fanghua, gift-giving.
we had to find out from yi-ge and shunxi's conversation in behind-the-scenes footage that li lianhua's fur cloak was a gift from fang duobing and last week, from iqiyi's graphics of props, that fang duobing's jade flute was a gift from li lianhua. what else is there about fanghua we’re not allowed to know about!
cheng yi: "[li lianhua] is rich for once! finally, it's his turn to be rich! yet, it was thanks to someone else 😂 (to zeng shunxi) this fur cloak is yours, you know that? you can't even bear to wear it yourself. you gave it to me."
the fur cloak that makes xiaohua look like a polar bear was a gift from xiaobao after all:
importantly, this is the fur cloak xiaohua carries with him to the very end.
personally, i see both xiaohua and xiaobao as incredibly and admirably well-adjusted individuals i aspire to be. together, their relationship is less about the "redeeming each other" trope. to me, fanghua is more like, xiaohua met someone who brings an extra layer of warmth to his skin, until one day he realizes he is here for good, like a blanket he never wants to return. we get this personified in xiaobao's fur cloak xiaohua keeps to the end despite letting go of all other mortal possessions on the beach, how wonderful is that.

xiaobao's jade flute he carries with him at his waist being a gift from xiaohua feels so much like the classic 定情信物 (token of love) and breakup trope 😭
personally, i love both options whether the jade flute is xiaobao's own or if it was a gift from xiaohua. before, i was thinking the jade flute as a personal item of xiaobao's could be a symbol of his free nature, in that yes, he's entering the jianghu to be a formal detective who (truly) embodies li xiangyi's ideals, but he also would enjoy a carefree life endlessly travelling with li lianhua. so, breaking that in tears in their big fight could represent him trying to be firm on returning to the detective route and wondering if he was so naive enough to give his heart out to someone and picturing settling down into a quiet life with that person (before they make up).
but now, as a gift from xiaohua, it's completely that classic 定情信物. it re-frames the first little break-up in such an amusing way. they "break up," and xiaobao goes off flaunting the gift xiaohua gave him and touches it to his skin in front of everyone, like he's waiting for xiaohua to admit he still cares about him. because what was that jade flute gift if not proof that he saw him as a close companion? 😤
from xiaohua's smiles and clearly showing interest in xiaobao's antics, he knows exactly what xiaobao is doing 😂
isn't it also such a nostalgic, amusing, and charming little classic story to have a rich young master who has a lot of money of his own he can spend with a wave of a hand but walks around everywhere with a small gift he holds close more than anything because it’s from someone he likes? with both the showing off and carrying it everywhere he goes, truly — xiaohua knows exactly what xiaobao has been doing.

During drama fanmeet, Yibo asked fans to leave suggestions on what they want as a benefit for achieving 10k heat and support. And he chose a solo concert!
According to a report from Skyline (concert organizer), Yibo will be doing a solo tour in the second half of the year.

In relation to the issue i spoke about yesterday, some more melon/entertainment accounts on weibo started making more of a fuss. even if the whole video was out, they “interpreted” da peng’s expressions into something bad, so DP clarified in the best way. lol. why? you all insecure he was able to do a premiere and roadshow that successful in a different country? 😂😂😂😂
and we all know which group was all over the comments of all those initial posts. 🍤🍤🍤. honestly. i love xz but his big name fans on weibo are operating like yxh accounts. i hate bringing this up but i’ve had enough of them. 🏍️🏍️🏍️ are not perfect, even us, bxgs have our own faults. but these aquatic creatures are too much. i just hope it doesn’t turn off people in the industry, not wanting to work with xz cause his fans are too risky or have attacked them before.
ANYWAY, evil will never win. Karma will do it’s thing in due time.
“Fandom” operation on Weibo is so messy so i’m always disappointed when international fans try to adapt it on certain platforms. 💀💀💀💀

I sit down at the piano and turn on the piano recorder. Recording the tune I’ve played, I send it to Victor.
Victor’s Text: I heard the music you sent me. What made you think of playing this one?
MC’s Text: Actually, I just wanted to rehabilitate my fingers. It’s been a while since I’ve played, and I’m a bit rusty.

I really wish that post-canon Wei Wuxian and Lan Xichen and Lan Qiren have a real conversation about what happened at Burial Mound's first siege, like the Lans have to deal with the fact that they fucked up and their clan broke their own precepts when they participated to the siege and innocents were killed. I mean, A-Yuan - Lan Sizhui - would be dead without Lan Wangji, they haven't considered it?
I know, wwx doesn't hold grudge, preferably he would like to forget his past traumas and go on with his new happy life, and he wouldn't even want an apology from the Lans, but still I think clarification is needed here, especially since we see in the extras that wwx is not really really welcomed in gusu, lan qiren bears his presence only for lan zhan's sake but we can see he is irritated and wouldn't want him there. After all he stills considers wwx as a negative influence.
This makes me frustated, there is a plausible risk that he will fall back into his old bad coping mechanism (not talking about his own pain or undermine it with a smile), and yes I understand that now he has LWJ's love and what else could he ask for, he's finally happy and safe, no need to think about other people! but he doesn't even have to do the job, I want to see a change and a different approach from lan qiren and lan "you were his only mistake" xichen.
After all they are a family now, they live within the same sect, they share the same home, how can they go on like this? It doesn't look like really good or idyllic to me, even though wwx is really a positive person and he overcame worse hardships than this, I think he deserves a home where he's fully supported by all the people there, where he can be openly admired for his talent (wwx being junior's teacher is just a popular headcanon), especially after his bitter past in the jiang sect etc..
Maybe it's destiny, life can't be always perfect in every aspect, maybe they'll never be really a one big family because that would be a bit unrealistic, maybe I should keep the lwj's extra letter for mid-autumn festival when lan qiren looks more supportive as personal favorite headcanon, but I think an honest clarification, heart to heart, admitting their mistakes and faults, learning they can be better, and then moving on, with no sourness, is good for all of them.

i just wanna say that supertopics are maintained by moderators who are also fans of the artist. you can only post and share when you are already at a certain “level” as well. you can be blocked of course, and that’s all up to mods, for example, if they see you are a fan of another person, which will be obvious if your pfp is that person or what you post about on your blog is about them. you can also be reported by other members. it’s not rocket science. you can view what other STs people are joined in. it’s not all bad, it is a way to stop hate posts from other fandoms as well. just to make sure everyone is a fan of that one person. other times, some members may be banned for a certain number of days if they do something against the rules of the ST. that’s all. just sharing some facts. 💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻
