colors. His dark red never sat right with me, no matter how I adapted it, I still was left feeling like he and shirayuki looked like close relatives. So I took out the red, then gave him dark olive eyes to go with the new brown. Like, his palette no longer feels like an afterthought, if that makes sense.

Yesterday I posted about my 3 favourite anime royalty/commoner couples and I just realized they all share 1 thing in common.
In the beginning of each of their stories, the girls are being pursued by an unwanted suitor, but fortunately they are recused and end up in the arms of their one true loves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's funny how each of them are similar, but also really different at the same time with each a different situation.
In Yona of the Dawn, Princess Yona harbored an unrequited crush on her cousin, Soo-Won while unaware that Hak, her bodyguard/childhood friend has always been secretly in love with her until the relationship between these 3 friends changes forever when Soo-Won betrays and almost kills them after murdering the King. Since that day, that was the true beginning for Yona and Hak's journey and relationship together as Yona lets go of her past feelings for Soo-Won, realizing they were nothing more than puppy love while gradually realizing her true feelings for Hak are far more stronger and deeper than she ever knew.
In Sugar Apple Fairy Tale, Anne was being pursued by her friend, Jonas who claimed he was in love with her, but secretly he was envious of her skills as a sugar artisan and wanted to make her his so he could take credit for her work. However, Anne rejected his advances and at the same time, Anne purchased Shall Fen Shall, a warrior fairy to serve as her bodyguard and it quickly becomes clear Anne and Shall are falling for each other. Eventually Jonas' true nature is revealed when he steals Anne's sugar sculpture and leaves her to be attacked by wolves, but fortunately Anne is saved by Shall and Jonas is exposed as a thief and liar. Since then, Anne and Shall continue their journey together and while the love between them deepens, they also face challenges and obstacles ahead, especially when Shall learns of his royal linage.
Finally in Snow White with the Red Hair, Shirayuki was being forced to become the mistress of Prince Raji. To escape her fate, she runs away, but is soon found by Raji and almost forced to accept her situation until she is rescued by her new friend, Zen who reveals himself to be the prince of a neighboring kingdom. Thanks to Zen's intervention, Shirayuki is freed from her unwanted suitor's advances and moves to Clarines to begin her new life where she remains close to Prince Zen and as time goes on, it's clear that Zen and Shirayuki's friendship is blossoming into something much more.

Some cute obizenyuki relationship things for you all, because i cannot stop thinking about them:
Early into their relationship one day Zen finishes work late and goes back to his room to find that shirayuki and obi had fallen asleep in his bed waiting for him. Seeing them cuddling in their sleep immediately lifts his bad mood. It's the first time they all spend the night together and it's the best sleep he's had in ages. From then on they start sleeping over more often, especially when Zen is stressed. When Zen gets especially wrapped up in his work, Shirayuki and Obi are the only ones that can pull him away long enough to get some sleep, and Kiki and Mitsuhide are not shy about taking advantage of this knowledge.
Shirayuki walks into Zen's office one day to ask him a question, only to see him sitting at his desk, trying to fill out paperwork while Obi sits on the arm of his chair and drapes himself all over Zen's shoulders. Shirayuki tries not to laugh at Zen's expression of mixed relief and disappointment when Obi gets up as soon as she walks in and proceeds wrap himself around her instead. Zen usually loves it when Obi gets into one of his handsy moods, but it's not exactly conducive to getting work done, so Shirayuki pretends she needs Obi to accompany her into town for some errands. Zen whispers his thanks to her when she kisses him goodbye before leaving.
When the second prince of Clarines announces that he will be entering into a triad marriage, it takes the world by storm. Clarines is a wealthy country and no one can afford to offend their monarchy, so no one is outright disrespectful to him about his marriage, though it's obvious that no one really knows what to make of it. In the end, prince Raji is the one that breaks the ice when he invites Zen and his spouses to a ball at his palace in Tanbarun. When Zen says that he unfortunately won't be able to make it due to a prior commitment, Raji asks if Shirayuki and Obi will also be accompanying him. Zen says they won't be and in response, Raji asks indignantly, "What, so just because you can't come, they're not allowed to have fun either? Tell them to come visit without you!" Zen is taken aback, having assumed that their invitations were dependent on him being there. He's grateful though, because he can see now that in his own clumsy way, Raji is trying to show his support for their marriage, and he's doing it publicly and with pride.
