10 thousand years of heaven
Actually wrote another fic (well started as an unrelated short-story idea in my head before falling asleep but then I realised that I can actually connect it quite well) Still posting it here cause I'm not sure if people who only care about the comic feel about these. Anyways, back to work on the iceberg, just neated a little creative break.

Can you elaborate more abt legato and knives in ur soul eater au 🥺👉👈
idk exactly what ur asking for so sorry if this isn't touching on the points u want BUT! they meet their "freshman" year fall semester idk what school system they're using whatever they're annoying and thirteen years old
i think meisters and weapons have to be paired together by some rule or smt so vash is roomed with livio and knives is paired w/ just someone in the NOT class which happens to be legato. they do not get along at first (legato "male living space" bluesummers roomed w/ knives "absolutely fucking not" millions). they do warm up to eachother over the course of the year because of the fact that they're constantly in eachother's space in their tiny dorm apartment thing if nothing else.
by the time the second fall rolls around the two of them are civil with eachother. they both test into the EAT class that semester— that being said, finding knives a partner is an Ordeal. both because his 1st weapon form (more on that later) is insane and difficult to use (esp if u like have any formal training in anything) and because he's a little judgy and he's blunt and his track record of first impressions is abysmal . so he and legato are kind of stuck with eachother (legato could have gotten another partner but ugh moving dorms) (and he enjoys knives's company)
the two of them stagnate for a while when they're new. knives wants to push for harder missions to catch up with vash who's well on his way to making livio into a death scythe, but he can't actually let legato do what he needs to on his end (backseat driver) and they hit a wall until he can actually trust legato .
they do make a good pair, though. legato goes through with knives's overarching plans and thinks quickly when it comes to ripples in the fabric. they do well together for a few years. during this time is when vash kinda fumbles with the witch's soul and livio decides the EAT class isn't worth it, so vash is paired with wolfwood instead (yippee)
by the time they're like seventeen, they're nearly there. vash and wolfwood are at the same hurdle and their witch's soul is right before them, and where livio and knives succeed vash and wolfwood fail. knives does not take it well not so much because because they're not at the same spot but because over these years vash has been beaten and bested and he has lost and he is being torn to shreds in the name of creating a death scythe and nobody else seems all too concerned. it makes him think about the aftermath of vash's first failed witch's soul where vash literally lost his arm and about what he saw in the basement and knives can't accept the fact that he himself is a death scythe under the same organization responsible for that, that hasn't changed at all.
so he and legato disappear (yeah. he chooses to follow knives in this even now), and a number of death's marked targets for students or otherwise are neutralized by the time anyone associated with the DWMA arrives. he and vash don't see eachother for years after that (around canon times ehehehejweioww (to me canon is in 2004 to make it simpler))
actually chunk of the current timeline rq if ur curious (probably missing Something i have 2 fix the documents still)
Tumblr media
i'll elaborate about tessla when i flesh that part out more but for rn all u need 2 know is she was like a bad day and a prayer away from becoming a kishin and the DWMA kinda abandoned her OK? ok cool bye

I’ve shared some of these individually in the past but here you’ll have them all together.
If you've read any of these already then I'd love to hear your thoughts on whether you loved them as much as I did! 🥰

First Best Destiny by Ophelia_j Words: 387,733
TOS/TNG. Such a very special fic. Epic in its scope, it covers the entire timeline of Spirk from their very first meeting through to a  clever and satisfying Generations fix-it ending. It provides extra scenes, additional dialogue and internal monologues to expand on existing canon in a really compelling and effective way. Truly this is my new TOS canon.
The Steadfastness of Stars by itsnatalie Words: 61,566
AOS. After Beyond, The crew investigate sudden climate change on a frozen planet and find more than they bargained for. The perfect mix of great plot, fun original characters, action, mystery, world building and deep deep love.

Time After Time by spaceisgay (ChancellorGriffin) Words: 138,921
SNW. Kirk spends a 6 month rotation on the Enterprise as part of his command training. OK, if there’s a favourite of my favourites then this may be it. It’s such a stunning version of their love story, with a beautifully constructed plot. It runs the emotional gamut from moments that will have you laughing out loud to moments that will have you in floods of tears.
milk and honey by spaceisgay (ChancellorGriffin) Words: 28,651
SNW. Kirk and Spock meet for the first time when they wake up in a prison cell together. A really fun, and extremely clever, version of the ‘aliens made them do it’ trope. It’s intriguing and funny with a real depth of feeling throughout.
The Promised Land by gunstreet Words: 58,260 @gunstreet
TOS. A story that explores the time Jim and Spock spent apart between the end of the 5 year mission and TMP. It’s a beautiful story of reunion and renewal of love. Sometimes achingly sad, but it’s worth it for the happy ending.
Again, if you've read any of these already then I'd love to hear your thoughts on whether you loved them as much as I did! 🥰

Undead Unluck Chapter 196 Spoilers!!
WHAT THE ACTUAL FU
She seems to be so sure about this fact... Obviously it's because she made her predictions from information already established in the previous loop. But maybe this is trying to say something. What if she's wrong? What if it's not the same people each time?
It's been proven that she's right with the memories she got from artifacts showing Nico, Gina and Void always being in the team. But not the rest. Maybe it's shown like that on purpose.
Juiz didn't predict Billy's betrayal, so it's either that she has never encountered Unfair before or Unfair was a different person back then.
Oh and the chapter title makes me think that the next chapter will be named "Go!!!"
Tumblr media
BILLYYYYYY <3 <3 <3 I MISS YOU (look at this silly man. I love him :]) and Grandpa Isshin with Baby Haruka!! I still love the beard pulling gag lol
Glad we get more in-depth information about Unbreakable. Out of every abilities, this one is the most vague. "Whatever they make that they poured their soul into becomes unbreakable" it's a fully mental requirement. Guess it also requires lots of training...
Tumblr media
BRUH HE EATS SOULS?? Soul Eater lmao
Why is he holding the octopus like that 😭 it's like a squeaky toy that's about to pop
Tumblr media
*moans and dies* FUUKO WITH A SWORD FUUKO WITH A-
Top and Haruka :]]
Huhhh does that means UMAs aren't simply personifications of concepts but are rather only closely intertwined? As in, if they're gone so is the concept but they are not the concept itself??
I wonder how many other previously established facts were simply mistakened assumptions...
Tumblr media
"at this moment" that means she only saw it when Beast ate the octopus. Did something trigger it?
And it's really showing the uniqueness of souls. They exist but if you don't believe in them, it's nonexistent to you, example being Victor's "humans only live because blood pumps into their brain" as well as Andy not believing in it until the whole hypothetical timeline in the Autumn arc. It's taking the whole "it's all about how you see it" thing to the extreme.
Also damn Beast that eyeliner's gonna stab me with how sharp it is
Tumblr media
ANFUU- *flatlines* HOLY SHIT IT'S THEMMMM
Everytime she calls him her partner I combust into flames I love them so much ughhhhh
"beasts are no different" I suppose souls are synonymous with life then
Autumn arc really was just the two of them learning from each other :((( as well as the first hint of soul, apparently. Fuuko's soul literally got sucked out by Artifact Soul Caliber so it should've been obvious, really.
Looks like Fuuko got it right on the money, based on Beast's expression giving off an "I underestimated the situation" message (Tozuka-sensei's such an awesome artist damn)
Oof looks like Beast's tendency to blabber is being used against him. Not even Talk no Jutsu, he's just overconfident and is falling from his hubris.
Tumblr media
FIRST RULE REVEAL WOOOO (but not First Seat so not much celebration yet)
"born afterwards" that means soul/life begins all. Are UMAs affected as well? Or maybe I'm seeing it wrong.
Tumblr media
THIS SPREAD IS SO GORGEOUS WOWSEE
Finger guns...???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BRUH... JUST... BRUH. (this and the following pages deserves its own post. I am NOT letting this get hidden away. what the fuck.)
TL;DR of the post if y'all are too lazy:
1) What the absolute fuck. What the fuck. My mouth has been agape for 30 whole minutes. What the fuck.
2) I think I fell in love with Fuuko all over again.

