Lorelei — Simon "Ghost" Riley x Reader | Part IV

Simon doesn't cry. The last time he cried was out of shock, coming home to see his entire family executed by who he thought were his allies, his friends, his comrades. Simon doesn't cry, but you can see how broken his soul is in the way his hands delicately hold you close to him. You can feel it in the way his heart is beating fast in your ear, his lips pressing gentle kisses on the top of your head while you're barely conscious, too tired from the late-night conversation you had with him.

The man who broke you a year ago is the same man whose touch pieces your soul together, his warm hands doing nothing but serve as a reassurance that he's here. He's here, alive, and he's not going anywhere. Not anymore.

He waits until you're snoring softly to gently settle you back down in bed, taking one last look at your peaceful sleeping expression before getting up from bed slowly, leaving the room and walking in the dark towards his baby's room. He closes the door behind him, approaching the crib with footsteps so quiet one would think he's still the ghost, but he's not, not when he's here. He's just Simon.

"Hey, sweet girl." He greets in a whisper, leaning down in front of the crib to look at his daughter. What a fucking sight, he thinks; brown eyes focused on the way his tiny girl is holding a bunny plushie close to her, wearing the skull pattern pajamas he bought her a few weeks ago. Simon has strong genes— the baby looks like a girly replica of him, her dark brown hair framing her pretty face, nose slightly rosy from the cold. He adjusts her beanie, lifting the blanket enough so more of her body can be covered even while she's asleep. His hand hesitates when he feels the baby stirring awake, taking a step back before her brown eyes open, peering at him.

"Good morning, sweetheart." He whispers, afraid to wake you up even while you're an entire room away. His big hands reach out for the baby, cradling her in his arms as he walks around the house until he reaches the living room, not bothering to turn on the light to not bother his baby. She's calm— not crying, simply babbling as she looks up at him, her hands balled into fists, too used to holding something. Simon can feel her tiny nails digging into his bare chest, yet he doesn't mind, gently rocking his girl under the comfort of the dark living room, the moonlight illuminating enough so they can both look at each other.

"Papa." His heart almost stops when he hears the little girl say her first word, looking down at her with wide eyes and a proud smile. He almost thinks he imagined it until she repeats it louder, tiny hands pulling on his dog tags. His hand dwarfs the baby's head as he presses her closer to his bare chest, closing his eyes and focusing on the feeling of her tiny body against his. He never thought he'd be a father— hell, the idea itself never went through his head even when his family was alive, yet ever since he first saw his baby girl? Simon fell in love.

"Papa's here, Astrid." He plants a gentle kiss on her forehead, her tiny balled up hands now holding his cheeks and pulling slightly on the stubble, making him groan in pain, something she finds amusing, a cheeky giggle coming out of her.

"Gentle." He reminds her, pulling her away so she's not able to keep torturing his scarred cheeks. He smiles down at her, one of his hands coming up to gently pinch her chubby cheeks, another giggle coming out of the tiny girl. She’s an angel— rarely cries and is always giggling, her gummy smile full on display for anyone lucky enough to see her.

His pretty angel. A split image of everything Simon could have been if he had a normal family and rather than feeling bitter about it, he feels happy. Happy to be able to see her grow, to give her and you the life you both deserve, even if you're not together.

He lays down on the couch with the baby resting on his chest, the chain and metal of his dog tags enough to keep her distracted as he admires her under the moonlight seeping through the window, wanting to memorize every single detail on her tiny face. The pain of losing a second brother to him is still there, yet this tiny girl heals his soul and gives him hope.

Johnny would have loved you. He thinks as he looks at her, imagining Johnny playing with his baby. A quiet chuckle escapes his lips as he thinks of the tiny girl pulling on his mowkhawk, her bad habit of pulling on people's hair something he became too familiar with, his buzzcut not saving him from his baby's surprisingly strong grip. His mind inevitably goes back to his family, thinking of Joseph playing with his baby, of Tommy experiencing being an uncle, or Beth and his mum gossiping with you while looking at Simon, proud smiles in their faces. He can't help the way his eyes sting, slightly rimming with tears in the company of his baby.

