i am very late but thank you so much for detailing the bits of info jt petty shared on the charity stream back in 2022, when i tell you my life was permanently changed by knowing what kind of dogs the characters would own i'm not exaggerating i see the would through different eyes now

Ohh McBeardy phase is so interesting to me.

I've always wondered why Paul not only never returned to that look, but also did a complete turn after in 70s and adopted the more feminine look, ofc looking absolutely beautiful with Linda. He was also never quite in the same shape again as around 1969.

Do you think it might be because he felt it wasn't him? Or that that time brings painful memories to him? But at the same time, he shared so many warm photos with Linda, Heather and newborn Mary so it can't be all bleak.

It is just very interesting to try and get a glimpse into his psychology, even if we will never know.

Here is what I think. I think it was a couple of things.

I think Paul initially grew the beard as an experiment, perhaps also out of laziness, yes, but initially out of curiosity and a desire to change and become someone new, without knowing what it would be. Maybe I'm a man who's in the middle of something he doesn't really understand. He started growing it when he was with Linda in the winter of 68/69, and she was newly pregnant, and he was a new man. If you're a new man, you want to impress, but it's handy if you can hide as well. The beard gave him a manly mane and cover-up, luster, something to shake and play with, and a mask...his eyebrows were no longer the main attraction.

Then came the sad face phase of '69, and the return of the beard after Mary's birth, unkempt and windswept at first, majestic and huge, when he recorded Ram with Linda—then, it was certainly camouflage, too. Walking the streets of NYC unrecognized. Looking hot in bizarre antler knitwear. The bigger the beard, the tighter the hips' curve.

Why did he shed the beard for good? Going back to a more feminine look, as you say?

I don't know, of course. But here's what I speculate.

Paul was on top again. Wings was a success. Marriage holding, children thriving. Linda and Denny to keep him grounded.

Reunion with John in the cards. New Orleans, baby.

Time to re-claim his face™, wet that pinky to shape those McCartney eyebrows, lose the pornstache-era flab, and display his body in tight and sparkling fabrics.

If not for John, then for for the world.

Get ready for the new and improved polygon.

I wouldn't go as far as saying McBeardy wasn't Paul, but I think he outlasted his purpose. In his thirties, Paul wanted clean lines, glamour, smoothness, androgyny. He had nothing to prove anymore.

Maybe Paul was, and is, always a man in the middle of something new.

Let us appreciate McBeardy in all his shaggy, lustrous, mysterious, glory.

the above photo is one of Dennis Skinner, ex-Labour MP for Bolsover, (in)famous for his temper, combined with the gall and aggression with which he debated and threw around derisive jokes in the house of commons - stuff like calling PM David Cameron "dodgy dave" in the middle of a room full of other conservatives and promptly walking out when forced to either leave the chamber or apologize, that's one of his most well-known moments but it's quite the classic, indeed. i believe this photo is from either, errr...well i'd, personally, put it at... late 70s-early 80s? or perhaps early 70s - keep in mind he was an MP from 1970 to 2019. to that end, i believe he held tacit respect from both aisles of government - either as someone who was actively fighting for the working class, in the case of labour, or as a very novel spectacle of a firebrand politician, in the case of more casual toryites. or, if nothing else, for hanging onto his position for so long. ....anti-EU, as expected, but, to be fair, that's a given for most of the british. i think it's stupid(to be anti-eu, at least from a practical viewpoint) but the historical precedent behind it is too complex to really get into. or, it's too complex for me to want to get into. i think my fascination with him sort of stems from the fact that he was, uh, like... a fossil of his time really, both in the sense of his oratory skills & audacity, and in him outlasting most of his peers. all that remains is the oppressive sludge of labour neoliberals and conservative opportunist aristocrat types. there's no one left who would unabashedly tell the queen to pay her taxes anymore... also, i think he looks hot in this photo - in the coat - and that's the observation that led to me writing this all out. apologies.

Ok Outlast fandom, esp Trager, Eddie and Variant fans... I require your input.

I'm writing a Camerashipping wing au (have been for a while) and I'm jumping back into working on it. Without spoiling too much, the basic plot is that instead of Project Walrider Murkoff is working on a gene splicing project to make human/animal crosses for both utility and cosmetics.

I'm heavily debating having Trager still get punished by Murkoff despite spearheading the program himself. Or maybe something goes wrong and he splices himself.

Anyways, I have a lot of characters to do splices with and while I have ideas for everyone, only Miles, Way and David are set in stone. With Chris being a very, very, high possibility of a utility type boar or bear.

But I need suggestions! Esp for minor characters like Pyro, Silky, Frank, Dennis, etc. If you got a fave Variant go ahead and suggest. Also open to suggestions for Eddie and Trager. I was thinking utility big cats for both but I'm unsure.

Definition explanations:

Utility types have a function, think utilizing dog noses, bear strength and claws, functional bird wings. Things Murkoff could sell to the military or other corporations as tools. Anything that could serve a function to enhance humans for work.

Cosmetic types are for selling to average people. Think pretty peacock tails, cat ears and tails, dog ears, etc. These are less focused on use and more as permanent accessories.

No characters are going to be full anthro furry types. Maybe like... really early in the lines, but by this point in the story everyone stays roughly human shaped, the most that'll happen will be digitigrade legs or hands with claws and slight pads.
