"I hate my kids."
"What?" I laugh.
"I hate them, Val. They all are so… so… annoying."
"You've only been with them for three hours, Emma."
"Enough to know that I hate them" she sighs. "What about yours?"
"They seem lovely so far. We've been playing some games to get to know each other and they all were really into it."
"Lucky bitch."
"Hello, girls" says Beth, the headmistress of our school,  as we walk into the staffroom. "How's the day been so far?"
"Good, good" I say, stopping Emma before she says something she shouldn't.
"That's wonderful" Beth smiles. "Oh, Valeria, this came for you earlier" she says, giving me a big bouquet of flowers.
"These are for me?"
"Yep. And there is a note too."
"Why hadn't you told me you have a secret admirer?" Emma says.
"Because I don't" I reply, opening the note.
Hope you've had a good first day and that you don't need these flowers to cheer you up, just to remind you of how cute I am. -P
"P? Who is P?"
"Just a friend" I quickly say, hiding the note.
"He must be a special one. Look at that smile and the colour of your cheeks" Beth chuckles.
"We just met, it's nothing serious."
"But if he is already sending you flowers, that's because he likes you. Luis, why have you never sent me flowers?"
"What?" Beth's husband says, looking up from the newspaper he was reading. One where Pedri is on the cover, a big smile on his face while joking with Gavi during training.
"You've never gotten me flowers on my first day of work."
"What is the point? We've been working together since we got married" he shrugs, hiding once again behind his newspaper.
"See what I have to deal with?" she sighs. "Your boy is a keeper."
"I agree" Emma says. "And if he has a brother or something…"
"I'll let you know" I chuckle, my eyes fixed on the newspaper, on that smile I've gotten to see almost daily for the past couple of weeks.

Thank you for the flowers. They are beautiful.
You're welcome 😊
But wait, why are you texting me? Shouldn't you be in class?
I am, but they are busy painting, they aren't paying attention.
Naughty, naughty 😜
Are they good kids?
They are. I am really lucky this year.
But I am your favourite kid, am I not? 😇
I thought I had upgraded you to young man 🤔
Is that still standing?
It is. Thanks to the flowers you've earned yourself to keep that status 😜
Thanks to being cute, you mean
Yeah, that too
Do you give your kids a sticker or something if they behave or get good grades?
I do, yes. Had to buy some Barça ones and 🤢
🙄
But I think I also deserve something
You get to keep your status Also have I told you yet how stupid you look on your profile pic? 😂
Always so nice, Val 🙄
I look cute, which is what I am, and the reason why I think I deserve a kiss
Are you free this afternoon to give me the one from today?
Not really. Still have to prepare some things for next week.
What if I stop by your house?
That needy are you for a kiss? 😂
You can't even imagine 😩
Then ask one of the many teenagers who slide into your dms 🤷‍♀️
But I don't want their kisses.
I want YOURS
I'm busy
C'mon, Val. You know like them too 😏
I can't today, I'm busy
It'll be just a kiss
No
A teeny tiny one 🥺
We don't do that type of kisses and you know it 😂
We don't, no 😏
But c'mon 🥺
No
And if I buy you one of the cookies we ate the other day on our way back from the beach?
🤔…
Is that a yes? 👀
It's a maybe. Let me think about it
Yes! 💃🏻
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"Hello."
"Hi."
"Aren't you going to ask me to come in?"
"You came here for a kiss, didn't you?" I say. "You don't need to come inside for that."
"What if your neighbours see us?" Pedri asks.
"They aren't home right now."
"Are you sure?"
"I am. Did you bring me the cookie?"
"I did" he says, showing me the small paper box. "But my kiss goes first."
"Fine" I say, giving him a peck.
"That isn't a kiss."
"It is."
"Not for us. I deserve one of our kisses, I got you flowers and a cookie, remember?"
"Ok, fine" I say again, wrapping my arms around his neck. "You are so needy, Pedri."
"As if you didn't enjoy it" he smirks. "Kiss?"
"Shut up" I say, kissing him like he wanted me to while he hugs me against him, leaving no space between our bodies.
"Someone is coming" I whisper against his lips when I hear the lift.
"What?"
"Inside, now" I say, pushing him in.
"Careful, Val! What if I get injured?"
"Not sorry. Last time you were out Barça played like shit, so" I shrug. "Can I get my cookie now?"
"You have a really nice place" he says, completely ignoring me.
"Thank you. My cookie?"
"Which one is your room?"
"Pedri…"
"This one?"
"Can I please get my cookie?" I insist.
"Nah, this isn't yours. This one, on the other hand…" he says as he walks in.
"Hey!" I say, following him.
"Nice bed. Very comfortable."
"Get up from there."
"Why? Haven't you thought about me laying here?" he smirks.
"I haven't. Now get up."
"Liar."
"Pedri, get up from my bed."
"No."
"You asked for it" I say, grabbing him by the ankle and trying to move him, but he is way heavier than he looks.
"You are gonna end up hurting yourself" he chuckles.
"Then move!"
"No" he says, quickly sitting up and grabbing me by the waist, making me lay down with him.
"What are you doing?" I protest.
"Cuddling" he says with an innocent smile.
"I don't want to cuddle. I want my cookie and for you to leave. I have work to do."
"All that can wait" he says, moving us so we are spooning.
"Pedri…"
"That's my name, yes" he says while kissing my neck, the feeling making me shudder.
"You have to leave."
"No" he whispers, kissing my neck again as his hand moves under my t-shirt.
"I'm serious."
"So am I."
"Pe…" But I can't keep talking, the feeling of his thumb over my nipple and his lips on my neck making me moan.
"Were saying?" he chuckles against my skin.
"I… want…"
"Yes?" he says, kissing me and moving his thumb once again.
"I want you to leave."
"No, you don't."
"I… I do. Leave."
"That's not what you want and you know it" he whispers in my ear while still moving his thumb, my hips unconsciously moving against him. "Tell me what you really want."
"I… I want…"
"Yes?" he whispers.
"I… I want you" I say, finally giving up.
"Didn't you want the cookie?" he teases me.
"No" I say, turning to face him. "I want you, Pedri. Now. Here. Naked and all over me, on me, inside me. I want you. All of you."
"Thought you would never ask, Valeria" he smiles before kissing me.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"Val?" Silvia says, knocking on the door. "Val, are you awake?"
"Kind of" I grunt.
"You left your phone in the living room and your alarm has been going off for a while. If you don't get up you are going to be late for work."
"Just five more minutes."
"Ok… I'll be back in five minutes" she sighs. "Don't fall asleep again."
"I won't" I yawn.
"You are definitely falling asleep again" someone chuckles next to me before kissing my neck.
"Fuck!" I scream, sitting up on the bed.
"Or maybe not" Pedri laughs.
"What… What are you doing here?"
"That wasn't the first thing I expected to hear when I woke up today" he laughs again.
"What?"
"I expected to wake up to something like good morning, handsome while we cuddled for a bit."
"Not happening" I say, leaving the bed.
"Next time then."
"There won't be a next time, Pedri" I say while looking for my underwear among all the clothes scattered on the floor.
"Ha!"
"Why are you laughing?"
"Because I don't believe a word you just said. And neither do you, to be honest."
"It won't happen again" I insist.
"Sure, Val. Sure. And they are here, by the way."
"What?"
"Your knickers" he says, nodding to his left. "I know because I threw them there. They are really cute, I like them."
"Shut up" I say, quickly picking them up and putting them on. "What time is it?" I ask while looking for something else to throw on.
"8:05."
"Fuck."
"What time do the classes start?"
"9:30."
"Then you still have time for some cuddles" he says.
"No, I don't. Because yesterday I should have washed my hair, and now I have to do that today. And shower. I'm all sticky."
"We had a good workout yesterday, didn't we? Or a few workouts" he smirks, putting an arm behind his head, his biceps popping. Focus, Valeria. Focus.
"Whatever" I say, managing to look away.
"Why don't you come back here?"
"I've told you I can't! I have to shower, and get ready, and then it's Friday today, which means that there will be more traffic and the tube will be packed, and I'll probably be late. And it's all your fault."
"Mine? Why?"
"Do you seriously have to ask?" I say, rolling my eyes.
"It's not my fault I'm irresistible."
"Irre… whatever. I'm going to shower" I say after finally finding something to wear.
"Do you want compa… Ok, ok" he laughs after I give him my most murderous look. "But that t-shirt you are wearing is mine."
"Not anymore" I smile before leaving my room.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"Why are you still here?" I say, walking into the kitchen after finishing getting ready.
"Val, manners!" Silvia scolds me.
"Why are you still here, Pedri?" I repeat, completely ignoring her.
"One, because I don't have a t-shirt and I can't go outside half naked, and two, because your lovely flatmate invited me to have breakfast with her."
"You did?"
"I couldn't let him leave on an empty stomach after all the exercise he did yesterday. He is a professional athlete but he also is human, you know?" Silvia says while sipping from her cup and trying to hide her smile.
"Urgh" I groan.
"Where are you going now?"
"To find your t-shirt so you can finally leave!"
"And your breakfast?" Silvia asks.
"I'm not hungry!"
"But Val, you can't leave on an empty stomach either! You need to recharge your energy!"
"I'm fine" I say when I'm back, throwing the t-shirt at Pedri's face. "And now you can leave."
"I'm not leaving until you eat something" he says.
"You two are so annoying."
"We just care about you. Don't we, P?"
"We do."
"P?" I laugh. "Since when are you bffs?"
"Since we've been chatting a bit and getting to know each other. And I've also seen him shirtless and heard him while practicing a very intimate activity, something I didn't ask for despite wanting it to happen, but oh well. At least you guys had fun."
"We did" he smirks.
"Well, if you aren't leaving, I am."
"Oh, c'mon Val" Silvia says. "Don't be like that."
"I can't be late on my second day of work."
"You can't and you shouldn't. But wait" Pedri says, quickly leaving the kitchen.
"Where is he going now?"
"I don't know" Silvia shrugs.
"Here" he says when he comes back.
"My cookie?" I chuckle.
"You didn't get to eat it yesterday. It may not taste as good, but at least you will be eating something."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome" he smiles. "Can I get a goodbye kiss?"
"A kiss is what got us into this mess, so no, you can't. Goodbye."
"Ok, fine" he sighs. "I'll text you later."
"I won't reply" I say, opening the door.
"That's what you always say, and then…" Pedri smirks, his smile being the last thing I see before I leave.

Were you late for work?
Nope

Not for me
I'm alone in the house this weekend
And? Are you scared? 😂
I actually am, yes. Will you come and make me company? 🥺
Pass
I could show you around the neighborhood. And the weather still is nice, we could swim in the pool. And while I'm at training you can work. And then on Sunday you could come watch me play, it's the first game of the season.
I'm not setting a foot on the Camp Nou 🤢
🙄🙄
C'mon, Val. It'll be fun. A weekend just for you and I, getting to know each other.
And you don't have to cheer for me. You can boo me if you want
That's what I'll probably do, yes. But from my sofa
Please, Valeria 🥺
I would like to have you there
The game is at 9, I have to work on Monday
I'll drive you home after the game and then leave, I promise.