His eyes close as he takes a deep breath, allowing a stray tear to roll down his cheek while the rest dots his long eyelashes. His hand plays with his little girl's hair, the other one firmly holding her close to his bare chest while she babbles on, her innocence a complete contrast to who he is.

"Mum?" He begins, eyes still closed and voice shaky.

"This is my baby, Astrid. She's four months old... lovely girl, ain't she?" He speaks quietly to nothing, imagining his mum is there, watching over him, a bright smile on her lips.

"I still haven't won her mum over, but I'm trying. I'm gonna marry this girl, mummy, I know I will." Simon doesn't cry, but his stomach muscles tense as he holds back a sob, not wanting to startle the baby resting on him. Her silence finally makes his eyes open, tear-rimmed circles of darkness softening when he sees the peaceful sleeping expression on his baby.

"I love you so much." He confesses in a whisper, his short nails gently massaging her scalp, his warm chest working as a personal heater for the sleeping baby. His back is starting to hurt but he's not going to risk waking the girl up, simply closing his eyes again and focusing on getting some sleep. With how badly he has been sleeping since he came back, he doesn't even realize when he drifted off to sleep, only being awoken hours later by the smell of pancakes and tea.

He looks down at his chest, finding a blanket covering him, but no sight of his baby. That's enough to send him in a panic, immediately getting up and looking around the living room, his fast-beating heart only slowing down once he sees the baby sitting on a highchair in the kitchen, your back turned to him as you hum and prepare breakfast.

"Bloody hell— you scared the shit out of me." He lets out a deep breath, trying his best to calm down as he starts walking towards you, one of his hands resting on your waist as you look over your shoulder and shoot him a cheeky grin.

"You scared the shit out of me when I saw the empty crib." He gives you an apologetic smile, planting a soft kiss on the top of your head and laughing as he narrowly misses the kick thrown to his arse.

Stoick headcannons

stoick hated dragons so much because they killed valka. before that, he was a respected dragon hunter but he wasn’t obsessed with it like he was in the first movie

stoick and toothless absolutely have a fake love-hate relationship. toothless will pretend to hate him and growl at him all the time and stoick will complain about toothless being in his house, but toothless and stoick give each other big hugs whenever they see each other after a long time apart and stoick always makes extra food for toothless while toothless brings back extra fish just for stoick

they treat each other like toothless is a stray that just never left: constantly ragging and being snarky with each other but they really do love each other

stoick is sort of a father figure for all the riders

he is their role model and chief, but he tends to treat the riders a bit like they’re his kids

while they all have their own parents and families, the riders tend to have big meals at hiccups house together with stoick every so often

this tradition continues even when stoick passes but it’s never the same

when they meet valka, the riders are pretty frosty to her for a long time

while they understand wanting to save dragons, they were first hand witnesses to hiccup’s loneliness and fights with his father and they hate that she abandoned her kid and husband

they eventually sort it out and become civil but they never get as close to her as they were with stoick

stoick was very socially competent and was very skilled at figuring out when people were trying to manipulate him, which was why he had so many enemies but remained one of the most powerful chiefs in the archipelago

while stoick scolded hiccup a lot for the trouble he got into, he was very protective of hiccup to other people. he’s well known outside of berk for getting into fights with people who disrespected hiccup in front of him. this was strange to the other vikings because while it is normal behavior to defend your sons honor, they would never have done so for a runt that was supposed to die soon after birth

if stoick had survived after drago was defeated, i think stoick would have had a long talk with valka about how she abandoned them. as much as he loves her, he’s still upset that she wasn’t there to help raise hiccup and that is was her choice to be absent

i think while stoick has a hard time talking about her, he gives pieces of valka to hiccup whenever he can (the dragon plushie, the breastplate helmet, etc.)

in turn, after stoick dies hiccup spends a long time working through his grief by telling valka stories of him being his dad instead of being chief

hiccup also likes to sit at stoicks statue and just talk for hours. when he doesn’t feel like talking, he sits in silence while doing some work or eating. it’s almost like having him there still.

