I always look forward to nights like these. You, me and my flatmate Wesley are all off of work and we’re having dinner at home. You’ve been so kind as to set out a variety of crisps and crackers because you know I love to have an appetizer and beer before dinner. Speaking of dinner, that’s what you’re preparing now.
Even with your hair in a claw clip and sauce stains on your oversized t-shirt, I think you look beautiful. You’re bare legs and big round glasses are making me melt for you. That focused look you get while your cooking is so intriguing. You squint your eyes and stick your tongue out a bit; a habit you probably picked up from me.
You’re serving us now. Spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread. You make it for me almost every other week, but I never get tired of it. Every bite tastes like home to me. I gave you a small squeeze as you sat beside me. It doesn’t take you long before you’re telling us stories that make our stomachs hurt from laughter. You’re the funniest person I’ve ever met and I love that everyone else around me agrees.
I know you get embarrassed about how clumsy you are and how you always end up with food on your face during meals, but I never mind it. I love reaching over to wipe your face with my napkin. You tell me “Thank you” in the sweetest voice and it feels less like a chore and more like my favorite hobby.
After Wesley turns in, comes my favorite part of the night. I stay in the kitchen helping you with dishes. Our radio is still on and we’re quietly talking about our days. When dishes are done, we linger around the kitchen. It always ends with you in my arms as we gently sway to our favorite love songs. I hear you mumbling “I love you” into my chest and I’m the most content I’ve ever been. I tell you “I love you too” back as I kiss the top of your head repeatedly.

so uhm. . .my boyfriend is amazing.
i have a lot of issues. . .like, a LOT!!! but he always has time & patience to help me through it.
yesterday i felt bad to have a(nother) full down meltdown coz of my anxiety and you what he said?? he said he's hurt that i don't want to cry in front of him coz he wants to be there for me. yeah - broke me down right away.
i can't even imagine how difficult it is for him that i have such a hard time opening up to him sometimes. or having me have such major trust issues and being so easily triggered. i can't stand myself most bad days, but he will spend all day & night with me if he sees me in s bad state. i swear the man is made of something else to be so consistently good to me. he does everything he can to make me feel secure and, honestly, that effort is something my own parents never gave me.
meeting him & having him in my life is the luckiest thing that's ever happened to me. he's my best friend & i'm so grateful for him. . .he's perfect.

Um hello @jjofalltrades - best ask ever!! It was surprisingly not very hard to select the stories that resonate the most with me. What was surprising is how varied they were in terms of fandoms...
In no particular order, my five favorite fics :)
Old Love (m) - The Vampire Diaries/The Originals crossover AU featuring the one and only Caroline Forbes on a self-discovery journey that obvi ends with her and Klaus Mikaelson finding their way to each other. It's insane to think this story is nearly a decade old, but it's always going to be near and dear to my heart because it helped me deal with a shit-ton of grief...the true definition of art healing.
The Last Time (e) - Game of Thrones (TV)/ASOIAF modern AU focused on Arya and Gendry reconnecting after a decade apart. If you've been following me for some time, this one should come as no surprise. I've had this story in my head for 3 years and counting, and I am determined to finish. She my baby and I love her.
hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me (e) - Game of Thrones (TV)/ASOIAF modern au where Arya and Gendry can't seem to get their sh*t together and f*ck instead...lolol. Seriously though, this one is so special to me because I wrote it for @fineosaur, who is one of the treasures I discovered in the gendrya fandom. And it was also the easiest thing I've ever written I think...no thought here just inspiration.
surest thing i know (m) - Gossip Girl (TV) post-canon oneshot that fills in the gaps before the five year time jump in the finale. I did a manic re-watch of the original series in early 2021 and I discovered to my delight that despite me being a Dan/Blair shipper through and through, I couldn't let go of this idea of Dan and Serena finding their happy ending after the show did them so diiiirty in the final season. So I wrote my own fix-it...and it was such a liberating and fun experience. I still reflect on it from time to time like the dork that I am.
you undid me like a fairytale (m) - Game of Thrones (TV)/ASOIAF modern au where Arya has to contend with some very intense and unclear feelings for Jon's bestie, Gendry...featuring appearances by grumpy!Gendry, perfectboyfriend!Ned, and one of my favorite love confessions I've ever written. Also helps that I wrote it for one of the sweetest humans ever @beautifulinsanesanity. <3
Honorable mention goes to my 2020 Gendrya Big Bang submission: after me comes the flood. It wasn't the easiest fic to write but it turned out exactly as I envisioned & I got to work with the talented @thedesignateddriver on the fan art.