Fine 🙄  I'll think about it
I'll pick you up at 8 😊
Wait, what? I didn't say yes
When you say you'll think about it you always mean yes 🤷🏻‍♂️
I don't
Yes, you do 😊
Pack some comfy clothes and something nice for the game. The pyjamas and the bikini are optional 😏

Our solstice miracle
@leiawritesstories helooooo I am your secret Santa. Here I am with your present. Turns out that watching the NHL (the game between the Dallas Stars and Nashville predators was live and I had in it the background - neither of them are the team I support but the sound of hockey was perfect for writing) was all I needed. Not a huge story and definitely not a masterpiece but I hope the fluff will give you fuzzy feelings.
It's a Rowaelin as parents, we have Maya being her usual adorable self, lots of cuteness and a very small hint of smut at the very far end.
Merry Christmas and also thanks to @rowaelinscourtfor organising this event.
Tumblr media
Aelin loved the solstice. Loved winter and snow. The whole season made her giddy and Terrasen was big on winter since the snow was a permanent feature of the land.
But that year the celebrations had been a little subdued.
Her husband Rowan had gone to work for a month across the sea. He was an aircraft engineer working in the R&D department for a company manufacturing airplanes. He was quite renowned in his field and they had asked for him specifically. He was meant to be back already but the airport in the country he was at the moment, had shut down due to heavy snowstorms.
Aelin had cursed them and complained that they needed to be ready for all sorts of weathers and do not stop her husband from coming home and enjoy the holidays with his family.
She and Maya, their six years old daughter, had called him that morning to wish him a good holiday and Rowan had joked that he was going to suggest an upgrade in planes to be more resilient in heavy snow.
“Mama, can we skate?”
They lived outside Orynth in a huge chalet style house with nature around them and, to their delight, a lake behind the house. Such lake usually froze over around the beginning of November  until usually the end of March.
Aelin smiled, the lake had a lot of memories for her and Rowan. He had taught her to skate when they were young and he was a hotshot hockey player at uni. They had their first date on a bench on its banks. He proposed while they lay on the ice and admired the northern lights painting the sky with colours. She had announced him she was pregnant with Maya on a summer day during a walk.
She sighed “yes, baby we can go and skate before it gets dark.”
Maya squealed in delight and ran to her bedroom to grab her skates.
When she came back she had her backpack on her and a pair of small skates in her hands.
Rowan still played hockey in the local amateurs club and loved the more relaxed attitude.
He had the skills to go pro but he was more concentrated on finishing his degree with flying colours and get a good job so, although he had been the captain and he led his team to numerous victories he had no interest of playing hockey professionally. When then he met Aelin, the fiery med student who loved to figure skate occasionally, he knew his heart had been stolen. They fought when they had to share the ice, until they started practicing together.
They both had very demanding degrees but together they faced all the adversities and the stressful exam sessions. They even survived the four months that Rowan spent away for a prestigious work experience after graduation.
Seven years of marriage and this separation of a mere month was taking a toll on her. It was the first solstice apart and she was definitely not a fan.
“Why are you taking elf?”
“Because he wants to see the lake.”
Aelin kneeled near her daughter “Maya, leave elf home, you don’t want risk losing him, do you?”
“No mama.” The little girl removed the toy from the bag and placed him on the sofa telling him that she would be back soon.
Maya loved that stuffed elf. Rowan’s mum had gifted it to her when she was one and they had been inseparable.
“I am ready.”
Aelin got ready and made sure her daughter was all wrapped up.
“Do you want to take your stick?”
Maya had of course grown up surrounded by hockey. It was a religion in Terrasen and with her grandad being a famous THL player and her dad a keen player, it was bound to happen that she’d be obsessed too. She had just started her basic hockey lessons and going to games was a family tradition. Having Aelin’s father as a living legend it was enough to grant them great seats most of the home games and a lot of meet and greet with players.
“Yes mama, I need to practice and show dad I am good.”
Aelin smiled and grabbed the equipment and then left the house and headed to the lake.
The scene in front of them was stunning. The sky was a stunning deep blue and the air was crispy with temperatures at a mild -2C. Well, mild for Orynth standards.
At the bench Aelin sat her daughter down and helped her changing into her skates. Maya was still learning to tie her shoes so Aelin did it for her “now, wait for mum to change too and we are going, okay?”
“Mama, will you dance for me?”
Aelin smiled. Once, during a family outing Rowan had pushed Aelin to show their daughter some of her skills. It took some convincing but Aelin managed to re enact some of her routines. She had been in the figure skating team at uni but never had the time to take it seriously. Med school did not agree with extracurriculars. She loved skating and with time it had become a way to relax after a stressful day.
Together they reached the middle of the lake and Maya sat down on the ice, her heavy snow trousers keeping her warm and dry.
While keeping an eye on Maya Aelin did a loop while gathering speed. She pulled up her leg and spun quickly, listening to Maya giggle and cheer her on and when she was sure she had enough speed Aelin moved her body in position and executed a toe loop jump. A big smile painted on her face as she landed and with that  boost of confidence she did another loop gathering momentum for a Salchow.
Maya whooped in the background and Aelin skated back to her daughter “did you like that?”
“Yes mama, you are so pretty.”
Aelin never really learned the other more complicated jumps. She could land a decent Lutz but never had the time to learn something like an Axel. She knew the theory but never tried it.
Maya got up “mama, me too.”
Aelin laughed and took time to show Maya what to do. While her daughter was busy trying to jump, Aelin snapped a few pictures of her and sent them to Rowan We are at the lake and we miss you deeply. It’s not the same without you.
His answer came very quickly I miss you madly too. The hotel offers very little in terms of entertainment and people here cannot deal with the snow.
Aelin sighed and started at the background of her phone where she had a picture of Rowan and Maya.
“Come on muffin, play with mum.”
Aelin extracted a puck from her backpack and collected her stick from the ice. Maya got ready too and as soon as the black disc was on the ice, Maya sprung forward and grabbed it.
Aelin was speechless. Maya had definitely inherited her father’s skills on the ice.
“Mama look.” She skated away and pretended to score in an imaginary net. Aelin burst out laughing and move forward towards her daughter and then stole the puck “it’s mine.”
Maya groaned in a way that sounded a lot like her father when he was frustrated and started give chase to her mother.
Not long after, both girls were splayed on the ice laughing while Aelin kissed her daughter on her rosey cheeks.
“Fine, munchkin, you are a better skater.”
“Can I tell dad?”
“Of course, my love.”
The sun had started to fall at the horizon and Aelin was about to tell Maya it was time to go home, when a tall figure appeared at the edge of the woods.
She would recognise that silhouette everywhere. But it was not possible. Rowan was far away, stuck in a foreign land away from them. He had texted her a few hours ago. Surely she was dreaming.
He stopped to change into his skates and then moved towards them.
“Dada.” Maya screamed and put all her strength into skating to her father.
Rowan met her halfway and lifted the girl in his arms “dada, you are back.”
“Yes, my love, I really could not stay away anymore from you and your mum.”
“Did you miss me?“ her face snuggled in the crook of his neck.
Rowan’s gaze found his wife’s and smiled “I did. So very much.”
Aelin moved closer and a sob erupted from her lips and once she was in his arms she melted against him, inhaling his scent of pine and snow that always made her feel at home.
For a time that seemed endless they remained like that, Rowan with his arm around Aelin’s waist and Maya sandwiched in-between her parents.
“Ro, not that I am complaining but how?”
He chuckled “one of the guys stuck with us is ex airforce. He got tired of being away from his family so, with the help of the big boss of the company we managed to get a private jet organised and have clearance. He flew us home safely. The storm had abated, it was just the airport which was in bad condition.”
“Well, we need to buy a few drinks to this colleague.”
Rowan laughed and deposited a kiss on Maya’s head “I guess I just have to beg your dad for a few extra VIP hockey tickets.”
Aelin kissed her husband “all you want, hotshot.”
“Dada, will you play with me?”
Rowan placed his daughter on the ice and grabbed the stick Aelin passed him “come on muffin, show me what you have got.”
Aelin moved to the bench and changed back in her shoes while admiring father and daughter play.
*
Later on that night, after Maya was cozy in her bed and asleep after an intensive round of storytelling from her dad, Rowan joined his wife in bed.
Aelin placed the book on the nightstand “how many?”
“Five stories.”
“She missed you, Ro.”
Aelin pulled her husband closer “She is not the only one,” he added while snuggling closer.
His lips found her and devoured her mouth in an hungry and avid kiss “next time, we are meeting here and we’ll teach them something about winter flying.”
Aelin chuckled as her hand sneaked into his boxers “now, dear husband, show me just how much you missed your wife.”
Rowan growled as he pulled the t-shirt off her and his mouth closed to a hard nipple.
“Ro?”
“Yes, my love?”
“Maybe tonight we can work on making Maya a big sister?”
His head lifted and his green eyes lit up in joy and the statement “oh well then, you know I love a good challenge.”
“Then get to work, old man.”
Rowan laughed and caged his wife in his arms.
After a month away, being back with his family was all the solstice miracle he needed.

Cast:
me (@mothmute)
Belle (@snacco)
Cam (@amanitaspore), sadly absent
Erin (@salamand3rin)
Highlights include but are not limited to:
Summer 11:
I’m still in the pocket of Big Hog
Sturggling with the Sturgeons
Luau!
you weren’t just gonna eat a raw football, were you?
The governor seems a little hungry...
You ever eat soup so good you start vibrating?
we made so many friends! achievement soup!
Night farming! Didn’t have time to water everything in the morning!
Pompkin is your orange bastard? he’s our orange bastard
Summer 12:
Married life treating us well, Belle and I get stardrops! Erin is excluded.
so much friendship, we all get mailboxes full of recipes. spaghetti, salmon dinner, etc.
I go to continue funding the Hogs instead of housing upgrades ...
walk in on Shane drinking himself to death— I watered him, so he’s gonna grow up big and strong
... but I can’t get more Hogs until the barn upgrade finishes, whoops!
Hey, beach box! ... full of bombs!
(Erin has been visited by the yardwork fairy IRL, her audio is spotty for a while)
A train?? Erin lets me borrow Fella to go check it out. nothing.
Constable was stuck in a tree, but then he did a little shimmy and he got free
Evelyn is purchasing an octopus! —no fucking way, those things suck!
Summer 13:
Spirits have been displeased every day this session, must be ‘cause Cam isn’t here
Belle’s at level 9 farming, so she should harvest the crops (and choose correctly)
New pigs! Sheriff, Deputy, S.Trooper (”StateTrooper” wouldn’t fit), and Special Agent
set hogs to maximum!!
Cutscene with Kickflip— I go ahead and suggest experimental noise rock again, is there any point to suggesting anything else?
immediately get a second cutscene, wherein he gets an egg as a “snack” and drops it. Jody hears it from across the house and rushes to the scene of the crime, and gasped in horror; “This is absolutely terrible!”
I took the fall for him anyway— “no, the egg did.”
ANYWAY I was just here to give you some dumb soda
Belle finally got her axe together
“hey, what should I do today?” “it’s 8PM”
Erin considers making her house bigger to make room for Krobus, so he can come curl up in the corner and eat void mayonnaise straight out of the jar
Summer 14:
BELLE CHOOSES INCORRECTLY (nah that’s fine)
Pompkin is positioned for maximum obstruction; ConcernedApe clearly knows how cats work.
y’know, when the kegs were in the way, they were in constant use; now that they’re tucked neatly in the corner, nothing.
Erinbucks, making coffee
Belle loves Joja so much, she has her own Joja sign over her bed and everything
Summer 15:
Jodi wants a fish, the slimier the better
Kent wants a starfruit; “yeah, well, we all want things”
Pierre wants one (1) grape, so he can microdose on wine
Quest for the prismatic jelly!
Sebastian is fine with getting hammered, actually
Erin didn’t get the fish Jodi wanted, and now she’s anxious about holding up dinner and Vincent going hungry (see gallery)
Belle goes on a motorcyle ride with Sebastian (her husband), who says he “[doesn’t] normally bring girls here”
We conclude that Leah has both an ex-boyfriend and an ex-girlfriend, both named Kel.
Summer 16:
Accidentally gave Penny a cactus; she’s fine with this.
look, you don’t KNOW that my shirt was made with green little guy blood! it could be a vegan substitute!
bird wanders into the fire, emerges unscathed.
hey, know what fishers call the sewers? the carpal tunnel! 😎
Erin gets a soggy newspaper, but doesn’t tell us the soggy news
I spend all day in the mines hunting prismatic slime
Erin sacrifices herself for her coffee, but she didn’t even get the last one in, so it was all for naught.
Summer 17:
Pompkin clipping in the blueberries
Unethically sourced coffee; unfair trade; Erins were harmed in the making of this coffee.
I barely escape the mines with my life, after taunting the floating skulls one too many times
(and I almost go to Belle’s house instead of my own)
Summer 18:
back in the mines, I find a box of frozen tears. what’s the deal with those, anyway? whose tears are they?
Belle eats her pocket calamari
“where did that come from?” “I don’t understand the question”
no balrogs were harmed in the making of this film. they’re an endangered species, you know
Summer 19:
“just take the eggs and speak no more of this.”
Belle waters the goats; you don’t want your goat to dry out, do you?
Belle has collected 50 milk for my Purposes!
“don’t drink it all at once!” “but my bones would get SO STRONG!”
Camo pigs, hiding in the melons
(there’s a note in here about Jodi getting hammered, but I don’t remember the context. I feel like it might’ve been pam, actually?)
Can you imagine being a prismatic slime?
Summer 20:
oh right, my axe is ready, and probably has been for a few days
right, the milk! thank you!
Jas and Vincent meeting up without Penny, now that she’s a housewife
Penny probably left Jas in charge, Vincent is just like “I’m gonna eat dirt”
Erin is gonna get serial murdered!! (I jumped out wearing a mask)
I found the prismatic slime!
it’s late, so Erin just gets into bed with my wife.
Black? Phillip gave birth to a baby goat!!
named “lil phil”, got it in one!
default name was apparently “zenoze”, which kept sounding like “the nose” to me
Summer 21:
Penny watered some crops :)
Lewis wants truffle oil and says not to ask why, which IMMEDIATELY makes it so much more suspicious
I got two prismatic slime so I’m trying to figure out a way to preserve one of them for posterity
“maybe what’s his named, in the place" will buy it? (no, Marlon doesn’t buy it)
I try putting it on a table, which doesn’t work; and leaving its image on a sign, which does work (for now)
I go to make the delivery and try not to get eaten by the wizard
(“he doesn’t make it quick” “well, you wouldn’t want him to”)
Axe swap!
—“and my axe!” gets me a good grade in references, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve
Penny wants to redecorate and gives me a choice of some themes...
I mean it’s gotta be pirates, right?
(she does want me to move my stuff though so this is a note to remind myself to do that)
after not being sure what to do, it’s suggested that I go pick up after all my pigs, leaving truffles all over the place
Belle telepathically (bellepathically) offers me trash bread from a dozen paces away
Summer 22?:
we have monster musk now, we can make ourselves stinky! (see gallery)
also bombing everything, of course
TO-DO:
Upgrade coop?
Upgrade tools??
Upgrade houses???
Other construction? (slutch? fish ponds?)
at this point, I think any redesigns will be waiting ‘til winter
Bundles! ugh, we need a duck feather
Cam still needs to propose!
Stardrops!
I need to clean house a little for Penny’s benefit (Pennefit)