conquering the Soul Eater manga timeline
this can be an open discussion because i haven't read Not and i unfortunately cannot get my hands on any officially translated volumes, so if there's anything that proves my alignments wrong, feel free to tell me and i'll update this!!! i break the timeline up by month and what year of the story we are in. i'm not doing math and not considering the exact days and alignments for what day of the week the dates are lining up on, that is something i am not willing to put myself through. this is post is long af, so if you don't care about all of my explanation, i'll put a summary of the timeline at the end for easy reading.
admittedly, the beginning half of the manga is easier to label because this is when we get some distinct timeframes, but it is still a horror. because of this, i'm going to use this as a reference to how time passes with the other events in the manga. i'll be referencing the Soul Eater wiki as a basic guide as much as i can and scouring the manga for any hints about how time is passing for everything else. honestly, if the second half of the manga was speed run, the entirety of Soul Eater could take place less than a year. i don't think that is the case purely because of the pace at the beginning of the manga, so let us begin.
November (1)
this is where everything starts: the prologue chapters, the remedial lesson with Sid and Stein, Kid enrolling in the DWMA. there is no specific day in which this all starts, the wiki says it's just "after October 31st," so i'm going to start us off on exactly November 1st for the beginning of all of this. every one of these events could easily be happening within the first two weeks of November.
following this, realistically it would be a day or two before Maka and Soul take on the extra lesson where they meet Crona. Soul gets slashed and, according to my google search, wounds that are large or "surgery incisions" usually take about 1 week to stop being super inflamed. total healing times vary, but i'll say that since weapons are kinda human kinda not, that Soul would be able to be up and walking around somewhat normally in about a week, maybe less. last week of November can be when Masamune and Tsubaki's fight takes place, so this is our entire first November stacked up.
December (1)
strong start! and from here on out, the timeline gets confusing. wiki says chapters 10-15 take place from December-February. this includes the Free jailbreak, the super exam, and the whole Nidhogg and Black Dragon mission for Kid. in the next chapter (15), we're at the DWMA Foundation Eve ceremony which is supposed to take place . . . on April 1st.
Tumblr media
this is one of the very few times we're given an exact date (Chapter 32), so i'm using it as an anchor for everything else. i'm also going to assume that these students sometimes have days off and breaks and have "normal" school life to a certain extent. i'm also going to assume that they have some sort of winter holiday off, whether it's some sort of Christmas or Yule or just the New Year doesn't matter; what actually matters is that they would get probably 2 or more weeks off of school because of it. they're in Nevada, which means that it is (maybe? probably?) the New years that is on January 1st.
let's say December starts with Chapter 9. it opens with the Witch's Mass where Medusa puts the snakes in Eruka. then it cuts to Soul having a general check-up on his wound. Stein gives Black☆Star the jar of funky water that will strengthen his soul for the phantom sword mode. for the sake of stretching this out to something reasonable, i'm going to say that this check-up takes place at least one week after the Witch's Mass, because Eruka trying to confront Medusa takes place the same day as the check-up and i doubt Eruka would have shown up to confront her like the day after the mass. after this, i want to say that the Free jail and bridge plot takes a while to set up, but . . .
Tumblr media
tomorrow. god, i have never hated a word more. this speeds up the entire chain of events with fighting Free on the bridge. i'd say that it takes 2-3 days to break Free out, for Maka and Soul's wavelength to get messed up, and then they fight on the bridge. this puts us at week 2 of December. Maka's hands are fucked up after the fight and Soul makes a comment about how he'll have to make dinner for a while by the looks of her hands, so i'm exploiting that and saying that is when DWMA has their "winter holiday break." while all of that is happening, Crona is harvesting souls and stuff w/ Ragnarok (shown at the end of Chapter 11). i'll say that this is all in preparation for the Nidhogg in a bit.
January & February (1)
and now, we do a little time exploitation. let's say they come back to school the 2nd week of January. Maka's healed, everyone's back, wahoo!! Chapter 12 is the super written exam, and this is where my exploitation comes in.
Tumblr media
test in one week, Maka's already been studying for a whole month. i'm imagining the first day back from winter break goes something like this: Stein walks into the room, writes "Super Written Exam" on the chalkboard, slaps it and yells "THIRD WEEK OF FEBRUARY," and Maka goes home that day and immediately starts studying. i know Maka's a nerd and reasonably was studying the whole year and between missions and whatever, but this is for my sanity. scores probably took a whole day to come out and be posted. anyone below Soul (Kid, Liz, Patty, and Black☆Star) had to take extra lessons, so those probably took up the remaining week of February.
March (1)
i am deeming March as the month of nothing but the Nidhogg mission. after the Nidhogg mission and Ragnarok eating all the souls on that boat, it's Kishin revival time at the party, which means the Nidhogg mission needs to be right at the end of March b/c then Kid knows about the Kishin being under the school and i doubt he sat on that information for a super long time or else he would've gone to investigate.
April (1)
April fools, it's Kishin awake time!! this covers Chapter 16-22 and it's got all the fun stuff: the first Crona redemption, the first Medusa death, and Lord Death calling together all of the Death Scythes. this is also supposedly the time when Maka checks out the Book of Eibon from the library, so i'm making the call that she did it after she connected with Crona and before the Death Scythes arrived b/c her purpose for taking it was because she wanted to know more about black blood and Medusa's research and somehow ended up there.
i really can't put a guess on how long it takes the Death Scythes to get to Death City because the speed at which people travel across entire countries in Soul Eater is insane. Kid flew from Egypt to Nevada and back within a day on his skateboard, there is no explanation i can come up with. for the sake of my sanity, let's say that it takes at least a week or two for the Death Scythes to get here b/c they have to find arrangements to take over whatever positions they had at their previous stations. the students are also recovering from various injuries and the city is rebuilding from the fight between Lord Death and Asura
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these panels make it seem like at least the DWMA has gone on a break for a bit because of all the Kishin junk and that the Death Scythes arrived the day before school was resuming. let's say that the "tomorrow" is going to start the Monday of the third week of April.
Tumblr media
this puts Crona's trial day of school as the Monday of the last week of April since Maka's day with her dad already happened (presumably the day before). Crona's been in the dungeon ever since April 1st, and their trial day is the same day that Arachne makes her first appearance (which is pretty rough smh, first day out of prison and you meet your evil aunt?? damn). this is all happening in Chapters 23-26.
from this point on, Maka's completely paralyzed for . . . an undisclosed amount of time. we've got Black☆Star's second run-in with Mifune maybe a day or two after Maka is set up in the infirmary at the DWMA. i used to think that the candy Black☆Star got from Mifune somehow cured her, but i have now realized that's not the case because,
May (1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the party Kid hosts that is interrupted by the runaway train happens on the same day Maka comes back to class for the first time. Azusa says that the runaway train mission happened on May 21st (in Chapter 38), which ultimately means that, according to the timeline we've got going, Maka was in the infirmary for almost the entirety of May. this truly does make sense since, in that time, Medusa took over Rachel and Rachel's family had enough time to put up missing posters for her. May 21st is also when Medusa makes her appearance to Crona and everything starts going bad for them, which means Medusa had enough time to get in contact with Eruka again. Kid then seems to spend the rest of May after the runaway train looking for information about Eibon.
June (1)
this is the point of no return, this is the last specific date the wiki has. after June 1st, we are absolutely in the dark as to when tf anything happens (according to the wiki), so i'm probably going to get even more picky about the details. June 1st is when Kid is in the library and realizes that the Book of Eibon has been checked out. a day or two after that, Crona gets the snake and puts it in Marie's drink. all of that happens in Chapter 32, and in Chapter 33 we've got the group soul resonance lesson.
Tumblr media
