Quick Nap - Seth Jarvis
a/n: a small idea that came to me since i watched the clip of him talking about how much he loves naps :)
word count: 869
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a stormy afternoon in Raleigh and you were lounging around on the couch, reading a book and curled up under a blanket. Seth was in his office playing video games, as he usually does on his days off, which he had a couple in a row this time until their next game.
The rain had lightened up a little bit but there was another storm cell that was rolling in, making the house grow dark from the grey, gloomy clouds. The TV was set on the weather channel as you were quietly monitoring it to make sure it wasn’t too severe.
Thunder sounds in the distance and your nerves ease at the sound; reading during a thunderstorm was your favorite kind of vibe, so much so that you had a whole playlist on youtube with ambient rain sounds that you often put on when reading.
But now, the TV was turned down as quiet as it could go and you returned to reading as the storm continues to move in. Moments after the downpour starts, Jarvy comes strolling in, rubbing his eyes with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders. Glancing up from your book, you grin at him and watch him trudge through the living room.
“Hey, you winning?” You ask in reference to the video games he had been playing all morning. He just grumbles and falls onto the couch with you.
You set your book on the armrest of the couch, thinking he wanted to sit and talk or maybe watch a movie, but instead, he curls up beside you and lays with his head in your lap, facing your stomach, his eyes already closed. He doesn’t say a word, and instead sighs heavily and relaxes.
You figured out that all he wanted to do was take a nap, and he wanted to be with you when he did.
It was no surprise that Jarvy loves napping. It’s something he told you on the first date, that he naps a lot and pretty much any chance he gets. And you were very aware that once you two started dating, he enjoyed napping on you, as he claimed it was comfortable and he felt safe.
That last comment from him always felt like a compliment, how he felt safe in your presence enough to fall asleep in your lap. And every chance he got, if you were home and not busy, he was wanting to sleep with his head on your legs.
You smile down at him and look back up at the TV, turning the sound off completely, even though Seth is a pretty heavy sleeper, you didn’t want to disturb him. Finding that he passed out almost immediately, you decide to pause reading your book for now, and instead thread your fingers through his dark hair, running your nails gently along his scalp, a gesture that you know relaxes him and helps him fall asleep.
Just as you were going to change the channel, the power suddenly clicks off with a loud crash of thunder. The sound makes you jump slightly, but Seth remains unbothered, asleep. This man could sleep through anything, and you sometimes envied him for it.
The rain continues to come down, a steady stream of raindrops hitting the roof. Sighing, you pick your book back up and turn on the little battery-powered light that sticks out from the book. You hold the book open with one hand, your book page holder around your thumb assisting you in doing so, and your other hand stayed in Jarvy’s hair.
A couple hours later, the worst of the storm had passed, but it was still raining. As you were going to turn the page of your book, Seth shifts and groans, his body lifting from your lap. He sits up and yawns, rubbing his eyes from the sleep still in them.
“Hey sleepyhead,” you tease, bookmarking your page and setting it down on the coffee table. Seth looks around, confused, noticing the TV off and not a single light on.
“Is the power out?” He asks.
“Yeah. It’s been out for a couple hours,” you tell him. He yawns one more time before curling up into your side, grabbing your hand to hold it, entangling his fingers in yours. “Feeling better?”
“Mhm,” he mumbles, still trying to wake up from his little nap. “I should be good for the rest of the night.”
A chuckle leaves your lips at his comment, your hand returning to his hair.
“I’m not sure when the power is going to come back on, though. So we’ll just have to find a board game or card game or something.”
“Well,” he begins, moving from beside you to grab onto your hips and pull you onto his lap this time. His hands gently rub your hips underneath your shirt, his eyes filled with mischief. “I can think of something that doesn’t require electricity.”
“And what would that be, hm?” You push further, though you are fully aware of what he’s hinting at. Leaning forward, his lips attach to your neck, softly kissing the exposed skin after he moves your shirt slightly.
“I think you know, baby girl,” he whispers.

Summary: Out-of-pocket grid walks and podcasts
As always, my requests are OPEN
MASTERLIST // HITLIST

~~(^Pinterest)
The first race of the season was one for the books. The energy was high, the excitement was through the roof, and all of the drivers were ready to get back to racing. As someone with a moto racing podcast, you were having a blast in the paddock. The plan was you were going to do a Martin Brundle-style grid walk, asking random questions to whatever drivers you could find.
“Jak!” You shouted, running up to your American friend who was walking with Ollie and Kimi. “Can I ask you guys questions for the pod?”
“Don’t say tyre deg,” Jak joked as the other two nodded.
“That's a tequila shot, Jak,” You laughed. “Anyway, I don’t have any on me so, Jak, hypothetically speaking, what would you do if you found a dead body in your hotel room?”
“That’s so random, but I would call my team, I guess?” Jak responded, confused about where the question came from.
“Good to hear you trust your team, sounds like you guys will have a good year,” You stated. “Does this mean you are getting along well with your new team?”
“Yeah, I love the team, and I think we’re gonna do well this year,” Jak beamed.
“Thank you, Jak. Now, Ollie,” You moved the microphone over to Ollie, “You hit me as the type of guy who needs beauty sleep.”
“Where is this going?” He laughed.
“Why is it called ‘beauty sleep’ if you wake up looking like a hot mess? I’ve seen the LAP videos, and you don’t look very beautiful when you wake up,” You teased him.
“Oh you’re one to talk,” He gasped in disbelief, “As if anyone in your opinion looks good waking up unless they’re Pepe!”
“Hey, no need to call me out in my own podcast here!” You jokingly scolded. “I ask the questions. Now, why is it called ‘beauty sleep’ if you wake up looking like a hot mess? I need to know.”
“Maybe it’s not about physical beauty and more about mental beauty,” Ollie quipped. “Ever think of that?”
“No, I did not Aristotle,” You replied sarcastically. “Thank you for bestowing your great mind upon us, oh great one.”
“With pleasure,” Ollie jokingly bowed as he left to follow Jak.
“Kimi! The new man on the block! Tell me, how many pennies do you think would fit in your car?”
“At least five,” Kimi answered immediately and seriously.
“Fair point, thank you,” You replied just as seriously as you moved on to your next target, running after him. “Dennis, do fish drown?”
“NO!” He shouted, started by your sudden appearance. “No, I looked this up and drowning is inhaling water. Fish breathe water, so unless they stop moving and water blocks their gills, they can't drown, but they can suffocate on water.”
“Damn, thanks Bill Nye the science guy,” You said sarcastically as you moved on, beelining for one of your favorite F3 drivers to ask questions to. “Sebastian Montoya, I have a question for you.”
“I love these,” he said to himself before leaning into the microphone and shouting, “Hi Pod!”
“Don’t! I’m the star here,” You joked. “Anyway, if you punch yourself in the face and it hurts, are you weak or strong?”
“Neither, you’re gullible,” He answered.
“Oh, that's a dollar word, look at you go!” You chuckled as you moved on once again. This time you ran into a world champion. “Fernando! My favorite Spanish driver!” You shouted as you ran over to him but not before whispering into the mike, “Lies, Pepe is my favorite.”
“We all know Pepe is you’re favorite, no need to flatter me,” He laughed.
“Well, at least we’re all on the same page,” You dismissed. “In your opinion, what is the worst mode of transportation?”
“Roller skates,” He said after a moment. “The ones with the wheels in a line.”
“What do you have against roller blades, Nando?” You chuckled, genuinely curious.
“I just never learned how to ride them,” He laughed.
“Fair enough, thank you!” You said as you heard back to the Campos garage, knowing Pepe was probably finished with his interview by now. You saw him sitting on the couch in the driver’s room that he shares with Isack, scrolling through his phone. “And here we find the friend of the show, Pepe, in his natural habitat; hiding from everyone.”
“You do know I can hear you,” He chuckled, not even looking up from his phone.
“Oh shit, I thought he was deaf,” You whispered into the microphone, but still loud enough for him to hear. You moved into the room and sat beside him, leaning into his side. “I have a real question for you.”
“Something tells me it’s not a real question, but go on.”
“How does it feel to be in a relationship with the most out-of-pocket moto racing podcaster on the planet?”
“Wouldn’t change it for the world,” He replied as he placed a small kiss on the top of your head. “You should talk to Clement to get on Screaming Meals. I bet that would be the most chaotic episode ever.”
“Don’t give me any more ideas,” You groaned. “Also, I’m trying. James said no.”

Who appears the most in Paperolimpiadi?
Tumblr media
Here we have it! My magnum opus! This story has 27 characters and 250 pages! I spent multiple days on it, so you've got to read the full post, else you can't call yourself a real Atobibster (yes, I'm gatekeeping myself)!
As always I'll feel the need to mention that I only counted panels, and the page number is just calculated from the percentage!
Also, you might notice percentage numbers are a bit lower than usual. And that's of course because this is a very long ensenble story. I'll get more in to that later.
Oh, and there are probably spoilers for Paperolimpiadi! It's very good, so I'll reccomend reading it. It's very long, but if I calculate who appears most in it, you can read it!
Casey - 1 (panel) / 0.19 (pages) / 0.08% (of the story)
Zillia - 5 / 0.99 / 0.4%
O'Hara - 6 / 1.18 / 0.48%
Gallien - 8 / 1.58 / 0.63%
Owl Judge - 11 / 2.17 / 0.87%
Quibble - 17 / 3.36 / 1.35%
Fethry - 27 / 5.34 / 2.14%
Kildare - 30 / 5.94 / 2.38%
Beagle Boys - 31 / 6.14 / 2.46%
Brigitta - 33 / 6.53 / 2.61%
Sock and Gonz - 44 / 8.71 / 3.49%
Portis - 52 / 10.3 / 4.12%
Pete - 56 / 11.09 / 4.44%
Chen - 58 / 11.48 / 4.6%
Ducklien - 60 / 11.88 / 4.75%
Mae Wang - 64 / 12.67 / 5.07%
Trudy - 68 / 13.47 / 5.39%
Gyro - 76 / 15.05 / 6.02%
Jubal - 86 / 17.03 / 6.81%
Rockerduck - 105 / 20.8 / 8.32%
Mickey - 151 / 29.91 / 11.97%
Donald - 154 / 30.5 / 12.2%
Ellroy - 156 / 30.9 / 12.36%
Kim - 240 / 47.54 / 19.02%
HDL - 275 / 54.47 / 21.79%
Scrooge - 382 / 75.67 / 30.27%
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Spectrus mentioned in his Inducks review Donald and Mickey never interact in this story. In fact despite how this story features both Mouseverse and Duckverse characters there aren't that many panels where we see both.
There are 53 panels where we see both Duckverse and Mouseverse characters. Which is about 4.2% of the story. It actually might not be low, it just feels low...
Anyways, let's look at the entry and exit stats. I decided to not count the first couple of pages of explanation and introduction, since that didn't feel like it was part of the story.
Owl judge - 8 (0.63%) / 23 (1.82%)
Gyro - 11 (0.87%) / 571 (45.25%)
Rockerduck - 16 (1.27%) / 315 (24.96%)
Scrooge - 28 (2.22%) / 1262 (100%)
HDL - 38 (3.01%) / 1262 (100%)
Donald - 40 (3.17%) / 1262 (100%)
Kildare - 41 (3.25%) / 163 (12.92%)
Fethry - 44 (3.49%) / 163 (12.92%)
Brigitta - 85 (6.74%) / 315 (24.96%)
Jubal - 85 (6.74%) / 315 (24.96%)
Quibble - 287 (22.74%) / 315 (24.96%)
Kim - 321 (25.44%) / 1262 (100%)
Chen - 374 (29.64%) / 1262 (100%)
Mae Wang - 401 (31.77%) / 1122 (88.91%)
Trudy - 480 (38.03%) / 819 (64.9%)
Portis - 588 (46.59%) / 763 (60.46%)
Pete - 588 (46.59%) / 819 (64.9%)
O'Hara - 592 (46.91%) / 660 (52.3%)
Beagle Boys - 608 (48.18%) / 655 (51.9%)
Ellroy - 664 (52.61%) / 920 (72.9%)
Mickey - 665 (52.69%) / 920 (72.9%)
Sock and Gonz - 959 (75.99%) / 1130 (89.54%)
Ducklien - 959 (75.99%) / 1134 (89.86%)
Gallien - 972 (77.92%) / 1134 (89.86%)
Zillia - 974 (77.18%) / 1134 (89.86%)
Tumblr media
I didn't include Casey for this one because he only appeared in one panel in this one. That panel was panel number 594 at around 47.07%.
I also counted the first time we see some things. The first time we see the magical powder is at panel 342 or 27.1% of the story. The first time we see the camera is at 505 or 40.02%, and the last time we see it is at 1216 or 96.35%. The first time the games become relevant to the main plot (when Scrooge first gets the idea of using the camera for the games) is at 569 or 45.09%. The first time we go to Seoul (outside of flashbacks) is at 869 or 68.86%.
In Denmark this one was listed as an Uncle Scrooge story, and I think that's a reasonable choice. Although I don't think this story really has a main character. And whilst Scrooge does appear in all but one story his percentage in all those stories is usually pretty low. In fact, let's look at the top character's average percentage!
Donald - 16.83%
HDL - 24.6%
Rockerduck - 34.4%
Scrooge - 34.8%
Kim - 38.14%
Mickey - 50.19%
Ellroy - 51.62%
Alright, so this is obviously not what we should use to dertemine the main character... However it is an interesting thing to see.
Anyways, I think I'll leave it as this being a story with multiple characters. I think you could argue that each part has a main character, but I don't think the whole thing has one main character. But I do agree that Scrooge would be the one you should choose if you were to choose one!

Podcast #983: Grid-Down Medicine — A Guide for When Help is NOT on the Way
If you read most first aid guides, the last step in treating someone who’s gotten injured or sick is always: get the victim to professional medical help. But what if you found yourself in a situation where hospitals were overcrowded, inaccessible, or non-functional? What if you found yourself in a grid-down, long-term disaster, and you were the highest medical resource available? Dr. Joe Alton is an expert in what would come after the step where most first aid guides leave off. He’s a retired surgeon and the co-author of The Survival Medicine Handbook: The Essential Guide for When Help is NOT on the Way. Today on the show, Joe argues that every family should have a medical asset and how to prepare to be a civilian medic. We discuss the different levels of first aid kits to consider creating, from an individual kit all the way up to a community field hospital. And we talk about the health-related skills you might need in a long-term grid-down disaster, from burying a dead body, to closing a wound with super glue, to making an improvised dental filling, to even protecting yourself from the radiation of nuclear fallout. Off-The-Clock.
A Blackhat and Whitehat drabble.
Words: 869
After a long day of overseeing her charity organization, Whitehat likes to relax and recharge by sinking into her cozy sofa. She finds solace in escaping into the pages of a timeless classic, losing herself in the vivid imagery and captivating plot. This simple yet fulfilling routine helps her rejuvenate and prepare for the next day's challenges.
In front of her, a gruff voice sneers, " Romeo and Juliet? Really?" The tone is laced with sarcasm as a familiar chill washes over her.
As the voice broke the silence, the woman remained unfazed and responded with a nonchalant "Hm." She acknowledged the presence of someone else in the room by shifting her legs slightly to make room for her uninvited guest. However, her eyes remained fixated on the book she held, indicating her undivided attention to the book instead.
With a disapproving tone and a hint of sarcasm and disgust, Blackhat commented while walking towards the couch, "I see you haven't completely strayed from ridiculous literature."
After making the comment, he took a seat on the couch. His trench coat was removed, his tie was undone, and his sleeves were rolled up, giving the impression that he was also off the clock from a long and tiring day of running his respective organization. In his hand, he delicately held a glass of his whisky.
"So nice of you to join me, Blackhat," she said, her voice smooth and mellifluous in contrast to his. Casually placing her slender legs over his lap and leaning against his chest as if it were a usual routine, an odd sight for being 'enemies'. With an unflustered glint in her eyes, she continued to engross herself in the book without paying any heed to her guest's opinion. Blackhat says nothing about the gesture as he runs his fingers through her hair.
Tumblr media
Despite her visitor's annoyance, she flips through the pages and chuckles. "Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is a timeless and remarkable tale."
As Whitehat raved about the brilliance of Shakespeare's work, Blackhat cut her off with a scoff and a dismissive wave of his hand. "It's a bore," he declared, his contempt for the Bard's writing evident. He absently swirled the amber liquid in his glass.
As Blackhat glanced over her shoulder. "You said you liked it," Whitehat said, looking up from the page and then at Blackhat. Her eyes sparkled with amusement, and her lips quirked up at the corners in a playful smile. Clearly, the woman was enjoying the exchange, and Blackhat couldn't help but feel a bit intrigued and annoyed by the playful demeanor she was so known for, regardless of the topic.
Although Whitehat's statement holds some truth, it is only partially true. The record states that Blackhat only liked the tragic tale because the demise of the two idiotic protagonists directly resulted from their naivety and foolhardiness in pursuing an idealized notion of love. Blackhat laughed when he first read the book. Still, he finds the characters' actions pathetic and misguided attempt at a romantic endeavor.
The man scoffed with annoyance as he clarified, "The only part I found amusing was when the two idiots met their deaths." His eyes narrowed as he glared at Whitehat, emphasizing his point. "Initially, I found their deaths amusing, but now it just lost its charm." He sipped from his glass and leaned against the couch's soft cushions.
The woman's eyes rolled upwards in a gesture of exasperation. "This is a tragic love story, Blackhat." She reminded him, her tone was flat and devoid of emotion as she spoke with a hint of resignation.
"Your point?" he challenged, raising his eyebrow at her.
Whitehat sighed, realizing arguing with Blackhat was futile at the matter. She shook her head, returning to her book but struggling to remember where she left. "Wait, what part was I?"
The bloke seeing Juliet at the ball." He answers as he leans back on the plush couch and takes another sip from his glass filled with amber-colored whiskey. The whiskey felt warm as it trickled down his throat, giving him a sense of tolerance for conversation regarding the tacky novel. Absentmindedly, stroking through her platinum-white hair with his leather glove. The soft strands felt like silk in his hand.
Whitehat's lips curved upwards she glanced towards him. "Looks like someone's paying attention~" she teased.
Blackhat responded with a smirk, his amusement evident as he leaned in closer to her. "I couldn't possibly miss out on such stupidity, my dear," he said with a hint of playfulness.
Whitehat shakes her head at him; his harsh and sarcastic comments do nothing to dampen her reading time. She can tell he's trying to get a rise out of her, but she refuses to engage. Instead, she shakes her head and returns to her book, using his harsh comments as a white noise to help her focus. After a moment, she felt him lean in close, his chest against her back, and she couldn't help but lean into him. Despite his annoying behavior, something about his presence is comforting, although irritating that she can lose herself in her reading once again.

Time for our second prince, my forever love, Chevalier Michel.
𝕬 𝕯𝖎𝖋𝖋𝖊𝖗𝖊𝖓𝖙 𝕿𝖞𝖕𝖊 𝖔𝖋 𝕷𝖔𝖛𝖊
Word Count: 869
There are only a few things Chevalier does not understand about you. He finds it amusing how easy you are to read, your face betraying everything like an open book. Lately, however, your behavior has baffled him quite a bit, seeing as how you ignored the new set of foreign books Benitoite’s first prince sent as a coronation gift.
Even now, as you are seated in his lap, your hands were flipping through the third book in The Royal Romance series, a copy he acquired from a trip to Citrine when he was a child.
“Have you not read this story before?” Chevalier asks, his hand twirling a section of your hair around his finger.
“I have. Quite a few times actually. It doesn’t matter how much I’ve read it though; I always enjoy the story as if it is my first time reading it.”
He smiles, burying his face in your shoulder, knowing full well why the series is a favorite of yours. The Royal Romance is almost identical to how you two came to be together: a prince falling in love with a commoner. Perhaps you found some camaraderie with the story’s female lead.
For a few minutes, Chevalier reads with you and it wasn’t long before he too became engrossed in its pages. With you in his lap, the pair’s tale took on a very different meaning. He remembered scoffing at it even as a child; his only takeaway being how the king’s love for his new queen exposed his kingdom to rebellion and distress.
“They are a beautiful couple.”
“They are.”
He saw you bite a smile threatening to escape before you turn towards him and looked straight at his icy blue eyes.
“I never would have guessed that one day you would agree with me on this. If you were the man you once were when I first met you, you would have scoffed at me and called the King foolish. After all, his love for his queen caused him to almost give up the throne and threatened their kingdom’s security.”
“That fact still holds true. Just because my opinions have changed doesn’t negate the reality that he was willing to sacrifice the future of his people for his own selfishness. However, he was not wrong in choosing her as a queen. If he had chosen another, his love would not have kept him strong enough to defy the forces conspiring against his kingdom.”
This time, you smiled openly, your eyes crinkling with joy. At that moment, Chevalier realized anew just how much you truly meant to him. It was a simple smile, one that he has seen multiple times over since you were together. Still, the novelty of it all has not faded, and his chest fills up yet again with the strange feeling he has come to know as love.
“You are happy,” he comments, his hand awkwardly caressing your cheek.
“I am.” You beamed at him. “I’m glad you saw it the way I did: that their type of love allowed them to overcome all their problems together.”
“Their type of love?”  His brows furrowed for a moment before relaxing.
“Ah. This must be the reason why you insist on reading the romance books we already have on our shelves. You want to show me the different faces of love.”
“Love takes many faces, King Chevalier. You already know of a love that destroys. But there is also a love that builds. There is a love that kills, but one that nurtures as well. Then, there is a love that endures. Like the one shared by the characters in this story.”
“And what of us? What type of love do we share?”
Chevalier’s face comes closer, and you can feel his warm breath against your lips. His hand was still cupping your cheek, touch awkward but achingly gentle.
“The true type of love,” you whisper.
“And what is a true type of love?”
You smile at him and it was like staring at the sun.
“Whatever we have between us, King Chevalier.” You reach for him and wrap your arms around his neck. “It is an understanding love that allowed us to see past our flaws. It is a persistent type of love that insisted on breaking past the walls of our hearts. It is a transformational kind of love... the type of love that turns a beast into a human.”
Finally, your lips meet and Chevalier relishes in the feeling that only you can give him. He wraps his arms around you, your body giving him the warmth he never knew he longed for all his life. He pulls you closer as if vowing to never let go and you do the same to him, clutching his cloak tightly in your hands.
“So, you are telling me there are different ways I can make you happy.” He pulls away for a moment as his icy blue eyes focus on you, affection shining in his eyes.
“Teach me then,” he says. “Teach me the many different ways I can love you. After all, you’re stuck with me for a lifetime, are you not? I have an eternity to learn from you.”

Summary: Omega shows Echo the scrapbook she’s been working on.
Word count: 869
Warnings: Spoilers for episode 8 at the end.
