idc there is no concept funnier than “will comes out to el but she literally doesn’t know what homophobia is.” all i can picture is will, sobbing breaking down, saying, “you don’t get it, el- i’m not normal! i like boys!” and they just sit there in complete silence for an entire minute before el goes, “okay? so do i? why are you crying, will? is it because boys are annoying and gross? i understand. sometimes i do not like that i like them either.” and will is actually so shocked that he stops crying and starts laughing instead

el being will’s biggest supporter. el buying anything rainbow colored she can find, presenting it to will, and going, “will, i bought you these rainbow-colored things. i read a book at the library that said rainbow is the color of gay pride.” el pointing out boys to will in magazines, movies, and at school and asking if they’re cute. el catching on to the fact that will only says boys with black hair and brown eyes are cute and realizing that will likes mike. el shushing will when he finally admits this to her even though she’d realized it ages ago and telling him that it’s okay, she isn’t mad, he’s her brother and no stupid boy is more important than that.

el, after breaking up with mike, trying to help will date him. el urging him on excitedly in the background every time he talks to mike, giving him a huge smile and a big thumbs up. el saying, “mike is very stupid, will, but i am pretty sure that he likes you too.” el screeching and full-body tackling will when he tells her that mike finally asked him on a date. el recruiting max to help dress him up for the date, leading to el AND max becoming will’s biggest cheerleaders. max taking will being gay in stride just like el, her only commentary being, “the only unfortunate part...is that you like mike wheeler.”

+ bonus: will being el’s biggest supporter when she eventually comes out as a lesbian. will almost crying in happiness when el says, “i think i am like you...but with girls.” will buying el any lesbian-colored things he can find. will cheering and clapping and screaming when el eventually tells him that she’s dating max.

i saw a post about how el would be homophobic if will and mike get together and just..WHAT? have you seen her? shes the sweetest little angel ever! (minus the murder) i am a firm believer that el will be a super supportive sister because thats how she is!!

homophobia is taught so theres no way el would think “two boys = gross” unless she was taught that by papa which i highly doubt.

alternate st universe where mike talks to el about will when he's missing. el notices something different about the way mike talks about will but doesn't know anything about romantic feelings so she doesn't say anything. when she finds out what romantic feelings are, she at first thinks she likes mike (since he's the first person she's ever gotten genuine affection from) but quickly realizes the feelings are platonic and mike is in love with will. somewhere she finds out about homophobia and gay people. the rest of the show continues with dumbass byler and tired lesbian/aroace el.

I couldn’t find a good picture of their reunion but they were so happy when they saw each other again!! Will was so sweet with El when she was being bullied and it’s obvious that El cares about him too. Yeah, Will was moody and kinda rude in the rink-o-mania scenes but that’s because he was jealous and lonely, and you guys are acting like you’ve never bickered with your siblings or friends before.

Don’t pit them against each other just because they like the same guy.