time exploitation time, Stein says "in the near future," so i will take that to mean "in a week" because that is the near future. a week after the group lesson, it's Lost Island Brew Tempest mission time. i'll say that the Brew mission happens on like in the middle of the second week of June (this also makes me realize that they don't have summer break! smh! i guess evil never rests, but whatever). this covers Chapters 34-37, Lord Death immediately calls for BJ after the Brew missions. i'll say that it takes BJ a few days to get to DWMA and his investigation takes place sometime in the third week of June. this happens on a day during the school week because Kid and Black☆Star have their fight where Kid absolutely demolishes Black☆Star, and Maka leaves her "Maka notes" at school and ends up overhearing a conversation between Crona and Eruka.
Tumblr media
Maka Notes. anyways, Black☆Star gets suspended and goes to Japan with Tsubaki, BJ gets murdered, Stein is set up to be the murderer and he leaves with Marie to find the really culprit, and Crona leaves the DWMA all on the same day. a lot happens that day, RIP BJ, lived for two chapters. Crona was only at school for about two months, and one of those months was full of being worried about Medusa being alive!! makes me sad
July (1)
after that specific day, i feel like Chapters 41-43 have to take place in the tail end of June, if not the beginning of July. everyone has extracurricular lessons, Medusa surrenders herself, and Kim and Jackie run away from DWMA within a day or two after Chapter 43 now that everyone's extracurricular lessons are done. three days after Medusa surrenders herself, operation Capture Baba Yaga happens, which covers . . . Chapters 46-60. this is where things get even more uncertain for when things happen. there is an "unknown time skip" after Baba Yaga finishes up. i will be basing this time skip off of Black☆Star's insane amount of wounds that he has to recover from after killing Mifune (rip Mifune, wish he had lived tbh).
Tumblr media
Black☆Star's fingers are MANGLED. he has other injuries from this fight, but i think it's those fingers that are gonna give us the best bet as to how long the time skip actually is. we see some stuff right after the battle with Justin and Giriko, then probably 2-3 days after that (putting us at the end of the first week of July), Kim and Angela are granted permission to stay with the DWMA, and Stein and Marie confront Justin, providing me with my absolute favorite panels of the manga.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyways.
Tumblr media
we see Black☆Star's fucked up in Chapter 61, he's got his finger cast on, again this is probably 2-3 days after Baba Yaga, still at the end of that first week of July. with Black☆Star's broken fingers, we continue on.
August & September (1)
my google search says that "fractured fingers typically take 6-8 weeks to heal, but can take up to 3-4 months to fully regain strength." i won't say that it takes 3-4 months for Black☆Star's hand to heal, mainly b/c he wouldn't be able to stay inactive for that long, but i think the 6-8 weeks is reasonable considering those fingers were obliterated. people in Soul Eater heal pretty fast and Black☆Star is super strong, so we can settle on a solid 8-10 weeks before Black☆Star is healed enough and had some physical therapy to be sort of back in action in Chapter 62. all of the other students seem to be full healed and adjusted to this schedule they've got (Ox has also grown out his bald ass head, so that's another time indication). enough time needs to have passed for Maka and Soul to have acquired 99 souls for Soul to become a death scythe. they probably had gotten some souls in the gaps between actual events and whatnot, so it's not like they're going 0-99 in a matter of 10 weeks. so, we come into Chapter 62 at around the end of the third week of September with Stein and Marie returning after beating tf outta Justin, Black☆Star is well and healed, Soul becomes a Death Scythe, and the Spartoi is officially formed.
from here, we get Maka and Soul practicing flying and abilities now that Soul is a Death Scythe and we have Gopher and Noah's forces showing up. this is definitely the next day, maybe two days, so i'm gonna say that this is that start of a new week. it seems that everyone is kind of just spending time to train and get stronger in preparations for whenever the next move from the opposing side happens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this both emphasizes the fact that everyone is spending time getting stronger, and it also makes it clear that the other members of the Spartoi aren't on the Witch's Research mission while Maka is training and fighting in Chapters 63-65. Chapter 65 ends with a glimpse of Medusa telling Crona that they're going to start moving forward with her plan, and i will say that this ends September.
October (1)
full honesty, i can't tell how long it's been between Chapter 65 and Chapter 66. it obviously is after the run in with Gopher, but how long? i don't know!! for some reason, Maka was not assigned the Witch's Research mission even though they were looking for Medusa and her lab, which probably could be good for her high ability soul perception.
Tumblr media
i get it, she wasn't assigned, but this whole mission consists of the rest of Maka's resonance team (minus Kid b/c he's stuck in the book) and team B, minus Ox and Harvard. maybe it was purely to play around with different team dynamics since Kilik wields Liz and Patty in Kid's absence (i'm also pretty sure they say that Kilik has the same type of ability as Stein when it comes to matching with weapons' wavelengths and whatnot). anyways, i think this whole mission probably happens over halfway into October for a few reasons.
firstly, Black☆Star being healed earlier doesn't mean he was Fully ready for missions yet. his appearance in Chapter 62 was probably his test to see if he was physically ready to take something on again. this seems to be his first mission after being recovered, so i'd say that the new Spartoi group had to do some adjusting now that everyone is ready to go by then. secondly, Gopher attempted to assassinate Maka, which probably put the DWMA more on alert since it's an enemy they haven't even seen before this point. this also might be why Maka isn't on this mission. they wanted to make sure that this mission went off without a hitch, they didn't want to rush into it so they super planned it, and it worked for the most part. lastly, Medusa said "It's time, Crona" at the end of Chapter 65. she probably already had preparations for all of this stuff, but i feel like since this is also her "reappearance" with Crona and her clown experiments, it works as a "time to get things moving" rather than "we're starting this right now." we also have no indication as to when tf she even says that, so it could be right after Maka's attempted assassination, or it could actually be right before the mission!!! with all of that, i am dubbing the Witch's Research (Chapters 66-68) mission to have happened at the end of the third week of October.
after all of this happens, Chapter 69 (nice) gives us some random school life where Soul is getting "Partner Requests" from other students, which also supports my idea that this happens late October rather than right after Maka's run-in with Gopher, because now Soul's been a Death Scythe long enough for the younger students to start trying to fuck around with Maka and Soul's partnership (unrelated but there's also some insane foreshadowing about Medusa's fuckin death in this chapter?? i might have to make my own short post about that b/c it's crazy to me). this picks up right after the Witch's Research mission (i think) because Black☆Star brings in Eruka in to Lord Death to help retrieve Kid from the Book of Eibon. there's a bunch of "one day earlier" and "the appointed day" when they're talking about performing the magic to send the Spartoi into the Book of Eibon, so for my mental health, i'm going to say that the Witch's Research team takes a day to get back, brings in Eruka the next day and Maka confesses to checking out the Book of Eibon, and then they perform the ritual to get the Spartoi in the book, which puts Chapters 69-72 in the third week of October (Kid's in the book for over two months!).
as for the entire Salvage arc, Chapters 72-81, once again there is little-to-no time indication as to how long it takes the Spartoi to get through the Book of Eibon. the DWMA teachers show up at Noah's hideout by the time the Spartoi are able to get Kid out, it's night time, but who knows!! i'm assuming that it's a mission that takes only one day based off of the fact that the witches and other Spartoi members that didn't go in the book are still hanging around the site of the ritual where the Spartoi entered even after the teachers have left to confront Justin and Noah.
Tumblr media
good news tho, Maka was pretty injured, which means that i can use her wound healing as a basis for time passing!! we get a lot of exposition from Lord Death, Kid, and Stein in Chapter 82, then we find out Tezca didn't die, and then we see Crona in Moscow fighting the Death Scythe stationed there. and no time indication. i'm assuming that since Kid apologizes to Lord Death for being missing and he's still wearing his little white coat, that all of their conversation must be right after they get back from that mission, which i think is probably the morning after their fight with Noah since they fought at night. this keeps all of their convo in the third week of October. as for Moscow . . . we must now return to Maka's wounds from Chapter 76.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maka gets kinda fucked up here by Giriko. even if it is a soul wavelength thing and meister's are super fit b/c of training and whatnot, Giriko is literally a chainsaw. she fights when they get out of the Book of Eibon, but i'm going to chalk that up the definite adrenaline she's feeling because she collapses as soon as that fight is over. google says that minor lacerations take less than 2 weeks to heal and major ones take 6-8 weeks to heal. i am realizing now as i type this that Kim's witch abilities could probably heal a lot of people faster (including Black☆Star earlier which i will choose to IGNORE b/c there still had to be enough time for Maka and Soul to get 99 souls) but i think i will choose to ignore that because i don't think the DWMA wants to use her like a school nurse.
