My first ever fandom. And also the first to introduce my characters Catzi and Bast. I love this series so much. T-T Though I only care about the original one. GX, 5Ds, ect, yeah I could give a shit about those because honestly, they were just made to keep the game Duel Monsters going. None of the characters or stories in them ever interest me unlike the original YGO. Anyway, for this picture, I decided to draw up all the main characters of YGO. And yes, that includes Ryou Bakura. One thing I hate about the anime is how much they neglect poor Ryou. I never understood why. Which is why in the series I am rewriting, he will be in a lot more. You're going to see how. Also, this picture is a cover art for my rewriting YGO series on Quotev. Yes, I am rewriting the series. There will be major differences and it's not because my characters are in it. I make sure to put in whatever 4kids left out and change up some things like the dialouge and so on. So if anyone is interested, here is the link: https://www.quotev.com/story/12950712/Yu-Gi-Oh
Anyway, that is all I have to say on the matter. Man it feels good to be drawing these characters. T-T I missed them all so much!

Ryou's journey as The Fool
Have I told you how much I loved Taka’s symbolism? Like this one
Tumblr media
Interestingly, Ryou is depicted as The Fool here for some reason, him over a more obvious choice like Jonouchi. Although Ryou indeed fits the symbolism of The Fool in his own way. In fact, this peculiar choice of major arcana implies that he had an adventure of his own throughout the series, one that was significant to his character, as protagonists are commonly associated with it.
The Fool represents new beginnings, having faith in the future, being inexperienced, not knowing what to expect, having beginner's luck, improvisation and believing in the universe.
Beginnings, Spontaneity, Originality, Innocence, Leap of faith
After recovering from the events of Monster World, instead of throwing the Ring away, he desired to learn about the Millennium Items and perhaps also who Bakura was. Ryou saw the existence of the spirit of the Millennium Ring as his quest for knowledge instead of a nightmare that he must endure. He went all out in his little adventure by willingly letting the spirit take over as Bakura’s actions would lead him to new discoveries.
There was no external influence that lead him to this. Despite everyone’s concern, he kept believing in his actions and hoping for the best result. His beliefs were so unique that practically nobody in the series had the same train of thought as him and thus he could be seen as an eccentric.
Naivety, Poor judgement, Folly, Lack of direction, Stupidity, Chaos
Let’s be honest, no matter how much Ryou could have gained out of this quest, it was still extremely reckless to let someone as dangerous as Bakura out while his own consciousness was suppressed. Being the compassionate person he is, he gave Bakura a second chance of sorts, foolishly believing he wouldn’t hurt anyone else as long as he could keep him close. Ryou pretty much let Bakura guide him in a certain direction, showing his naivety as he underestimated his control over the Ring. As such, he let chaos rule over him.
Following the tarot will grant the positives while neglecting it brings the negatives. By following the tarot, Ryou should have grown out of his naive ideas regarding Bakura and the Ring and obtained the determination in what he decided what the best outcome should be for Bakura and himself.
By creating the diorama, instead of letting a greater force guide him, he tried to take fate in his own hands. Taking a part in Bakura’s scheme, as heinous as it was, would give him a better chance at sabotaging his evil plans if needed while still being able to gain insight into the Millennium Items and their purpose.
Despite failing in the end, he didn’t let it bring him down and still believed in a better future together with his friends. Had the story not neglect him, perhaps we would have seen a more meaningful conclusion to his character arc.

No Rest For The Wicked: A Thiefshipping Oneshot
So, all the way back in winter 2017, I signed up for @sitabethel‘s Thiefshipping Dirty Santa fanfiction-writing event. And then I promptly forgot about the whole thing, until today, when they reminded me about it. -_- I’m dumb as hell. So, it’s months late, but here’s the fic I wrote for the event!
The prompt I was given was “I’ll let you know all my flaws now, so you could love me better or leave me quicker.”
The flash of white, amongst all the dark hair and skin of the people of Cairo, caught Marik's eye immediately.
It was strange to be back in Egypt, after all the time he'd spent travelling the world with Rishid as the leader of the Ghouls. Running from the past, he admitted to himself. That was over now - after the tumultous events in Domino City, Japan, he'd resolved his grudge against the Pharoah, and accepted his role as a Tombkeeper. The Pharaoh - and his vessel, Mutou, should be coming to Egypt soon, Marik considered.  Ishizu foretells that the Ceremonial Duel will soon occur.
After the Pharoah moved on to the afterlife, what would become of the Ishtars? Marik's clan had been waiting to assist the Pharoah in his journey for thousands of years. Once his destiny was fulfilled - then what? Where did that leave them?
It leaves us to lead normal lives, finally, Rishid had said, earlier today. He seemed to be looking forward to it. Marik wasn't so sure. It wasn't easy to spend years despising a man and plotting to kill him, committing acts of thievery and violence at the head of a criminal gang, and then turn around and be....normal.
Marik was walking through a quaint open air market - the same one he'd stumbled through as a child, on his first day on the surface world. He still remembered how strange but beautiful it had felt, to feel the sun on his face and the sand under his feet, to see and hear so many people, when he was used to only seeing his family, and the darkness of the tomb. Now a grown man, he had seen many sights more splendid than this. But, his eyes still misted when he thought of how Ishizu had snuck him out, that first time.
She was always a good sister, he thought to himself. And how did I repay her? By running away, and threatening to do her harm if she pursued me. I have much to atone for.
