Super Suits
I just finished listening to the fourth episode of Super Suits, and I have to say I love it.
Harper Hallow is a treasure and is to be protected at all costs.
Bonnie and Collette are the sassy ladies in the office we all wish we worked with, and were a great way to introduce the law firm without dropping Harper directly into the weirdness without giving them any kind of warning.
Aside from the vampirism, Malcom Aria seems to be the basic Ben Meredith character. He's tired, grumpy, and probably doesn't take care of himself, and is the one running the show.
They just introduced Malcom's brother, Phil, as played by Tim Meredith, and I absolutely adore the dynamic between the two of them. Mal and Phil do not get along to a point where Harper had to warned that they might have to bail Mal out of jail at some point.
I don't know how many of you guys have listened to Stellar Firma or the RQG specials where Tim Meredith guest-starred, but if you put the Meredith brothers together in the same room as a microphone, the results tend to be chaotic, and this is no exception.
They also let the narrator (whose name is not, surprisingly, a variation of John) and Malcom interact, and the two do not like each other. When Harper asks Malcom why he keeps glaring at the stenographer, Malcom simply replies, "He knows what he did." And, of course, the dislike is not only returned, but is passive-aggressive right up to the point when Malcom decked him.
At this point, I can't wait to see where this goes.

I’m back on my bullshit of super late gameplay! Thank you to @sparklepocalypse @onthewaytosomewhere @taste-thewaste @hgejfmw-hgejhsf @wordsofhoneydew @piratefalls @firenati0n @priincebutt for the tags! Tag is OPEN to anyone else who might not have participated yet ❤️
The last several days has seen a slightly Herculean effort on my part to write Chapter 17 of Rule Britannia which I posted on Monday. But it’s technically a WIP so I’m gonna post a hopefully intriguing snippet of a big reveal!
Silence fell between them once again, so quiet that they could just about make out the music that Alex had been listening to, which he’d turned down out of fear that it would reveal too much about his heartache and state of mind.
Too late. “Henry’s favourite aria,” Philip remarked. “‘Un bel di vedremo’ from Madama Butterfly.”
“I like opera,” Alex grumbled. “I’m not entirely a terribly uncultured American.”
But Philip was lost in the music, even as he seemed to turn inwards, looking positively defeated and unregal in Alex’s secondhand Ikea armchair.
“Time and time again I fail to protect him,” Philip murmured, unshed tears in his eyes when the song finally ended.
Alex looked up at him, contemplating a sharp retort about how Philip had been pimping out Henry, which was hardly protection. But Philip looked like a man on the verge, so Alex kept his mouth shut and let him speak.

James Ivory and producer Ismail Merchant had a collaboration that began with the formation of Merchant Ivory Productions in 1961 and lasted until Merchant's death in 2005. It usually included the screenwriter Ruth Prawer Jhabvala. The trio developed a reputation for literary adaptations that were beautifully filmed with opulent sets and costumes and a gallery of celebrated stars -- most of them British. But the trouble with developing a distinctive style is that you can become a cliché: "Merchant Ivory" eventually became a label for a film that was tastefully middlebrow -- well-done and entertaining but just a tad safe. It's a pity, because their best films -- Howards End (1992), The Remains of the Day (1993), and this one -- set a high standard, despite their "safeness." Few films have a better sense of place and time than A Room With a View in its depiction of Florence at the start of the 20th century. Granted, it leans a bit too heavily on the cliché about stuffy Brits losing their cool in the warmer climate of Tuscany, but that's the fault of E.M. Forster's novel -- not one of his major works -- and not of Jhabvala's Oscar-winning screenplay. Oscars also went to the art direction team and to costumers Jenny Beavan and John Bright, and it was nominated for best picture, for the supporting performances of Denholm Elliott and Maggie Smith, for Ivory's direction, and for Tony Pierce-Roberts's cinematography. The cast includes Helena Bonham Carter (in her "corset-roles" period) and Julian Sands, along with a then little-known Daniel Day-Lewis. Proof that Day-Lewis is one of the greatest actors of all time is no longer needed, but it's worth contemplating that he created the character of the prissy Cecil Vyse in this film within a year of appearing as the gay street punk Johnny in My Beautiful Laundrette (Stephen Frears), and that he would follow with the sexy Tomas in The Unbearable Lightness of Being (Philip Kaufman, 1988), the paralyzed Christy Brown in My Left Foot (Jim Sheridan, 1989), and the dashing Hawkeye in The Last of the Mohicans (Michael Mann, 1992). Day-Lewis's Cecil Vyse verges on a caricature of the sexually repressed Brit, but he has an affecting moment near the end when, after Lucy (Bonham Carter) breaks off their engagement, he emerges as a vulnerable, three-dimensional character. Richard Robbins's fine score is memorably supplemented by Kiri Te Kanawa's recordings of two Puccini arias: "O mio babbino caro" from Gianni Schicchi and "Chi il bel sogno di Doretta" from La Rondine.

Aria whistled, surveying the wreckage of Mars - still a disaster - parts of it still ablaze, collapsing with only a handful of the buildings left standing in full. Not a planet she’d visited before, and with Shepard - glitching, for lack of a better word - the chances of them uncovering anything of value here, like a way to communicate with Earth or a way off this red rock, were staggeringly low. Standing beside her, she listened to her mumble.
Rather than being rebuilt post mortem by Lawson, the surviving nano-assemblies snatched her from the moment of her death, leaving her with the sensation of it programmed into her every cell, dying all the time but never decaying. Acid rose intracellularly, cytoskeletons collapsed inwards as membranes ruptured, everything spilling inside out being digested by itself, but never finishing the cycle, never being sloughed or discarded.
“Nonbeing. Consciousness of unconsciousness.” She stood on - on nothing, looking into a void, surrounded by nothing. “Nothing.” Strange concept; a vast, infinite space possessing no real material entity, devoid of even time and space itself. “Quantum vacuum.”
Eris knew quantum mechanics allowed two observers to experience different, conflicting realities; perhaps she had become a victim of quantum flux, asynchronous with normal matter, shifting between alternate quantum realities. One of which was her still trapped in that infernal machine, another in which she’d been rescued.
Perhaps she was dead, and this, the underworld. She’d always found it funny, the Sol Systems relay name of Charon, the ferryman who transports the dead across the river Acheron to the underworld. If one has the coin, of course. A Keres in life, and more of the same now.