The three of them discuss the topic of children at great length, and end up deciding to have two, both from Zen. As much as they would have loved to have children from Obi as well, they're very aware that no matter how hard they tried, there would end up being double standards between any children who were biologically Zen's, and any who weren't. They don't want any resentment to grow between their children, so this is the path they decide to take. Obi still loves their children as if they were his own, and anyone who even hints at him not being their real father is banned from the palace permanently. The children grow up happy and adored by everyone around them, and they love all three of their parents equally.

Upon arriving at the house, he meets a mysterious young girl named Rin who, to Daikichi’s astonishment, is his grandfather's illegitimate daughter!

#G2: Bunny Drop (Usagi Drop)
youtube
Propaganda:
Usagi Drop is great at showing the ups and downs of raising a child, and it’s so, so soft. It’s a great reminder of what it means to be a family, what it means to be responsible, and what it means to grow up, even after becoming an adult.
Trigger Warnings: None.

#G7: Snow White with the Red Hair (Akagami no Shirayuki-hime)
youtube
Propaganda:
This is my absolute favourite romance anime of all time. The characters are delightful, and the romance is well-paced, with plenty of healthy communication between the two leads. The story never feels boring, managing to pull off both gentle slice of life and exciting adventures with ease. It features gorgeous animation by Studio Bones and a lovely soundtrack.
Trigger Warnings:

AnS Ask Game - No one asked but here's my full answer sheet;)
1.Favorite character
It's too hard to pick one because the dynamics among the characters is exactly why I enjoy AnS so much🤔. Let's just say I love everyone equally🥰 (Maybe less for Mitsu tho) (I resemble Hisame even in this regard lol)
2.Character you hate with a passion
Nah I really don't have one either. Sensei's really good at building up characters and it's hard to genuinely hate any one of them.
3.Character who grew on you eventually
It wouldn't be a surprise that it's Hisame but it would probably surprise you that he grew on me simply because sensei's art improved so much and I just can't get enough of his pretty face lol. But of course his personality growth is particularly interesting to me as well.
4.Character with the best hairstyle
Tariga!!!! Let me do your braids!!!!!🤩🤩🤩
Also Kazuki's ponytail yes yes yes🤩🤩🤩
Hisame's casually messy hair has a unique style too😎😎😎
5.Character with the best design
You mean clothes?🤔 I'd say Shirayuki, and Hisame has the potential to be a model as well lol.
6.Character you would date in real life
After some serious thinking I would say🤔……Kazuki!😋 (Wait he's underage isn't he???) But let's just say if it's not illegal to date him x), I think it'll be fun to date someone who's a bit (you sure it's 'a bit'?) younger than me and who's always so cheerful and energetic wherever he goes. He's also simple-hearted and I think it's super cute(ˊ˘ˋ*)♡. Last but not least, JUST LOOK AT THAT FACE💗💗😍😍
Oh and yes I'd definitely date Tariga too just for his pretty face💕💕🥰🥰
7.Character you would marry in real life
Ahh…This one's hard. To be honest I don't think I'd make a good marriage candidate for any one of them🤔. I'll probably choose Izana cause he seems to be busy with work all the time and I get to live a good life but still get lots of free time of my own😈. (yeah i guess marriage is not my thing…at the moment…) But if it's marrying into a noble family I'd rather run away with Kazuki and the Lions😈. (Power and duties❌ Adventure and Freedom✅)
8.Character that is most like you
Hisame, as MBTI and @sabishi-tomo 's quiz show.
Fun fact: I totally anticipated it when I found out Hisame was ENTP (tho ENTJ works for him too) cause I myself as an INTP can't help but noticed how we both enjoy being snarky and sarcastic just for the fun of it x). And also in tomo's quiz I got Hisame as well. I do especially agree with the "self-centered", "live to be entertained" and "like to tease people" parts. Apart from that apparently I'm better at forming close connections with people than he is lol. But the point is I'd be a great match for Lady Kiki YES🧎‍♀️
9.Character with the best redemption arc
I'll have to say Raji. Never thought he could actually transform from an annoying arrogant prince into an adorable royal heir, thank you Shirayuki.
But let's not forget the Bergatt twins. The confession they made about finding their light was so touching I almost cried T T.
10.Ships or characters who you think deserve more love
IT'S NEVER ENOUGH FOR HISAKIKI. They deserve all the love in the world. I'll only stop saying this when everyone on earth ships them.
And of course Kazuki. You know what I mean and I'll save the ranting for your sake.
11.Favorite “villain” or morally grey character
If Raji still counts as "villain" as he previously was then yes I appreciate him but in a comedic sense.
12.Favorite arc
Bergatt!!!!! THE PLOT AND THE PANELS!!!!! My heart was pounding so fast and I just couldn't help rushing through pages as if I was the one in the story trying to seize every second to save Zen💓💓💓. Bergatt will always be the best arc. End of story.
13.Favorite scene or line
I HAVE SO MANY FAVORITE SCENES HOW COULD I NOT??? But I'll present you with one that hit me different during my first read and that is Hisame's proposal to Kiki (the one where he actually succeeds). I wasn't even shipping them that much but man the scene was like🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯and I just couldn't help but go awwwwwwww for them💗💗
And now favorite line, I bet no one can ever guess it's this one:
Tumblr media
Sorry I only have the Chinese version with me but basically it's Shirayuki saying: "It would be nice if we get to see the new flower this winter^^." To me, this line symbolizes the very feeling AnS gives me: consistent hope and never-ending positivity in every corner of the simplest daily life.
14.Most hated arc
Not exactly hating or disliking them but the science part in the phostyrias (is that right?) arc is a bit difficult to read for me, and I wouldn't mind if the perfume arc were a bit simpler and shorter. Just saying😜
15.Your controversial take
I'm glad you asked cause I finally get to say this out but also a bit afraid cause it's gonna upset some fans. Just to be clear, I don't intend to throw shade on any ship or characters or people who enjoy them. I'm just sharing my pov👀.
So here it comes: I don't see how Mitsu and Kiki make a good romantic couple, and I don't understand how Kiki fell for Mitsu.
I mean at the very beginning of the story (when it was supposed to be a short series) it was apparent that Mitsu and Kiki were going to be a couple and I could tell that. As the story goes on, we see hints that Kiki has romantic interests in Mitsu. And since Kiki confessed her feeling to him it seems to have become canon that Kiki did/does love Mitsu, and I fully accept that. But still, despite all the hints and confessions, I just don't see when/why/how Kiki fell for him. (Not saying Mitsu is not good enough, just examining their relationship development.) As far as I'm concerned, Kiki takes Mitsu as her most trusted partner and cherished friend. She knows she has to marry someday and of course she'd be looking out for the right candidate. And Mitsu would certainly be her best choice in many ways. But that's it. I don't see how Kiki actually developed romantic feelings for Mitsu. Perhaps sensei just didn't elaborate on that, or perhaps I missed something, in that case please lecture me lol^^
16.Something that you had wished had happened
Man I really wish we get to see more of Kazuki. It's illegal to waste that pretty baby face like that. I mean sensei couldn't you get him a job around Shirayuki? Like being an aide to Obi so that they can take shift to look out for Shirayuki's safety when Obi's away to help Zen or something??
And also I'd love to see more of Hisame's days at Sereg as well, like how he usually tries to be a pain in the ass every time the trio visits^^.
17.Your OTP
HisaKiki (because no I cannot separate ObiZenYuki.)
18.Your favorite rare pair
KAZUYUKI IS UNDERESTIMATED.
Love the chemistry between Tariga and Shirayuki too.
19.Your BroTP
Obizen. That night the way they dealt with their triangle on the deck was absolutely mind-blowing. I've never seen anything like that and I just didn't know it could work this way🤯. Obi&Zen definitely share special bonds and have a unique way of interacting with each other that is essential to both of them.
(Yes I take them mostly as broship but I'm open to other interpretations. I mean I don't really mind what type of relationship they have as long as they're together and they're happy. This applys to obiyuki/obizenyuki as well.)
20.Your NOTP
MitsuKiki. I'm truly sorry. (Not at all😜)
21.Favorite trio
HOW CAN IT NOT BE OBIZENYUKI???
