I will always defend that if CW knew anything about the comics they are adapting we would have a bad P.I Nygma show. It's the milion dollars project because they can have their Batman show without Batman, justify the low budged and use the fact Eddie is an ex villain to justify the edge and whole "dark protagonist" thing they have going.
It would suck because CW is not able to write neither good misteries nor good characther arcs/analysis but it fits the brand so well I almost want to sell the idea to them.

Thank you for always proposing a lot of riddler versions in your writings. The Gotham city sirens (or any detective/reformed Eddie in general) is so underused.
Aww of course! I love a good vast majority of Riddlers lmao with like a couple of exceptions! I'm glad I'm able to cater to others who also love them!
And right? P.I. Riddler is one of my faves, especially him in Sirens cause I mean c'mon...

How..how can you not??? 🥰😍😗 he deserves more love and I'm bound and determined to serve!

Gotham Blues (Nygmobblepot)
To say that Edward didn't remember the last time he had left Gotham would have been a lie; he didn't think there was anything in the whole universe that could make him forget watching the city disappear from sight, further and further away, swallowed by thick clouds as his plane climbed up in the sky, taking him all the way across the Atlantic where he alone would be privy to his ghosts and memories.
Edward hadn't wanted to leave.
No matter that Oswald thought he knew better about his life choices - that he knew better about what Edward needed and wanted. Most of the times, Edward had been more than glad to let the other man to the emotional labor for the both of them, also because most of the times Oswald had been simply right: he'd always had a gift for reading the people around him - friend or foe, it didn't seem to matter. It had also made it infinitely harder to make Oswald accept when things didn't go the way he thought they would.
When that happened, Oswald wasn't great to be around.
Edward shrugged the memories away, forcing the feeling to roll off of his shoulders together with the tension that had been steadily gathering in his muscles.
Maybe he shouldn't have come back.
Having a city airport meant that there simply was no way to brace himself for impact: Edward walked out with his trolley lagging behind him and he stepped back into Gotham's evening.
"Years in Europe and you still have no fashion sense whatsoever"
The last time he'd seen Oswald, the man had been behind bars - in hindsight, Edward could admit that it hadn't been the best moment to leave. Still, he didn't think he would have done anything differently, not even to avoid having the memories of the other man alternatively screaming abuse and love at him; hands reaching from between the bars to grab at any part of him, fingers strong and desperate enough to tear away the cufflink from his sleeve.
There was nothing left of that man.
"I'll have you know, my outfits were all the rage in Paris"
"People were probably too polite to tell you the truth"
"The French aren't exactly known for that" Edward took over holding the umbrella as he stepped under it "I've missed you too"
(continues on ao3)

The comics, where it all began. Riddler has been around 75 years now and Penguin for even longer. Throughout the years they've been on and off adversaries or close collaborators. We appreciated Paul Dini's P.I. arc, Ram V's Catwoman run and Frank Tieri's work on Gotham Underground, to name a few. Where might your own ideas with these characters take you for riddlebird week?