Hang ‘Em High {Arthur Morgan x F!OC} Chapter 28
Tumblr media
Pairing: Arthur Morgan x FemOC
Summery: Belle Hawthorne is high society looking to escape her mean husband. A robbery by the Van Der Linde gang could be her chance. Can she escape his cluches and possibly discover what love should feel like?
.....
Arthur began to slow his horse. Barley making some disgruntled snorts at the slowing of pace.
“What’s wrong?” I asked him, turning to look over my shoulder to see him looking around.
“Nothing, just…There she is.” He sprung his horse into a steady trot. Looking ahead in our new direction I struggled to see what we were aiming for until her form was visible within the distant treeline.
“Orion!”
“Let her out before going to the house.” He said softly over my shoulder. With everything that happened, I had completely forgotten about her. I fucking forgot about her. The panic and disorientation made me forget about one of the few things that had brought me joy recently. I was moving to jump from the horse before he had even come to a stop, Arthur’s arm wrapping around my waist prevented me from doing so. But once I was down, I ran towards her. Her finally lifting her head from the lush grass beneath her hooves. Giving her a few pats on the nose with the promise of all the carrots and sugar cubes she desired once we were back. After a few tender moments, raking my hair through her thick mane and not being able to take my eyes off hers, Arthur helped me mount back up on Barley, letting me hold onto the rope he had placed around Orions neck to keep her by our side.
It was an hours ride until we arrived at camp. Only slowing to give the horses a rest. Neither of us daring to stop in case any of the workers alerted the law and were on their way to us. We would have to lay low for a couple of weeks. No doubt the news of a wealthy businessman being murdered in his own home would be in the newspapers in the coming days. And his missing wife is suspect number one.
“Where are we?” I asked as I looked around. The surroundings not familiar to me despite Arthur only moments ago saying we are nearly there.
“We had to move. Bad business went down so we had to leave” I looked at him then, obvious concern showing with the furrow of my brow. He continued looking forwards as he said “I’ll tell you later once you’ve settled in.”
It was a house this time. Worn from years of abandonment but still, it was four walls and a roof. Quite the upgrade to what everyone here was used to. As we made our way in, I couldn’t help but notice the tranches and barricades along the dirt path leading to the house. Sandbags littered everywhere. A story of this house’s past. Now more marks will be made.
Charles was on watch beyond the entrance of the grounds. Repeater in hand. His eyes slid to us, giving nothing more than a nod and a “Glad to see you back.” As we passed.
“Grand is it not?” Frank said to me, helping me step out of the carriage with delicately soft hands. His eyes on me while mine were on the stunning house before me. My new home. Quite the improvement from the home and farm I grew up on. This place was one that had workers to tend to its beauty as well as its owners. The bushes and plants trimmed and pruned to perfection. Like they were here solely for the viewing pleasure of that horrid queen from that book I read many years ago. The one of that little British girl that ends up lost in a world she doesn’t understand. During her adventures of finding her way out, she makes some unexpected friendships.
The house – My home, is pristine white and brick. Clean, exquisite, faultless.
“I’ll give you a tour of the grounds later. But first, my love, rest. Our travels were gruelling. I asked the cook to serve up something I know you will enjoy for your arrival.”
I take one more look at the house, then drag my gaze to his. I can’t believe I was apprehensive about the marriage to a man I had only met once before. But my parents trusted him. It wasn’t just about the money they would receive from him for my hand. His smile is soft, his eyes warm as he leads me by the hand and into the house. My home. And what a grand home it is. Safe.
Arthur tries to lead me straight into this house, Shady belle he said it was called, but we were intercepted along the way by Mary-Beth. Her fast passed walk would be entertaining to watch if her face wasn’t etched with concern. “Bella! Oh my, what happened? Where have you been? We were so worried when you disappeared. We-” Her rambling was cut off by the rise of Arthurs hand between us. She apologised but it wasn’t needed.
“I’m fine. Will be once I get cleaned up anyway.” I say to her with a smile and a hand on her arm, although I know I probably look a sorrowful mess. Skirt ripped, swelling I could feel blooming and pulsing on my face along with the blood now dried down my cheek. Her other hand met mine on her arm and squeezed. Her returning smile and hold a reassurance that here, at this delipidated house with climbing Ivy swallowing its exterior and more windows broken than intact, was safe. Our new home.
With more heads turning to us, Arthur gripped my hand in his, ruthlessly strong, and had us continuing into the house and up to the next floor to his room. He didn’t say a word as he sat me down on his cot and then began rummaging around in his satchel and at the wash basin. He still said nothing as he cleaned the blood from my face, becoming gentler as he went in response to my flinching and hissing. My cheekbone and eye will no doubt be bruised for a week or so.
Still, he didn’t speak, not until his hand moving the wild strands of hair out of my face came down to rest on the curve between my shoulder and neck. His thumb slowly caressing my throat with a tenderness one would use on a newborn babe. “Wish I could go back and kill him again. Only this time with my hands round his throat.” I didn’t know what to say to that. Couldn’t form any words despite my mind reeling with I wish you could too - I wish I could - I’m sorry - It’s over now – thank you and I love you. Instead, I took his hand from my neck and held it in my lap.
He gave me one of his shirts to change into asking if I needed any help changing, to which I said no it's fine. Then he let me have my privacy saying he would grab me something to eat and some clothing of the girls to use until tomorrow when he would take me into the city to buy me my own.
When the door shut softly behind him, I made no move to rid myself of this damned dress of frills and pearls. Instead, I gave in to the tears welling in my eyes. And I sobbed.

Here comes the bus but we have announcements we have a huge flotilla heading this way and yeah these guys don't seem to want to do the job and we'll have to do the Bradley GT one on our own and Lily doesn't really want to be doing it she might but she doesn't seem to be able to but says it's kind of her character's name and that was her husband too and he says that would be something to have that actually work and should be running it so you want to do that. And we also want to exercise caution you have a full house today they're all here and it is a little bit bizarre but they have two different islands still we're going to have to stop these two groups and start our own stuff this automobile ideas but it's perfect and we like it for what we want and we want to infiltrate and we want fast small ships they're very helpful and we need tons of them we'll get a huge crowd together to try and get this going and a huge one to come in here two different crowns if anybody wants to volunteer for the Bradley GT1 projects on the project is open and we'll start if you want to check but this one is special to our son and daughter he dreamed a car to go to work to help his family and that's what he was doing a little bit of a sports car for fun but that's what he was thinking. And he was thinking you'd be a captain of his own business. They like the idea in the concept what they don't seem to have the time and that makes sense. Her son and daughter and grandson and daughter-in-law oh really daughter say that the idea really has to come from them meaning in the production of the Bradley and we understand that
Thor Freya
Olympus
Jesus ok fast enough
Hera
Yeah okay we're going to try and help that out
Frank Castle hardcastle
That's something on the boiler and it says our ideas good it's really their stuff and we can't jump in there and do it with the idea is kind of frustrating and BG has when it's close and BJ has one that's close and we don't know what they're doing there don't seem to be making the vehicle they don't need that many vehicles and they don't want them on the road corners have a need for them here and it's a zippy little foreign looking jobber and it's not and it says Bradley so I get in the military so I might go to Miami and see if they're interested there and it's a great idea he says he knows who to talk to and he's interested it might actually make it the thing they could send it over and use the chassis here and that would be something that's another way to do it it's just to build them and sell them and really the chassis would come from individuals it's not a bad idea we have to work with them and Uriel and goddess wife are still in the Neptune phase and it would honor them in order to do it and I looked at it this morning I heard the boys and girls and we decided to go ahead and try it and they were talking about doing it
Blockbuster Duke nukem
We did hear about it we did say we're interested and we have a couple designs and your design would be great because it's not there so you can't say we're taking it you're not doing a damn thing with it and they're slow lazy and mean and all that stuff is like stock parts and the engine is very fast miles per hour and a 200 mi range at 60 MPH and they can upgrade the battery and it makes it go about 300 and the range is 300 and 60 miles per hour but still it's really fast and he wants to get one in China usually has a decent system he says of checking quality even sure it works that's true too has to meet with DOT approval and we usually get that done we're going to look into it it's a great idea and yeah we're trying to raise Bruce Lee but if you crying out loud this people will do it and he's a serious competitor he's had big fights but not like this

its 2024
and ive been feeling at a 'loss of words' lately- in that i just have no words coming out of me, when in the past it'd flow outta me ever-so-freely. would this be the case of art/visual making if i hadnt met lq and formed rr? life is a series of decisions all linked up into one but how are you supposed to know which one is life altering/irreversible/suddenly you're about to be 33 and you wonder how everything even came to be?
definitely using my gut in all instances has never let me down (much) anyway. thats the one thing ive got..
spiritually i feel a little guilty its been kinda dry, as much i want to constantly bask in the fact that life is pretty damn awesome, as 'good as it gets, this new normal of being a mom and now having a home to call our own (again!) - its still so surreal like we spent the last of 2023 there and we stayed over all in one bed it feels like life is a staycay now or something. i love my little fam, the four of us just work and its such a cute little squad matt and i built. we're such ADULTS now, we have a mortage and everything, 'upgraders' lolol remember humble ol' TB days. now we're in the finest of mount sinai and there's no coffeeshop in sight. we also dont need a tv no more. ive been so obsessed with gorman in 2023, its a new high i mean ive always been but its like next levels and now we can cart out homeware stuff??? like the other day in front of all the melamine I WAS LIVING
learning how to draw boundaries and protect my inner soul, protect what matt and i have. the toxic-ness that is my mother sometimes. i need to learn how to navigate- it's been such an ongoing process. but also thinking more for my husband, being more mindful of his feelings because hes always pre-empting and looking out for mine
a pivotal moment in 2023 was us searching for houses like every week, condo visiting, and i remember feeling a little bummed knowing marbella is beautiful but theres no way we can afford the 3-bedder. but then who'd have imagined we DID end up here, in a cute little 2-bedder?! def a memory i think about a lot. and making the most of our constraints, to quote marcus 'this is where creative solutions truly come to play, working with constraints and limitations;
matt and i fought a lot more than usual in 2023, i think cos lifes so much more grave and serious now, commitment wise?? and also some days can be so overwhelming in this parenting journey. today though holly pretend play that her ice cream is 'expired', and tara can speak complete sentences (starting to), shes going to start school after cny and it all just goes by sooo fast. the highs, the lows, the in-betweens. gotta love it all
i dont regret anything about this life although respite is necessary. now we have our new house to focus on and just take ownership of. the PEACE and the tranquil that comes with having your own space, being surrounded by nice things that are yourss. it's pretty special. its our little resort! it's still the little things. i remember getting an exhilarating rush from the little things- and that is living
the girls are at such a cute age sometimes i feel sad it changes so fast. but all the more to embrace and roll with the process, and just try to be better each day. we've levelled up so much as parents from us taking them the entire weekend to now being so so confident? the growth of humanity is in us. i love life and i hope i always will.

