Here is my entry for @where-does-the-heart-lie ‘s 1 year DTIYS!! I hope ya like it!! 🌷

Um, me being chatty AND close ups of the boys below!!

This took, so long to finish. Months I tell ya. Not cause it was difficult per se, it was done with markers, pens, gel pens, and a bit of color pencil. But it was such a CHALLENGE!! I have never colored fire before so trying to figure it out and how it affects the clothes, skin, etc., has been so so neat!!! And drove me nuts!!! But it’s done, the boys are here!

I just, thought it would be nice to incorporate all of the brothers for this cause why not?? They are everything, they are the MOMENT, the blorbos!!!! Also something poetic here about being there for each other and brotherly bonds and love and all that wonderful jazz ✨

And now!! Those close ups I promised. Just mostly on their faces cause I’m proud of them (Ace’s gave me so much trouble for NO reason the beloved bastard 😭)

Spider crab's name is just a place holder for now, much like a lot of the crew has.. I want to give them all proper names at some point. Like Ellie and Louis have.. But I'm just really bad at coming up with names for stuff- <XD 💔💔

For Luigi- no one in particular! I just wanted to draw him with that expression <XD And don't worry, Mario cheered him up in the end :}}

As for the FNAF doodle, thats Foxy, Roxy and Mangle! I get that its hard to recognize her by her side profile and without color though-- <XD I had experimented with some ideas of a pirate themed Glamrock Mangle being added to one of the AUs. Though that sketch was the only one I really liked. :/

I have seen Encanto! :D It was alright, I liked the living house aspect of it :00

As for Red, I thiiink he might be too young to understand fusion or how to do it.. I pictured him being.. like what, five? Or something? That's like half the age of when Steven first learned to fuse-

That, and it felt a little odd for him to fuse with any of the crew, since they're all so much older than him. :/

He could block any oncoming attacks with his unbreakable claw arm, then whip around and launch whole watermelons and pies with the other XDD He would probably think it was fun too!

I always kind'a felt like a certain.. gloomy-ness, would be fitting for him. He already has some of that in the game. But with everything my Freddy's been through.. just.. having this weight to his tone. This lingering exhaustion.. I felt like it would suit him. :(

Hmm... I imagine that Seam and Jevil would be options.. Maybe in bad cases Calico Jack would.. Almost everyone in FNAF is an option <XD

No.. in a sad twist of fate, no one ever heard his cries in the dungeon. Imagine how much more lonely he felt becuase of that..

I don't know if he gets phantom pains from getting beat up.. but I imagine his horn stumps give him some aches and soreness that can be attributed to phantom pain.. :(

Who's gingerbrave? That's the main character right..? I have no idea if he'd come across my crew.. I don't know what kind of shenanigans he gets up to.. wait "gang"? He travels in a group with other people??

Ah yes! The idea behind that was to show the initial divide between Grillby and Spamton.

You see, Spamton hails Jevil as his savior of sorts. He was at his lowest low, and in unimaginable pain.. then Jevil just swoops in and offers his hand. Bringing him outside of his AU. Away from the pain, away from the torment.. Jevil is awesome!!

But then you've got Grillby.. Jevil saved him from his AU right before it collapsed in on itself. He "saved" his life, but at what cost? Grillby lost everything. And he cant help but be angry at Jevil for it. Thinking that if Jevil hadn't been there, he could have just peacefully disappeared along with his family and everyone else in his AU..

So Spamton is endlessly respectful towards Jevil, and Grillby cant help but roll his eyes and spit sass at him all the time. Those two opposing views are bound to cause problems someday..

I imagine one day the whole group is tired and cranky. Jevil did something that Grillby didn't agree with. Some bitter remarks there, Spamton defending Jevil's decision here.. some back and fourth and next thing you know a fight breaks out. :x

I pictured Yendo being another one of Funtime Foxy's nightmare-ish visions. Though I should consider passing that onto Bon Bon.. 👀

The story goes that Funtime Freddy is a frequent flyer in parts and service. The employees groan that there's always something wrong with Freddy that needs fixing. Nobody really knows why..

