I cannot believe that the same man I protested alongside for BLM during the summer of 2020 got elected to be a state representative.... just for other lawmakers to put in a formal request for him and 2 others to be removed this year. Why do they want him removed, you ask? BECAUSE HE PROTESTED WITH 10,000+ STUDENTS YESTERDAY FOR BETTER GUN LEGISLATION, THEIR RIGHT TO FEEL SAFE IN SCHOOL, AND MORE!!

Representative Justin Jones, also known as Brother Jones to many of us here in TN, does not deserve this. He's a fantastic organizer and now state legislator who has repeatedly put his body, mental health, and life on the line for countless people. And the other two Reps., Gloria Johnson and Justin Pearson, don't deserve it either. Especially not for joining people they're meant to represent in a fight for their safety and rights.

Any understanding of class that derives from mid-20th century Britain, United States, or Canada is probably wrong. And that’s a problem because that’s where most people get their ideas about class.

If you look further back, middle housing (townhomes, condos, apartments, triplexes, quadplexes, etc) are where the middle class historically found themselves living (usually, there are exceptions). Suburbs are mostly new and they are extremely wasteful. The idea that people lived in single family homes or even semi-detached housing with large green outdoor spaces (as opposed to shared courtyards) just strikes me as very, very silly and very, very American.

A better, more honest, more accurate description of the decline of the middle class is not just the disappearance of middle housing—it’s how much middle housing has deteriorated qualitatively. We no longer consider that apartments can be big enough to raise families in. Nor do we consider that they should be well-made enough to hold up to decades of uninterrupted housing.

“Luxury” condos have nothing on early-20th brownstones of the working class. And that’s the problem.

I am having trouble reconciling the same people who rightly said that density over space are now claiming that the birthright of the middle class is the ownership of implied single family homes, presumably with spacious yards. No.

There is no class worth establishing that pines for the trappings of the rich. And there’s no need to establish it anyway, it already exists. That’s the upper middle class.

I cannot believe people are saying that waste is the only sign of being middle class that matters again. But, what’s worse, I can believe people are buying it.

Anyone who says that is no better than the TikTokers who insist that $500 Shein hauls are a necessity and excess clothing (to the point of never wearing the same outfit twice) is a human right.

They have successfully expelled Representative Justin Jones (AKA Brother Jones) of the Tennessee Three from his seat in the TN House of Representatives with a 72-25 majority vote. It was not a fair process. This entire situation isn't fair and was never meant to be.

A motion to adjourn until Monday was made by another Rep. who supports the Tennessee Three immediately after the expulsion vote. That was shot down with another majority vote. They have now moved on to the expulsion of Rep. Gloria Johnson.

The TN House GOP is truly about to fuck around and find out. This will not end well for them.

The people are sick of the excuses.

The people are tired of their children and members of their community dying.

The people are fed up with Tennessee legislators ignoring their pleas and doing nothing to help them.

As Brother Jones stated during his testimony, the people are sick and tired of being sick and tired.

the bad news: was hoping to get a document notarized today and do some boring irl bank stuff. instead I cleared 3000 emails out of my inbox (not an exaggeration; in early 2020 a bunch of the filters I use to keep my inbox tidy just... stopped working??? and I was in terrible mental health so I didn't bother to fix it. and also I made a lot of little donations in 2020 to various charities because I felt hopeless and helpless and terrible, and now every single Democrat in the whole country is asking me for money even though I don't generally donate to political parties/candidates) and rejiggered my AO3 and FF.N email filters so I get FEEDBACK in the FEEDBACK filter and WIP UPDATES/NEW FIC ALERTS in the FIC folder and THINGS THAT ARE NOT THAT in a different folder so that I will actually see the emails about tag wrangling, and anyway it's been hours and I'm poking through my these newly-unfucked filters and oh noooo there's so much stuff. and guilt. and yes. also I haven't eaten dinner and it's 9:30 pm. I have dinner made, it's leftovers and it's also delicious, but I have not gotten up to reheat it.

He hates the political part of his job because he thinks politics sucks, so he has his higher-ranked workers handle that part of his royal duties for him.

In fact, if there’s a part of the job he doesn’t like (which is most of them), he has his staff do it for him.

In Crocodile Isle/Krem Island, babysitters are free, but only because K. Rool doesn’t like babies or toddlers in his castle (for sensory reasons)

Nobody in his kingdom understands his decisions; not even staff that works closely with him understand them. He claims it’s because he’s so cool that his awesomeness overwhelms the average brain.

While other kings and queens talk to him with a huge level of formality, he responds to them way more casually, so if they lose a war against him, he just goes “ez gg” to them.

He thinks clowns, jesters, and harlequins are pretty cool and wonders why people are so scared of them