November (2)
i want to say that it's been at least 3 weeks, if not a whole month. even if the timeline is fucked, if someone was really injured in the manga, there always seems to be enough time given to them to heal between big acts of the story. it's always kind of obvious when things happen back to back and Medusa probably makes adjustments to the black blood between missions, so i think that it's reasonable to give Maka the time to properly heal from those wounds. she and Soul look pretty casual in those panels, meaning they're able to have some down time.
also, that puts us at officially a whole year since the beginning; we're at the third week of November with Maka's healing time. we won't be over two years for the whole timeline since we're near the end, which kind of surprises me, but whatever. anyways, by the time Crona does their blood thing in Moscow, it seems that Maka has fully recovered from the Giriko fight. Maka, Soul, Kim, Jackie, and Stein go to Moscow after Crona does their blood orb thing, which is probably the day after it happens by the time they get there. it's also snowing in Moscow, and my google search says that it usually starts snowing in Russia around October-November, so that tracks. everyone finds out that the Ukraine blood orb happens while they're in Moscow. Justin shows up at the Ukraine blood orb during the day and Tezca gets decapitated, so some time has passed since the orb appeared b/c there is a significant lack of security and helicopters shown when it first appeared.
full disclaimer: things get very confusing after this point and i'm going to take some liberties to make things make sense. Kid confronts Lord Death about some raids that the DWMA have been doing in order to get people to find the Kishin, and then we see him go to the Lost Island to talk to Eibon, but then we also see Kid on the Lost Island while Crona kills Medusa, and then after Crona kills Medusa . . . Maka, Soul, Black☆Star, and Tsubaki are in some random village helping them hunt down a sky whale??? then, after they return and it's revealed that Crona has been added to Lord Death's list, Kid comes back from the Lost Island???? and then there is, presumably, some sort of a time skip because we see everyone preparing for the missions AND there has been enough time to build an entire air ship.
Tumblr media
i'll tackle the air ship last. first, i'm going to put a definite order for the events i just listed b/c they don't make sense. Kid's trip to the Lost Island is shown across multiple chapters (Justin killing Tezca, Crona killing Medusa, and the sky whale mission, which is Chapter 86-88) that talk about things that do not seem to be happening at the same time, so i'm taking advantage of this. Kid's mission being interspersed means that Tezca's and Medusa's death happen before Kid is actually in the Lost Island. i think it all goes something like this: Justin goes to the Ukraine blood orb, kills Tezca, skip a day or so and Crona returns to Medusa and kills her, the raid Kid asks about happens and the news comes out (via newspaper Kid is holding in Chapter 86), then he says he's going to the Lost Island. that probably takes at least a single day to prep. going to say that by the time Kid is actually on his way to the Lost Island, it is the 1st of December.
December (2)
Kid can only be in the magnetic field for 20 minutes, so he is on the Lost Island the same day Maka and the gang deal with the sky whale, because that's the day they find out Crona's been added to Lord Death's list and Maka senses the Kishin on the moon, and then they have to plan how to get to the moon. from there, we have the preparation time skip and, according to my google search, it takes usually over a year to build an air ship/blimp.
there's no way it took the entire DWMA that long to build the air ship purely b/c 1) if it had taken a whole year, i'm pretty sure it would've been mentioned, 2) fantasy type world, DWMA has magic tools in the air ship, so there were probably some magic tools involved in the actual making of the ship, 3) the Spartoi search for Crona and train while the whole time the DWMA was preparing and planning, and i really doubt it took Maka a whole year to think about the church and, honestly, that Crona could survive on their own for a year without being noticed again (both because they're crazy and probably can't take care of themself very effectively, and that people were probably on the look out for another "black blood" event and nothing ever surfaced).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crona hasn't been seen "since the incident in Russia," which means the DWMA has been looking, but they've gone radio silent in regards to causing any problems. Maka has been trying to see the whole world at once this entire time, so she's getting sensory soul overload, and probably can't do a search like that super often, maybe once every other day or so to try and actually get results that make any sense.
considering all of this, i turn back to the construction of the air ship. this is a mission that is extremely important, so the DWMA is putting a lot of power and planning into it. there is no previous mention (that i know of) of an airship owned by DWMA, so i'm assuming they're starting from the ground up with the help of any magic tools that speed up the process. with that, i and going to say that the air ship took AT LEAST a month to build, probably more than that.
January (2)
magic tools or not, you can't prevent all general workplace construction errors with better tools. maybe the DWMA did already have an air ship, maybe it didn't actually take that long, but it makes the most sense to me with the evidence given. there's the point to be made that "oh, why would the Kishin not come attack them if they're all just spending the time building a blimp?" Stein makes a point of saying that it would be "disadvantageous" for the Kishin to leave the moon because he still gets to spread madness from there whether they fight or not. i really doubt they'd be able to cut down an entire construction process that usually takes upwards of a year to anything less than a month. it can't be too quick because then the plans to go to the moon and find Crona would be too hasty and ill-prepared. the negotiations with the witches also began before the DWMA attacked the moon (Chapter 97). plus, i'm going to use this panel as a way to confirm to myself that things did take a bit of time to prepare.
Tumblr media
"finally" meaning that those moon bitches had to wait a while before DWMA got to the moon. from here, we're basically at the end. even if the air ship took less or more than a month, the entire manga finishes up with the battle on the moon, which takes, at most, two days of straight fighting.
what i have decided on puts us at the very beginning of January, and that's where it ends!! Chapters 91-112 all happen within that two-ish day battle and that's where it ends. there is no 113th chapter of Soul Eater. hypothetically, if there was a 113th chapter where a funeral for Lord Death and a coronation ceremony for Kid took place, those events would probably take place within the second and third week of January.
here is the summary of the entire timeline:
November (1): very beginning of the manga, Crona and Medusa's introduction, Masamune is defeated
December (1): Medusa puts the snakes in Eruka, Free is released from witch prison and he fights Maka and gang on the bridge, winter break for the students?
January (1): essentially nothing, come back from an assumed winter break
February (1): super written exam
March (1): Nidhogg mission
April (1): Kishin revives on the eve of DWMA's anniversary, Maka befriends Crona, the Death Scythes (Maria, Azusa, and Justin) arrive, Crona trial day at school, Arachne wakes up and Maka is paralyzed, Black☆Star fights Mifune for the second time and gets the candy
May (1): Maka gets better from being paralyzed, Medusa possesses Rachel, runaway train, Medusa approaches Crona again
June (1): Kid realizes the copy of the Book of Eibon is missing, Crona puts the snake in Marie's drink, Lost Island Brew Tempest mission, BJ shows up and instantly is murdered, Crona runs away from DWMA
July (1): Maka meets the Clown in the factory, Medusa surrenders herself, Kim and Jackie run away and join Arachnophobia for a minute, Baba Yaga mission, Kid gets sucked into the Book of Eibon, Kim and Angela are allowed to stay at DWMA
August (1): everyone recovers and gets strong after Baba Yaga
September (1): Soul becomes a Death Scythe, Maka and Soul learn how to fly, Gopher tries to kill Maka
October (1): Witch's Research mission, Spartoi goes into the Book of Eibon to rescue Kid
November (2): Crona kills the Death Scythe in Moscow, Crona destroys a city in the Ukraine, Justin kills Tezca, Crona kills Medusa
December (2): Kid goes to the Lost Island to talk to Eibon, Crona is put on Lord Death's list, Maka senses the Kishin on the moon, construction of the air ship is started
January (2): Maka finds Crona in the church in Italy, the moon battle begins and ends, Lord Death dies and Kid is named the new Shinigami.
and that is the end!! if you've made it to the end of my madman rambling, please converse with me if you have any thoughts on this. DM, reblog, reply, whatever, let me know what you think. it took me multiple days to write all this up and actually look through the manga thoroughly enough to kinda figure out how and where everything happens. i did it out of pure frustration that it's hard to tell the order of things and i'm glad i found a way to make it make a bit more sense