Now at some point Freddy was shut down and in parts and service. As per usual.. Foxy was nearby, and heard a sudden thud/crash coming from that room. He rushes inside to see what happened and finds Funtime Freddy on the floor, what ever he was propped up on had broken, causing him to fall.

He looked at Freddy's face.. and.. his face plates were wide open..

Foxy. freaked. out. If I remember correctly, he was supposed to start shouting and panicking. Trying to help Freddy, thinking he was hurt. When he couldn't move Freddy and he wouldn't wake up, Foxy ran out of the room to get help. He runs into some employees and tried to tell them what happened. They end up just forcibly shutting him down because he cant stop freaking out..

Later on he's reactivated and the rest of the gang is with him. Including Freddy. He uncharacteristically runs to Freddy all worried and frantically inspects his face for injuries. They ask him what he saw but he just.. doesn't have the words to describe it.

Part of the horror is Foxy's inability to understand what he saw. Therefore being terrified of it and being unable to describe it..

After that Foxy began to develop these hallucinations of sorts. Overtime the image of Freddy's skinned face kind'a turns in to its own nightmare. Yendo.. overtime it feels more like "Yendo" is an entity separate from Freddy. Foxy begins to imagine this skinned bear like creature that is out there somewhere.. wanting to hurt Freddy and take his face.. its not fun :(

This idea is still in development. Well, the whole AU is. But this was my initial idea for Yendo :)

Now old man consequences is tricky.. I had intentions of him being this weird vison that Foxy sees now and again. But with recent developments to the AU.. I might need to scrap the old gator. Or at least re-write his role and function in the AU-

And as for the question, I pictured that Mario never really liked the ice flower to begin with. I imagined Mario loving the heat and the sun. Always enjoyed being warm/hot and functions the best in it.. You know like a maniac-

So the Fire flower was naturally his favorite powerup. And that experience did leave Mario with some kind of trauma, which just added to his dislike of it..

hi im really interested in your hot takes on the classpects. as i was reading through that post about how homestuck is about breaking or following the narrative my first thought was about how this probably leads to a very different interpretation of the classpects than ive usually seen, but im not sure if im familiar enough to think it all out myself - and then i saw you mention offhand you have Hot Takes about it so. color me curious?

YOU ARE QUITE RIGHT IN THAT ASSESSMENT!

ok here's my take: it's literally Not That Deep. sburb is an incomplete RPG, not a deity or a greater consciousness. it doesn't actually know what is good for the players personal development. it is entirely skin-deep.

this is reflected in the performatively hollow echeladder mechanic, and in the sprites- who, lest we forget, are NPCs. that's why they're so 'mysterious.' they exist only to keep players on track, and 'the following quest objectives are HIGHLY PERSONALIZED to help you reach your full potential! great answers await you!' is a line written to serve that purpose. jaspersprite drops the facade a little bit and reveals he has no idea what he's talking about, the game is just making him say it

in keeping with this, classpects are not determined by people deep interior selves. they are determined by surface-level observations and by party optimization. the game generates a handful of possible classpects based on traits like 'bookish,' 'pirate' and 'cheerful,' then cross-references that with balanced team builds. the alpha session, being less complete, lacks the party optimization algorithm

Roxy is a do-good hacker (criminal) who uses an appearifier, she's a rogue who makes stuff appear out of nothing. Dirk carries on about being a leader and being toxic, he's a prince who destroys souls. Jake is weak/insecure and ignores reality, he's the 'untapped potential' class with the power to imagine things into existence. Jane is the only one who seems a little less literal, and I suspect that has to do with the Condesce, since she was the one who released the sburb alpha. Condy is a life player, therefore Jane is a life player (plus, she has that penchant for foiling assassination attempts, avoiding death) and she's a maid because Condy wants a handmaid

Aradia robs graves, Dave collects dead things, Caliborn is into murder, time is the death aspect. Callie, Jade, and Kanaya are all artists, space is the creation aspect. Karkat fantasizes about being a member of the royal army and he's obsessed with his blood, he's a knight of blood. I could go on but you get the point lol. classpects are superficial and depend heavily on what balances well, not your personal truth

likewise, I think your average '[closest object to you] + [current weather condition] = your sburb planet' type meme is pretty much exactly how the sburb planets actually work. they're not 'designed to challenge people' beyond the literal quest challenges

i think this reading immediately clears up a lot of apparent inconsistencies in the comic, like how Dave's planet is his own personal hell while Vriska's planet is her own personal heaven. the game doesn't actually know how they feel about these things or what would help them grow

Where is Foxy?