22.Favorite fancontent
I LOVE THE ANALYSIS POSTS ON TUMBLR I LOOOOOOOOVE THEM!!!!!! I enjoy reading every 2000-word essay about how someone think this character has been misunderstood or how this plot is so well-designed or how this detail is supposed to mean something or how……I just love it💗💗💗. Thank you to every amazing AnS scholar who's so profoundly enriched my understanding of the original work💗💗💗.
23.Favorite fancontent that you've created Snow On The Beach. It's just so beautiful. (Credit goes to Sorata and Taylor of course.)
24.A random headcanon that you have
Shirayuki is 100% Tariga's type. The girl of his dreams🥰. (He just doesn't know it yet🥰)
25.Why you picked it up
Haha this one's pure personal story. Two years ago I was binge watching shoujo anime/manga during summer vacation and AnS was one of them. But I only watched the anime back then. It was not until half a year later when I decided I needed some lighthearted mental relief that I thought of it again. So I rewatched the anime, and when I searched about it online I accidentally saw these amazing illustrations from the manga and got totally stunned by the style. Before that I was even criticizing how strange the anime art style is🤣, and the manga was a total surprise!
26.How long you’ve been a fan
A year and a half now.
27.Best part of the series
As I've said before I love how this work is full of consistent hope and never-ending positivity. It's the ideal world in my mind.
Also salute to Sorata's art style and amazing designs.🧎‍♀️
28.Things you would change about the series
Nothing, really. I'm happy with the way it is. It's enough a blessing for me🥹.
29.Things you still don’t understand
Like I said in Q15, I don't really understand how Kiki fell for Mitsu.
30.Did you watch the anime first or read the manga first?
Anime first.
31.Which one is better: manga or anime?
OF COURSE MANGA.
32.The best part of the fandom
Everyone's so positive and kind-hearted and nice and cute and witty and fun just like the characters in the work🥺. Love you guys🥺.
33.How will you feel when AnS ends?
I'm gonna be so sad. On the one hand we won't get any more stories about these people that we love so much, and on the other hand I feel like the community will become much less active when the series ends😢. It's like our days will be gone😢.
34.If you could ask Sorata-sensei anything, what would you ask?
Aside from the loads of questions I have about AnS, I'm genuinely interested in what influenced her most as an author/artist. I love the consistent positivity in almost all of her works and really wonder what works or things perhaps have influenced her in this regard. Or does this positivity just innately run in her blood? Lol. But it's not just the attitude and vibes in her work, I'm overall curious about what influenced her most as an artist.

The Crimson Lion
[Read on AO3]
The flickering candlelight danced upon the polished marble floors, casting a warm and inviting glow in the grand hall of Tanbarun Castle. Tense whispers could be heard from the staff as they rushed to complete their duties, ensuring that everything was perfect for the arrival of their esteemed guest.
A mixture of fear and determination swelled within her; she wasn’t sure how she was going to accomplish it, or how long it was going to take, but she vowed to find a way out of this predicament.
She belonged to no one.
or; If Shirayuki was captured by the royal guards before escaping Tanbarun. [Eventual ObiYuki] Notes:
An overwhelming Thank You to Kaedix for beta reading for me. Many apologies to Meefy for the shenanigans against your boy Raji.
Chapter 1: Beauty Bound and Besieged
Shirayuki had woken up that morning in a quaint herbal shop she called home. She had an early start that morning as she ventured out into the lush landscapes behind her house to forage, excited to get a good start to the day. She had traveled to her usual spots, plucking only enough to restock her supplies and to fulfill the orders she was expecting from her repeat clients, ensuring that she didn’t disrupt the flora and fauna enough to halt any growth.
She was running low on her tonics, but should be fine to fulfill her orders for today without issue while her new jars simmered overnight. The lavender she grabbed today would even be perfect for nearly a full restock, while still taking care of the sweet elderly woman next door for her sleep aides. The birds chirping above her blended in with the sound of glass chiming together in her bag with each step.
The tranquility was shattered when she walked back into the shop and was surprised by the appearance of royal guards.