if we only live once (i wanna live with you)
Pairing: Nancy Drew/Ace Hardy (I CAN SAY THAT NOW)
Rating: M
Timeline: During and Post Series Finale
Word count: 8,259
Summary:
"Always. Forever."
The promise she’s making feels bigger, loaded. Nancy knows that if the curse really is gone, there is no way she’s ever letting him go. And she knows, as irrevocably as she knows she loves him, that he feels the same way.
Read on AO3
It feels unsettling.
She knew it would, packing up her entire life, leaving behind the only home she's ever known and the entirety of her family - the one she was born into, and the chosen one she picked up along the way. But as she says temporary goodbyes to her dads, packs up her old room to make room for the newest member of the Drew family, and shares a catch-up meal with her friends, she knows that the space left by the things she's leaving behind will make room for the things that are yet to come.
Nancy has dwelled on the fact that she’s the reincarnated version of the possibly most evil person they’ve come across, but this is her last lifetime. She doesn’t have time to dwell. She can simply choose to correct the mistakes of her past lives, and give herself the grace to find happiness in the moment between. As if she’s worthy of it.
And yet there's  a huge gaping hole in her heart in the shape of a person.
It feels wrong–the possibility of leaving and never seeing him again. He’s been her rock for so long, quietly by her side when she found out the truth about her real heritage, never leaving when she made mistake after mistake while trying to navigate life. His friendship never wavered through all the wrong arms she’d stumbled into. He’d had some sort of feelings for her since high school–which still astounds her–and has had to watch her make all the wrong choices for most of their time together. Nancy wishes she’d make sense of things earlier. They could have had more time before she inevitably ruined things between them.
She thinks back to the night she called to the sin eater, and while her choices baffle her at times, she understands now, at least in some ways. She’d known what it was like to carry the guilt of being responsible for another’s lost life. A part of her carries it with her always. It changed her, in ways she didn’t anticipate or want. She felt the guilt of losing Owen, and even with the Aglaeca, she felt responsible for everyone's near brush with death. So Ace’s assessment of her wanting to change him was so utterly wrong it hurts somewhere deep in her weakened soul. She didn’t want to change Ace. She didn’t want what happened to change him. She didn’t want him to carry the pain she carries every day of every week of every month and year.
With everything I have, I forgive you.
She doesn’t doubt his forgiveness. Because Ace is irrevocably kind, and selfless and loving, and if he’d voiced her forgiveness to her, Nancy doesn’t doubt it was genuine. But it will take time before she can forgive herself. It will take time before she can start hearing this, instead of what you did was unforgivable.
But she owes it to herself to try, and most of all she owes it to him, wherever he is.