He had done harm to young Yugi Mutou's friends, as well. He had kidnapped them, and seized control of their minds. They would surely accompany the Pharoah when he came to Egypt to fulfill his destiny. He could not blame them if they looked at him with eyes of hate.
He was thinking of all he'd done while in Japan....the games he had played, the  people he had hurt, and the one man, that he had loved. And then suddenly he was there.
That long, white hair. The clearly Japanese features of his host, when everyone else in the crowd was Middle Eastern or African. That beaten up black coat that he always wore.
"Bakura!" Marik cried, and tore off running, after the man. They'd been allies in Battle City, plotting together to defeat the Pharaoh. At first, Bakura had clearly only coveted Marik's Millennium Rod. But as time went on, their relationship had become....more than that. And on the blimp where the tournament finals were held, in the darkness of Marik's room, before the final battle had commenced, they had become lovers.
A night so passionate.....Marik refused to believe that it had meant nothing to the Spirit of the Ring. But after that, everything had changed. Marik had discovered that the Pharaoh did not kill his father, as Shaadi had led him to believe. His father's blood was instead on his own hands, and he'd created a whole other personality to conceal that truth from himself. The shock of this revelation had sent Marik reeling. He had done his Tombkeeper duty, and shown the Pharaoh the markings on his back. But, after that, he had returned to Egypt with his siblings, deeply uncertain of his future.
But, one thing he was certain of: he still yearned for Yami Bakura. His co-conspirator, his equal in dueling, the best lay of his life. What was he doing here?
"Bakura, slown down!" Marik cried, catching up to the pale haired man, and seizing him by the wrist. The Spirit turned to him, and smirked.
"Hello, Marik. It's been a while, hasn't it?"
"Why have you come here?" Marik demanded.
"I think, deep down, you know," Bakura said, his red eyes staring into Marik's violet ones.
For a second, Marik thought, to be with me, but he knew that was wishful thinking. "The Pharaoh is coming to Egypt soon," Marik realized. "You've come here to kill him."
"You may have abandoned your plot against the Pharaoh," Bakura nodded, "but my goals remain the same as they were the day you met me."
"To get revenge," Marik guessed. "In Battle City, that was what we both wanted. But, you never really explained to me, what it was that you sought vengeance for. What did the Pharaoh do to you?"
Bakura wrenched his wrist from Marik's grip, and backed away from him. "I have been carrying this grudge for three thousand years," he confessed. "I won't let some teenage boy who suddenly wants  to be a goody two shoes stand in my way."
"I didn't say that I was going to stop you," Marik muttered. Perhaps they should be discussing this elsewhere, away from prying eyes.
"Does that mean," Bakura asked, his lip beginning to curl upwards, "that you're going to help me? I thought you'd switched sides."
"I'm on my own side," Marik insisted. "I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do, because I'm not sure what you're plotting, or what your reasons are. I want to hear your explanation, before I do anything."
Bakura raised an eyebrow.
"Besides," Marik admitted, "if I said I was going to try and stop you, you would probably kill me."
"I would hate to have to kill you," Bakura chuckled. "I am rather fond of you, after all." Marik blushed, in spite of himself. "Can we go somewhere more quiet, so we can talk this over?"
"I think I know just the place," Bakura said, and began walking off into the distance, towards the desert. "Follow me." %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% They wandered past the outskirts of the city, towards the Pyramids, and the tombs where Marik had grown up. They traversed over sandy dunes in umcomfortable silence for what seemed like hours.
"Where are we going?" Marik asked finally. "Are you sure you're not lost?"
"I was born here, just like you," Bakura reminded. "A very long time ago."
"In the days when the Pharaoh, and the first owner of my Rod, walked the earth," Marik nodded.
"He was a right bastard," Bakura huffed.
"Who?" Marik blinked. "Set, the Pharoah's high priest," Bakura explained.
"That was the original Rod wielder's name?" Marik blinked.
"Didn't your clan teach you the Millennium Items' history?" Bakura questioned.
"I was always a poor student," Marik confessed. He'd rather be running through the torch lit hallways with Rishid, playing games. Father always scolded him for neglecting his studies.
"What exactly did they tell you, about where the Items came from?" Bakura demanded, a strange look on his face.
"The Pharaoh and his priests wielded the Millennium Items to protect the kingdom," Marik recalled from his lessons.
"Protect it from whom?" Bakura questioned.
"From evildoers," Marik shrugged. "Father always said he would tell me the whole story when I came of age. But he.....met his end when I was still a child."
"The enemy the Millennium Item holders were fighting against," Bakura confessed, "was me."
Marik stopped in his tracks, almost slamming into Bakura, who was walking in front of him. It tripped him out, truthfully, that the man who had ridden on the back of his motorcycle, kissed him on an airship, played cutting edge holographic card games with him, was a three thousand year old spirit, who had lived and died while the Pyramids were still being built.
"I killed them," Bakura continued, his tone cold and unrepentant. "I was responsible for the death of Karim, who wielded the Millennium Scales, and Shada, who wielded the Millennium Key. And, of course, Mahad, the original owner of this Ring." He looked down at the glittering gold of the Millennium Item around his neck.
"The Tombkeepers watched over the Scales and the Key all my life," Marik recalled. He didn't like to think about his childhood this much. "The Ring....I remember we had it in our possession, when I was young. One day, Father was spitting with rage. He said some treasure hunter - a foreigner - had stolen it."