- - - - -
“They should be back by now,” Echo said, pacing the sparse cockpit of the Marauder. “Where are they?”
“It is a simple supply run,” Tech replied from beneath the control panel, discarding the fried wires and connecting the new ones. “I am certain there is nothing to worry about.”
“This wouldn’t be the first supply run to have gone sideways.” Leaning against the console, Echo surveyed the clearing they’d landed in. Gnarled boughs slouched as though they’d fallen asleep on the spot. Between the trunks of the soaring trees, orange and lilac rays slithered along the wilted grass. “If they’re not back by nightfall and that fog picks up, they’ll never make it.”
Tech mumbled to himself as he worked, and the communications panel purred, booting up in a display of blinking buttons and a deep sigh. “That should work now. Try it again.”
A voice crackled through the speakers before either could attempt to contact their missing teammates.
“Is anybody there?” Hunter huffed. “Echo? Tech? Somebody respond.”
“We’re here,” Echo said. “Sorry. Comms were down. Where are you? You should have been back ages ago.”
“Wrecker and I won’t be long. Had a problem with some supplies, but we got everything we need. How’s Omega?”
Echo peeked around the open door to the lowered steps where the smallest member of their team sat, book in hand and Lula slumped beside her. “She’s all right. She’s reading.” The signal juddered and Hunter’s response drowned in the static. “Hunter? Can you still hear me?” Nothing. “I thought you’d fixed this.”
“The weather is scrambling the transmission,” Tech reported, tapping at his datapad and clicking his tongue. He scanned the forest and hummed. “As long as they are back within the hour, they should miss the brunt of it.”
“And as long as they don’t run into any trouble.”
“If that happens, I am sure we will see it.”
“Follow the explosions, right?” Echo joked. “I’ll go tell Omega to get ready to leave. Let me know if they contact us again.”
Remnants of the dense afternoon fog lapped at the foot of the slope, dwindling to a wispy mist as the next influx prepared to sweep the contorted roots and vegetation. From the city, the acrid scent of smoke invaded the forest.
“Hunter and Wrecker are on their way back,” Echo said to the girl scribbling in a notepad. He glanced over the box of craft materials, pencils and cuts of fabric sticking out of the top. “I thought you were reading. What is all this?”
“Tech told me that creative hobbies are good for keeping your mind preoccupied,” Omega explained, waving for him to join her. “He gave me a notebook to draw in, but it’s also a scrapbook.” She finished her sketch and handed it to him, encouraging him to look through.
A mixture of items clung to the paper, each telling the tales of their adventures. Some scribbled drawings accompanied the assortment of mementos. One showed Lula carrying a carton of Mantell mix, which Omega brightly told him was added in by Wrecker.
“Oh, those are the ones I did for all of you,” she said as he reached the middle of the book, flicking a few pages ahead. “These are yours.”
Echo smiled at the image of a reg manual and a blue handprint, and the drawings of the stories he had shared with her from his early military days. Tiny silver flowers bordered his last page, accompanied by a sprinkling of confetti from a festival he’d taken her to a few months ago and a discarded gold button they’d both found in the alleyway of Cid’s bar.
“I think I remembered the stories right,” Omega said.
“You remembered them perfectly.” He flipped through the rest, reminiscing on their scrapes with peril and their narrow flights from the clutches of some creature or other. Towards the end of the notebook, he found an empty sheet, the word ‘Crosshair’ scribbled in the corner. At his side, Omega fidgeted.
“I don’t know why I kept that one,” she mumbled. “He’s not going to join us, is he?”
Echo wound his arm around her shoulder and wished he had a hopeful response, but Crosshair was about as predictable as their adventures; he couldn’t be certain what the future would hold for any of them. “Who knows? There’s every chance he might.”
From between the trees, Hunter and Wrecker emerged through the spreading gloom, lugging their haul behind them in a trundling trailer. The wheels bumped over the roots and rattled the contents of the crates.