PRE-CURSE (Arcobaleno)
Belphegor's part in Nurarihyon no Mago (Primo era)
All Corpse Party events for Viper. (Fuuta, Bluebell, and Mitsuru only enter the place after the earthquake because they are younger, but time also does a flip flop in Heavenly Host.)

Takeshi was already a Demon Slayer at this point.
Fon falls into a coma before the earthquake.
Ajin events begin pre-earthquake.
Verde infiltrated the experimental stages of the Wretched Egg.

These are my base character notes on Kenjaku. I encourage muns who interact with my Kenjaku muse to read the tl/dr section of this post, so we can be on the same page about how I intend to portray this character. This post would get incredibly long if I included every canon reference that I've built off of so I've only put some of them under the cut. My Domain Expansion takes and the Historical Timeline of Kenjaku's life will be fleshed out in a different post. I also am not mentioning anything about the Itadori or Kamo families here as this is just meant to be an overview of the character to aid in interactions. Thank you for reading ! ♥
TRIGGER WARNINGS: religion, gore, mentions of pregnancy
tl/dr ; Kenjaku ( 羂索 meaning 'Compassion' & 'Salvation' ) is a curse user with the innate ability to take over another's body, including the vessel's memories and cursed technique. This technique is largely known as 'body-hopping', however in essence, Kenjaku is a 'soul-eater'. Kenjaku's enlightenment pertains to the awareness of their own soul, which combines the physical ( flesh body ) & immaterial ( cursed energy ) and subsequent application of that awareness through jujutsu.
Even though Kenjaku appears to be more of an entity due to their anciency, they did use to be a person at one point. However, they have lost most of their personality traits while living all those different lives, latching onto their obsession with cursed energy as it gradually became their sole defining trait. Even though they present as a skeptic, nihilistic atheist, Kenjaku is agnostic in essence — as they do acknowledge the presence of things beyond their understanding ( the pure form of cursed energy is almost revered as a deity by them ) However, they have come to view the world of curses as less of a religiously spiritual thing and more as a pragmatic, palpable field that lends itself to experimentation.
Kenjaku can be described as an onmyoji, a seer, a scientist or a priest; but what sits at the core of their character is the same curiosity that has led humanity through its various evolutionary stages. Throughout the ages they have become a zealot to this impossible idea of optimizing cursed energy, so their motivations are no longer egotistical but rather verge on self-sacrificial as long as their will is carried on.
And the enlightened person is the same to all beings, differing in his attitude only in so far as all beings are different. He has the same sentiments for the high as for the low, for the wise as for the ignorant, for the noble-minded as for the immoral. — Buddha speaks about essence.
UNDER THE CUT:
Important headcanons
Brief Backstory Overview
Character skeleton
IMPORTANT HEADCANONS
Kenjaku can't truly be killed unless every physical part of their body is destroyed with cursed energy. Kenjaku's original body is preserved within the statue of Fukukenjaku Kannon in Nara. They posed as said bodhisattva for a time. It is a lacquer statue that functions as a sarcophagus. Because of the special grave wax used as a barrier to contain its residuals, no one except for Tengen would be aware of that fact.
They were not born with multiple limbs, but they were able to manifest them using soul amplification techniques. At one point, Kenjaku possessed several arms and three pupils in each eye that moved individually from each other. In their first life, they were originally female at birth. Kenjaku's original eye color is a deep blue that can later be traced in both the Zenin and Gojo bloodline. Their natural hair color is an inky black in contrast to pale skin that was heavily covered in ritual ink. Originally, the upper part of their head was shaved, meaning they were half-bald and the top of their head was marked with the same sigil appearing later on Culling Games' players — that being Kenjaku's signature seal.
Their brain has teeth because they use it to consume the one of the vessel they inhabit. By eating the brain, they consume the host's memories, cursed technique etc. In that way, Kenjaku literally steals the lives of those they inhabit, adding them to their own. ( By extension, a soul that is strong enough to withstand this procedure may continue to manifest while Kenjaku is in control of the body. Suguru Geto's reflexive reaction in Shibuya was the first time this has happened, however. )
Kenjaku's pact with Sukuna entailed showing Sukuna their own technique for transferring their soul into a cursed object. Since Sukuna could learn something by simply watching it, he would then be able to do the same in order to split himself into his fingers. The terms of this binding vow are only known between the two sorcerers. Other than the King of Curses, however, they are the only sorcerer with this ability.
Kenjaku is known by different names both across Japan and the west. The only reason why they never ventured outside their homeland was that Japan is the cursed energy pillar of the world, so there was no point for them to leave. Their technique enables them to speak any languages the vessel could speak prior.
During their many lives, Kenjaku has sired/birthed several children as part of their experimentations. Their cursed energy can be found in different sorcerer clan bloodlines as well.
Kenjaku's trademark symbols include the Thousand Year Crane bird and the Never Empty Lasso, which the avatar of Kannon, Fukukenjaku, uses to 'rope in' the people with her compassion. Their presence is so interwoven with religion in Japan that these symbols have acquired cultural significance. There are still cults worshipping them in Nara to this day.
BRIEF BACKSTORY OVERVIEW
During the Nara period, Kenjaku served as an acolyte to Tengen, who was spreading Buddhism in Japan at the time. Tengen was revered as a deity in both the sorcerer and non-sorcerer world. Through her sermons pertaining to self awareness, enlightement and The Soul, Tengen inadvertedly planted the seed for what would later become Kenjaku's obsession with cursed energy. Soon their pursuit of knowledge would bring them on par with the Goddess herself, which led to a rift in their blossoming friendship when Kenjaku's pursuits clashed with Tengen's conservative ways. Tengen became all the more reclusive while Kenjaku started experimenting with cursed energy through the forbidden art of kodoku. From the point of that fall out and onward, Kenjaku's obsession started to take over every aspect of their life, driving them to detachment and callousness. After perfecting their body-hop technique, they begun experimenting with the sorcerers of their time, often posing as a healer or a consultant to garner information from them. Kenjaku was a prominent figure in the Heian era because of their vast knowledge of jujutsu. Among other things, Kenjaku lived as a bodhisattva representing the compassionate deity of Kannon for some time, which has been the defining point of their own legend, in the same way Sukuna earned his back then. During this period they would perform 'miracles' for the faithful of their temples, while covertly they had begun their experimentations to understand how cursed energy interacted with humans, later on leading to the Death Painting experiments.
CHARACTER POINTS / SKELETON :
JUJUTSU KAISEN ( 呪術 廻戦 ) — the character 'kai' ( 廻 ) meaning 'revolve'/'go around' represents the theme of eternal cycles that is prevalent in the series. The Ten Shadows Technique, The Six Eyes, The Star Plasma Vessel; all cycles that continue to perpetuate so long as conditions are met. In the JJK world, the cycle is an expression of balance. Kenjaku, a sorcerer with a technique that immitates reincarnation, forcefully grafts themself into these cycles, thus disrupting said balance.
Sukuna, Kenjaku, Tengen: three characters who have achieved conditional immortality, each through a different means. Tengen, with the innate ability to be immortal yet corruptible, Kenjaku with a technique that would allow them to reincarnate and Sukuna with a method to preserve himself forever. The backstory here would be that Tengen was the one to be born with her immortality, whereas the other two had to achieve it. In Kenjaku's case, to discover the true potential of their technique needed to 'abstain from the physical'/leave their original body behind. Tengen and Sukuna are inherently 'in tune' with the nature of jujutsu, Tengen because she was born with the immortality technique and Sukuna because he seems to have possessed a unique talent for understanding jujutsu, apart from his power-hungry nature. The comparison between these three characters is meant to highlight the fact that, out of the three, Kenjaku is the one whose 'enlightenment' came through venturing into the study of cursed energy.
Tsukumo Yuki, the mirror: Kenjaku's 'mirror' is Yuki, as both their characters revolve around answering the question of what is mankind's next step in evolution. Yuki is the only person towards whom Kenjaku shows a personal dislike, as she has 'went through the same journey' / 'asked the same question ' as they once did, however she has reached a completely opposite conclusion, wanting to break away from cursed energy completely. This goes against everything Kenjaku believes; however they do express that they were content to find out she thinks the same way as they do.
Kenjaku's references to religion and prayer: In the fight against Takaba, Kenjaku has a random intrusive thought where they marvel upon Takaba's perfected prayer stance, saying they had not achieved such a symmetrical and deep stance until late into their twenties. This confirms that Kenjaku was practicing religion during their first life. Tengen being the one who helped spread Buddhism in Japan during the Nara period, it is very likely that Kenjaku was one of her acolytes.
Control & the fight with Takaba: Because of their long life experience and accumulated power, Kenjaku is a character that's always in control of the world around them. That came as a side effect of their obsession, originally. Going back to Buddhist philosophy, it is surrendering this need for control over all aspects in life and accepting the 'lull of the waves' in the sea of samsara that brings one to a state of peace. Kenjaku expresses this covert intuition both outwardly ( I need to create chaos that is beyond my control ) and inwardly during the fight with Fumihiko Takaba. When the fight begins, Kenjaku's instinct is to try and get control of the situation by dismantling his technique and focusing on staying composed. When they realize that there is no emotional manipulation aspect on Takaba's end, however, they begin to surrender that control and indulge a sense of playfulness and curiosity that's almost childlike, revealing a more human aspect to their character. In the end, Kenjaku admits that they are glad they did the Culling Game for no reason other than having genuinely found this carefree sense of connection and joy after bonding over their shared love for comedy.
( I will probably add more to this in the future or as I re-read the manga, but for now this was getting incredibly long so I'm stopping here xD thanks for reading! ♥ )