"My host's father," Bakura nodded. "Bakura Rokuro."
Marik was not sure it had truly hit him, until this moment, that the face and body before his eyes, which he had kissed and touched not so long ago, did not really belong to the spirit he was speaking to. His real body must be buried, mummified, under these sands somewhere.
"Bakura is not even your real name," Marik realized. "But the name of your host."
"Yes, Bakura Ryou is simply my vessel," the Spirit of the Ring nodded. "When all this is over...he will wake up confused. He won't know where he is, or who you are. Try to ensure that he makes it back to Domino City in one piece."
"Does that mean that 'when all this is over'....you won't be coming back?" Marik frowned.
"Once my thirst for revenge has been slaked, at last," Bakura replied, "my spirit will be at peace, and then, I suppose I can rest."
"In the afterlife?" Marik guessed.
"Where else would a ghost go?" Bakura chuckled.
"Aren't you worried what will happen when your heart is weighed against the feather of Ma'at?" Marik worried. "Don't you fear judgement for your sins?"
"Do you fear judgement for yours?" Bakura asked. The question pierced Marik like a knife.
"I can't judge you for your crimes," Marik sighed. "In Battle City....I wouldn't have cared if Katsuya had drowned, or that safe had fallen on Mazaki and crushed her. Or if Pandora's legs had been sliced off by that saw. Or if Hikari no Kamen and Yami no Kamen had fallen off that building to their deaths....."
"Thankfully," Bakura chuckled, "the Pharaoh helped all your foolish pawns escape with their lives."
"What did the Pharaoh do to you?" Marik asked again. "I've realized...I don't anything about you at all. Bakura isn't even your real name. What did they call you, in your mortal life?"
"Most knew me as the Thief King," the Spirit of the Ring revealed.
"That's not a name," Marik pointed out. "That's a title."
"My true name doesn't matter," Bakura shrugged. "I will not exist in this modern world much longer anyway, after my plan is complete."
"What are you planning?" Marik demanded, his voice raising. "Why did you come back to me, just to leave me again?"
"I want you to know the truth about who I was," Bakura explained. "There is no soul left in this world who remembers the Thief King. The Pharaoh is the only person I once knew who still walk this earth - and he has no memory of who I am, or why I despise him. When he regains his memories, his time on this plane will end. They say you only live as long as people remember you. And you, Marik Ishtar, are perhaps the only person on Earth who will remember me with fondness."
"I'll miss you," Marik admitted. "I was hoping you and I could be together again."
"I wish that could be," Bakura said, his voice full of passion as he looked into Marik's eyes. "I wish I could be your lover, like I was before." He leaned in close, and his lips touched Marik's. Desire coursed through the Tombkeeper's body, and soon his hands were in the Spirit's long hair, pulling him closer, desperate.
Reluctantly, Bakura pulled away. "But, this cannot be," he sighed. "I do not belong in the land of the living. My spirit lingers here for one purpose - my vengeance."
Marik understood this. He had desired vengeance against the Pharaoh for many years, and that  misguided goal had driven all of his actions. Now, he felt adrift, without the mission that had motivated him for so long.
"You wielded the power of the Millennium Rod, when you sought your vengeance," Bakura recalled. "But, do you know where the power of the Millennium Items comes from?"
"Dark magic," Marik guessed.
"The darkest kind," Bakura agreed. "The kind that comes from the most evil and heinous of rituals."
Marik blinked in the bright desert sun, confused. He and his clan had been watching over the Millennium Items for centuries, waiting for the Pharaoh's return. But, in all his studies, he was never taught how the Items had been created.
"Human sacrifice," Bakura revealed, staring down at the Ring around his neck. "The blood and bones and souls of an entire village were melted down with the gold, imbuing them with cursed power."
Marik gasped, horrified. He realized then where Bakura had brought him. They were standing on the ruins of an ancient city. Broken columns and shells of buildings, half-buried in the sand, were all that remained of the once-populous village.
"This is all that's left of Kul Elna," Bakura explained, gesturing at the remnants. They looked like an archeological site. "The village that was massacred by the Pharaoh to create the Millennium Items. My village."
Marik's hand went to his mouth. He had endured horrors in his lifetime - hieroglyphics carved painfully into his unwilling back. An evil alter ego arising from the trauma of patricide. Horrible things - but none quite as horrible as witnessing a genocide.
"I'm so sorry, Thief King," he said, putting an arm around his lover.
Bakura backed away from his touch. "I don't need your shoulder to cry on," he laughed. "I only need the Pharoah's suffering and death, as retribution for the suffering and death of my family."
Marik's eyes widened, unsure of what to say. He, too, had once wished "suffering and death" upon the Pharaoh. But, now he regretted his actions.
"I am not some victim, who deserves your sympathy," Bakura confessed. "I am a thief, and a stealer of souls. I killed the masters of the Ring, Key, and Scales, and I felt no remorse. I am responsible for the death of Isis, as well, who wielded the Millennium Necklace. Her soul seems to have returned in this century, as your sister. No wonder she despises me."
"Why are you tellling me this?" Marik asked, feeling uneasy.
"I'm letting you know all my flaws now," Bakura explained, "so you could love me better, or leave me quicker."
"You want my love?" Marik said, confused. "I thought you only wanted your revenge."
"I want to be with you, one last time, before my soul rests," Bakura said, looking desperately into Marik's eyes. "One more night in your beautiful arms, before I condemn myself to Hell. Is that too much to ask?"
