*** SPOILERS AHEAD ***
I’m not sure if I read this somewhere, or if I invented it, or if it was ever mentioned in the series. But now I can’t get this idea out of my head: the power of the gods is proportional to the number of followers they have. The main source of their power comes from the adoration of their figures / names / symbols, so the more worship they get, the more powerful they become.
We see this well reflected in Ammit, who, despite having been imprisoned in an ushabti for over than 2000 years, has a considerable number of followers globally. Not only she is more powerful than Khonshu, but also (Disney as always, is in all the details) her outfit looks fresh and new:

The same applies to Taweret:

There is a quote that stuck with me from the moment Ammit sees Khonshu for the first time after her awakening that goes like this: "Khonshu. Time has not been kind to you.”
This caught my attention, because of the three gods that we see in the series, only Khonshu looks like a skull. It occurred to me that while Ammit was imprisoned and Taweret was always in the realm of the gods, doing her work of taking the souls of the dead to the Field of Reeds, Khonshu was on Earth imparting his justice, through the avatars that he chose throughout the centuries.
Perhaps the passage of time is reflected in the physical aspect of the gods when they are on the mortal plane, or perhaps the designers just decided to leave him as a skeleton because he looks more badass. But what doesn't stop calling my attention is his aged attire and lack of gold.
And then I thought: Khonshu was banished from the Ennead. He doesn't have many followers (perhaps he lost them in time?) and his name is not very known neither.
But there is more: towards the end of the series, when Marc is about to die in the Temple in front of Khonshu’s statue, we see that this statue exhibits a different outfit. He even wears a nemes on his head. So I doodled this today. Khonshu with followers (noble aspect and powerful) and without followers (aged clothes, without being capable of showing the full extent of his powers).
Please mind my poor ability to draw outfits. I used what we see on the statue and the same funko pop as a reference 🤣

Now I need to see his true form in season 2. My poor, sweet birdman 😭😭😭

i think adam dying is narratively satisfying to me, he was doomed from the start - we very literally open the movie with his only means of escape (short from cutting off his own foot) getting sucked down the drain. but also there is the little version in my head where he does get out and he does get to live and he calls his mom, he deserves that ending :(