From what I see in the fandom, people think that Foxy was repurposed into Roxy. I don't think that this is the case.

In Security Breach, Foxy is nowhere to be seen, instead replaced by Roxy. But that doesn't make sense.

Firstly, Foxy was never really part of the main band. He was a sideshow, a later addition. There was no reason to replace him.

Secondly, I have a very hard time believing it is that simple. The videos posted before Security Breach are about Foxy joining the other animatronics. Why Foxy? I am convinced that Foxy has a bigger role to play. Also, we find a secret by finding hidden cardboard cutouts of the old animatronics in a pirate themed outfit, and it is located behind the one that portrays Foxy up front? There is something here.

Thirdly, the imagery that we get in Security Breach does not make it seem like Foxy was replaced. Kid's Cove was the daycare before the daycare, seemingly by Foxy. His imagery seems more cartoonish than the other animatronics, and his poster is by the theatre behind the daycare. It is clear to me that Foxy was originally in charge of the daycare, and only later replaced by Sun and Moon.

The only other animatronic from the main cast we didn't see was Bonnie, and we all know how important that was. Why would Scott not do something similar with Foxy?

All of this is to say, I do not believe that it is as simple as Foxy was replaced by Roxxie. It doesn't make sense in the way that Bonnie was replaced by Monty, and Foxy was clearly around at the start of the Pizzaplex. So what happened to Foxy?

We don't know. At least, not yet. We have yet to find evidence of Foxy's location, but it's probably there in the DLC somewhere. I do not have the evidence to create a theory, but I do have a headcanon.

Micheal actually did take the way out that Henry planned for him in FNAF 6 and turned himself into an AI. This AI became Foxy, purely because that was his favorite animatronic and would probably crush his mental state. As his previous self slowly came more to the forefront, he eventually left and disappeared to try and stop the mimic because HE KNEW THAT WILLIAM WOULD COME BACK THAT SHIT. Anyway, Foxy is a metal artist with a bike stolen from Roxanne (she wasn't using it so it was fair game). He still has the hook because it is cool and also a high voltage taser capable of shorting out electronics. He does have a sword, but he also has a gun. For fun. If Mangle was still around, they could be a drummer. I think that'd be neat.

Interview with Bob Bicknell-Knight

Bob Bicknell-Knight is an artist and curator based in London. He is the director of contemporary art platform isthisit? and co-founder of A217gallery.

Marilyn Roxie of VIDEO HOOK-UPS: What other curatorial platforms, online or off, inspired isthisit?

Bob Bicknell-Knight: There were a few spaces I was interested in and looked to before I launched isthisit?, particularly other digital galleries that showed me that this was an actual possibility. A few years ago I had a fairly naive sense of the internet and wasn’t even aware that online galleries existed. I remember looking at Chrystal Gallery, an online space that literally duplicated the white cube of the stereotypical gallery and Lawrence Lek’s Bonus Levels, particularly A Collective Tower. Made for Art Licks in 2013, this was essentially an artwork that transported 21 London based galleries into an interactive landscape. Still fairly close to simply duplicating the standard offline gallery setting, but that idea of interactivity really grabbed me. I was also seeing Delta Sorority’s online residency program unfold at the time, as well as generally looking at lots of websites that facilitate physical galleries too. In general though I think everything you see and do influences your practice and daily life in various ways, so it’s quite hard to pin these things down to specific inspirations.

VH: How have you found balancing your own personal art practice with curating online and off, and are there ways that these overlap?