stoick gives the best hugs ever

stoick really loved hiccup. while he hated all the trouble he got into, he admired his intellect, leadership ability, and willingness to follow his own heart. after the red death’s death, he is immensely proud and brags about hiccup to everyone.

he really struggled with being a single father while mourning his wife and trying to lead a village. this was the time period when gobber and stoick became the closest, because stoick relied on gobber so much as a friend and support system.

hiccup sees gobber as a crazy uncle/close friend, not as a father figure. however, he will go to gobber whenever he and his dad are having a fight.

stoick also really loved astrid. he often gave her big hugs and was adamant that she only refer to him as stoick or dad when they were at home instead of chief, because she was his future daughter-in-law.

while he loved all the riders for becoming hiccups friends, he was ecstatic when he heard about hiccup and astrid getting together. he was very excited for grandkids.

stoick was very busy as chief and while he always made time for hiccup, he wasn’t aware of the bullying and negligence that hiccup endured from the rest of the village. this was why he never thought it was a big deal to scold him in front of people.

Hiccup Haddock — Courting Headcanons

Notes: This will take place on the series "Race To The Edge", since it was here that Hiccup and Astrid got engaged first, also cause it happens before the second movie (I love this man with my entire beign, its not even funny).

Warnings: possible spoilers, grammar errors

»» Before even starting to court Hiccup, you need his father's approval, he is the future chief, so he needs a mate who will be there for him every step of the way. It's good to know that even though you are the alpha, you're going to be considered his consort, Hiccup will still be the chief after you get married/mated.

»» Now, for Hiccup to like you back and accept the courting, I feel like you will have to be a dragon rider. Or work on the forge, which he did before Berk made peace with the dragons. This way Hiccup would coexist with you and start falling in love.

»» But let's say you're a dragon rider, you would go with him and the others beyond the archipelago, create the "Dragon's Edge" and stop Dagur and the dragon hunters. Now, I do believe that it would be best to start courting while the Edge has a period of calmness, with no sign of Dagur or Ryker, and before the Dragon Riders knew about Viggo.

»» For the actual courtship, the first gift would be something dragon related. If you could make a miniature toothless, be it a sculpture, a plushie, or even a toy, he would fall head over heels. Knowing Hiccup he would like to return "the favor", so he will get something to give you back and then officially start the courtship.

»» Hiccup is new to physical affection, so you will have to start slow, so he doesn't get nervous. Principally in front of others, will try his best to hide you're courting from the hunters, so you don't become an even bigger target for them. But this is only at the start, after some time he will show you off more.

»» Just like in the show, he will prioritize you going with him on missions and places, to the point where he starts neglecting the rest of the group. So it's up to you to bring this to his attention, so things be more balanced.

»» Since you all are staying in a base of operations, his nest isn't very worked on, it just has the essentials. It would be good to buy more for him, though if you got a more expensive piece, he would feel bad about having it on Dragon's Edge since they can be attacked at any moment. So he tends to bring those to Berk, which is more "safe", otherwise he feels guilty you might have wasted your money. He doesn't understand that doesn't matter what happens, if it's for him then is not wasting.

»» You will have to force him to rest, this guy is a workaholic, principally after the Viggo fiasco happens, so you will have to force him to go to sleep, eat and rest. The best way to do this is to bring him to his nest, once you have his permission to see and get in and scent him in there, he will be putty in your hands and finally get some rest.

»» After all that happened before and at the start of the first movie, I feel like Hiccup would still be a little insecure about himself deep down. So make sure to give this boy a lot of love and affection, but most of all, actually say to him how much you love him, how beautiful, strong, and smart he is, make Hiccup feel all the love you give him, be trough words, physical affection or acts of service.

Yes !!! I loove that idea omg… Mairin is a MENACE in my head. She is my second fav TSME character for a reason.. She also likes girls! Only girls, she’s sapphic! But considering she’s super young, she doesn’t exactly know this yet, as expected.