how i am feeling rn:
honestly like a woman
negative connotation
like i feel like we’re falling a little into the nag wife manchild husband trope
like were on that slope
Not totally there ofc
but that’s just what its giving
And its frustrating bc its a problem i thought we were better than but were not
And i feel like i’m not the problem this time
For once
But idk how to not be the problem
How do you hold someone else accountable for somth and not be a wicked bitch ab it
I just want more effort
From him
and effective effort like think it through
maturity
considering your actions and how they impact ppl around you
like i feel like consideration is beat into girls from birth
like oh honey don’t be too loud
and boys are just boys
and dismissed like oh hehe they’re just like that
ARGGGG woman dating a man thing
and its not just that
like its also us and our experiences
mental labor fs fs
its so frustrating waiting for someone to catch up all the time and its also frustrating to have to bite your tongue and accommodate all the time
and I’ve planned most of our recent dates and activities and etc
and ik school is stressful and change is stressful
but i’m not just a ball you can drop when things get hard
and also like take me serious when i say things
when i want to go home, i do
its hard to get up when someone is sleepy next to you
and you don’t care ab being late but i do
And when you aren’t helpful in me getting up it i feel super unsupportive and like i’m fighting my sleepies and your sleepies
so i’m doing twice the work for no reason
and when i want to go home or go to bed like please be supportive of that
sleep is hard for me! and that’s not smth u understand
i can’t just nap
i feel like fucking shit when i don’t sleep well
and then i’m resentful
also don’t come to the gym if you’re on angry mode
either get it to fucking gether
or go solo
gym together is fun
do demon shit on your own time where its not gonna ruin my mood
it is so damn jarring and then i just don’t want to be there and i don’t want to be there with you and i just check out and want to go home as soon as possible
i’m sick of fighting in the gym its so cringe
How i want things to go:
I want you to show more effort in like mature adult things and like considerate effort
not just like oh here i tried
like try to do it right
this isn’t completion credit
i just want to feel like you care enough about me and respect me enough to put in genuine effort
i want you to work on some of your habits now bc it takes a long time to change them
look up the science idc - its like roughly two months
you know how to cook and i want you to also be capable of making major food group meals
demonstrated independence
- look up recipes
- cleaning initiative
- cleaning stove and kitchen is great! more of that
- yes ik ur a boy but i’m not lowering my standards that’s just shitty for me, also maybe examine why boys aren’t as clean (bc its not expected, its not demonstrated, societal attitudes towards who’s job it is to do stuff)
- i want to to feel like equal partnership
- look for housing: proactive in developing criteria and getting familiar with the market and how things go
- just bc ur scared of your roommates doesn’t mean you wait days to do your dishes, like a little bit of face your uncomfortable-ness
- i want moving in together to be an upgrade for me (and for u but it already is)

THANKSGIVING 2022
This Thanksgiving we were grateful to head to Colorado to spend time with loved ones.  A week and a  half before we were supposed to leave my husband tested positive for COVID.  This brought back memories of 2 years ago when he was the first to test positive for COVID in our house, then the other 4 out of 5 of us tested positive as well and we had to cancel our trip to Colorado for Thanksgiving.  The girls and I had recently been vaccinated and I can honestly say it made a difference for us as we all tested again before leaving and no one was positive.
It was a long drive to get there so we left around 4am.  We then stopped at our lovely Streamside in Vail that we stay at every year to use the restrooms.  And we also stopped in Silverthorne, where my husband’s brother and his wife were staying with his son and his wife and that wife’s parents.  It was a quick stop in, but so nice to see them all!  We arrived in Loveland around 8pm with sub sandwiches in hand at Taylor and Cate’s home.
Tumblr media
Thanksgiving day was so restful and peaceful. Cate did all the cooking except the green bean casserole, which is Devyn’s signature dish to make.  She even made her homemade rolls, starting them the night before.  It was so weird to not be in the kitchen.  They had yummy appetizers as well.  And we spent the day playing games and enjoying each other's company.  And of course there was Costco pumpkin pie for dessert and we watched Cate’s traditional Thanksgiving movie “Miracle on 34th Street”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Friday was a day of sleeping in and we did some black Friday shopping at Walmart and Target.  Several of us upgraded our phones.  Taylor wanted to spend some one on one time with each of the younger girls which I found to be a great idea.  She took Tayleigh on Wednesday night out for Crumbl cookie.  Friday she took Devyn to a coffee shop and Plato’s closet, a thrift store they enjoy.  She also took Autumn out Friday night to get perfume at Ulta.  I love that she found individual things that interested them.
On Saturday we made a trip into Denver.  Our first stop was Dave’s Dad and Beth’s place where Beth had prepared a delicious lunch for all of us.  Dave’s brother, Steve, and his wife Georgina had stayed the previous night, and Dave’s sister Diana came over as well, so we were just missing his sister Sheryl.  His Dad made a decision for everyone to take a bear home out of his bear collection.  He had us draw numbers to decide in what order to pick. What fun it was to go around the home and look at all the bears he has accumulated over the year.  And he had lots of stories to go with the bears.  I picked one made up of different colors of clay, it was not painted.  It is very special to me and now sits on my desk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Diana and Steve then ran to Costco to pick up some food so we could have dinner with Dave’s Mom at her assisted living residence.  Diana had reserved a room for us to all be together.  Taylor and Cate gave Grandma Kathy a special wooden block that says “Jesus Loves You, and So Does Grandma.”  It was hard to see her short term memory loss, when several times she showed me the wooden block and told me how she was going to display it, but she didn’t know who gave it to her.  We spent a few hours together and then we headed back to Loveland as we knew we needed to get to bed at a decent time because we were leaving early the next morning.  But we did make time that evening to watch the Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a great trip and we hit some snow in the mountains on our very long drive home, but we arrived home safely and truly enjoyed our trip to Colorado.

Warnings: Mention of burning alive, mention of torture and abusive past
"You know I find it hard to believe that you don't recognize your own Daughter," I played with the blade of John's hunting knife, "Were you that much of an absent father?" I looked up at the three hunters I hold hostage. my black eyes staring at them, a deadpanned look across my may face.
"I don't have a daughter!" he lost his cool fast. he yelled at me and I barely said anything.
"Of course you do," I bent down to his eye level, "You just forgot about her in the fire."
~~~~~22 years before~~~~~
3rd POV
Marry had just tucked in her two latest pride and joys. today was their six-month birthdays and something about that felt familiar to Marry as she forgot about it. as she walked out of the room after kissing the twins goodnight, she dismissed the feeling.
Mary passes John as she leaves the nursery, he's on his way to put Dean to bed. Once all children were put to bed, the adults of the house decided that it was their turn to turn in fr the night.
About an hour or two later, Mary stirs in her sleep. the noise from the baby monitor keeping her from sleeping. he sat up ready to make her way to the nursery to see little Sammy and precious (Y/N). she walked through the hall and sees a dim light coming from the TV downstairs.
Mary looks into the room in which the baby duo occupied, just to see the silhouette of her husband standing over the crib both babies slept in. they hadn't expected twins so they had only used the one that Dean used.
"John?" Mary spoke up, "Are they hungry?" she queried.
"Shh." her Husband shushed, she took it as a sign that he had just managed to put the two tots to bed. Mary made her way downstairs to turn off the TV, once she made her way to the bottom of the wooded steps she saw the last thing she expected to see.
On the couch was her husband sleeping, but in the room was John putting the babies to sleep. Marry quickly darted up the stairs turning on the lights to her own death. John awoke to the sounds of his wife screaming.
John saw the sight of the fire in the nursery, he also saw Dean standing in the hall scared.
"Get your siblings!" he shouted at the poor child. as he ran down the stairs to call for help.
~~~~~Present day~~~~~
(Y/N)'s POV
"(Y/N)?" his voice shook.
"Ding! Ding! ding!" I stood straight, "We have a winner!" I pointed at him.
"Get out of her, you black-eyed bitch!" I heard Dean speak up from the end of the line.
"Oh Dee," I chuckled, "I am your sister, I'm just upgraded." I smiled, looking back down at the knife I'm now twisting in my palm.
"You're not my sister, you're just a girl I met at school." his voice turned down yet sterned.
~~~~~9 years before~~~~~
Another day, another motel, another school. I never knew why we moved around a lot. all I knew was that it was for dad's work. I woke up to a single-bed hotel room once again. why only one bed you may ask? well, my dad is a crossroads demon for Hell so he's never around, but when he is I get new marks on my skin.
I got ready for school, I put on a black sweater with a white-collar shirt underneath. I slid my legs into a pair of ripped black jeans and tied my dirt-stained white converse. I slung my bag over my shoulder and walked to the school.
the day went by miserably slow. I was walking to the lunchroom, books safely tucked into my locker. I wasn't going to eat anything, I just had to be there. I felt someone's shoulder knock into mine.
"Sorry." I squeaked out, my frame folding into itself. I looked at the person I ran into. he looked to be a senior, 6' 7" and built like a chad.
"You think you can just push me around?" his voice boomed throughout the hall, making everyone stop.
"n-no," I stuttered. I felt my shoulder get grabbed and my back gets pushed up against the locker.
"I'm gonna make you pay for even laying eyes on me short stack!" he reeled his fist back, I closed my eyes waiting for the impact.
"You wanna think about that again?" a stern voice spoke up. I opened my eyes to see a familiar face, he had light freckles on his skin, dark brown hair, and an old leather jacket. he was always at every school I went to, and always managed to get the reputation of the bad boy everyone was scared of.
the giant quickly scurried off, leaving Dean and me in the same spot.
"You okay?" he looked at me.
"mm." I hummed, "Thanks, Dean." I quietly thanked about to make my way to the lunchroom.
"You know me?" he stopped me.
"Of course, you're always at every school I go to." I looked back at him, "Almost like you follow me." I smiled. most are scared of him, but when you see him almost every day for 13 years you tend to not be as scared.
~~~~~Present day~~~~~
Ever since that day he protected me from bullies and on occasion tended to my wounds caused by my father.
"That happens to also be your sister." I smiled at him. "I swear we crossed paths so many times. I was left to burn in a fire, saved by a demon instead of my own father, always in the same motel just one room over, in the same class as Sam, always saved by Dean, always kicked out by John, and always left behind for the wolves." I walked around them.
"The demon did this to you," Sam concluded.
"You'd think that wouldn't you?" I kneeled in front of him, my knife gliding across his jaw. "Sam it always was you, you were the one to push me over the edge."
~~~~~5 Years Before~~~~~
"You might have had Dean fooled but I'm not!" sam yelled at me. I was hoping Dee would be at their room so he could help me sew up a deep gash I got on my arm. a wound that was being held closed by an old tee-shirt. "I know you are one of those things that killed our mother!"
"Sammy what are you talking about?" tears of pain dried upon my face, but new tears forming on my face. how could Same think I'm a monster?
"Don't call me that!" he pushed me back a little from my shoulders. the harsh movement caused a sting in my wound, but I won't let any pain show now. "I hate you I always have! You're nothing but a monster!" he grabbed my uninjured arm and shoved me out of the room. I stood outside as he slammed the door in my face.
something changed in me that day. something big broke. I hated what I was, so I changed in that split second. my eyes turned black that night.
~~~~~Present day~~~~~
"You know you don't have to watch me." I stood up and looked in the direction of Crowley, the demon who found me burning. "I've been planing this since I was 17." I smiled, watching him disappear. I looked around the room, making sure that he was absolutely gone.
"Thank Lucifer he's gone!" I smiled, I quickly walked over to Dean undoing his restraints.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"I may be a demon now, but I still care about you Dee," I said standing up hugging him after dropping the knife.
"I know." he hugged back.
"Dean are you crazy? She's a demon?!" I heard John yell.
"And you left your child to burn alive so it's not like you're all that good either." I went over to sam to undo his restraints too.
"How do we know we can trust you?"
"Well you never did before, so don't know." I smiled, crawling over to John's chair.
"Sam, get the Colt." I heard Sam listen to John.
"Wrong direction Sammy boy." I pulled the gun out of my pants while I stood up.
"So you planned to get the gun from us?" john stood up, facing me.
"no, I'll give it back once you guys are out of  here." I looked him in the eyes.
"She wouldn't hurt us, dad." I heard Dean speak from his spot near Sam.
"And how can we trust her?" venom leaked from the old man's words.
"Fine." I sighed, "Let's make a deal." I smiled at them.
"For what our souls, you might as well kill us now then." sam sounded angry
"No of course not. I'm a demon there for I have to keep the deals I make, I let you escape if you shoot me, not dead but in the shoulder."
"Why?"
"I don't want to hurt you guys, so I need to make it seem like you escaped on your own without my help."
"And you thought I wouldn't notice?" I heard crowly say from behind me.
"I'm not going to hurt them." I looked at him.
"No you were always too sensitive, it's the human in you." I threw the colt at Dee.
"And it what has kept me alive." I smile at him.
"It's what's going to kill you,"
"But you haven't killed me, I think that's your human side." he stepped in front of me.
"You better choose your next words very wisely," he advised
"If you wanted to kill you would have by know, face it. you care for me a little bit." he snapped his fingers and I was back in hell. in my room, well more like a holding cell.
"Argue with Crowley again?" a demon asked me from outside from my cell.
"Mmhmm." I slumped on the floor in the corner of the small cement room. just hoping that my brothers would come and save me this time.