"Miquella awaits the return of his promised lord."
I don't think the player is Miquella's promised lord, nor any other Tarnished.
The player character's position in the narrative.
The player's character is a character explicitly labeled as a Tarnished of no renown. They were never a lord at the outset.
On top of that, you aren't Elden Lord or the Lord of the Frenzied Flame until you trigger the end cutscenes. Your character can defeat the Elden Beast, but the title only sticks once you trigger the end. Until that point, they haven't actually assumed power.
DLCs in Fromsoft games also don't do post-game things. A lot of games do, like how you can finish the main quests in stuff like the later Elder Scrolls games or Witcher 3, but still keep playing and how the DLCs can be scaled for that. Fromsoft have their DLCs be something that must be done before triggering the ending if you want to play them.
Timeline stuff with Tarnished
There's the timeline regarding the Tarnished as a group. Godfrey and his followers who became Tarnished all left the Lands Between before Miquella was born. Miquella was born of Marika and Radagon's union, and the story makes it clear that this was after Godfrey was gone.
And the Tarnished only started returning after Miquella cocooned himself and started doing whatever he was doing in the Land of Shadow. There is no overlap in time where the Tarnished and Miquella's soul were in the Lands Between, except perhaps as whatever is going on with St. Trina.
Time travel (or lack thereof)
It's confirmed that this isn't going to involve time travel. While a lot of the story seems to be focused on historical revisionism and the situation with Marika as she became a god, this is something which was confirmed- no time travel.
This means there is no weird time loop of Miquella having met the player in the DLC in the past, the player promising to be his lord, and then the player subsequently returning to those lands.
DLC Endings (or lack thereof)
Allegedly, the DLC won't affect the base game and vice-versa wrt things like endings.
And, honestly, it would've been a bad idea to gate an ending off like that.
Because the endings in Elden Ring are all set up out the gate. We get introduced to the Tarnished associated with the three mending rune endings in the intro cinematic and the latest any of their quests starts is at Leyndell (Dung Eater). Shabriri points us to the Frenzied Flame post-Morgott, but Yura and the frenzied flame stuff is established before Shabriri enters the scene. Ranni shows up very early in once the player has Torrent.
So gating an ending past a secret boss in an endgame area and going through a whole separate DLC quest would be absolutely bonkers in terms of commitment. (In which case, it would need to be a damn good ending, like some kind of ending that everyone would agree is the best ending for the whole setting.)
However, I am curious of if they'll have the DLC having multiple endings for the DLC specifically or not.

I love when I see soul eater AUs so much ahhhh the fact it’s not more common as an AU type is so baffling to me like soul resonance??? The bond between weapon and Miester? AHHH the dynamics! The way expectations can be subverted so perfectly- I love it
Do you have more Trigun soul eater AU ideas for like weapon and Miester pairs?
omg no bc literally like theres so much potential in sm areas w an au like this i couldn't help myself
right now I'm still straightening ideas out in my brain and I don't want things to get Too convoluted but I have a few ideas I can share rn
to answer ur question before i go on a tangent, obv vashwood are paired together though not at first (possibly considering at first vash is paired with livio ?). i think i want vash to be a meister because this presents a few opportunities for parallels between canon and the au w/ there being at least one incident beyond his control but because he's the meister he feels he holds some level of responsibility
maybe while he and livio are acquiring their witch soul something happens (maybe w/ livio's eye i truly have no idea) but they do manage to get it and vash is paired w/ wolfwood afterwards (kinda want him to be in the NOT class when he 1st enrolls if not for grades for the idea of making space so livio could get in idk how the system works ngl)(or mayb he and livio don't get it and livio decides not to be in the EAT class idk i'm not killing him off though idc idc)
other pairings i'm really not as sure about (i'm not well versed in trigunism it's just my current hyfix and i'm literally going to start trimax after this bc i oeuwgwh anyway) like i think meryl and milly would be really good w/ my limited understanding of milly's personality. i also don't want to overload this w dead-ended info and sound like that one twitter post (why's hoseok the bus driver....) but um alberto is a teacher at the DWMA during like the 2nd of 3rd yr of Vash + Nai's enrollment (i have a timeline for the lore bc they're like grown by the time canon rolls around . sorry to infodump over a single question genuinely but i can't talk abt this on twitter bc it's SCARY over there .. i'm catfishing as someone cool -guy who's failing)
also because i think vash wielding the punisher is cool as fuck cough (feat. wip i will never finish bc idfk how to draw him)
Tumblr media
anyway though, vash as a meister also appeals to me because with nai as a weapon it quickly raises the question— why wouldn't they have just been paired together to begin with? i think that nai doesn't even test into the EAT class when they're first enrolled. maybe it's a fluke where he just needs a single point, maybe he completely bombs it, maybe it's just nerves, either way he doesn't get in and this is where he and vash find out they are not compatible as weapon and meister as much as they care about eachother
i also think that this would seed some doubt in nai's mind about how he perceives others vs how he is perceived, esp w/ a certain INCIDENT before they're enrolled in the DWMA and ohhhh i have so much i could say abt this (i accidentally centered what i wrote abt this au so far Largely abt his POV because he's always running around my skull like a hamster to a wheel he's like almond butter to me . anyway)
a little bit late but i had to sit down and dedicate myself to this post bc it needed my utmost attention but more ppl should ask me questions abt this pretty please i love talking So Bad

AO3 Wrapped (Writer Version)
Tagged by @suzie-shooter and @lastlymatt!  This was a rough year for me writing wise, as I was largely involved in the Harry Potter fandom and JKR's continued appalling behavior just killed any and all motivation I had, with, you know, my fics, and I had to do some serious soul searching about what I was going to with my fics.  Throw in, you know, feels about all of the 2020s and it was not a productive year AT ALL.  At least until october, at which point I got inspired again in a new fandom (Alex Rider!!!!) which kicked me into actually writing again
Works Published: Nothing new, but I did update two fics.
Word Count:  49,675 (this...cannot be right. I can only assume it's aggregate stats for the two fics I did update over their lifetime.  But I'm not doing math, so this is what we're getting).
Hits: 54,593
Bookmarks: 1,968
Most Popular by Kudos: Good Intentions Five year old Harry Potter meets and befriends a seventeen year old Tom Riddle while hanging out at his dad’s station. James Potter decides to take Tom under his wing, using Tom’s connection with Harry to try and keep the teen grounded, even as he begins to investigate the Death Eaters, a dangerous organized crime group and their mysterious leader only known as Lord Voldemort
Most Hits: Good Intentions
Longest: Good Intentions
Shortest: Matelotage In the aftermath of his ship’s capture by the pirate crew of the Voldemort, Second Lieutenant Potter of the Royal Navy is taken hostage, held ransom for his uncle’s fortune. However, the longer he stays aboard the Voldemort, the more confused Harry becomes about where his duty truly lies. Matters are not helped by the charismatic Captain Riddle, the man responsible for the death of Harry’s parents, a man determined to pry all of Harry’s secrets from him by whatever means necessary.
Most Comment Threads: Good Intentions
Fic that made me cry:  None?  I mean, nothing this year.  Except maybe in frustration over my inability to get words down lol
Fic that made me smile: Matelotage is actually a lot of fun and means that I get to do a bunch of research into the age of sail. Also, you know, I love me a sassy smart-ass and that side of Harry is in full form here
Gifts: I started working on a few alex rider kinkmeme fills, but nothing formal
Collaborations: none
Events: NaNoWriMo!  I did managed to hit the wc goal, but the fic itself is such a complicated, bloated beast that I don't think it's going to be ready to post anytime soon. I'm going to at least need a solid timeline of the fic if not a complete draft before I start posting it, I think, especially because the stuff that might end up changed is at the beginning.
Coming in 2023:  So many Alex Rider fics! Hoping to finish up Play with Fire (a kinkmeme fill for a soulmate au) by january and post that properly, and have a BUNCH of longer fics I want to finish up. Also want to get back into trying to update at least one HP WIP a month so that I can hopefully FINALLY get those done.
tagging: @kelkblr, @monsieurclavier, @checkeredmice and @countessrivers (if they want to! No pressure!) along with anyone else who wants to play and hasn't already :)