End of year wip round-up
Time to look through my files of notes and see what plots I have still waiting attention, and perhaps assess where they are in the scale of projects. Colour coded for riddlebird, hattercrow, wahsbands or octogoblin. I'm always open to questions on my projects. In fact, please do ask if you want to encourage them to be written.
Starting with some I have posted as unfinished works.
OTT (LEGO Batman) : I intend to post a second chapter for this, showing how well Riddler's plan turns out.
Gay Attorney (Gotham/Ace Attorney) : This is supposed to have multiple chapters with the various 'witnesses' taking the stand.
Little Bird (Batwoman) : Not sure where this is heading but a follow up chapter seems necessary.
P.I. Riddler (DC comics) : I have an outline of the idea for this but not sure how many chapters it will require to complete.
Urban Legends (Batman - all media) : There is going to be a continuation here with other rogues making an appearance.
What Is Reality? (Btas) : I already have a second chapter started and a concept of where its going, including a 'final' scene.
A few extra Mahou AU story ideas.
Killer Croc vs Jonathan (Arkhamverse) : This is an interesting conflict I'd like to write.
Grown up Ed gets powers (Burtonschumacher) : We only saw one half of this duo in my first story so it seems fair to bring in Riddler.
Take A Chance on Me (Arkhamverse) : Pitting the pair against the machinations of Hugo Strange.
Oz mentors Ed (The Batman) : Does what it says on the tin.
The Curse of Alice (1960s) : Again an interesting development I'd like to explore.
Future Hattercrow (Gotham) : Not sure about this but considering this pair twenty years further on.
The Telltale series.
You Only Live Twice : Oswald is being mentored but demands Edward treat him as an equal if he truly respects him.
For Your Eyes Only : Edward gets trapped by the Agency and suffers their virus before returning to Oswald.
The Spy Who Loved Me : Oswald helps Edward through the aftereffects, unwilling to lose anyone else to madness.
Live and Let Die : Riddler is planning his return to Gotham, letting Oswald into the secrets of his past to convince him.
The Living Daylights : A continuation of the story arc.
New stand alone ideas.
Babysitter : Wario is cajoled into babysitting Bowser's kids and calls Waluigi in for reinforcements.
Sherrif Wario : Waluigi rides into town and immediately gets called a trouble maker by the Mario bros. Wario makes his own assessment.
Good Omens : A friend suggested Alfred Molina as Aziraphale and Willem Dafoe as Crowley which is a fantastic idea.
Fate Or Something Like It : I really wanted to consider the timeline after Norman got back from No Way Home. How he might try to save Otto from his fate.
Old Friends, Bitter Enemies : I watched the Spider-man PS game and love the dynamic of Norman and Otto. It would be worth playing with.
Skyscraper : Basically a PWP. Be fun to write.
Misunderstandings : Oswald overhears Ed saying something he shouldn't.
Batman vs Dracula (2004 cartoon) : A re-write of the film except bringing Riddler into the story.
Halloween Topsy Turvy : A fancy dress party at the Lounge causes feelings to run high.
Streamer Ed (btas) : Ed works as a streamer, with Jon and Jervis as mods, and a habit of review Iceberg Lounge promotional videos.
Gotham Gossip (Gotham) : Newspaper column style fic charting their rising and falling relationship. I still like this concept but am struggling with the media.
Kids museum meeting (comics) : A look back at how they might have met as children.
Secret Admirer : Where both Oswald and Ed are the other's secret admirer.
Tattoos (comics) : Oswald has tattoos - Ed is intrigued.
Olga My Queen (1960s/Gotham) : What if the Queen of Cossacks was Oswald's maid?
Gotta Shape Up (Harley Quinn series) : ngl I lost impetus with this show but I still like this idea - Ed having to step up with Joshua after Oswald's demise.
The King Is Dead : Similar concept in that it looks at how Riddler might react in the wake of Penguin's demise.
Wrap You Around My Finger : Ed is new to Gotham and thinks it'll be easy to cajole favours from Penguin. He is wrong.
Western AU : I wanted a fic with Jonathan on a horse thus this idea was born.
Are We Friends? (Gotham) : Ed struggles to pin down just what their relationship is during Oswald's eye recovery period. Again, not super confident writing in this media now.
Rogues Go Skiing (LEGO) : Cutesy vacation style slice of life.
Arkham sitcom : Exactly as it says, chapters done with mini plots happening, all within Arkham asylum.
Bookshop (1960s) : Penguin owns a book store and has suitors competing for him - Riddler vs Bookworm
Pre-Arkham : What if Jon and Jervis met before either became rogues?
Trans Oswald (The Batman) : Not actually a romantic fic but more angsty, considering what if he'd had a child in his younger years.
Merman Oz (2004 cartoon) : I just like the visual of him as a mermaid.
What You Love Most (Arkhamverse) : Another angsty piece where Ed doesn't realise Oswald's feelings.
Drive-in Movie (Batwheels) : Simultaneous riddlebird and Ducky/Quizz.
Music Meister (Arkhamverse) : Don't tell me the concept of Oz being forced to sing isn't hilarious.
Rumour Mill : Jonathan steps in when rumours spread about Jervis.
Trans Ed (Arkhamverse) : I wanted to write Oz facing his own transphobia but I'm not sure I can do the topic with the required sensitivity.
Hypnotism : As a hattercrow fan, its almost a rite of passage to write Jervis using his powers on Jon.
Merry Little Batman : I'm always drawn to new media variations.
More continuations.
The World Is Your Oyster sequel : What would life be like living with an octo-person?
Post Game (Arkhamverse) : A possibly final installment to my arkham Games series.
Nobody Said It Was Going To Be Easy sequel (btas) : Not sure this is something I still want to do honestly.
The Boss (The Batman) : Picking up their story post film.
Angel!Ed/Demon!Oz (2004 cartoon) : Bringing the contrasting pair actually together.
Pax Penguina sequel (Gotham) : I have no impetus to continue this one at present.
The Real Deal sequel (btas) : Considering whether Ed might get his own larger than life Penguin doll.
The King Of Gotham sequel (comics) : Picking up where the story ends off. Not finished posting the original yet.