Marik reddened. He wanted this man, that much was true. He'd yearned for another taste of his touch since he left Domino City. And yet....
"But you're on the side of the angels now," Bakura chuckled. "Or at least, men who think they are angels. They assume that theirs is the just side. You and your family promised to help them, right? The Pharaoh, and his vessel, Yugi Mutou, and his friends."
"Yes," Marik admitted. "When they come to Egypt, Ishizu and I are supposed to help them restore the Pharaoh's name and memories, and commence the Ceremonial Duel."
"When they come to Egypt," Bakura said plainly, "I am going to play a Shadow Game with the Pharaoh, and I am going to make him pay. I will be doing my best to prevent him from recovering his name - the task you say you plan to help him with. And I do not care whatsoever if the Pharaoh's friends - who now seem to consider you their ally  - are caught in the crossfire."
"Why reveal your plan to me?" Marik asked. "Why not lie?"
"I want to know if you will leave me, knowing what kind of  man I am," Bakura confided. "I want to know if you will try and stop me. Will you warn young Mutou-san that I'm after his so-called yami? Will you try and protect the Pharaoh, who, as a Tombkeeper, you're sworn to serve?"
"I don't hate the Pharaoh anymore," Marik said, uncertainly. "But, I do still love you, even knowing your true nature. I cannot stop my heart from loving you, or my body from wanting you, regardless of the flaws you confess to me. I will not 'leave you quicker'. I want to stay with you until the end."
"You can stay with me all night long," Bakura whispered seductively. "One last, blissful night- but, come morning, the Pharaoh's plane will arrive in Cairo, and I will do what I have waited to do for three millennia."
"I won't stop you," Marik decided. "I will send the Pharoah to the place he is destined to go, fulfilling my role as a Tombkeeper. Once he gets there.....whether he wins your game, or you do....that is up to the Gods."
"You wielded the power of the Gods once," Bakura recalled.
"Yes," Marik sighed. "But, I have long since surrendered my Winged Dragon of Ra to the Pharaoh."
"He will use it against me in our duel," Bakura predicted. "You have made my coming battle much harder to win."
"My other self used Ra to defeat you in Battle City," Marik remembered.
"Well, that's your other self," Bakura shrugged. "I carry a grudge against him, not you." "He's gone now," Marik said seriously. "For good this time."
"I wanted you to regain control of your body," Bakura confessed. "Not simply because I wanted your Millennium Rod, but because I wanted what was best for you."
"You tried to help me win control of myself back," Marik nodded. "I will always be grateful to you for that, Thief King."
"I have spent millennia haunting this Ring, waiting for my final faceoff with the Pharaoh," Bakura said thoughtfully. "And tomorrow, I will have it. But, I never expected that I would find someone who I cared for. It is, at last, my time to settle the score, and  leave this plane - but I wish I did not have to leave you, Marik.”
"I won't leave you until I have to," Marik promised. "I'll give you my love, and I'll give you tonight, and I won't regret it."
"Even though, when morning light comes, I'll set off to kill your king?"
"I wish you could stay," Marik sighed. "I wish you could be mine forever. But, perhaps, when I die, our souls will be reunited, on the other side of the Du'at."
"Then may Osiris have mercy on our wicked souls," Bakura laughed, and kissed Marik again. For now, his soul still resided in Bakura Ryou's body - and that body would know no sleep tonight.

Yet another rmunday meme || ѩ Җ ᚡ ෴ ☢
ѩ: Are there any characters that you love, but simply cannot role play?
YES! ;A;
Many, many, many where do I even begin? Is it okay if I just start crying instead? D8 Nnnngggghhh Also honestly.. I shouldn’t even be playing YM… I should actually just play as myself since I feel I’m the only person I can, personality-wise, tap into.
Here’s a list:Villamax from Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy. YOU DON’T LOVE HIM, YOU’RE WRONGDiviot from Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy because why the fuck not he’s basically the same as YM and his voice is also pornEcliptor from Power RangersCyclopter from Power Rangers (the blue robotic guy)Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender.Zaheer from Avatar: The Legend Of Korra.Bolin from Avatar: The Legend Of Korra.Riddick from Pitch Black.Remfire from Biker Mice From MarsDonatello, Leonardo and Raphael from TMNT.Also Karai… Angel.Altaïr from Assassin’s Creed 1/bloodlines/Revelations.Claudia from Assassin’s Creed IIRyou Bakura, Yugi Moto, Tea Gardner from YGONath don’t tell me you didn’t see this coming. Also can I steal your Chiyoh?Bigwig from Watership Down. …Lets do Keehaar also. But all these characters are out of my reach and even if I could, I suppose most of the fandoms they are from are either dead or they are not highly wanted characters(?) There’s also plenty I’ve forgotten, I’m sure, so these are really on the top of my list.
Җ:   What’s your greatest source of inspiration when it comes to role playing? *Points at the friend asking this* Do I need to anymore go on, on how much I adore your writing? Because I absolutely will. My-ohh-mai, dejaouija… HOLY FUCKING SHIT I can’t even begin how flawless dejaouija writes out action mixed with setting mixed creativity mixed with…. FFFFFFFFfffff
And then there is me writing like “fill in spoken sentence.” Said YM “another said thing” He continued saying. I need practice. I need practice very badly ^^; And then there’s many people that I fawn at their writing don’t think I’m ignoring you, I see you all on my dash and I love 8DD
Ohh.. It’s a ‘what?’ and not a ‘who?’
