Been reading the old testament and people say "the old testament God is different from New Testament" but there are a couple of stories that highlight that God is good.

My favorite story atm is Jonah and the Whale. We all know about the bit where Jonah is swallowed by a whale (though idk if it was a whale or a fish. Either way.) but we gloss over why and what happened afterwards.

Jonah was swallowed by a whale because rather than preaching in Nineveh, he decided to run away because he thought the city was lawless. He got thrown overboard by the crew when they found out God was mad at him and then God sent the whale so he wouldn't be lost at sea. Then Jonah goes to Nineveh and after 40 days, they changed their ways.

But my favorite part is Jonah 4 where Jonah sits under a tree and a gourd gives him shade from the sun. But one day the gourd withers and dies. Jonah becomes really upset because he no longer had shade. To paraphrase, God said that Jonah hasn't even worked to grow the gourd. "And should I not spare Nineveh where 60,000 people cannot discern their right hand from their left?" I don't know, it was just a really nice moment. It highlights that God is patient and forgiving and despite that being his main trait, even many christians forget that.

I know a lot of people have religious trauma because a lot of christians also forget that we are meant to have these traits. We are meant to be forgiving and patient. We are not meant to spread hate. We are not meant to be judgemental. We are meant to show people that there is a different life than the one they live currently. We are meant to admit our own flaws, not talk about other's flaws. We also have to read the bible more because, in it, we find God's true character.

I don't have all of the answers. I'm just trying my best to figure this out as anyone else.

Wednesday's pattern Picks will be up later today, our internet has had problems with all the blackouts we've had & have an unstable internet connection at present due to a broken modem we've been told. I've managed to get my research. & blog written and get my links written it's taken me over 9 hours to get this far. But I've got all the base work done. Tried for 8 hours to get it up onto my website but gave up at 4am this morning! Exhausted from trying & frustrated a little. Hate technology faults! We phoned Telestra yesterday & they have told us it was our modem & have sent us a new one. It was delivered this morning buy courier thankfully so will get it installed today sometime in between the severe weather we've had since 2am this morning. We are currently getting massive thunderstorms through here with hail, so will need to be careful connecting everything back up through it all but I'm sure I'll get there with it! Just have to hope we dont get rolling blackouts again through this horrible weather. We've had a bad weekend last weekend with black outs & power going on off on off. Not good with all the new modern equipment. If I can the internet to stay connected for at least two hours I'll be able to get it up for you all! & emails sent out. Not for lack of trying once it is stable enough can convert my files to pdf & html. Our TV is on off on off going ding dong everytime it all blacks out! With the severe storms going through since 2am & then the internet drop outs! Lads, there’s a cool as hell painting in this cafe that I absolutely want to take home!

   It’s six different animal skulls on a purple and blue background with some fruit and gourds between them. In the center, a long faced skull sits either in a oval bowl or plate with a honey crisp apple in it’s mouth. All the other skulls are faced to the center skull. Some have their jaws apart as if they’re laughing at the middle ones antics and one looking on in stern disapproval. The shading on everything is surprisingly lively making it a joyful occasion! A found family enjoying a holiday dinner. It’s unfortunately out of my price range atm, but whoever gets it is certainly lucky!