"By the order of the first prince of Tanbarun, Lord Raji, you are to come with us," the leader of the guards declared, his voice carrying a weight that offered no refusal. Her instincts told her that resistance would only lead to trouble, but even still she placed her hands on her hips and held her head high.
"I haven't done anything wrong," she protested, her voice steady despite her inner turmoil. "Why am I being taken?"
The guard's gaze flickered to her fiery hair, his expression a blend of fascination and something more sinister, as if he were truly enjoying the moment. "Your hair, miss. It is requested by Prince Raji. He desires a woman of unparalleled beauty, and you fit the bill."
A chill ran down Shirayuki's spine. This was a nightmare she hadn't seen coming, but she should have. It had been so long since she had had an issue with her hair that she had become careless and comfortable.
As the guards began to close in on her, Shirayuki knew she had to act.
Without hesitation, she reached out to grab a bottle off the shelf on the wall next to her. "Sorry, emergency restocking!" Shirayuki exclaimed, throwing the crushed powder at their feet to create an opaque cloud in the center of the room. "Gotta run!" Seizing the moment, she sprinted towards the back door.
It wouldn’t take her long to get to the forest, and once there she was sure she could evade them. Her familiarity with the terrain would give her an advantage in hiding from them with their noisy shuffling armor. Her heart pounded in her chest as she slammed her upper body into the back door.
Eyes focused and facing forward, she missed the man waiting for her by the door. Before she realized the hitch in her plan someone grabbed her upper arm and held her back, her feet slipping out from under her from the loss of momentum.
“Look, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way. Regardless of which you choose, you will be coming with us.”
The marketplace seemed to blur around her as she was led through the lively streets and towards Tanbarun Castle. The people bustling around the road parted for the royal cavalcade, the nosy ones trying to get a peak at the person at the center. This wasn’t the first time her hair had gotten her into trouble of course, but it might have become the most severe situation yet. A mixture of fear and determination swelled within her; she wasn’t sure how she was going to accomplish it, or how long it was going to take, but she vowed to find a way out of this predicament.
She belonged to no one.
The flickering candlelight danced upon the polished marble floors, casting a warm and inviting glow in the grand hall of Tanbarun Castle. Tense whispers could be heard from the staff as they rushed to complete their duties, ensuring that everything was perfect for the arrival of their esteemed guest.
The courtyard buzzed as Shirayuki was ushered onto the grounds and into her chambers. The door was shut tight, the clicking of a key locking up the door behind her echoing in her ears. The grandeur of the suite was overwhelming, from the intricately carved furniture to the billowing silky curtains blowing into the room to remind her of her station.
A small group of maids stood ready on the far wall, their expressions a mix of curiosity and polite duty. Among them was a woman a few years older than the rest, dark hair pulled tight into a bun, a gentle smile on her face.
“Lady Shirayuki, I am Selene,” She introduced herself.
“We have been tasked with preparing you for your meeting with Prince Raji.”
No words came to her. She simply nodded in acknowledgment as she moved to take in her immediate surroundings. Her gaze swept over the multitudes of jewels, toiletries and garments arranged out for her on the nearby surfaces. This room alone held more value than she had ever seen in one place, and the thought that it was meant to be for her made her sick to her stomach.
With practiced efficiency, the maids encouraged Shirayuki into another room with gentle hands and soft chittering. The young women attempted to help Shirayuki disrobe, but she held out a hand to distance herself from them. Shaky hands completed the task as she kept her eyes down. Her initial discomfort gradually gave way to resignation as she lowered into the warm water. A mixture of fragrant oils and flower petals caressed her skin as she closed her eyes, willing the moments to pass quickly.
Once the spongebath was complete, Selene led her to a dressing area where a gown of deep emerald green silk waited for her. The maids worked in harmony as they laced up the back of her dress quickly and quietly, pulling the material tight to her form.
Next she was ushered to a soft stool in front of a vanity, where Selene herself applied her makeup. A soft rose hue to her lips, her cheeks, and a subtle touch of dark coal to accentuate her eyes.
It didn’t take long for Shirayuki to lift a hand to rub at her eyes, but Selene gently tapped her wrist in disapproval before correcting any smudges that may have occurred.