BBK: I see everything that I do as one encompassing practice, if I were to split up these labels into different sections it would be impossible to navigate. So I see my curation as an extension of my art and vice versa which allows for a continuous overlap of ideas and interests. This is one of the reasons why I’ve inserted my own artwork into some of the exhibitions I’ve curated in the past, as they’re usually focused around ideas I’m currently interested and invested in. Obviously there are times where I’ll spend more time sending emails for my curation than making actual work, but I think that’s the same across the board these days. Artists have had to adapt and become their own promoters and gallerists, applying for funding and navigating that balance of actual art making with everything else that’s involved with the production of a new piece. So yes, everything overlaps and I think that’s an important way of keeping everything under control and manageable.

VH: What atmosphere and positive attributes do you think the format of an online exhibition lends to video that differs from the traditional physical gallery space with projections or darkened rooms? I have found that there is something intimidating particularly about people actually picking up the pair of headphones offered and listening to the audio accompanying a piece in a physical gallery space.

BBK: For me having a video work available to view in an online space is great. Being afforded the ability to actually spend time with a film, rather than continually worrying about the time or whether there’s a comfortable place to sit, is definitely a positive attribute of having access to video art on the internet. Watching a film in a gallery context can be a frustrating exercise sometimes, which usually translates to watching it when you get home on the internet, although there are many instances of the work being no-where to be found online; a slightly unexpected turn of events when every blockbuster film seems to have been pirated and streamed hundreds of thousands of times. I do understand the necessity for not having a video accessible online, digital editions, exclusivity, etc, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating. Bearing this in mind however, when a video truly grabs you, is installed magnificently and hooked up to an incredible speaker system, truly drawing you in, it’s hard to say that it’s not the definitive watching experience.

I always think of a Jon Rafman installation; sinking into a ball pit or being trapped in a seemingly innocuous piece of office furniture. These are amazing experiences. It’s just not the same when you’re watching in bed, pausing every so often to chat to a roommate whilst simultaneously scrolling through your Facebook feed. It’s a balancing act.

In the hyper-connected world of today, constantly multi-tasking, I sometimes see an immersive video work as an excuse to simply relax into it, to put down your phone and just watch it. Who needs to check Instagram when a snake is swallowing itself in front of you? This is why VR interests me so much, you can no longer look away from the work, and it’s quite hard to take a selfie whilst consuming it.

VH: What do you see as the future of online gallery experiences, for isthisit? or more generally?

BBK: It’s unfortunate, but due to the lack of funding for the majority of online projects, isthisit? and many other spaces like it on the internet are all inherently doomed to fail, fading into the abyss where the domain name will eventually be allowed to expire. They are, and will continue to be, free cultural spaces that involve a lot of time and effort on the part of the unpaid organisers. Obviously that’s a very pessimistic point of view to have, but I feel like it’s an important aspect of these micro organisations that needs to be highlighted.

Bearing this in mind, I obviously hope to continue with isthisit? for many years to come, hopefully having a permanent physical space in the future to realise more experimental offline exhibitions, gaining sponsorships for the magazine and building a portfolio of digital artworks to sell on the shop side of the website. The increased affordability of technology like VR will definitely broaden what can be done on the internet with virtual gallery spaces, although right now there’s a widening hardware class divide that’s never going to be truly resolved. It’s a shame, but after undergoing online projects for a while, I’ve begun to realise that the internet isn’t as great as everyone wants you to think it is.

3) Favorite superhero film?

I’m picking top 3 here. I think my favorite is probably into the spider-verse. It’s so well animated, stylistically interesting, and I adore miles morales. I’d been so nervous about this movie, and I had been keeping track of everything since the moment it was announced, but I was terrified the whole time since Sony pictures animation doesn’t have a great track record. The teaser trailer gave me hope, though. I don’t go to the movies that often, but I went to watch it the day it dropped and it honestly exceeded my expectations.