Tumblr media
Sul Sul, my siblings in Christ!!!!! I can’t believe it’s been ten years since my last update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have SO MUCH to share!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
FIRST: we moved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God has blessed Jeb with promotions, and PTL we were able to upgrade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
I won’t go through the whole house, but there’s a very special room I want to mention!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When we bought the house, it came with a small nursery off of the master bedroom, which is just silly!!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine my daughters having to go through Jeb and I’s room every time the baby cries!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So we put the baby in the hallway outside the girl’s room and converted the baby room to a Jesus Room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My little sister, Hannah, swears by them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, instead of a small part of a hallway, we have an entire room to worship God and repent for our sins!!!!!!!!!!!!! How Godly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And speaking of babies, I will of course share how my Godly quiver has changed over the years!!!!! Some arrows had to be shot off into the world to spread God’s glory and grow quivers off their own, but there’s always a fresh and adorable little arrow to replace them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Winona and Veronica got married to their now-husbands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Of course, Xavier got married as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His so-called “bride” chose to dress as some freak from Satan’s forest rather than a modest and pure daughter of the Lord at the wedding, but now that’s Xavier’s problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Yvette and Zinnia had some troubles finding husbands, so they signed up for our church’s Making Christ-Centered Couples program!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MCCC helps Godly young men and women find their Godly match, and through God’s glorious love powers He matched my daughters up with Dustin and Archer Goth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, Tanny refused to attend Yvette’s wedding because Archer Goth allegedly bullied him, but Tanny was clearly just being overdramatic and unreasonable!!!!!!!!!!!!! If something was wrong, I would have been told, and Tanny has never, ever said anything to me!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, they can duke it out at the Pearly Gates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As you can see, Zinnia took half the cats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She took Bible, Angel, God’s Mercy, and God’s Love while Gregory kept God’s Might, God’s Light, God’s Grace, and God’s Will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course, none of them are kittens anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Aaron isn’t my first son to leave at 18 with no girlfriend, but I pray he will be the last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t know what your life has in store, Aaron, but Mama will be praying for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(a/n: He’s the property of are-they-all-sims now lmao. Given away like cattle, God bless 🙏 )
Tumblr media
Bethany met and married Josiah Hays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although I STRONGLY discouraged her from wearing that slutty eyeliner, her headship allowed it so now she wears the Devil’s paint on her face every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So sad :(
Naturally, Bethany moved just two houses down from Winona!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hear their kids are growing up close, which is just wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Family is the most important thing in life after God, after all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Clara found a fellow Technophobe, Thaddeus Charm, and they married!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They moved away to the country, where they live such a sweet little farmer life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ll stop here to keep this post as trim as a Godly lady’s waistline ;) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next up: the blessings still at home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dove (2/2)
Plot: the reader and Bucky find out what happened to there kids.
Tumblr media
Two months. That’s how long you and Bucky have been searching for your kids around the world. So far you tracked down two out of them and they were absolutely wonderful. The first one you found was named Alice and she lived in Australia. She told you that she tried to find you guys when she was eighteen but never found anything. She proceeded to introduce you to her husband, your grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. “Are we going to see you again?” Alice asked. “Of course baby girl. We want to have constant contact with you and our precious grandchildren” you wiped away her tears and placed a kiss on her forehead. You and Bucky stayed with Alice and her family for two weeks before you headed off to search for your other kids. On the day that you left Alice’s home, you gave her yours and Bucky’s number and told her to call if she needed anything. “Ready to find our two other angels?” “Yup” you placed a kiss on Bucky’s kiss before you headed off.
Tumblr media
You found your second child in Scotland. His name was Fergus just like Alice, he tried to find you guys but couldn’t. You found yourself crying when Fergus showed you his baby photo “You were so precious, I mean you still are but oh my gosh you are adorable. Bucky look at our boy” you handed him the photo was holding. “Oh my gosh you look exactly like me when I was little” Bucky laughed. “Really ! ? !” Fergus looked at Bucky in awe. Bucky just smiled and nodded his head “Umm Do you guys want me to show you around my house before my family comes back”. “Ok,” you answered and stood up before you followed Fergus as he showed you around his small yet beautifully decorated home. Just as he finished showing you around his home you spotted a man and a teenager entering the house. “Ethan, Fiona this is my mom and dad” Fergus introduced you to his husband and daughter and explained to them why he looked older than you and Bucky. “It’s nice to meet you, my name is Fiona” Fiona held out her hand as she introduced herself. “Oh no, come give your grandma a hug” you walked up to Fiona and gave her a warm hug before you walked over to Ethan. Ethan was nervous because he thought you weren’t going to be accepting of his relationship with Fergus “Hello.” You eyed Ethan for a few seconds before you looked over at Fergus “Fergus you got yourself a looker. Does he treat you well?” “Yes he does, he’s actually the one who encouraged me to find you guys and was there for me when I couldn’t find anything” Fergus replied. “Is that so?” you looked back at Ethan and smiled before you pulled him into a hug “Thank you for looking out for our boy, I know you don’t need it but you have my approval.”
Tumblr media
After dinner, you guys found yourselves in the living room sharing stories about your lives and telling them what it was like being an Avenger. “Mom, dad do you think you guys could stay with us awhile.” You wrapped your arms around Fergus and kissed his forehead before you replied: “Of course my precious boy, I mean we spent two weeks with your sister and her family. It would only be right if we spent two weeks with you and your family as well.” “I have a sister ! ! !” Fergus exclaimed and got Ethan, Fiona and Bucky’s attention. “Sorry” Fergus apologized. “It’s ok” you laughed “and yes, her name is Alice.” You replied and began to Fergus about his older sister “We’re going to have a party in four months so hopefully you guys will meet.” “Hopefully” Fergus smiled at you “It’s getting late, let me take you and Dad to our guest room so you guys could rest. Tomorrow I’ll give you guys a tour around Scotland” Fergus helped you up and showed you and Bucky to their guest room so you guys could go to sleep. Your two weeks with Fergus and his family flew by and before you and Bucky knew it, you guys were saying goodbye to them. “Call us if you need anything ok?” “Ok. I’ll talk to you guys later” Fergus gave you a hug before you walked towards the quinjet with Bucky.
Tumblr media
With one week left you and Bucky were growing anxious to find your third child. You guys were about to give up when you finally found her “Bucky I found her ! ! !” you shouted. Looking at her you could tell she was yours and Bucky’s daughter because she had your eyes and Bucky’s nose and smile. “Her name is Mary Fitzpatrick. She was sent to New York and- oh no Buck, our little girl died.” Bucky felt his heart ached at the news but tried to hide the pain from you “See if they had any kids” Bucky suggested as he looked over your shoulder. After a few more minutes of searching your jaw dropped as you read a birth certificate “Oh my god, Peter is our grandson” you whispered. “We have been with our grandson without realizing it.” Bucky’s eyes widened at the news “Let’s go home to our grandson.” You got in the pilot's seat and flew home. You guys arrived back at the compound a quarter past eight in the morning and by then you were both tired. “Welcome home !!! Did you find all of your children ?” you heard Steve’s voice behind you. You were about to reply when you heard Peter’s voice “Welcome back! The compound wasn’t the same without you guys.” Peter smiled at you and Bucky. Without saying a word you and Bucky walked over to Peter and gave him a hug “Our precious Peter.” “Uhhh what’s going on?” Peter asked. A confused look was plastered on his face. Pulling away you cupped peters face “You my precious Peter are our grandson”. Peter went pale at the news “w-w-what?” “We’re your grandparents from your mother's side” Bucky explained and placed his hand on Peter’s shoulders. “I would like to apologize again for what happened at the airport.” “What happened at an airport?” you looked over at Bucky before you looked back at Peter. Bucky took a few steps back and replied “When Steve and Tony had the disagreement over the sokovia accords we had a fight at an airport” Bucky paused for a few seconds before continuing “and I fought against Peter.” You took several deep breaths before you shouted “You fought our grandson! ! !” You walked up to Bucky and slapped him on the back of his head. “Ow ! ! !” Bucky rubbed the back of his head “It happened a long time ago and I didn’t know he was our grandson.” “You still fought a CHILD ! ! !” you slapped him again. “Come with me, grandma is going to take you out for breakfast.” You grabbed Peter’s arm and dragged him out of the room before he had the chance to respond. “Y/n wait I’m sorry ! ! !” Bucky ran after you guys but ran into Tony on the way. “Sorry” Bucky apologized and continued to run after you guys. “What the fuck is his wrong with him and why is y/n dragging peter out of the compound? We were going to go over the upgrades on his suit” Tony glared at the spot where he and Bucky collided. Steve laughed at Tony’s confused state patted his shoulder “y/n and Bucky are Peter’s grandparents and y/n just found out Bucky fought against him.” Steve replied before he walked out of the room and left Tony alone in the dining room. “Wait WHAT ! ! !” Tony shout to himself and called up rhodey to tell him the news.