Thinking about P.I. Riddler...

I really hope that Riddler shows up in Gotham Knights but not as a side villain who plants collectables all over the city but as a P.I. who is just done with his life and gives sidequests to the Batfam.

My take on some batman characters
Tumblr media
Villain. Also her relationship with Harley has defanged her
Tumblr media
Hero
Tumblr media
Please stop making him evil. Also bring back Post-Crisis Francine
Tumblr media
Basil is interesting because I like both the OG version and the Rebirth version. Either way let him be hammy.
Tumblr media
I’m of two minds here. Harvey has lots of great endings whether they be tragic or happy. I like his characterization in Task Force Z
Tumblr media
Currently I think my favorite Mr. Freeze endings are in Harley Quinn and the DCAU. If he cured his wife or his wife was unable to be saved, he should be a civillian character
Tumblr media
I do not care for New 52 Riddler. (this includes Tom King’s Riddler) They should bring back him as a P.I.
Tumblr media
Should be an anti-hero and definitely not a villain

While I want people to ask me how I would write a P.I Riddler mystery show there is better answers (and two amazing long fanfics with whole as seasons) out there. On the other hand I would love to people to ask me how would I do a CW version of a P.I Riddler mystery show.
I have a superpower to write bad cw adaptations. I can turn anything into one. I swear.

Hello! Congratulations on 500 followers!! It is I; the sleep deprived anon. Got a slightly better schedule now. Doc literally prescribed me less work and more sleep, but that was mostly because I hit my head under a desk and got a minor concussion.
Anyway, I hope you’re taking more time for yourself! Your writing is fantastic as always, and I’m really happy for you 😊
If I may, can I request something for your event with Gotham City Sirens Riddler? I have so many thoughts about this man and not enough brainpower to express it. If I had to pick one from your list, I’d go for a first date night drabble with a large side of fluff and a medium soda.
Night night! Congrats again!
A/N: Hey there sleep deprived anon! Ouch, I’m sorry to hear about your minor concussion! I hope you’re doing much better with your improved schedule! I’ll definitely be taking more time for myself soon! Thanks so much, I’m glad you think my writing is fantastic! That means a lot! Ohhh yes, Gotham City Sirens Riddler my beloved, P.I. Riddler, I can absolutely do that for you!