Umm… Well… Then I guess I want to bring more attention to Marik because he deserves to be loved by all. And I want to empathize on all the other aspects on him that have been completely neglected. Cuz it pains my heart that he’s just simply shoven away as this.. Idk.. Simple one layered character that doesn’t get more than a thought or two spent on him. And I just know that he has more to offer than the show lets on.. Whether he himself even knows it or not.
I’m exposing this asshole for all his greatness >D
ᚡ:Random fact about the mun?Eeehhhh…. I’m really bad at these things cuz I really don’t do much other than roleplaying a psychopath and loving buns…So I don’t really know what I can add to that.. I love doom.. But it’s in my about mun info I think… I am the most terrible person when it comes to holding a conversation but I think I already said that somewhere as well…
I used to collect stuffed animals since the day I was born, and it was a shared hobby between my brother and I (who is four years younger than me) so when I was 14/15 we used to visit the thrift store and buy loooooooooooooooots of stuffed animals for like… 10 cents.. or 40 cents.. really.. the most expensive ones were like 2 euros.. And we did that for quite a while. Those days are past now and I’ve kept only the ones that mean most to me.
Still, I have 8 garbage-sized bags full of them.. I’m donating 20 bags to children in far away poor countries.
෴:  Tell us about your dayThank you! But nothing to say, really. I spent all my day in bed listening to music and just.. Not doing anything cuz period’s giving me a hard time hating on me so I haven’t been able to eat all day or so the slightest at all :\ I have a spastic bowel and it’s something chronic and it tends to get irritated when I’m on “those days” so whenever that is the case, which it is now, I’m in for a very unconfortable three days @.@
I also think Appa is going to be down with something again, he’s been sneezing and trying to clean his face all day and his nose looks rather runny. (Also this is from 3 days ago)I took Appa out, yesterday, with Fluffa’s buggy since I didn’t want him to miss out on the nicer weather being kept in my room all day because of his health continuously going up and down. He’s doing much better now, his nose was so dirty but it looks fine at the moment.
☢:When was the last time you went to the cinema? What movie did you watch?Uhhhh…. I think that was with my birthday two years ago? I went to see Jurassic World with my sister cuz she always insists we should go to the movies but I don’t really like the movies because you have to wait so long for the movie to actually start and also people in your seat… It’s rather a hassle so I prefer to watch movies from TV using DVD.
I only make special exceptions if it’s about a character I love or a subject. Such as dinosaurs, or Riddick…

So I haven’t actually reread the Monster World Arc in the manga for a good while (although I checked a couple of details). So far as I can tell, most of the actual game plays are the same as in the manga (except for Miho’s inclusion) but it’s a tossup whether any piece of dialogue is filler or not. So *huh hmm* we’re going to play a little game. It’s called ‘try to infer what the hell Takahashi might have been planning to do (or not planning to do bc I’m not entirely sure any planning went into any of this) with Yami Bakura’s character before the manga got axed and everyone got distracted by Kaiba, based on this unfaithful adaptation of his work’.
Tumblr media
"Role playing means to play a role. The players act as their characters and enter a world of adventures. That is what makes this game popular.”
I guess the question is- is this why this game is appealing to Ryou/TKB/Zorc? The question of identity has always been strong regarding the Bakurae. And not a question that was ever answered, in contrast to Yuugi and Atem. Y!Bakura also often imitates Ryou as one of his tactics. Does he like acting? Should he go to acting school postcanon? Does his affinity for acting mean that the obfuscation regarding his individuality and identity is somewhat purposeful on his part? What could he be so intent on hiding?
Tumblr media
Also perhaps a pointed statement. An enemy concealing themselves as a friend is something both Y!Bakura and Malik seem prone to. But maybe more interesting in that TKB sees Atem and the Pharaoh’s Court as enemies that have concealed themselves in their opulence and authority. Hiding in plain sight.
In any case, fun and games are now over.
Tumblr media
Miho faints and gets trapped in her figurine - (she’s so cute~) - and everyone loses their shit.
Tumblr media
Jounouchi’s hair also loses its shit. I’m not sure what’s going on with it.
Honda runs in to roll a critical to save Miho. Even though it’s neither his turn, or does he have a skillset that would allow him to do so.
Tumblr media
Y!Bakura then proceeds to trap his soul in his figurine as well, as punishment for rolling when it’s not his turn. Is that a real offense the DM can punish? Because that sounds fake. Very fake.
The more important part, though, is that you know Ryou also gets angry when he’s DM-ing and people get belligerent and roll when it’s not their turn. Please imagine Ryou playing Monster World with Honda postcanon, and Honda makes mistakes and Ryou’s also like: Manners! It’s not your turn! And Honda kind of cringes: ...Please don’t say that. And Ryou’s all: ???
Tumblr media
Jounouchi is rolling next.
Tumblr media
Savage.
Tumblr media
So then pretty soon everyone is Monster World Figurines (so cute) and Atem is the one rolling for all of them. It’s Atem vs Y!Bakura, everyone. Huzzah!
Tumblr media
A good screencap.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Atem is popular. And much better at rolling dice for Jou than Jou is.
Tumblr media
And Jounouchi is jealous and attention starved as usual. This poor neglect child. Pay attention to me. Pay attention to me. Pay attention to me.
Tumblr media
Yuugi continues to do his magic hands beast tamer thing, and recruit enemies to his side.