Kicking things off with a post talking about Blaze and the Sol Empire.
Tumblr media
Blaze resides in the Sol Dimension — a universe than runs parallel to Sonic's world, a.k.a the Prime Dimension. While the two obviously have their differences, there are plenty of similarities as well; chaos emeralds vs sol emeralds being an example.
The Kingdom of Sol, also known as the Sol Empire, is an extensive group of islands ruled over by the current acting monarch. It's been active for many years and carries a strong maritime tradition, due to the ocean that hugs their borders. With a powerful navy, bountiful resources, and a highly affluent economy, Sol is thriving.
In recent years, Blaze had her coronation and is now the only sovereign of Sol. Her formal title is King; one she chose herself after a long family history of Queens. During her time as Princess, she would frequently carry out royal duties by herself; not much has changed, aside from the level of responsibility.
But responsibility has never scared her, given the past she's endured.
Blaze's lineage comes with a secret. It's followed her ancestors — specifically, reigning monarchs — for many, many years, and finally found it's way to her the day of her mother's death. The gift (a burden, she used to say) of flame. A soul covered in fire. The deity called Iblis.
History tells the tale of two gods, equal halves, revered by all. Iblis the Radiant, god of the sun, and Mephiles the Dark, god of time; co-existing, never one without the other. They would maintain the harmony of this world for centuries... until one day, Mephiles went astray. Without it's other half, Iblis lost control and filled the land with a raging inferno. They brought about mass destruction, and the Sol Dimension was nearly lost.
Thankfully, a hero rose up — the original Queen of Sol. A warrior with boundless courage, who led her kingdom to prosperity and faced their demise with no fear. Using her scepter and The Power of the Stars, she sealed Mephiles away inside it, nullifying all power. With no room left in the wand, she was forced to lock Iblis away elsewhere... inside her very soul. The two became one, and both gods were now in their eternal tombs. History would remember her as The Goddess of the Flames.
Blaze doesn't remember much about her mother. She was only young when she passed, and her farewell gift was a ritual that bestowed her a god. But she remembers her sharing this story, and how proud she was of their history. It took a long time for her to even begin to understand that sentiment. On bad days, she still doesn't.
The events of Sonic Rush introduce us to the story of '06. With Sol and Prime being linked ("like the north and south poles of a magnet..."), colliding into one another, the stability between them starts to fray. It's when Blaze goes Burning Blaze, and Sonic into Super Sonic, that the dimensions finally merge, creating the stage for '06. The Sol Empire becomes Soleanna, Elise is sealed with Iblis, and the Jeweled Scepter becomes the Scepter of Darkness. Blaze is sent into the future during all of the chaos, where she meets Silver.
Blaze loses her memories during all of this and only retains her fire powers as some kind of fragmented anomaly of what once was. Her and Elise are twin flames /haha.
When Blaze seals Iblis inside herself, a part of the timeline "corrects" itself and she is sent back to the Sol Dimension. You can briefly see her turning into Burning Blaze, since she's returning to the point in time when everything broke.
Solaris is "gone" when Elise blows out the flame at the end of the game. The only version of Iblis remaining is with Blaze in the Sol Dimension, and the remnants of Mephiles turn into the Time Eater. Some things stick around, such as Soleanna, because time is weird like that. Whatever.
Shenanigans continue like normal.

It's still going to be some time before I get a better sense when exactly Ohkubo decided to do the twist he did with Fire Force. But an interview from MyAnimeList helps.
(So, spoilers for Fire Force below.)
Maybe it's not as helpful to ask "When did Ohkubo decide to make this a Soul Eater prequel?" I have banged my head against the wall, because it just doesn't work: there is enough stuff in Soul Eater that is contradicted by Fire Force, and there is enough stuff in Fire Force that is literally just Easter eggs but by their existence screw up the supposed timeline (Spirit showing up in that awful Assault chapter, the Excalibur plushies in the anime).
So, the more helpful question to ask is, "Did Ohkubo intend on including hints throughout Fire Force so that, once he felt comfortable, he could either confirm this is a prequel or just ignore those hints?" And I think that is the more likely scenario: the stuff was there so that he could make this a prequel if he wanted, but if he didn't, then they are just Easter eggs. I can be wrong on this, this is just a guess based on the interview by Naruleach for MyAnimeList.
Quoting from the interview:
Naruleach: "In the manga, your editor's favorite character, Arthur, wields a sword named Excalibur, just like King Arthur did according to legend. And this, of course, is not the first time an Excalibur appeared in your work. Between the Excalibur in Enen no Shouboutai and the Excalibur in Soul Eater, which do you think is more powerful?"
Ohkubo: "Well, it's a personal story. The Excalibur in Soul Eater, it talks and talks so much—it's terribly annoying. Even though it's a sword with great power, no one uses it because it's too annoying. There is no sword here, but the original intent of Excalibur was a character no one found useful, and Arthur in this story also became a foolish character that people only find lightly useful. I think they are strongest when paired."
That line--"they are the strongest when paired together": maybe I'm misreading, but couldn't you take it as "Excalibur in Soul Eater and Arthur in Fire Force are strongest when paired together"? And how else could they pair up unless it was in the same continuity? That seems like a strong indication that he had a sense of how he was going to wrap up Fire Force with the prequel nonsense by the time of this interview, which was posted in September 2019.
Timeline:
September 2015: Fire Force manga begins serialization.
January 2018: Fire Force Chapter 111, having already introduced Inca, starts the exploration of the Chinese peninsula, which pretty much sets up everything that leads to the finale and that stupid twist (the flexibility of physics, the past world, the first witch).
November 2018: Fire Force anime announced.
July 2019: Fire Force anime premieres.
September 2019: Ohkubo makes that comment about Arthur and Excalibur.
February 2022: Fire Force manga ends.
So, if I had to take a guess, he may have committed to the prequel nonsense about two years into the series, having already set up the option to pursue it earlier with just the Easter eggs before saying, screw it. As much as I hate this prequel nonsense, it seems more likely it wasn't an ass-pull--it was just a poorly executed attempt at an idea he may have had since the beginning but didn't commit to until some time between January 2018 and September 2019.
And January 2018 would have been enough time for whatever talks his publisher was having with David Pro about an anime, which may have forced him to commit to an ending (the prequel nonsense) so that he knew what to say to David Pro so they go into the first seasons with enough knowledge for how to set up stuff for the finale. (That still doesn't explain the Soul Eater Easter eggs that pop up in the Fire Force anime that screw up this prequel nonsense--the Excalibur plushie, the Excalibur face, Toru Okawa reprising the role as Spirit because that is literally Spirit in Fire Force talking about Maka when he is not alive at that point and shouldn't be talking about Maka who isn't even born yet.)
Maybe I'm wrong on all of this, so, feedback is appreciated.