Gotham City Sirens Riddler - First Date Night
When Edward offered to buy dinner one night, you couldn't say no.
Yet, you couldn't help but ponder over if…it's a date or not?
It definitely gave off..date vibes? You dressed formally, as was Edward sitting in front of you. He even wore a different suit that was a richer forest green than the bright one he wore at work.
The restaurant you were at was…no hole in the wall either. There were chandeliers spaced throughout the ceiling. Fine linen decorated the tables accented with a candelabra in the middle of each.
Your instincts were telling you that this was a date, but you didn't want to read too much into it either.
Edward cleared his throat and that somehow broke you out of your reverie.
"A penny for your thoughts?"
You ought to just ask. Be upfront…
"I'm just curious as to why…you wanted to get dinner? Not-not that I don't mind! I'm just…"
"You want to know if this is a date?"
You gulped. Were you really that obvious? Perhaps, he was wondering the same thing.
You simply nodded, worried you would incriminate yourself somehow more if you spoke.
“I wanted to do something…to show my gratitude. I know I’m not the easiest man to work for, nor always the most pleasant but…I do appreciate your effort and…while I could do things myself. You have helped make running a small investigation firm much easier.”
All of a sudden you wanted to throw up the piece of the dish you tried to eat. How stupid you were to even consider-
“But I would be lying if I said I didn’t hope for something to prosper from this…”
Wait, what?
“W-Wait you mean?”
Edward smiled softly. “I mean it when I say I don’t know where I would be or what I would do without you. I know I don’t show it…I know I don’t say it enough. But…this reform of mine. I knew it was going to be difficult, it would be hard for anyone to believe it.”
He continued. “Then you answered my riddle in my job ad for the office assistant position. And you fearlessly…didn’t care. Whatever I handed to you, you…dealt with…with complaints I’m sure.”
You guffawed. “Yeah, no, I…I’d be lying if I said I didn’t curse your name, your birth, your mom maybe..”
“Mm-hm.”
“Sorry.”
Edward chuckled. “Don’t be. I, again, don’t blame you. But, you could have left at any point. You could have gotten up and quit. And, I wouldn’t blame you.”
Ed reached his hand out and gently placed it over yours.
“You…you’ve stayed. In this crazy city, full of gods, goddesses, villains, and heroes…you stuck by me, an ex-rogue turned detective.”
You placed your other hand over Edward’s and held it, running your thumb over his knuckles. “There’s no one else I’d rather be stuck to. Although, I’d argue you’re stuck with me than vice versa.”
Edward laughed. “That may be the case on some days. Much like you said, I couldn’t imagine a better person to be with. If you choose to take this…relationship further?”
You smiled, eyes widened in excitement. Your fingers slowly interlocked with his.
“This is starting to be an amazing first date, Eddie.” You winked.