Ransom Drysdale x Reader request from capshoney: Ransom with 31 and 39?
Summary: Ransom is oddly kind to you, but you always brush it off because of your closeness with his mother. Word Count: 2.4k
31) “If we’re going to keep ending up in life-or-death situations, trust that I will save you every single time.” 39) “Wait, are you saying you want to move in with me?”
Tumblr media
“(Y/N),” You heard your name spoken with calmness, yet with authority from the black office phone that sat to the right of your Mac Desk Top. Everything was finely put in place, perfectly organized so that you could complete any task at a moment’s notice.
Currently, your eyes were fixated on the screen of the desktop, checking over the calendar for Mrs. Drysdale and various appointments she or her husband previously set so that you could coordinate a time for her to meet with a fairly new client. Your job was supposed to be centered around organizing Mrs.Drysdale’s emails, clients, and setting her calendar. Yet, your job description originally didn’t include practically becoming her personal assistant in both her workplace and life.
“(Y/N),” Mrs. Drysdale’s voice called again with just a touch of impatience.
Quickly, you picked up the phone and opened her full calendar for the month, along with opening both her husbands’ and sons’ schedules in minimized tabs.
“What can I do for you, Mrs. Linda?”
“Father’s will reading shall be taking place on Saturday at 3 pm,” She promptly stopped and you quickly began typing away into Mr. and Mrs. Drysdale’s calendar.
“Aare there any arrangements you would like particularly made? Dry-cleaning? Have to cook set up a lunch or appetizers?”
“I need two items. First of all, have my pink suit pressed and dry-cleaned please,” You quickly scribbled down her request onto a post-it note, “and secondly, if you could stop by son’s little bachelor pad and ask if he plans to attend that would be phenomenal. And make sure his maid is still coming and that he hasn’t managed to scare her off yet. You can do that after your lunch break.”
“Yes ma’am, anything else?”
“Actually, if you could go now, you could pick up some lunch for him. I doubt he’s had anything besides a protein shake and who knows what else. Charge it to the VISA”
“Of course, ma’am. Have a wonderful afternoon.”
“Thank you, sweetie.”
After five years, 2 years as an intern and 3 as an actual employee, you had come to know and be known by Mrs. Drysdale’s full family. They were an interesting mix of hard workers with rich kid mentalities. Well, most of them. And they were ever a loud crowd. But quite recently, her father had died from a supposed suicide. Of course, that truly wasn’t any of your own business, you just coordinated the funeral date, the invitations, the catering, and anything which the family didn’t want to settle themselves. At the end of it all, you weren’t permitted to attend the funeral which in all honesty made a fair amount of sense.
You didn’t know Harlan at all personally, but he was always kind to you and asked his daughter and her family to treat you with kindness. But two factors didn’t make sense about the funeral. Why they didn’t allow Harlan’s sweet nurse, Marta, to attend… and why Ransom Drysdale didn’t make an appearance at his beloved grandfather’s funeral?
                                                           -  -  -
The little doorbell camera rang as you balanced a paper sack and drink tray in one arm, and your purse and phone in the other. You waved at the camera, knowing he got humor out of watching people wait for him through his recently upgraded phone.
“Afternoon, Ransom. You know I would usually let myself in with the key above the door frame, but as you’ll notice,” you attempted to show off full your hands were, ”My hands are quite full. If you could kindly-”
The large wood door swung open into Ransom’s modern house before you could finish your sentence. And there stood Ransom in a pair of black jeans, a creme shirt, and a burgundy cardigan which you gave him for Christmas two years ago. If he had a scarf and boots on, you would’ve suspected that he just returned home from an outing.
“-open the door,” you stepped inside and made your way promptly to the kitchen, “Glad to see that you're fully awake and you didn’t leave any trash for me to pick up. How sweet. That makes what? Three months?”
“Well, it’s been four months since I brought home a pretty little thing for any bar or club,” Ransom took a seat on a stool and watched you unload your items onto the kitchen island. From the brown paper sack, you pulled two clear to-go containers; one containing Ransom’s favorite turkey and rye sandwich and a side of fruit salad, and in the other, your preferred lunch meal of choice. He threw you his signature smirk as you handed him his container, his hand soft grazing yours, “Are you proud of me, (Y/N)?”
Both his words and his actions caused your cheeks to fluster a bit. You understood how unprofessional your encounters with Mrs. Drysdale’s son were, but either she made it a point to notice or she simply didn’t care. Linda had only taken comfort in you a few times, but her frequent concern was Ransom and his future.
“Of course I am,” You smiled at him kindly, before returning back to business reaching into the bag again to obtain napkins and cutlery, “Now, your mother will pester me about this if I don’t get an answer to her in the next twenty-four hours. Do you...”
Ransom’s gaze shifted down to the pile on the counter where he noticed a napkin with black spots.
“...Do you plan to attend the reading of the will? I mean, after his birthday and not attending the funeral, I’m not sure what your p-”
“Yeah, I’ll be there, but (Y/N),” sipping your drink, you turned around to see what had captivated him, “who wrong this note?”
On the napkin was inscribed:
Does sleeping with him get you extra money from his mommy?        X.
“Wh-what? I need a drink, that doesn’t even make sense. I haven’t even spent the night here, well except for when your mother left me here for four hours the night before our business trip but I’ve never even entered your room with you in there. This is just some small... little...” but the world seemed to fade quickly.
                                                          -  -  -
“Does she have any family?”
“Her mother and sister live in Vermont, but no one in the state. We treat her like part of our family”
The two female voices continued their conversation as you opened your eyes but quickly covered them to adjust yourself to the light. You saw Ransom sitting in one of the chairs while Linda answered any medical or personal questions.
“Where are we? Ransom- what happened?”
“Well, what’s the last thing you remember?”Ransom asked.
Telling you how proud I am of you.
“Asking about your schedule for the weekend?” From there on, things were blurry, but shapes and colors would stand. Things you might remember later.
“From your report, it seems you were drugged. Nothing heavy, but quite fast-acting. At least, you weren’t behind the wheel when this happened,” The nurse responded, “You’re free to leave, thanks to Mrs. Drysdale here.”
Linda gave the nurse the same smile she gives to every client after a sale, “Thank you, now let’s get to my car. Hugh, your father is probably waiting at the house with dinner. And you better behave, because Ms. (Y/L/N) will be our guest tonight”
                                                         -  -  -
The dinner table inside the Thrombey House was on the quiet side, even though the full family was in attendance. It wasn’t your first time attending such an event, but it wasn’t one you made frequent. The youth spent most of the meal on their phones while the adults chattered about various topics, and even asked you a few questions about future aspirations or opinions on the current state of something you probably couldn’t care less about tonight. Everyone tried to engage themselves in something, except for Ransom who picked at his food and made a few crass comments under his breath. You took the slight lull to speak up.
“Thank you for allowing me to stay for the evening. My car is stranded at Ransom’s and getting an Uber this late in the evening is-”
“(Y/N), you’re my go-to girl, my secretary, practically my personal assistant. I couldn’t allow for anything bad to happen to you. You’re far too... valuable to be lost,” Linda never spoke like this, unless she needs to boast about her own self-made business and image.
“In fact,” it was now Richard’s turn to begin boasting about how you were so helpful to the entire Drysdale family and coordinating the funeral and this and that and you just couldn’t comprehend why such a family always had to one-up each other. It simply had to be exhausting.
Fran then entered into the dining area and began clearing plates. You offered to assist her, but she mustered up a smile that said she could handle it by herself. When she came around to take your plate, a neatly folded piece of paper sat right underneath it. Quickly, you snatched it from its’ position, hoping to one saw the paper or your sly movements.
You thought you could get away with it until you felt a foot connect with your shin. Blue eyes met your own and you knew Ransom saw everything. He just seemed to always pay close attention to you, maybe a sign of concern or endearment. And you could tell exactly what his eyes were saying.
“Well, thank you, all of you with providing me dinner and a room for the night,” You quietly slid your chair back and stood.
“Of course, dear. Hugh,” Ransom peered to his mother as if surprised by her attention, “Please show, (Y/N), our guest room before you make your own exit for the evening.”
Ransom lead you easily up the oak staircase to the second floor where he pushed you inside what seemed to be a supply closet. A large supply closet mainly filled with old board games but still a simple closet.
“What was that paper you were so quick to hide?”
You tugged it out of your pocket and unfolded it, smoothing the creases so you could read the context better.
Asset protection is important for any and every company.                       X.
“This one doesn’t even make sense! How do you go from a direct attack on me to this- this load of shit!”
“Well, in my eyes a person who won’t make a better effort to threaten you or do it in a more accurate way is a piece of shit,” Ransom’s eyes skimmed over the paper, “But this time, it’s remarkably true. My parents admire your hard work for them, so you are an asset in a way.”
You felt fear knot up in your stomach, you couldn’t understand what someone could have against you. In every aspect, you were an honorable citizen who made a fair living. It just didn’t add up, “Where’s the guest room? I need to sleep.”
“Right, but I’m going to show you a different way into the guest room,” He grabbed your hand before leading you across the hall into another bedroom. The pair of you crept into the closet and Ransom kicked a panel in the wall. A door quickly slid open and the pair of you made your way up a little staircase, “Harlon just loved his hiding places”
“Ransom. If I’m in potential danger? What do I do? I don’t have to first clue in-
“Well, first of all, don’t be so damn trusting. It makes you an easier target. Second of all, find somewhere or someone you can stay with that you could seek comfort and safety in, at least until you feel safe.”
Both of you came to a stop as you made it to a small door. But a little idea popped into your head, “Well, could I stay in that big house of yours? I don’t have any family here and I refuse to go bankrupt in a motel room because of a potential stalker. I know it might be strange given our past flirtations, but I-”
“Wait, are you saying you want to move in with me?”
“Not really, move in. That would mean something completely different and- and completely out of the question because of my position in your moth-”
“It’s okay, sweetheart. You can stay with me. It’ll be nice to have a welcomed guest around,” Ransom pushed open the door and emerged into the guest which felt like a victorian guest suite set up, “and that’s why we came in through the back”
In the front of the door was tripwire for a possible trap unseen, but just the thought stirred you in unpleasant ways. Ransom searched the room before finding three darts ready to fire at any notice, “I’m really looking like a good guy, stopping any threats before they happen.”
“Yeah, it’s almost out of character,” You grabbed the glass of water by the nightstand.
Quickly, Ransom snatched the water from your hand, leaving you shaking, “Niether of us brought a glass up with us and I’m not going to have a repeated visit to the hospital to be asked if I gave you a date rape drug.”
He entered the attached bathroom and poured its’ contents in the sink while you sat yourself upon the bed. Thinking of the events from today. Shakily, you looked up to Ransom, “I don’t know what I’m going to do. I haven’t done anything. I-”
“Maybe someone is trying to get your attention,” He sat beside you and took your left hand into his right, using his thumb to caress the gentle skin, “And you still have me, though this is too far outside my comfort zone with any woman. If we’re going to keep ending up in life-or-death situations, trust that I will save you every single time.”
“Thank you, Ransom. For offering your assistance. For making sure I don’t get myself hurt. For not being a huge dick to me also,” you laughed.
“Well, what’s my mother’s is mine, and I happen to like her little personal assist,” before he stood from the bed, he gave your knuckles a strangely gentle kiss, “good night, (Y/N). I’ll see you at Breakfast”
Everything blurred, including Ransom’s exit, as you feel into a soft slumber.