“Come on,” Echo said. “Let’s get these supplies on board and head back to Ord Mantell.”
-  -  -  -  -
Departing from Coruscant, the ship shuddered as it crossed the atmosphere and away from their brother. Omega tucked close to the wall of her room as the others spoke quietly between themselves. She dug under her pillow for the scrapbook and opened it onto the section dedicated to Echo, wiping stray tears from her cheek. He wasn’t gone, she reminded herself, slowly turning the page. He was on a mission, and when he got back, she’d have a wealth of adventures to tell him about.

When Heroes Turn Writers, NaruSasu/SasuNaru
Well, both of our boys write porn in these fics, what can I say...
What happens after making out by Bibirikun When Sasuke finds a box filled with journals into Itachi's old room, he's far from imagining what secrets his brother had hidden when he was alive. Itachi, in love with Shisui? Sasuke can barely believe it. But inspired by his readings, the Uchiha starts writing his own smutty stories about that friend he likes way too much. All was well, until one of the pages of his diary gets leaked and the whole village reads his naughty thoughts. - First things first, smut is fantastic, just all of it. The feelings of Itachi for Shisui and Sasuke for Naruto are captured perfectly, to the smallest detail. Sasuke is in the writer's role here; he is so in love with Naruto it hurts, and it's Slow Burn. Please go and leave some kudos. This work is worth more than 869! Make out Paradise | Icha Icha reference | Sasuke is porn writer | NaruSasu (mostly) | First time | Switching | Sasuke is in love (72,609)
Killing It by dawnstruck A year after Jiraiya's death, a new Icha Icha volume gets published. Self-declared Number One Fan, Hatake Kakashi, grows suspicious, but keeps buying them anyway. - The story is from Kakashi's POV. He tries to figure out who continues his favourite Icha Icha. One of the volumes is Yaoi; who could be the author?  Sns is the established relationship in this fic. This is just hilarious. Naruto is in the writer's role. This story is so well written(of course, this is dawnstruck's work). Make out Paradise | Icha Icha reference | Naruto is porn writer | sns an established relationship | Kakashi's POV (9,169)

aaaand bedtime.
updates:
Word count: 70 067. Page count: 121. Percent: 87.6%. Words since yesterday: 6147.
First draft total word count for the equivalent section: 7016. Number of words cut this session: 869. First draft total word count at the equivalent place: 104 448. First draft total page count at the equivalent place: 150. (Net) number of total words cut from the WIP: 34 381 (oooohhhhh).
Milestones: 70 000 words YEET
where am I? the next line I will pick up on is Sniff saying, "you're shitting me."
how'd it go? uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I pretty much rewrote every single scene in this part. wow. I am splitting the bandit king scene up into two and I am probably going to combine the second half (with Sniff) with the low point scene when I get to it tomorrow. But yeah, I completely rewrote the battle scenes (and expanded on them) and the church scene so that it actually happened in a church this time. The only scene that is pretty similar is the scene with [New Name].
I was not happy with the bandit king's characterization the first time and I am still not happy. He needs a badass character intro that I have not figured out yet. I'll put it off to draft 3 because I am pretty sure it is more a matter of describing things than anything else and I have been avoiding doing that in drafts 1 and 2.
Okay, 10 000 more words (hopefully). We're on the home stretch now!!

Podcast #869: The Survival Myths That Can Get You Killed
Surviving in the wild can seem like a romantic proposition, at least as it often plays out in popular culture and our imagination. We picture ourselves confidently navigating the obstacles of nature, pulling trout out of mountain streams, and building a snug shelter inside a tree. But the reality of wilderness survival isn’t so rosy. Few people know that better than Jim Baird. Jim and his brother won the fourth season of Alone, a reality show that’s actually real, and leaves contestants in the wild to face the elements and live off the land. Today on the podcast, Jim shares his experiences surviving on Northern Vancouver Island for 75 days, and what he learned from them as to what’s true about survival and what’s simply a myth.
