Who is Jeffrey Paul Premo ( Suspect revealed in 1998 murder ) Wiki, Bio, Age, Crime, Arrest, Incident details, Investigations and More Facts

Jeffrey Paul Premo Biography                                        Jeffrey Paul Premo Wiki
Police arrested a suspect in the 1998 murder of a Washington state teenager this week, completing the more than two-decade-long investigation using DNA testing.
Jeffrey Paul Premo, 52, was arrested Monday and charged with the murder of Jennifer Brinkman, 19, according to Marysville Police Department and jail records. Premo was being held in the Snohomish County Jail on $250,000 bond for first-degree murder. Brinkman was found dead in her bedroom after her father and girlfriend returned from vacation on March 21, 1998. She had been struck in the neck with an ax recovered from the scene. Although investigators found DNA on the weapon, outdated technology prevented them from finding a match. The Washington State Patrol Crime Lab said the suspected killer's genetic material was eventually matched to DNA found on the axe. "Solving this case has been a top priority for the Marysville Police Department for more than 24 years," Police Commissioner Erik Scairpon said Tuesday. “We never gave it up or put it on the shelf. He has been under continued investigation in the belief that one day we may achieve some degree of closure for the family and justice for Jennifer." Brinkman, who was reportedly very sociable, met his killer during a telephone conversation. Early investigators found a letter the suspect had written to Brinkman before his death, which indicated that the couple had met. Premo denied knowing her during his first interview with the police. After his arrest, police said, Premo invoked his constitutional rights and police did not disclose the motive for the crime. "It's one of those things where it never leaves your thought process because it remains unresolved," Commander Robb Lamoureux said at a news conference on Tuesday. Lamoureux was Brinkman's first homicide detective and still conducts investigations with the Marysville PD. “Just yesterday when we made the arrest and I was sitting at home thinking about it, it really hit me that we have a conclusion on this and can finally put it on a shelf and conclude not only for us as investigators, the people involved. , but also for the family and the community,” he continued. While Brinkman's father died in 2013, police were able to inform his mother of the turn of the case. "She was extremely emotional," Lamoureux said. "I think it was an overwhelming feeling for her to finally have an answer." The Marysville Police Department did not respond to The Post's request for comment on Wednesday. Jennifer Brinkman's murder is one of many cold cases now supported by advanced DNA technology. Earlier this month, police in Fairfax County, Virginia announced that genetic testing had identified two Maryland brothers as the rapists who assaulted a 21-year-old woman in a mall parking lot in 1988 . George Thomas, Jr., 61, was arrested at a train station in Maryland on November 21. Her brother, Gregory Allen Thomas, died in 2009. "In this case, justice will be delayed, but justice will not be denied," Chief Kevin Davis said at the time. Read the full article

Occupational Health and Safety is investigating a "near-miss" incident at the Braya refinery in Come By Chance, involving drilling on a repurposed line that had previously been in nitrogen service.

7. Candidate Tony Wakeham is releasing his healthcare plan for connecting residents with a primary provider for healthcare.

The plan prioritizes job offers to health care professionals at the beginning of their training to address the shortage of healthcare providers in the province.
Wakeham emphasizes the urgency of addressing the lack of access to health care and believes that waiting for the long-term vision of the Health Accord is not feasible for the province.

9. It is peak tourism for Newfoundland and Labrador right now. Business has picked up but the sector still faces challenges, including air access [per VOCM].
Small businesses in the hospitality industry, such as restaurants and tour companies, are relying on a busy summer season to help cover costs and repay loans taken out during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Staffing shortages, inflation, and rising food prices are adding to the challenges faced by businesses in the summer, but increased tourism can help offset these difficulties.
Business owners are implementing strategies such as menu changes, hiring immigrants, and raising prices to adapt to the current economic conditions and make the most of the summer season.

On June 21, 2021, at 4:26 PM, Deputy Bostick was dispatched to 316 MLK Street in Baconton in response to a report of a vehicle's window being shot. Upon arrival, Deputy Bostick contacted Mrs. Huntley, who reported hearing a loud bang while inside her house and subsequently discovering the back glass of her vehicle, parked by the road, shattered.
Deputy Bostick and Investigator Brooks arrived at the scene and observed several people outside. They found no bullet fragments near or inside the vehicle but noticed two males on a front porch across from the incident, one of whom was identified as Mr. Johntaven Simmons. Mr. Simmons reported hearing a gunshot but did not know its direction.
Investigator Brooks located the impact point on the vehicle and collected evidence, including a silver, rust-colored dust in the dent. Surveillance cameras on the side of the house captured footage of the incident, showing a tan or brown vehicle pulling up nearby and a black male in all black exiting the vehicle, walking towards the road, and then returning to the car with a gun in hand after the glass breakage.
Upon reviewing the video, Deputy Bostick and Investigator Brooks noticed that Mr. Simmons' clothing matched that of the individual in the footage. Mr. Simmons became frustrated during questioning and refused to answer further questions. A bullet casing was found near the scene, matching the gun seen in the video.
The video was sent to Investigator Brooks for further analysis, which helped in identifying the shooter. Mr. Simmons was arrested at 321 MLK Street after his clothing was matched to that in the video. He surrendered a 9MM gun that matched the casing found. Mr. Simmons was charged with Reckless Conduct, Obstruction Of Officers, and Discharge of a Gun or Pistol Near a Public Highway or Street, and was transported to Mitchell County Jail by Deputy Wilson.

Erin Merdy Biography                       Erin Merdy Wiki
A Brooklyn mother with a history of mental health problems is suspected of drowning her three young children on Coney Island beach early Monday morning after confessing to relatives that she killed them, family and police sources said.
Erin Merdy tragic children -- Oliver, 3 months, Liliana, 4, and Zachary, 7 -- were discovered unanswered around 4:40 a.m. on the seafront of West 35th Street, just three blocks from their mother's home, authorities and law enforcement said. Merdy, 30, told relatives she "drowned the three children" and later walked barefoot and in a robe along the beach looking "depressed," police officers and sources said. Erin Merdy, 30, of Coney Island owed more than $10,000 in back rent for her apartment, where she lived with her children and had been threatened with getting booted out since January, after the state’s COVID-19 eviction moratorium expired. show.https://t.co/ajMyuX5iMB — Jules (@AllLive76499807) September 12, 2022 "The mother was soaking wet," New York City Police Department Chief Kenneth Corey said at a news conference. "Whether she was in the rain or in the water is all speculative at this point. She was wet, she was barefoot and she did not speak to officers. Merdy was first taken to the 60th Precinct for questioning and then transported on a gurney to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn, sources say and the Post's exclusive photos and video. “We are devastated. they were children They were adorable babies," said Dine Stephen, Merdy's aunt. "He was someone who fought and no one knew how tough the fight was."
Mental Illness
Stephen said Merdy's family had a history of mental illness and that her granddaughter was "struggling" because "she was trying to find her way in life". “In this family we have a history of mental illness at various levels. Some of us have struggled with bipolar disorder, but I was unaware of their mental struggles. All I knew was that he was trying to find a way for his kids to get up," Stephen said. An intense search for the mother and children began about three hours before the children were found on the beach when a parent called police over concerns the mother might have harmed the children, Corey told reporters. A parent said the mother admitted "to drowning all three children," the sources said. After being escorted to the beach to search for her mother and children, police patrolled the seafront, shoreline and surrounding streets for about 90 minutes before receiving another 911 call, taking them to Brighton Beach Headed near Brighton Beach, Strand 6th Street, Corey said. . That's where police officers found Merdy with some of her relatives, but the three children were nowhere to be found, Corey said. Read the full article