“Our parents are coming to visit next week.”
Tasha let the sentence fall from her lips like an observation about the weather and not a random declaration in the middle of weeknight dinner. Chadwick sat beside her on the couch, eyes trained on the television before turning his head for a view of the side of her face. Even in her profile he saw embers of worry smoldering behind her eyes. Chadwick quickly chewed the last bits of black beans in his mouth to answer.
“What?”
“Our parents,” she repeated, finally looking over at him. “They’re coming to visit next week.”
“Our parents? As in just your parents or -.”
“Both sets. Yours and mine. They are going to be in this house next weekend under the impression that we haven’t talked in years when we’ve been playing house for almost two months.”
“Yeah, so,” Chadwick added, not seeing the issue. “We’re grown. Shit happens.”
“My parents think that I’m getting married next fall, Chadwick. They think I’m still with Elijah.”
Chadwick stopped chewing to cough up pieces of rice that had shot to the back of his throat in surprise. “Shit.” He paused to gather himself as Tasha leaned forward to rest her forehead in her hands. “Okay, that explains your folks. How are mine involved?”
“My mama took it upon herself to contact your mama and, I think, they’re on a mission to help us reconnect like this is some family drama or something.” Tasha kept her lead low while her fingers placed air quotes around reconnect. A split second of silence hung in the air until quiet snickering caught her attention. “I’m glad you think this is so funny.”
“It’s too ridiculous not to laugh, baby.” Chadwick fought to stifle laughter as he watched Tasha stand and stomp off toward the kitchen. He hadn’t intended to belittle her feelings, but he wasn’t sure how to process the information. “C’mon, T. I’m sorry!”
In their shared haste to explore a new chapter of their relationship, neither Tasha or Chadwick had alerted their families and friends. Sure, a few people had made assumptions, but nothing that they speculated equaled solid proof. To call the lack of information a secret was too harsh. They preferred the term oversight. But now, with a visit from their families looming, the new couple needed a plan that included cleaning up said oversight without admitting to what would surely be seen as an outright lie.
Tasha stood in the kitchen angrily scrubbing at an empty sauce pot when Chadwick walked in and leaned on the counter beside the sink. He watched with a fond smile for a moment before reaching to grab her wrists and pull her close.
“Hey, look at me,” Chadwick requested, taking Tasha’s chin between his thumb and index finger. Hip lips pressed gentle kisses on her nose and mouth until she relented and returned his affection. “We’ll be okay.”
“You say that like you have a plan.”
Chadwick smiled and pecked Tasha’s lips. “I always have a plan, baby.”
To Chadwick the solution was simple: play along with their parents and finish the long weekend without giving up more information than was necessary. If their mothers wanted to believe they’d done a good deed, let them.
Together, they spent days fine tuning their deceit. Tasha made sure to remove any trace of her existence from Chadwick’s house, scouring the home for an out of place pair of heels or a wayward piece of mail in her name. Chadwick crafted an intricate script with details so precise that CoCo had begun to believe their lie.
The night before mom-eggedon, as Tasha had named their arrival, the couple lay tangled in bed tightening their story.
“So, we’ll have to delete each other’s number for this to work. It’ll look weird if my name pops up in your contacts.”
“How would they even see? I’ll go to another room.”
“That looks suspicious. You have to make the call in front of her.”
“Okay,” Tasha agreed, sighing as she scrolled through her contacts and reluctantly removed Chadwick’s number. “What else?”
“Make sure to grab your bonnet and headscarf before you leave in the morning. Or I can stash them in my drawer. Let me know.”
“You pick. I... need a break.”
Tasha’s sudden bout of anxiety was enough to end any and all conversation that night. She has resigned to the notion that she would have to come clean the minute her parents stepped off of the arrivals sidewalk and slid into the backseat of her car. Still, she was careful to use her best poker face in the off chance that she was home free. Chadwick didn’t share her worries, but he empathized. His parents weren’t nearly as invested in his personal life. He wasn’t the one due to be married in a year’s time.
Sun beat down on Tasha through the windshield of her car while she anxiously glanced in her rearview mirror for any sight of her parents. She hadn’t slept the night before and slipped out of Chadwick’s bed early to avoid any talk of the weekend. In her mind, if she left without speaking to her boyfriend, she could easily forget their connection. She was wrong. All she could think about was ringing his line for another dose of reassurance.
Tasha’s eyes followed a parking official making stops at each car along the curb, silently praying that her parents would emerge from the building before she was handed a ticket.
“Come on, come on,” she whispered, hoping she could will them outside. Her fingernails tapped nervously on the dash until, finally, she caught a glimpse of her mother’s traveling hat moving toward the sidewalk. She bounded from the driver’s side in a single motion and waved her hands for their attention.
“Mom! Dad! Over here!”
“My baby!” Elaine was the first to greet her oldest daughter, leaving Gerald to grab her rolling luggage and haul it to the car.
Tasha smiled as her mother pulled into a hug way too tight for her tense body. “Hey, mama. You travel safe?”
“As safe as I could, child. Your daddy complained the whole time, but we’re here now.”
“Set your old man up with first class tickets next time, Pumpkin. I need some room for these knees.”
“I’m sorry, Dad. I’ll upgrade you for the flight back. Let me grab those.”
Gerald tried to wave Tasha off, but he was too slow. Tasha had already started to channel her nervous energy into overextending her hospitality. Every question was answered with an uncharacteristic amount of enthusiasm. Neither of her parents noticed as they marveled at sights and sounds of Los Angeles. They sat with their faces nearly pressed against the car windows, rattling off questions and observations about the state of the city. Complaints about the traffic earned a laugh that was too loud for the conversation and a shared look of concern between Gerald and Elaine.
“So, how is Elijah,” Elaine asked, looking at Tasha through the rearview mirror with a smile. “We haven’t heard from or about him in about a month. Is he okay?”
Tasha’s foot stuttered on the break as she pulled into her driveway, making the car jerk in response. She took a breath and rolled her shoulders back before answering.
“He’s fine, I suppose. We... aren’t together anymore.”  Tasha’s jaw clenched at the admission and shook her head. She hadn’t said the words aloud yet.
“Oh, baby, I’m sorry to hear that.”
“He wasn’t good enough for you anyway, Pumpkin. His ears were too big to have nothing in between ‘em.”
Tasha chuckled as she shut off the engine and opened the driver’s side door. “Thanks, Pop.”
“I agree with your father. Now, you have more time to wait on the man that’s supposed to court you, not the other way around. You know, I know a guy.”
“Mhmm,” Tasha mumbled. “Here, let me help with that.”
Gerald stopped pulling suitcases from the trunk and kindly pushed his daughter’s hand away. “I got it, Pumpkin. Take your mama inside. She’s been dying to see your house.”
Tasha laughed at her father’s thinly veiled plea for alone time before ushering her mother into her home. Elaine stepped into the foyer and paused, taking a long look at her surroundings. Beside the door, a basketball rested by a black duffle bag.
“You’re playing basketball again,” she questioned.
“Every once in a while I play with the girls as the facility. No big deal.”
Elaine took another look at the oversized sweatshirt barely hanging out of the bag. “Hm.”
Before Tasha could address Elaine’s non-verbal judgement, her mother had moved on to the living room. Elaine stopped to examine photos and sculptures carefully placed on each surface, finding many of them to have ties back to home or family. Her fingers ghosted over awards from her daughter’s time away from home and she smiled. If Elaine was nothing else, she was proud of Tasha.
While she listened to her husband and daughter wrestle luggage into the house, Elaine carefully took a seat on the large sectional to rest her aching legs. The way she flopped against the plush piece of furniture surprised Elaine, making her giggle but stop when she got a whiff of the air around her. Beside her head lay a dark fleece blanket and she took a deep inhale to place it as a source of the masculine smell.
“This is a nice blanket, Nicole,” she complimented. “It looks warm.”
“It is. Got it on a trip back from Connecticut last year. Great naps have been taken under that thing.”
What Tasha thought as a random fun fact about her favorite blanket made her mother smirk with realization. She knew the smell of a gentleman caller when she encountered one. Though the information wasn’t enough to stop the plan she had in motion, she felt a strange comfort in knowing that Tasha was living a life that pleased her, something Elaine had drilled into her and her sister’s head since their pre-teen years.
“Dad, you want a drink. I have this expensive artisan beer that Ch... a friend left over. When they visited. A friend.”
Tasha stilled to slow her rapidly beating heart at her near mistake. Neither of her parents had seemed to notice and, for that, she was silently grateful.
“My girl is drinking beer now,” Gerald questioned with a wide smile. “Becoming just like your old man.”
“Yeah, well, I dabble. Gotta keep up with the white boys at the Lakers game.”
“Atta, girl. Beat ‘em at their own game. C’mon, show me.”
On one side of town, Tasha busied herself with introducing her parents to the wonders of pale ales and stouts, while on the other, Chadwick emptied grocery bags filled to brim with dinner ingredients. He spent much of the process silently scolding his parents for placing items in areas he knew CoCo wouldn’t enjoy. When his mother moved to place the entire jug of orange juice in the door of the refrigerator, Chadwick couldn’t resist the urge to stop her.
“Actually,” he started, intercepting her before she could place the jug. “I have some pitchers you can empty that into. They’re nice, I promise.”
His mother eyed him as he retrieved a monogrammed pitcher from the cabinet and rinsed it in the sink. The last time she’d visited, he barely had food in the refrigerator. Now, he had specialized pitchers for juice.
“Where did those come from?” Carol asked, trying to get a better look at the glassware.
“Crate and Barrel. I went with a friend a couple weeks ago and they suggested them.” Unlike Tasha, Chadwick had a solid grasp on his lines and practice keeping secrets.
“Hm. This friend suggest those vanilla candles in the living room, too?”
“Those were a gift. Want one? I have a few more in the linen closet.”
“No, I’m alright. Just... noticing some changes.”
“Like what?” Chadwick asked as he stashed breakfast meat in the refrigerator drawer.
“You live alone now. That’s new.”
Chadwick shrugged, seemingly unphased. “It’s been a couple of weeks. The split was mutual. We’re on better terms these days.”
That was an assumption on his part. Chadwick didn’t know the status of his friendship with Charmaine, but he harbored no ill will. Carol opened her mouth to speak but was cut off by her husband walking into the kitchen with a big smile.
“Hell of theater you got back there son. I bet the big game looked good on that big ‘ole screen.”
“Wanna try it out? I think the playoffs start tonight.”
“What about dinner?” Carol asked.
“We’ll eat early. It’s just us right?”
Chadwick tried to avert his gaze once his mother started to look between him and his father. He didn’t want to let on that he knew more than she had shared.
“Well, that’s what I wanted to talk about. You remember Tasha, right?”
“She was my best friend, ma,” Chadwick laughed. “Of course I remember her.”
“I know, I know. But did you know she lived here now?”
“She mentioned it when she sent a gift for the movie.”
“So, you two talk again?”
“We’ve talked once or twice.”
“Have you met up?”
“No.” Chadwick answered, keeping his voice flat to appear neutral. Carol smiled in a way that indicated she had information to share. Chadwick allowed the charade to continue.
“Well, I heard from a little birdie that her parents are also in town this weekend. Maybe you should invite them over.”
“Ma, I don’t know if we’re back on those terms yet. It’s been a while.”
“I know,” Carol answered, drawing out ‘know’ as she took steps toward Chadwick. She latched onto his arm and smiled up at her son. “But, what if she stopped by? Just for dinner?”
Chadwick looked between his parents, paying special attention to his father’s grin. He’d never known his dad to be invested in his private life, but there was always spark behind his eyes when Tasha was involved.
Finally, Chadwick pretended to relent.
“Alright, ma. I don’t have her number, though. How will I call?”
Carol clapped her hands like a giddy child and started a search for her phone. “Don’t you worry your head, boy. I have her number right here.” She extended her arm toward his face. “Go on. Call her. I wanna hear you.”
Chadwick felt his body tense and mind begin to scramble for a response. He had expected to make the call when a moment of solitude presented itself. Now, he was forced to go off script and risk throwing Tasha off balance. On a whim, he decided to grab his mother’s phone to make the call.
The phone rang once, and then a third time before Tasha answered.
“Hello?” she answered with a genuine question thick in her tone.
“Hey, Tasha. It’s me...Chadwick.”
Everyone listened as the sounds in the background became louder before CoCo responded. “Hey, Chad. I have you on speaker. My parents are here.”
“Hi, Chadwick!”
“How ya doin’, son!”
Both Tasha and Chadwick chuckled at her parents' excitement.
“I’m good. Good to hear from y’all. Welcome to LA.” Chadwick listened to Elaine and Gerald share various versions of thank you before continuing. “Hey, so, funny thing...my parents are here too.”
“Oh really? Give them my love. I know they miss me.”
“We miss you so much, sweetie! Why don’t you come eat dinner with us tonight.”