The second film is Venom. The first venom film, the sequel is fun, but there was something so insane about the way the first one came out that it just has a special place in my heart. I love the venom comics, and I was still thoroughly obsessing over Mike Costa’s venom run when this movie was coming out, but I’m gonna be honest, when I saw the trailer I completely disregarded it. It looked over the top edgy in a 90s comic kinda way. I almost never disregard a movie by trailer alone, but they made the movie look like another BvS or Suicide Squad (2016) (derogatory). I genuinely thought it would be like how Morbius turned out. I was so surprised when the reviews dropped and they all said pretty much the same thing— this movie sucks, but it’s sure as fuck fun to watch. I though, hey! That’s my favorite type of movie!! So I gave it a chance, and they were so right. I saw this movie 5 times while it was still in theaters (mostly pirating, but still).

The last movie is The Batman (2022). I actually had a lot of hope for this movie going in, considering how Matt Reeves studied under Jeph Loeb and cited The Long Halloween as a major influence, but I was still a little wary. I really hate the dark knight returns (and frank miller in general), and most Batman movies are to some extent an adaptation of this work. Which sucks. I was really pleasantly surprised by the hopeful turn the movie took, how it denounced miller’s Batman through the use of the Riddler as a parallel. Plus, the cast were all excellent and the visuals were beautiful. I’m looking forward to the sequel and hoping they include robin!

6) Favorite Side Character

I really miss Roxy Leech from Superboy’s solo run. All of kon’s supporting cast disappeared after his solo ended and it sucks. She was like a sister figure to him and she’d bring a lot to comics now. I also love Bernard Dowd. He left such an impression in the few issues he appears in, and now he’s back as Tim’s Boyfriend!! That’s huge! He hasn’t had a chance to shine yet recently, I hope he’s still an absolute bitch. I also miss prudence wood, from Tim’s Red Robin run. She had so much potential, bring her back dc!

(A few months ago I’d have probably had spider-punk on this list, but he’s got a solo now!! Not a side character anymore lol)

8) Favorite team up

Young Justice!!!! YJ 1998 my beloved! What a team! I don’t really care for the animated series, it’s totally unrelated to the comics and I can’t get behind their adaptation of kon. He’s so bland and whiny. YJ 1998 is so funny, the characters are so bizarre and they’re all completely unhinged about each other. Love those guys

13) A villain who genuinely scared you

I don’t know that any particular villain has ever like, really scared me? But I do find something viscerally horrifying about like, all of Al Ewing’s immortal hulk. It’s such a good run. It tackles a lot of heavy themes well. (Shame the artist turned out to be a shitbag, but I refuse to let that ruin the story for me. He didn’t write it, after all.)

I guess I could say the joker here, not because the character himself particularly scares me, but because of what he’s come to mean to incels and those types. It’s dangerous when a character can become a symbol for such hateful groups to rally under.

I am in LOVE with @one-idea ‘s Reverse Strawhats au and when I read the post about Zoan Reindeer user Dr Hiriluk I just had to try my hand at wat he’d look like.

SO, key stuff!

• I wanted to incorporate his key features so ofc his iconic weird ass hair that he has that I kinda incorporated into his reindeer ears since his hair kinda covers his ears anyway?? Seemed fitting

• ALSO ofc he’s older and grayed so gray reindeer gives him a distinct, neat winter look especially with his cool tan antlers

• I thought it would be so sweet if he put Chopper’s iconic ‘x’ shape on his own hat in honor of his son (tried giving it a bandaged look? Idk if that hit)

• another tribute to Chopper!! With his antlers having that same shape on the forward part being the same as his. Shows u wat’s in his heart

• u can’t see if very well because his hat sits on it, but I wanted to include his little nose bump ✨

• also again, old man, give him a BIG shoulder hump, along with his more human features of a scruffy mustache beard poking out too hehe

Okay got a FNAF take. I know Foxy is usually thought of as one of the "Main 4" in terms of the band, but lately I've been seeing him as mostly his own independant artist that also happens to join up with the band. With Monty and Roxy both being added to the core band, and being VERY GOOD additions at that, I've started to see the Fazbear gang as a 5-to-6-man band at the group's peak.

Chica can do both vocals AND/OR guitar

Foxy being an accordion player adds one hell of a flair to the band, especially considering how versatile accordions actually are. Depending on the type, foxy could bring an entire orchestra of sound. It's also why I find it likely he'd do his own thing (plus he's a PIRATE)

Monty of course is a bass player, although with his whole backstory being a one-man JUG BAND of all things he probably has skills with a few unconventional instruments (an actual jug, a banjo or even a washtub bass).