coming up with puzzler has been a fun journey. because initially, when i started this blog, i had no real concepts for a reformed eddie then just "he's a single dad, and i'm going with the P.I. thing. that's it." however, my disappointment with how eddie's character is being handled, especially as of recent, got me thinking what i would do if i could write comics for eddie. and with this initial concept, i had to give eddie a main antagonist. i didn't want it to be another big rogue. i want it to be a lesser known character, or a new character. because, the harley show for example, there are many ppl who are disappointed in how the bigger popular rogues are either thrown away, or how they're depicted. i didn't want that if i were to do a comic. therefore, i use characters that aren't as well known, or as established. so, thinking of a main antagonist, i decided to go with puzzler. there have been a few puzzlers throughout comic history, especially against superman. but i went with the '66 series. as puzzler may be one of the least popular '66 villains, and less memorable one. especially because he was literally created to be a stand in for eddie as frank left the show, so they couldn't use the character. but i thought, i WILL take puzzler and reinvent him to be something maybe people could like. but i had a problem.
that was... i didn't really know what i wanted to do with puzzler. in the beginning, he was simply an older man who got bored of his life and seeing there was no longer a riddler, he would take eddie's place as a puzzling villain. and whilst i had other things - such as puzzler had parents who actually encouraged his intelligence, opposite to eddie, and i may have had his perpetual boredom thought of back then? as well as him being gay. but... i was very unhappy with puzzler. i felt he wasn't compelling enough, his motives weren't as interesting nor his story. in fact, i even planned on killing puzzler when introducing a bigger threat because i was just not happy with my ideas, and thought the other villain ideas i had for other characters were better.
BUT THEN. i had came up with a concept of eddie having an uncle. as a reference to a 60s comic where a wealthy uncle was mentioned, and it was a way to expand the family. after i thought of this "uncle edward" it just came to me - i can combine edward with puzzler. THEN BAM. puzzler's character and what he's supposed to be all just came rushing to me. like i knew exactly what i wanted to do with him, what kind of person he is, and his motivations. somehow, just making him a relative to eddie just put all the pieces together. and now it's a character i'm quite satisfied with, and i hope other ppl would be too if i were to ever do a comic. (and no, i don't kill him off anymore just to introduce another villain - he's too important for that)
yet i had a problem. eddie's story is indeed one of tragedy and trauma. but... i felt it would be tiresome if i gave him another relative who neglected or disliked him. no, i wanted uncle edward to actually care about eddie. however, this puts a major plot hole in the story. if uncle edward is so wealthy, why wouldn't he support eddie more? this was something i had trouble coming up with an explanation that didn't feel contrived. because i definitely want eddie to grow up poor - that's a very big part of his character, and who he is. i was actually a poor kid who had a grandmother who once had a million dollars. (which she spent all eventually bc she was a shopaholic) but she had very little to do with my life. so that made sense why that happened to me. but that couldn't apply to eddie - when edward genuinely loved eddie, and even wanted eddie as his own son. sooo... i HAD to find a way to make this work. initially, i thought "well, edward has fucked up views that he believes to be good, maybe he wanted eddie to work hard for his own money?" and i went with that for the longest time. but that also felt way too contrived. then i came up with an idea that puzzler's wealth is obviously dirty money. both people in the underground, as well as in the GCPD, begin to suspect that the socialite edward boucher is puzzler. there's even a part in the lore where a baby eddie gets harmed because one of edward's rivals figured out he's puzzler. so, the idea is that edward fakes his death, and does not leave any money behind for eddie, because he doesn't want eddie to be at all involved with his life as the puzzler. he doesn't want more people to target and harm eddie. he does this because he thinks he's protecting eddie, and the innocence of a child. and i feel that's a much better, and a more understandable reason. it feels more satisfying to me.
there's still drama and hurt involved in this family dynamic. as puzzler genuinely cares about eddie, one of the very few people puzzler is capable of caring for. and eddie held his uncle in this high regard, as his uncle was the nicest person to him, but only in his life for 5 years. but once eddie finds out just who his uncle is - turns out his uncle is practically everything he's against, and swore to fight. eddie now feels hurt and betrayed. but puzzler, still very much cares about eddie. it's a complicated dynamic that way while not being the same "eddie has a neglectful/hateful relative" deal.

Who else thinks that Barbara in Unburied spent her teen years as Batgirl? That she was Batgirl until she was 19 and Jim was stabbed, and she quit vigilantism to take on the mantle of "the last good cop".
I'm betting that Barbara becomes Oracle after she's fired from the force. That she starts her P.I. business and Oracle is her backroom identity.
Does anyone else think that Bruce had adopted Dick Grayson in the Unburiedverse? That he has grown up and moved out and was being Nightwing on the other side of the country (or in an outer space mission with Starfire) during these events? Bruce's moral compass and capacity for compassion always grows stronger after he has adopted and mentors his children, and this Bruce/Batman has those qualities in spades.
This is all literally so canon 2 me…. Maybe for Dick it’s a scenario like B:TAS where he’s away at college 🥺 I can imagine when Bruce doesn’t answer his calls for awhile from the guilt about missing his parents deathiversary, Dick thinks he’s on a mission until Alfred calls and tells him about the crash.
And that makes a lot of sense for Barbara! I’m really hoping we get to see her as Oracle in the next season. And it would be really cool if her and Ed worked together as a collective guy in the chair haha. I love this Riddler so much and I feel like he’s definitely reformed enough in this universe to work with Batman more, at least based on how he did in the first season.