Chadwick chuckled at his mother’s excitement, “That was my line. She beat me to it, but the invite stands. We’d be happy to have y’all over.”
“We’ll be there!”
“Ma!” Tasha and her mother argued in hushed whispers on the other line, nearly making Chadwick forget that the whole conversation was a carefully planned charade. “I guess we’ll be there. You’ll send the address?”
As if she needed it. “Sure. You’ll get it from another number, okay?”
He wasn’t sure why, but Chadwick felt butterflies flutter in the pit of his belly as if this were truly the first time he was seeing the love of his life. He welcomed the feeling and smiled on the other end, making his parents join in on his happiness.
“Great. See you soon,” Tasha answered, a hint of smile in her voice to match Chadwick’s.
They hung up with promises to text for more details and inside jokes that made only them laugh. With a few white lies, they had tricked their parents, and nearly themselves, into believing they were set to embark on a glorious reunion between college friends.
Tasha spent hours rifling through what little clothing she still had at her condo, tossing outfit after outfit onto her bedroom floor until she came up with something she felt would catch her man’s eye.
Across town, Chadwick and his mother arranged and rearranged the dining table dishes to ensure that he was putting forth the best “first” impression. They settled on elegant china that Chadwick felt was a bit too formal for the occasion, but he let it stand. At the very least the flatware would impress Tasha’s parents.
As Tasha drove through Chadwick’s neighborhood, she made sure to maintain a facade of discovery. She didn’t take the normal shortcuts or skip the growing pothole on the street that tormented her each day on the way home from work. She pretended to be surprised at the ornate sculptures crafted from bushes at a nearby house and the amount of expensive cars in the driveways they passed.
“The boy is doing well for himself,” Gerald commented from the backseat.
“Very well. But, we always knew it’d be like this. Chadwick was destined to be big.”
Elaine spoke about Chadwick as if he was some utra celebrity and not the same kid that she had to constantly remind to slow down while he ate so that he wouldn’t choke on his food.
Tasha laughed as she pulled into his driveway. “He’s a movie star. It’s to be expected.”
One by one, the Greene family stepped out of the car into the crisp, early Spring air and started up the short driveway toward the door. Tasha hung back and examined the house from the outside, admiring how the two potted plants they’d placed on the porch were starting to go into one another like their namesakes.
Gerald rapped his knuckles against the door several times before Elaine scolded him for being rude as she pressed the doorbell. When Tasha caught up to her parents, the door opened and sent light from the inside spilling onto the front porch. Chadwick popped out of the house with his arms open wide.
“Family!”
He gripped Tasha’s parents into tight hugs, sharing familiar pleasantries as he welcomed them into his home. Elaine stuttered when it was her turn to embrace, taking a deep whiff of Chadwick’s shoulder and feeling transported to a moment earlier in the day. She kept quiet, but took note of his hug with Tasha as he moved on to greet the other members of the household. Elaine noticed the way he seemed to hug her like a man familiar with the curvature of his lover’s body and shared a look with Carol that spoke louder than words.
As a unit, they quickly fell back into familiar behaviors, catching each other up with life’s happenings and new discoveries. On the far end of Chadwick’s sectional, he and Tasha sat close enough to share side conversations that only they could hear.
“Just like old times,” Lawrence, Chadwick’s father, commented over his glass of water. “You two haven’t changed in over 20 years.”
“What you mean, dad? We’re just over here talking.”
“That ain’t just talking,” Gerald chimed in. “Y’all always had your little secret language.”
“And a knack for keeping each other’s secrets.”
Tasha looked over at Elaine who sat with a knowing smirk on her face that unsettled her daughter. Chadwick easily maintained his cool as he sipped from his wine glass.
“That’s how it goes when you’ve been friends this long. We are still friends, right?”
Tasha felt her cheeks become warm through her bashful smile. “Of course. Always.”
Both sets of parents looked on with fond smiles while their kids shared a moment of rekindling a little more than longtime friendship. Elaine and Carol exchanged winks to congratulate each other on a job well done.
“Well isn’t that sweet,” Carol spoke after clearing her throat. “But, I think the roast is done. Can we move this moment to the dining room?”
“Yeah, sure. Tasha, can you help mama in the kitchen? You need help right, mama?”
“I’ll take it wherever I can get it,” she laughed.
“Now, you know you don’t ever have to ask me for help. I’m right behind you.”
The group quickly dispersed to different corners of the house, leaving Tasha and Carol to explore Chadwick’s kitchen on their own. Tasha took it upon herself to reach into the drawer beside the stove and grab pot holders. Carol watched her move around the space as if she had been there a thousand times.
“Did you say you’ve visited Chad before?”
Tasha looked back as she opened the stove and shook her head. “No, ma’am. This is my first time.”
“Hm. Okay.” She continued to watch Tasha carefully slide the roast out of the oven and close the door with her hip. When Tasha turned around, Carol tried to recover a moment too late. Tasha smiled nervously.
“Is something wrong?”
“No,” Carol quickly answered. “I just...I thought...it doesn’t matter. I’ll grab another bottle of wine and meet you in the dining room.”
Carol’s pivot seemed to do the trick once Tasha carried the main dish to the dining room. Chadwick sat at the end of the table with a mixed look of boredom and relief once Tasha entered the room. He sprung up to retrieve the dish from her hands, but Tasha gripped his hands to stop him.
“Your mom is being weird,” Tasha whispered.
“Your’s too. She noticed that bottle of air freshener you always spray in here and asked where it came from.”
“What is she a fuckin’ bloodhound?”
“She is you,” Chadwick laughed. “I think I got us out of it, but be careful.”
Carol’s entrance forced the pair to separate and pretend to focus on different tasks. She eyed their charade for a moment before looking over to Elaine and their aloof husbands solely focused on dinner.
She took a seat beside Lawrence just as Tasha settled in next to Chadwick while trying to avoid eye contact.
“So, who’s going to say the blessing? Tasha?”
Tasha’s eyes grew wide, “Oh, I’m probably not the best person. You know how I am with words and this isn’t my house anyway. How about Chad?”
“Uh, sure. Everybody bow your heads.” Tasha squeezed Chadwick’s hand as a silent thanks and clamped her eyes shut to avoid the daggers he sent in her direction. Chadwick took a deep breath in search of words to fit the occasion. “Lord, thank you for bringing us together again tonight. Especially Tasha and I as long time friends. We-”
“Hope that you will use all of us to tell the truth about our love for one another. Please, don’t let this night pass without every feeling and overlooked detail put on the table. It’d be a shame for us to leave here holding on to what you put on our hearts to share.”
Amens, both genuine and forced, sounded around the table to signal the end of Elaine’s awkward prayer. The group sat in silence while scooping food onto their plates. Tasha and Chadwick attempted to remain inconspicuous.
“Chadwick, how’s Hollywood treating you,” Gerald asked between bites of food.
“Ah, you know how it goes out here. I go to work, come home and avoid all that foolishness in between. The pay is good though. I can’t lie about that.”
“You better be avoiding the foolishness. Tasha, now that you’re here, keep my boy straight.”
“Yes, sir,” Tasha laughed. “If I’m not good at anything else, I’m good at bossing him around.”
“Did Tasha tell you that she’s single now?”
“Ma! We literally just got here. When would I have had time to share that?” Tasha shot her mother a glare across the table and received a shrug in return.
“I only asked a question. Are you single Chad?”
Chadwick chuckled as he slipped his hand under the table and gripped Tasha’s thigh. “No, I didn’t know she was single and, yes, I am recently single. The last relationship didn’t workout quite the way she hoped.”
“Sounds like you two have something in common.”
“Oh you and what’s his name aren’t together?”
Tasha caught Chadwick’s obvious sarcasm and brushed his hand off her leg. He continued to laugh at her expense, leaving no room for her to unleash her frustration beyond a curt smile.
“You know his name, Aaron. And, no, we are not. That is my business to keep to myself.”
“Alright,” Chadwick answered. “Maybe I can hook you up with one of my actor friends. I hear Anthony Mackie is looking for someone your type.”
“I’ll pass. Actors aren’t my thing.”
“Hm. That’s not what I heard.”
Chadwick jokingly nudged Tasha’s shoulder, garnering a look from Elaine and Carol.
“What did you hear,” Carol asked. “Don’t the kids say something about the tea?”
“Nothing. Chadwick hasn’t heard a thing but a seminar on how to still be annoying after 20 years.”
He laughed and wiped his mouth. “I’m pretty good at it, too. You look a little flushed, though. Want more wine?”
A simple diversion pushed the conversation into talks of wine tasting and how to pair reds and whites, effectively ending all relationship talk for a stretch. Underneath the table, Tasha and Chadwick took turns letting their hands wander. The cat and mouse game quickly grew inappropriate with fingers buried between thighs and palms gripping sacred parts over thick denim fabric. Their parents enjoyed helping after helping of food until each person was stuffed and nearly falling out of their seats. Lawrence, however, wasn’t done.
“I could go for some dessert,” he mentioned during a lull in the conversation. “What we got in the kitchen?”
“Mama, you got that cheesecake I ordered, right? Tasha, wanna help me grab it.” Chadwick had been thinking about a way to briefly separate from the group to sneak a kiss or a hug and, finally, he’d found an out.
Tasha peeped the hint of demand in his voice and nodded. “For sure. You know you have butter fingers anyway. We’ll be right back.”
The pair didn’t give their parents time to reject the offer before they scurried out of the room. When they made it into the kitchen undetected, Tasha pulled Chadwick into a searing kiss. He chuckled against her lips while fondling her backside.
“Your joke was not funny,” Tasha mumbled before breaking the kiss. “Mackie? Really?”
“Gotta make it realistic, baby. You handled it like a champ.”
“Mhmm. Next time, I’m coming with jokes about your relationship.”
Chadwick allowed Tasha to slip from his grip and head to the refrigerator. He watched her hips sway for a second before reaching into the cabinet to grab dessert plates.
“Which ones do you usually use?”
“The white marble. Grab the gold forks to match the decor. You did a good setting it up by yourself.”
“Do you know how hard it was to keep my mama from moving stuff around?”
“Probably as hard as it was to keep mine out of my office. Why can’t they be like our dad’s?”
“Because then we wouldn’t love them as much,” he added. “Only a couple more days of this and then I can have you back in here with my shirts on.”
“Oh, so, we aren’t meeting up for some car sex tomorrow.”
Tasha stepped closer as Chadwick lifted a brow and watched her beneath hooded lids. “Don’t tempt me, baby.”
“Now, Aaron. You know that ain’t my style. I’ll call you. We’ll call it lunch.” Balancing the tray of cheesecake in one hand, Tasha pressed a quick kiss against Chadwick’s lips before turning to leave the kitchen.
“Who wants cheesecake,” he hollered as he followed Tasha back into the dining room with a smile.
Both sets of parents watched the couple attempt to pass out slices without bumping into each other, taking note of the clear gloss making Chadwick’s lips shine. Lawrence tried to send messages to his son to wipe his mouth but all of them went unnoticed. Elaine and Carol shared smiles while Gerald stifled a laugh.
After passing out each piece of cake, Tasha and Chadwick took their seats and found all eyes on them.
“What,” Chadwick asked as he stabbed a fork into his cheesecake.
Lawrence cleared his throat. “I think you have something you need to share, son.”
“Like what?”
“Maybe Tasha will know,” Elaine added. Tasha forced a laugh and smiled.
“I don’t even know what’s going on right now. What are you talking about?”
“How about you start with how long you and Chadwick have been seeing each other. And be honest this time, Pumpkin.”
Tasha and Chadwick froze. In the mirror above his parent’s head and noticed the evidence of their secret still on his lips. There was no sense in preserving the farce. They were caught red handed. So, he smiled and shook his head. Tasha finally relented with a hearty laugh.
“When did you know, mama?”
“Child, as soon as I smelled man on your couch and hugged this one at the door. You have to be smarter than that.”
Carol chimed in and pointed at Tasha, “And this one went in the kitchen and started pulling things out of the drawer like she owned the place.”
“You don’t think we noticed the glassware in the fridge? You drink orange juice out of the carton and now all of a sudden there’s pitchers all over the place.”
“Since when do you drink beer, Pumpkin. I knew you either had a boyfriend or you were going through a midlife crisis like your mama when she only drank martinis for a year.”
Chadwick and Tasha listen to all the places they had neglected tiny details, feeling slightly foolish that they’d tried to pull the wool over the eyes of the people that knew them best.
“Okay, you got us,” Chadwick admitted. “This was all Tasha’s idea. I wanted to tell y’all right away. It’s been almost two months of this lie she made me tell.”
“Oh, hush! I just figured we would tell you when we were ready. Well, when I was ready. I’m sorry, y’all.”
“It’s okay, sweetheart,” Carol answered.
“This just gives us more time for planning.”
Tasha raised an eyebrow while leaning into Chadwick’s side. “Planning what?”
“The wedding of course,” Elaine exclaimed. Tasha’s groan became covered by Chadwick’s boisterous laughter.
“Lay ‘em on me, Ms. Greene. What you thinking?”
“How do feel about a rustic wedding, Ooh ooh, let me go grab my phone. Did I tell you I have a Pinterest now?”