Her hair was long, halfway down her back at least. So long that it took three women with towels to get it dry enough to style it as jewels were placed on her neck and wrists. Her bangs were left alone, along with the slightly longer tendrils that framed her face. The remainder was done in two braids that trailed her hairline back with the remainder put into a low bun.
"You truly are a vision, Miss Shirayuki," Selene complimented with a warm smile. "The gown suits you perfectly."
"Thank you, Selene," Shirayuki replied, trying to hide her discomfort with the tight material as she ran her hands down to smooth it out.
"Now, shall we proceed to the grand hall, where Prince Raji awaits?"
Is this really happening? I can't believe I'm being treated like some prized possession. “Uh… yes, I suppose it’s time.”
She wanted to remember the route they took, all of the twists and turns it took to get them to their destination, she really did, but after being assaulted by strange women, and being wrapped up like a gift for some arrogant royal, she was exhausted and just wanting to get through this event with as quickly as possible.
Raji stepped forward to meet her as she reached her destination, his posture exuding confidence as he extended his hand in greeting. "Welcome to Tanbarun Castle," he declared, his voice laced with an attempt at charm. "It is an honor to have you grace our halls."
"Thank you for your… hospitality," she replied politely, her tone neutral. As her hand hesitantly rose to be placed in his, she lifted her gaze to assess the man in front of her.
He was definitely his fathers son. While she did not care much for politics, she had seen him making announcements in the past. However while she couldn’t speak for the King, it seemed the Prince had a small beauty mark under his left eye.
“Ah, the famous red hair,” Raji mused, his tone a mixture of admiration and possessiveness as he raised his free hand to stroke her hair. “Truly a sight to behold. Yes, I do believe you will make a fitting concubine for me.”
Shirayuki's eyes widened in surprise as Raji suddenly snapped near her ear, straightening his posture with a grin. "Please, let us walk and get to know each other."
He took every opportunity to engage Shirayuki in conversation, attempting to win her over with tales of his kingdom's splendor and his own achievements. As much as he was focused on his words, it wasn’t hard to notice she was only offering the basic required responses to his tales.
They were walking through one of the many identical corridors when Raji stopped walking and turned to face her.
"I know you must hate me for bringing you here."
Shirayuki sighed softly, "It's not hate, Prince Raji. It's a desire to be free and live on my terms."
“Such a rare jewel should be protected, adorned, and worshiped, do you not agree?”
“My hair making me an oddity does not make me something to be possessed, and possessions don't define happiness. Hopefully one day you will realize that.”
Raji looked as if he were truly contemplating her words for a moment, before he snapped his fingers again and raised his fist in the air triumphantly. “I imagine once you become more comfortable here, and I give you everything you could possibly desire, you’ll see what life can truly be like!”
She did her best to remain composed and attentive, her responses measured and polite. Beneath her composed exterior, her thoughts were a whirlwind. No matter where her gaze rested, multiple guards were in her vision. Unsure of the path that had been set before her, and the complexities that lay ahead in the castle that was now her new home… She felt trapped.
Raji seemed fascinated by her; enjoyed listening to her talk of her running a business, and how she interacted with others outside of the palace. It truly was as if he was unfamiliar with a world that didn’t revolve around himself.
"You have such a captivating way of describing your life," Raji had remarked.
"Thank you, Prince Raji," Shirayuki replied. He's so oblivious to the real world... I wonder if he's ever faced any hardships.
As the days went on, Raji was getting more bold in his advances. It had started innocently enough, he asked if he could hold her hand. Since he so politely asked… Shirayuki had told him no.
That act of insubordination had earned her a split lip from Dain at the end of the night; the captain of the guards who had been so smug about stealing her away from her home in the first place. He always had a stupid proud grin on his face as he watched her walk about the palace.
The next time Raji got closer to her he bypassed her hand entirely, grabbed her waist with both hands and leaned in. Not to be deterred by Shirayuki turning her head, his wet lips came into contact with her cheek with a pleased moan.
She had learned to wait until she had passed by the captain before wiping her cheek on her sleeve.
It had now been a fortnight since her arrival at the palace, and today was one of the fortunate days that she had not been summoned to Rajis side.