Tumblr media
The sound effects here as he pets(?) this dragon are adorable.
Tumblr media
In the meantime, Ryou has “cursed” Y!Bakura’s dice. Ryou confirmed as too occult and creepy even for Y!Bakura.
Ryou has also taken back control of his left hand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aaaaand I... actually completely forgot this happened. Everyone talks about how Y!Bakura stabbed himself during Battle City. But his self-mutilative tendencies seem to extend far beyond that one moment.
Tumblr media
...This too. I guess in a technical sense, Y!Bakura says he default wins so long as the heros all die in this game of Monster World. And this is his game, so maybe Zorc’s defeat really won’t have any further consequences on him. But... I’m not convinced. It seems likely that Zorc/TKB/Y!Bakura - whoever the hell this is - doesn’t care if he dies in the process of wiping the others out. Probably you could have foreseen Y!Bakura/Zorc killing TKB in Memory World based on this but- here he’s willing to kill Zorc’s expy, not just TKB’s expy. This seems like a subtle difference that could have had some great significance. The ultimate evil doesn’t actually care about living to perpetuate ultimate evil.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I believe this is the final part of our ‘figure out what Takahashi was thinking’ game. Atem devises this strategy as a way to recruit Ryou, who crawls out of Zorc’s left arm. BUT! Zork implies that it is, in fact, possible to recruit him. Was the original plan for Atem & co to level up to level one million and recruit Zorc at the end of the manga? It might mean more coming from the heros, but the villain himself implying that there’s something redeemable in him is interesting in of itself.
Tumblr media
In other news, Jou’s stupid martyr streak continues.
And things are getting dicey and wrapping up to their conclusion. (Get it? Dicey? Haha. I’m not funny.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s what you get for shopping at Walmart, Y!Bakura.
So the dice break, and then Atem says-
Tumblr media
And so we get initiative and can do whatever we want now!
Yeah, also pretty sure that’s not how the game works, Atem. If your dice break, don’t you just have to get a new set of D10s and re-roll? Fake. So fake.
But wait, going back, something that didn’t happen in the manga.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y!Bakura tries to kill Ryou for interfering, it seems. Which is approximately how I see their relationship, personally. But I’m still not sure I appreciate Toei trying to end the debate on whether or not the Ring Spirt is at all protective of Ryou’s person. Hmmm. HMMM! I think it’s a question better left vague than answered in this clumsy manner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, YAY! Our heroes won the game. And the Millennium Ring breaks off Ryou’s neck and falls to the floor. Where it was left 5ever and everyone was happy and that was the end of our Ring related troubles, YAY! (I s2g, Ryou. Don’t ruin this for me!!!)
Tumblr media
And then Ryou makes this to celebrate. And Yuugi and Atem are represented individually. And it’s all very cute and we should appreciate it!
THAT’S IT! ANIME OVER!

Hi I was wondering if you could explain the appeal of deathshipping to me. I don't understand that ship (it seems to me that yams Mark just wants to kill people and I don't know how I feel about you having feelings for him).I want to know why its so popular and why so many people ship it. I am into thiefshipping tho(mostly because of ygotas lol). Thanks so much!!
I can’t speak for why *every* deathshipper likes the pairing, but I can go into a few of the reasons why *I personally* like it. Oh boy, this is going to be long, so it’s going to go under a cut…
The Ryou side of Deathshipping: So when I first got into the fandom (2012-ish?) the vast majority of Ryou-paired fics had Ryou-crying-often hurt/physically abused-victim of non-con acts/abuse And not only did I hate these fics but they seemed so … ooc. I read the manga, but I didn’t see the anime, so scenes like Ryou getting attacked in the church, and Tristan tossing the Ring (only for it to come back on its own) weren’t part of the ygo reality that I knew existed until later, so it was honestly confused why ppl wrote him as such a weak victim. Ryou is a strong character. We know this, because people who aren’t strong that put on the Ring catch fire (Pegasus watched this happen right before he got the Eye). So one part of the appeal of Deathshipping is that Ryou is so strong, so clever, so capable, and such a horror-nerd that he sees this crazy monster character and is just like… aaaaaaw. In a good Deathship fic, Ryou uses his cleverness (and kindness) to always stay a step ahead of trouble. He’s capable and empowered instead of weak and victimized.
Also, the whole seme/uke relationship dynamics of older fanfiction often plays out like a cis-het, abusive male in a relationship with a cis-het, victim female (although both characters are actually male, the “ukes” often read like badly 2-D female characters). And in them, it’s like the uke never gets to *enjoy sex* (hence the non-con). There’s this weird notion of “bad men like the “yamis” have raging sex drives and *need* sex, but if you’re a good “hikari” character and nice, then heaven forbid you do any of that uncouth sex stuff unless pressured into it, forced into it, or roped into it under inaccurate notions of “but he loves me so I guess I have to”.
And this concept offends me. Women have sex drives. Nice people have sex drives. Kind, loving, caring people have sex drives. Even *gasp* some Aces have sex drives (they might lack sexual attraction, but that doesn’t mean some aces don’t feel erotic desire). So, going back to deathshipping, Ryou was getting portrayed as this sexless, uke character, and it’s just nice to write him as not only strong, clever, and kind, but as someone with all these good qualities who also has a sex drive, enjoys sex, and even *double gasps* initiates the sex instead of waiting on the more aggressive character to do it for him! (*side note: this is not to say that Ryou *has to have* a sex drive or sexual attraction. Ace!Ryou headcanons are awesome. I’m just talking about what I have fun writing when dealing with Ryou’s character).