Mairin in my head is a very sweet girl. She meets Alain after his battle with Ayaka (Astrid) like in canon, and tags along without really asking him. Constantly in some kind of trouble, has a habit of laughing in the wrong moments and she’s also.. sometimes brutally honest! And Chespie is identical to her personality-wise. She’ll stand up for Alain at Burger King when he gets pickles on his burger.

In her bag you can find potions, revives, Pokeballs, and probably a few plushies, and a comic. She’s also super reckless, and wouldn’t mind sleeping in the middle of the grass without a tent or anything.

Alain finds her a bit obnoxious sometimes but if ANYTHINGG happens to her it’s raining down hellfire for real.

Summarizing (even though I’m like half-done with this rant) They’re siblings!

NOW. Onto the uhm. Not very happy stuff. I don’t quite remember (a TSME rewatch is due).. but Lysandre never exactly approved of their friendship, thinking of Mairin as a distraction for Alain. ‘Cause, yknow, Lysandre sucks. So in the fourth special, he threatens (idk if this happens in canon or not, again, a rewatch is due!) to take away their stones if he doesn’t drop her. And so Alain does as he’s told. Mairin runs off crying, Chespie ends up in the Zygarde room, idk what happens to him but he falls ill, and after Alain discovers this, Lysandre USES THIS against him as a way to motivate him into training more.

This ended on a messed up note but oh well. I love Mairin!! Crazy girlfail thing :3

FFXIV Write 2023: On Our Fates Alight (masterpost)

The tale of a Dominant of Light and her beloved sworn-brothers, each also yoked to an Eikon...

(FFXIV-FFXVI AU. Various components of XVI pulled into XIV, and me playing fast and loose with the timeline. Some prompts were generally G-rated, but others had warning for violence and sexual content. I'll note those in brackets next to the link so you can avoid them. G-rated ones will be non-bracketed)

Envoy: The Scions of the Seventh Dawn learn that Gaius van Baelsar has a secret--and has banished his third-in-command from the Eorzean campaign.

Bark: Garleans are not welcome in Coerthas. So is the will of the Silver Fuller.

Reconnaissance: Estinien Varlienau, Dominant of Nidhogg, runs afoul of the newest solider in the campaign against the Garlean incursion into Coerthas--a goose-sized Valefor.

Off The Hook (blood, violence, gore): Odin's Dominant, Sebastian Astralyas, learns that the Sharlayan Forum is actively seeking Riven.

Barbarous: Riven DeGlass, Dominant of Valefor--has a run in with her grandfather's not-so-sane wanna-be-girlfriend.

Ring (blood, violence, gore): Reinhardt Sauveterre, Dominant of Zurvan, is very well suited to his Eikon. As the Brothers of the True Faith spill innocent blood within the halls of the Vault, they realize they've invoked the wrath of an ancient god.

Noisome: At a party that introduces the Crystal Braves to the now-hurting Scions of the Seventh Dawn, Mathye Bishop, Second Dominant of Halone, realizes the glittering affair is nothing more than a trap for the unclaimed Valefor.

Shed: Emma DeGlass, Riven's mother, takes the boat to Eorzea to find her daughter...leaving a man she attempted to kill behind in her wake.

Fair: Riven and the others find themselves needing to pay the Ruby Tithe, but it's not as simple as they would like it to be.

Purge: In the aftermath of his revenge, Sebastian falls ill from the relief of no longer carrying a heavy weight on his soul. He finds comfort in his nurses-his three new brothers and baby sister.

Once Bitten, Twice Shy: The Eorzean Alliance wants to parlay with Ilberd Feare, who is now known as the Silver Griffin. There's just one problem...trying to convince the Scions' Dominants to let bygones by bygones.

Dowdy (sexual content): Riven, Estinien, the aftermath of Shinryu's defeat at Ala Mhigo, and a very large bathing pool.

Check (blood): Valefor flies to Ishgard's aid during the Steps of Faith.

Clear: Emma, a sleeping chibi-Valefor, and a pile of Riven's childhood plushies.

Portentous: Astrid DeGlass, and the first time Valefor awakens within Riven.