The act of talking to Raji itself wasn’t terrible. For the most part, he was extremely receptive in conversation albeit naive. The issue with Raji was that he was always touching her. Always an arm wrapped around her waist as they walked, pulling her to his side when she managed to stray too far. Whenever he referred to her in front of others his hands always found themselves woven in her hair like it was an accessory to him.
"You are quite extraordinary, Shirayuki," Raji said, his tone unusually sincere.
"Thank you, Prince Raji," she replied. Despite the smile on her face, her eyes were always watching the movements of the guards in the rooms and where any open windows were located.
She was certain that it would be a while before the security developed some slack when it came to her presence, but it wouldn’t hurt to keep an eye out for patterns while she waited.
"I heard you've been exploring the castle gardens a lot lately," Chelle, the blonde chef in the kitchen commented with a knowing smile as she gracefully danced around the other staff in the kitchen working hard to prepare dinner. Shirayuki had found herself sitting on some crates in the corner of the kitchens during a lot of the free time when she was restricted to the palace walls. It was a peaceful chaos that felt very familiar to her.
"Yes, it's a little sanctuary, a small glimpse of the life I left behind." Shirayuki admitted.
“It’s a shame I never had the need for any medicine, it sounds like such a lovely place.”
“That’s a sweet thought, but I’m glad you didn’t come down with an illness just for that. I mean, I still technically own it for a few weeks. If you’re nearby you could probably peek in the windows?” A chuckle escaped her lips as she wanted Chelle unload a small box of potatoes onto the table in front of her, arms bordering the edges so that none fell on the floor, "Are you sure you don’t want help with that?”
Chelle pursed her lips, “You know you can’t get dirty in these dresses. If His Highness finds out you’ve been doing peasant work, he won't be pleased with either of us.”
“Prince Raji wont find out, I’ll be more careful this time… besides,” Shirayuki grinned. “I am a peasant.”
It was nice to have someone to talk to, someone that wasn’t Raji, someone that understood what it was like to have to work hard for what you obtained. Aside from the pride of working in the royal palace, Chelle was just a normal person like her.
“Fine, Lady peasant,” The corners of Chelles lips curved up to reveal a pretty smile as she tossed a peeler to Shirayuki. “Kindly peel me about a dozen more potatoes.”
Only after the task was completed, did the atmosphere in the kitchen change. It looked as if the majority of the prep was done and the cooking proper was to begin. Shirayuki washed her hands thoroughly and approached the guard waiting outside of the kitchen for her.
“I’m ready to go back to my room for the night, if you’re ready to get going?” The look in his eyes spoke volumes of being unimpressed with her kitchen meddling antics, but he kept his mouth shut as he pushed himself off the wall and led the way back to her room.
This path was the most familiar to her, and in just a few turns of the hallways and up the stairs she was back into her room.
“Thank you for today,” If the guards ever wanted to refuse her choice of activities, she would be stuck in this room. She really was grateful for them.
“Hn.”
The door closed.
Locked.
The sound of heavy footsteps walking away.
Shirayuki was alone again.
Shirayuki walked to and opened a window. Leaning out all she could see was the courtyards stained a deep blue in the evening dusk, with the forest even darker beyond that. She rested her chin on her hands, looking at the familiar sight below her window. It was only three stories to the ground, statistically speaking she would be able to survive the fall… but it was after the fall that would be the issue. What would end up broken or fractured, and would the injury make her incapable of running?
Her gaze drifted off into the distance as her thoughts took her away from the palace. Initially she had wished for her view to be from the other side of the palace, of gardens and the edges of the capital city. Recently however, she realized the flaw in that concept. Seeing the city as a motivation to escape was one thing, but the calm of the forest was good to calm her- something she was starting to desire more often as she was incorporated more into day-to-day palace life.
A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts, before Selene unlocked and opened the door. A smile appeared on her face as she poked her head in.
“Evening, Prince Raji was hoping you would join him for dinner.”
Shirayuki hadn’t been expecting any evening calls from Raji anytime soon, or perhaps that was simply her desire masquerading as an expectation. Hands smoothed out the creases in her dress from leaning against the windowsill. No matter…. An indulging smile graced her lips to match the maid.
“Well, we mustn’t keep him waiting then!" She lifted the front of her dress slightly, as to not step on it, and headed out the door following Selene down the hall. He may be trying to get under her clothes, but she refused to let the First Prince of Tanbarun get under her skin.