The Yami Marik Side of Deathshipping: First, I think it’s important to note that in canon, Yami Marik is not a full person/human. He’s not even a fully developed alter ego. Yami Marik is a Emotional Part Fragment of Marik’s disassociation disorder. His purpose is the hold the memory of the initiation, and to hold/process things like pain/anger. Why is this important?Because it means Yami Marik’s character has the ability to quickly grow/change in ways that other characters wouldn’t. I mean, obviously a fic can use Yami Marik as the antagonist and keep him in a simplified, angry state that just wants to murder/hurt things, but most of the times in deathshipping the author asks, well what would happen if he became fully human? What would happen if this Fragment ended up in a full body without a host ego to feed it commands? How does he process the past trauma? How does he move forward and grow as an individual? How does he connect with other people? What type of a person *could he* become? Even in shared body fics, Emotional Parts can evolve into more complete personalities, so the potential for character growth is still there.
I mentioned this in author notes before, but I still like to apply the Soggy Potato Chip theory to Yami Marik (a child wants to eat a crispy potato chip, but will eat a soggy one if it’s the only way he can get a chip at all. Likewise, children want positive attention/interactions, but if they can’t have any, they will behave badly to get *any* (even negative) sort of attention/interactions.) Yami Marik has *only known* soggy potato chips. Poor thing doesn’t even know they come in crispy- Ryou becomes his first experience with a real chip (positive human interaction). Again, it’s about development and growth.
Basically, is the human soul capable of growing/healing even after extreme abuse/trauma?  I know deathshipping is a relationship, but the underlying themes are usually (at least in my fics) about trauma recovery. Yami Marik trying to recover from Marik’s childhood. Ryou trying to recover from the death of his mom/sister, the neglect of his father, the spiritual wear of being the Host of the Ring. They’re both complex characters that have been through a great deal of emotional trauma, so it’s nice to see them play off each other in a relationship while both growing and becoming better people on their own and as a couple. *That* is the appeal of deathshipping for me.
In conclusion, giving Yami Marik a puppy in Creepy Hide & Seek was the greatest thing I ever did, um, I mean- I hope this has given you some insight into why some ppl like the ship- it’s because it describes the characters as complex human beings capable of moving beyond their pasts and growing/thriving. Ryou isn’t a 2D “perfect” goody goody. Yami Marik is redeemable despite past mistakes. There’s potential for their character dynamics to play nicely off each other in a relationship, and that sometimes includes (because it’s a romantic relationship) healthy exploration of sex, and sometimes it just includes  simply establishing an empathy bond with another person.

-I hope you like shopping, because she’s gonna dragyou with her every time and her sessions are damn long. She loves dressing youup and Momoi is a boast for your self-esteem. She repeats as many times as youneed that you’re cute, you’re hot, you’re smart, brilliant and funny. She’sadamant about it and never accepts self-deprecation.
-She’s protective. No one can say anything bad aboutyou. Anyone.
-She can go from the most badass, awe-inspiring,independent girl to an over-excited, bubbly and spoiled fangirl in less thanthree seconds. But you’re used to it already and she’s just adorable like that.
-Being friends with Momoi means you are friend withAomine too; that’s not always easy, but he’s happy Momoi has a girl friend andtries to treat you right. (Even because he’s scared of Momoi’s anger)
-A lot of pajama’s party, nearly every week, becauseshe loves to share. It doesn’t matter if you go to the same school, there’salways something to talk or to laugh about (especially romance). And she’sexcited every time like it’s the first one.
-She loves PDA, be ready for a lot of sudden hugs, kisses and hands holding! She’s extremely affectionate!

-You often hang out with Kyoshi and Hyuuga too.
MurasakibaraAtsushi
-Murasakibara isthat type of friend that no one understands why you’restaying with him but you laugh when they say it to you. Heseems cold, disinterested, selfish and a baby you have to take care of; yetthis is only the surface. You know that even if you don’t see it, Murasakibara iswatching you, is silently supporting you and knows perfectly the boundaries of whathe can or can’t do. He cares, truly and deeply.
-Extremely protective and jealous of your friendship, even if he wears a cold façade. He doesn’t get along with many other people andtry to be nice only if you scold or beg him.
-He usually drapes himself over you, uses your lap as a pillow, rests his elbow on your head…. He likes to remindyou that you’re smaller and use you like a supporter.
-He picks you up whenever he wants: if you are askinghim to pick something from a high shelf, if you’re pouting and don’t want to gowith him somewhere, if you’re playfully teasing each other, if you can’t see ashow…
-He lets you play with his hair and allows you to takebites of his food, even if he complains about it.
-He’s great at hugging and comforting, he alwayslistens to you and gives short but meaningful suggestions. He also listens toyour love problems if you need it, but don’t get him wrong: he usually despisesevery guy you have a crush on.
-He’s drastically blunt but gets annoyed easily whenothers are blunt with him, this is why it’s funny to tease him. Murasakibaraknows that you’re joking, so he just gets a playful revenge on you.
-He’s brilliant even if during lessons you have totake notes for him because he’s sleeping or eating. He doesn’t mind long studysessions together if you promise to prepare him a midafternoon snack.
