I discovered it and re-discovered it several times because I'm usually terrible at keeping up with comics, but I'm always amazed by the sheer determination and will of the author. Incredible to see how long and complex the story has gotten, and I am constantly impressed by the writing and dialogue! It's on point!

You know what I especially love about this scene?

Some people question why Garnet waited so long to tell Steven she was a Fusion. Even given the fact that Steven had a complicated reaction to finding out other things about her (Future Vision comes to mind), the fans have sometimes wondered why she would have kept this from him. Did she think he would judge her? Did she think he wouldn't understand? Did she think he'd want Ruby and Sapphire to spend time apart so he could get to know them and she didn't want that? Did she cherish being seen as "an individual" by at least one important person in her life? Did she just want it to be a special birthday surprise?

Enter "Alone Together." Steven has experienced fusion for the first time and Garnet embraces this opportunity to give Stevonnie affirming advice. Putting aside the fact that this would have been a weird place in the story to stick another giant reveal, what I love is that Garnet knows enough about fusion, enough about experiences, enough about Steven and by extension Stevonnie that she knows this moment is theirs.

What I love about this is that Garnet marked this moment with encouragement, buoyed Stevonnie up to see fusion as the act of living as an experience, encouraged them to just enjoy the heck out of the life they're suddenly miraculously living. For someone less in tune with how much this matters, it could have been an opportunity for Garnet to introduce herself, to use the situation as a platform to share something so important about her, to bond with Stevonnie over their commonalities.

But Garnet knew this was STEVONNIE's moment. She didn't hijack it to make it about herself or about fusion in general. She wanted Stevonnie, first and foremost, to have and be an experience.