Raji, singing: Yo-ho! Yo-ho! A sailor’s life for me!
Sakaki: Your Highness, what are you singing?
Raji: Isn’t it obvious? I’m singing a shanty! Sailors sing shanties. It’s required.
Sakaki: But you’re a prince, Raji-sama. Not a sailor.

Doodles of my beloved trainwreck OC Emi/pen name Emilia Liesing aka Edgar Allan Poe on drugs
!!info about her under here!!
okay like...Emi. Emi my beloved. Emi the weirdest OC.
She is a corrupted Tanbarun writer. People either love her and her work or hate her and find her strange and off putting. She is currently in favor of Prince Raji (he's a big fan!) and lives comfortably thanks to her newly gained fame from her recent work about a dark romance between a noble and a servant.
Emi writes both prose and poetry (tho she likes poetry more), the themes are always very dark, taboo and gory. >> the reason why ppl love OR hate her
The common folk finds her works usually interesting. The nobles are split on it cause Emi often criticizes and makes fun of them in her works, some nobles think its really deep and profound xd
One of the reasons why Emi is so controversial is cause of her somewhat public past of substance abuse, that actually increased her fame further (ppl LOVE to watch a trainwreck)
Her real name is actually just Emi cause she comes from a commoner background, her name was later changed by a noble lord who took her in for education and stuff. That new name "Emilia Liesing" became her pen name after she started publishing.
She has very close ties with the underground but you could never prove anything.
She embodies the typical eccentric AND depressed poet/writer type :)
also a character sheet for Emi! :D

Hello, can I please request Akagami no shirayukihime/Snow white with red hair characters (Raji Shenazard, Zen Wisteria, Mitsuhide Louen, and Obi) headcanons with a shy s/o who suddenly gave them a kiss on the cheek?
Snow white with red hair characters reaction to shy female s/o kissing them on the cheek.
~Zen Wistalia~
Tumblr media
When Zen's shy female significant other unexpectedly leans in and plants a gentle kiss on his cheek, his initial reaction is one of pleasant surprise. His eyes widen slightly, his lips curling into a soft smile as he feels a warm, fuzzy sensation spreading through his chest. He can't help but feel touched by her bold yet sweet gesture, appreciating the thought and courage it must have taken for her to make such a move.
As he gazes into her eyes, he can see the slight blush on her cheeks, and it only serves to make his heart swell with affection for her. He reaches up to gently cup her face in his hand, his thumb brushing against her cheek as he leans in to press a tender kiss to her forehead.
"Thank you," he murmurs softly, his voice filled with warmth and sincerity. "That was really sweet of you. I appreciate it more than words can express."
Zen's heart flutters with a mix of happiness and adoration for his shy s/o, feeling grateful to have someone so caring and thoughtful in his life. He wraps his arms around her in a gentle embrace, holding her close as he presses another kiss to the top of her head.

He vows to always make her feel loved and cherished, knowing that her shy gestures hold a special place in his heart. Raji would be completely caught off guard by his shy female s/o kissing him on the cheek. At first, he would freeze in shock, his eyes widening as he processes what just happened. His cheeks would flush a deep shade of red as he stammers out a response, not quite sure how to react to such a bold gesture from his normally reserved partner.
After a moment of awkward silence, Raji would tentatively touch his fingers to his cheek where her lips had just been, a shy smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. He would then turn to his s/o, his eyes filled with a mix of surprise and adoration, grateful for the unexpected display of affection.
"Wow, that was…unexpected," he would finally say, his voice soft and filled with emotion. "But…thank you. It means a lot to me." Raji would then gather his composure, trying to act more princely and confident despite the butterflies in his stomach.
From that moment on, Raji would find himself thinking about the sweet gesture constantly, his heart swelling with warmth whenever he remembers the feel of her lips on his cheek. He would become more attentive and affectionate towards his s/o, wanting to show her how much he appreciates her boldness and the love she has for him.

As he looks into her eyes, he would see the vulnerability and shyness in them, causing his heart to swell with affection for her. He would then wrap his arms around her in a gentle embrace, pulling her close to him as he whispers, "Thank you, my dear. That was truly sweet of you."
