Achilles/Ahkilleus is one of the main characters in the story of the Trojan War, which is the chief subject of The Iliad. He's a young man characterized by his battle prowess and his love for his own. Unfortunately, his fate is a tragic one.

Rereading Tsoa for the second time Is so much more painful. The foreshadowing, with hector, with going mad, with being alone after your love died. With Achilles hopes to be a happy hero. It’s so pAINFULL and TRAGIC

i really did just cry over classical literature twice today huh

What struck me, possibly the most, from The Song of Achilles is when they’re on Scyros and without thinking about consequences or duty or what is ‘proper’ Achilles flings himself “joyously” at Patroclus, enough to knock them both backwards. It is possibly the first time that we see the extent of love and affection Achilles has for Patroclus in a public setting. 

I think it’s stuck with me because it’s pure “incoherent relief”. It’s not what I’d expected to happen. It’s possibly not what Patroclus had expected to happen. But it did, And it was one of those moments that makes you put the book down, then reread the page just to relive it again.

So imagine: patrachilles as hunters or Artemis but instead they’re hunters of Chiron, they get to stay young, happy, in love and Achilles- divine forever. They just roam around mountains and eat figs all day. That’s my idea and my new source of joy.