His close friends and his siblings never expect him to date someone younger than him.
You were four years younger than Kita and met him when you returned from the city to visit your grandparents.
He was delivering rice to your grandparents, and they invited him for lunch, and that's how you were introduced to him, officially.
Since Kita delivers his rice to restaurants in the city, he would visit you as well, just as friends, at the start.
Then you two got closer, and you confessed to him first, but he rejects you first.
Because you were too young for him, and you were still in university.
But, you never gave up. For two years, you tried to woo him with different methods of confession, and he gave in.
The reason for rejection was you just turned eighteen when you first met him, and he was twenty-two, which made him uncomfortable.
He thought you had a little crush on him and decided to tease him about it, but you were hella serious about him.
Your parents approved him too since they are in love with his rice and he is husband material.
So, you two started dating after two years of wooing him.
He would designate a day in the week to come up to the city to come and visit you and go out on a date.
Kita Shinsuke never misses a date.
After the date, Kita would send you back to your apartment, and once he ensures you are safe and back into your unit, he goes home.
Not a single day does he miss calling you and asking if you have eaten. He would be upset if you skip a meal.
Kita doesn't treat you like you are a baby, he treats you equally, and you love him for that.
Respects your boundaries and gets along with your friends. #perfectboyfriend.
You two enjoy volleyball, and when you learned that he played volleyball before, he brought you to play volleyball on one of your dates.
Kita cooks and cleans and does the household chores, but now you moved in with him after graduation, you cook with him, clean with him and shares his burden.
His grandmother loves you and has been asking when Kita will ask for your hand in marriage.
Kita would wake up earlier than you, kiss you on your forehead and starts his day first.
When you wake up, breakfast would be ready, and he would be in the fields already. You would clean up the house after breakfast and does some administrative work.
After he comes back from the field, you would be in the midst of preparing lunch, and he would greet with you a kiss before heading to the shower first.
Working with your partner will not be smooth sailing, but you two would always work it out after the fight.
You two would finish cleaning the house and hang out the laundry to dry.
It will be your turn to go to your fruit orchard to check how your fruits are doing.
"Shin-chan! I harvest the melons! It's a good harvest! Let's go deliver it to our neighbours and your family then my family!"
It was a new sight that he discovers of you. He has never seen you this excited over some melons, but these were just not any melons; these were the babies that you took months to grow.
You were so glad that they grew out fine and ready in time for summer. Kita watches you from the living room as you wrap the fresh melons into a neatly packaged gift basket for your next-door neighbours and for his family, and some for your family.
After that, you stored some of the melons in the refrigerator for you two to consume later.
"Babe, I'm going to go shower now. Go get changed so we can go deliver the melons later! Love ya!" He chuckles and watches you skip into your shared bedroom.
Often, Kita wondered how he managed to date you, and now you two are managing a business and living together? He never even thought that his significant other would be younger and four years younger than him. His friends were shocked that when he introduced you to them.
Having a younger girlfriend, it's different, and he is not complaining. He has dated before, and you were a fresh breath of air to him. Though you were younger, you were more mature in certain ways and takes care of him. His previous girlfriends were decent, but you were the ONE.
It might be early to say, but he has already been to some ring shopping with his friends to look for the perfect ring to propose.
"Honey! I told you to go get change! Let's deliver before the sunset, and we go get some dinner in town!" You pout, with your hands on your hip and trying to get him in the room to change.
"Only for you, baby." He got up from the sofa and enters the room.
Since it was summer, you wore a white sundress and let your hair down naturally.
He changed into a white button-up, leaving two buttons open and brown khaki shorts. You looped your arms around his neck and brings him down to a kiss, leaving a lipstick stain on his lip.
You wiped the lipstick off his lips and touch up your own makeup. Unlike Kita, you love spontaneous date nights.
Plus, there was a new sushi place opening up in town, and it was a perfect date spot.
"Alright, sweet pie, let's get our delivery going so we can get on our date." He wrapped his arm around your waist and waltzed you out of the room.

In the end, you guys ended up eating at your parents' place. Since your older siblings were all married and have their own lives, Kita managed to convince you to have dinner with your parents, and you did not regret it at all.
Your father and Kita took over the kitchen while you and your mother chill in the living room.
"When are you and Shinsuke going to tie the knot? I want a grandchild." You stared at your mother as if she had grown a second head.
"Mama, I'm only 22, and you have five other grandchildren to play with." She shook her head.
"That's different. Your nieces and nephews are all grown up; I want a baby. I had you when I was 18! Back in my time..." Your mother starts to talk about how she married young and is enjoying life now.
Well, your mother's request made you think about it too since you and Kita has an age gap too.
Maybe you and Kita can have a little talk about this later...

"Shall we get married soon?" You asked him as you two take a walk after dinner.
He paused in his track and looks at you in confusion.
"Why the sudden marriage talk? Did your mother pressure you again? I'm okay with delaying a few more years, as long you are comfortable with it." He reassured you, which made you let out a sigh of relief.
"Yeah, just give me a few more years. I mean, all these talks are a bit overwhelming for me." You leaned on his shoulder, and he wraps his arms around you.
"Ah, I'm so glad that I met you. I love you sooo much."
"I love you too, my baby."
Ermm, I don't know about dating an older guy or dating in general. I learned that dating a few years and if you feel that your partner is the one and you're ready for commitment and have talked about marriage, I think that might be when you're ready for marriage.
That's just my opinion, you can comment if you have differing views from me. My parents got married within about one to two months after knowing each other👀. It's not a shotgun marriage, I was born two years after their marriage, but my mom told me that there were red flags that she ignored which ended up in a broken family situation now.