Roxy having a keytar is neat as hell. There's a lot of cool things she could do considering how versatile a keytar is.

Honestly that's a pretty unique lineup of instruments and talents.

I'm surprised there isn't a drummer among them though xD

Now now! Its okay, those bandages are a bit exaggerated considering the source material. XD

The bandages are supposed to kind’a represent “artist hands”. At the time of making my sona I wanted it to have something else in its design. Instead of it just being a grey figure with a scribbly head. At the time my hands were covered in a comical number of Band-Aids due to my excessive hand washing and drawing..

So I thought Bingo! My sona’s an artist like me right? It should have some busted up hands to represent artist hands! So I gave it the cartoony bandaged hands and added the blood for more drama and color. And I thought it was kind’a neat since I love drawing angsty things so having bloodied hands kind’a hinted at my “dArKeR nAtUrE” or that I have a lot of characters blood on my hands XD

Now although my skin often peeled and bled due to the reasons mentioned above, they were never that bad, so don’t worry XD

When it comes to my sonas head though? Its a bit harder to remember..

But I think when I started making my sona, I gave it grey skin and no gender specific anatomy for anonymity’s sake. When it came to drawing the head I.. wasn’t sure what to do. I knew I wanted it to be an object head sona, but I didn’t know what to put as its head!

A pencil? A sketch book? A paint brush? I couldn’t decide. Eventually I got a little frustrated and scribbled out the last failed head I had drawn.

..But then that gave me and idea. I made a scribbly blotch on top of the neck and added two little white eyes. Perfect!

I have thought about what that scribbly head might actually be,, I guess its a visual representation of my mind..? But not in like an angsty way, more.. comical? I can see Factual just reaching its arm into its head and pulling out and idea to draw, you know, stuff like that XD

I have also drawn the head as a goopy blob before when I was down in the dumps, so maybe it also changes its properties to match my emotions? In all honesty I haven’t though a lot of this through XD

When I draw my version of the Glamrock Animatronics, whether it be their Glamrock theme or their diner theme.. I tend to imagine them as separate animatronics with really intelligent AI, as opposed to the original 4 possessed animatronics.

The idea so far is that the pizzaplex used to look more family diner themed. Monty and Roxy were there but they were set up in their own attractions and never came up on stage. They were also family diner themed.

Bonnie and Foxy were around in this diner era, they had the bowling ally and Pirates cove as their separate attractions,, but for special events or big blowout birthday parties, Bonnie and Foxy would leave their attractions, pick up their instruments and preform a big show with Chica and Freddy.

After Foxy was banned and Bonnie broke down, the business was starting to tank a little so they re-themed everything to be all futuristic and what not.

Business BOOMED after the re-theme. Monty and Roxy also got redone and now they do what Foxy and Bonnie used to. They stay in their own attractions for most of the time. But during special events or big blowout birthday parties they pick up their instruments (that they didn’t have before Foxy and Bonnie) and preform a big show with Chica and Freddy.

Man XD That sounds like a crazy dream for sure!

Unfortunately, it is always possible for me to leave Tumblr at some point for any reason.. although I don’t plan on it, so I think you’re good for a while! 😅

As for the animation, I can see the thought behind it and I’m flattered.. but you know how it is.. I just don’t like fanworks of my stuff. <:/

I’d like to think that in the Mega Pizzaplex, everyone is family to some extent. Well, at least to Freddy XD

I‘d like think that the original four are super tightknit, like siblings. While everyone else is in the ranks of either “close friend” or just “friend”.

Ok so you know how artists can do vent art/vent doodles? What if musicians had the same thing?

I wasnt getting anywhere with my homestuck Redglare fan theme so i just wanted to fuck around with instruments and sing pirate songs while i had peace and quiet to do so but it turned into a crappy impression fest and i recorded it. Its kinda vent-y i guess, it was cathartic. I spared you the “larry the cucumber/bob the tomato during sex” impressions. Youre welcome.