Jerk: Captain Carvallain Durendaire feels honorbound to warn his ship's current guests about the dangers Dominants face in Hingashi.

Save The Queen: Misija has bitten off far more than she can chew with Save the Queen--the Eikon itself and the five Dominants that are now hunting her down.

A Fish Out Of Water: Sebastian and Mathye give off murder vibes at a Ishgardian gathering. Augustine would just like someone to behave.

Weal: The final moments of Lacelle Gyllcen, Sebastian's ex-lover and the one who locked him away in Sharlayan experimental facility for a decade.

Hamper: Five Dominants on the First can surely put a crimp in Vauthry's plans...but the corrupted Light itself is an anti-Eikon weapon.

Grave: In the aftermath of the battle with Elidibus, Riven is uneasy about the revelations in Amarout.

Fulsome (sexual content): Sebastian gets broadsided by a question from Riven.

Suit: When he first Primed, Augustine Bishop didn't care what toes he stepped on and who he insulted...as long as he could cut himself free from his blood family.

Forbidden: Forced to treaty with the Eorzean Alliance, Gaius van Baelsar reaps the consequences of nearly killing Riven in his attempt to separate Valefor from her.

Call It A Day: While spying for the Scions in Sharalayan, Riven is able to venture deeper into Labyrinthos...and finds something quite strange.

Last: Even with the Dragonsong War concluded, Ishgard still is not at peace. For the civil strife to finally stop--Halone's Dominants must leave the city.

Sole: Fourchenault is not pleased with his current actions...even if they are for the good of his home, and Sharlayan's plans for the star.

Blunt (violence, blood): Forum Member Sevestre Albright imprisoned and tortured Riven after her first Priming as Valefor. Now she's finally able to have her own vengeance.

Contravention: A facility named Site Sixteen within Labyrinthos was responsible for the pain, suffering, and deaths of many Dominants--it's last victims being Sebastian Astralyas and Riven DeGlass. With word having gotten out of this gross abuse of power to the Sharlayan citizenry, Foruchenault Leveilleur is charged with finding and bringing home Sebastian and Riven--so that they may testify in a court of justice.

Amity: Three Scions watch over five Dominants who have found something rare and precious among their kind--friendship.

I did a soft redesign of my Psychonauts sona Astrid to look more in line with how weirdshaped the character designs are! I felt his old look was too "regular cartoon human but green". This was inspired by the redesigns my buddy @/technovillain has been doing so check out his stuff!

I'm gonna infodump some information about Astrid below the cut because yes

- His full name is Astrid Mercury

- he's a transmasc nonbinary grayaroace lesbian, he/it

- he's 22 years old and 5'5" (REALLY SHORT FOR A PN CHARACTER BUT I DON'T WANNA MAKE MY SELF-INSERT TALLER THAN ME OK </3)

- his voiceclaim is ENA's happy voice (I think, this is subject to change)

- neurodivergent in many ways

- it's a psychic, its specialty being levitation. Other powers its good at are telekinesis, invisibility, shield, and projection

- the powers he ISN'T good at are psi-blast (bad aim), pyrokinesis (it always gets out of control when he tries), and clairvoyance (unknown reasons)

- He's an employee at the Psychonauts! He joined up after his college plans fell through. It isn't an agent though, I'm still working on what I want his exact job title to be

- loves the aesthetic of space and stars and cartoon aliens, but doesn't actually know much about the scientific aspect of it all

- its hobbies include but aren't limited to drawing, playing video games, going to arcades and malls, bowling, and collecting trinkets like pins and jewelry and plushies

- he has a bottle of soda or a cup of coffee on his person at all times. Absolute caffeine and sugar fiend

- absolutely godawful memory. He'd lose his head if it wasn't attached to him

- he's almost always seen wearing a specific pink hoodie, it's a comfort object (pretend it's too hot in the image lmao, I didn't want to draw it)

- his theoretical mind level would be called Astrid's Headspace I think (ik it's not alliterative but that's just a pn2 thing and I can do what I want)