-You both know each other’s favorite dishes and areable to prepare them. You often eat dinner at each other’s house and your mothertreats him like his lost son. Murasakibara has a secret soft spot for her.
OgiwaraShigehiro
-He’s your Sunshine Best Friend. The adventurous, lively but responsible one that drags you everywhere.
-He’s a social butterfly but makes sure to show toeveryone and you in particular that you are his best friend. He’s always soproud of you and never let you feel lonely or neglected.
-He likes to hang out together a lot, doing prettymuch anything and nothing. From karaoke, arcade and video games nights to studysessions, going to eat popsicles or just napping on the couch.
-He knows you well and understands immediately ifsomething is off, ready to talk about it with you and find a solution. On theother side, he tries to hide when he has a problem or there’s something wrongeven if he’s totally obvious. He doesn’t know how to lie at all, poor boy.
-He’s touchy, if you’re a girl he’s going to treat youpretty much like a boy and sometimes you have to remind him that actually youaren’t. He apologizes when he’s at fault, he’s pretty selfless and smiles alot.
-He loves camping or spending time outside in general, and yes, he’s going to bring you with him. You probably spend your holidaystogether. He gets excited easily.
-However he’s very responsible and never puts you indanger. He has even done a first aid course. He gets really mad if you do somethingstupid or injure yourself. It emerges his Mom Side.
-Completely oblivious about romance and anythingrelated, a lost cause. He’s a simple and direct person, you have to be clear ifyou want him to understand something.
-Summer Festivals in yukata with him are a tradition. You also compete for who wins the biggest prize and then give the others prizesto the children you meet.
-He’s always late for school, for one thing or another,so you have to cover for him or take notes for both.
-His family has adopt you, the parents call you “daughter”and his siblings “big sister”. You often spend the night in his room (yay, pajama party) and help them in the house when they need it. They also bring youon holiday with them.
Sakurai Ryou
-The typical friend that thinks he’s not enough to bewith you and constantly doubts himself because he thinks you deserve best. Youspend half of your time kicking into his ass how much he’s worth and how muchyou care about him; with time, he starts to believe you. He gets reallyconfident and scary only when people badmouth you (you’re still shocked by thechange: you’ve never seen him standing so tall and glaring so menacinglybefore)
-He’s a sweetheart who would do everything to make youhappy and the purest cinnamon roll. He’s not very comfortable with groups, buthe’ll go with you to parties or social events if you ask.
-He’s very sensitive and kind, attentive to your moodswings and able to read you pretty well. He doesn’t like to meddle, but, if it’sto make you feel better, he’s going to confront you about anything.
-He’s freaking competitive when you play against eachother. It doesn’t matter which game, he just goes all out to win. It’s one ofhis scary sides.
-He always asks you for an opinion over the mangas hedraws or the new dishes he tries to cook. You often cook together when you havea movie night.
-He prepares you every week at least one characterbento and he’s freaking proud of it. The only time everyone remember him gettingmad with Aomine is when the ace tried to eat the bento he had prepared for you.Aomine never did it again.
-He has an adorable pout, especially when you teasehim or he gets slightly jealous over you.
-He beams and gets all giddy when you go to see himplay! He really does his best! Obviously, if he makes a mistake or thinks he’snot playing well, afterwards you are going to have to comfort him while he criesand apologizes for some hours.
-If you’re a girl, he’s gonna treat you in a veryrespectful way, even if you laugh it off. He’s going to hold shopping bags foryou, open the doors, sleeping in another room…he’s unmovable about this.

I had a dream that the Paradox Brothers were part of the Waking the Dragons arc, and so was Standard Duelist Erika from Duel Links’ 5Ds world. After that it turned into a Duel Links dream where DSOD Ryou got a super mode named Hungry Bakura...Poor guy XD

For the DM Cup, our Tag opponents were the returning teams of Tristan and Mako, Joey and Mai, and a new team of Yami Marik and Ishizu! The final round was Yugi and Yami Yugi like before. Poor Ryou missing out on things again...
Yami Marik: What’s wrong, sister? Aren’t you delighted to Tag Duel with your very own brother? Ishizu: This may be a joke for you, but I will do anything to save my brother! (they lose) Yami Marik: Humph! Ishizu: (...What can I do to save you, Marik?)
Yami Bakura: Heh heh heh...I quite enjoyed myself. Just as much as I’ll enjoy ruling this world. I’m sure we’ll run into each other again. But as adversaries. When that time comes, I won’t hesitate to strike you with fear! Hahahahahaha! Bakura: ............Huh? Umm...Any updates with the Tag Duel Tournament? When’s it going to begin? ...Whaaaaa!? It’s already over!? Awww...I thought I was going to be able to participate...

Here’s VRAINS world highlights so far, including our new Standard Duelists! Despite being a named character from the anime with unique dialogue, poor Naoki is included among them as a generic NPC...Ryou and Bastion can sympathize XD

A new Tag Duel Tournament has begun in Duel Links, and our partner is NON-DSOD RYOU....until Yami Bakura took over. XD
Bakura: You’re my partner? It’s my honor to team with you! I hope we have a great time Dueling together! What kind of Deck do you play? I play a- Yami Bakura: ...Humph! My host may care about your Deck, but I do not. I was just in the neighborhood, so I’ll team with you instead of him. Heh heh heh...What’s wrong? You don’t need to be scared. As long as you don’t fail me. I hope you enjoy this Shadow Game as much as I will! Hahahahaha!
