Lister: You know, it's at times like this when I'm stuck in a GELF airlock with a hologram of a man from Io, about to die of asphyxiation in deep space, that I really wish I listened to what my mum told me when I was young.
Rimmer: Why? What did she tell you?
Lister: I DON'T KNOW, I DIDN'T LISTEN!
Rimmer: Terrific.

Just some things I think deserve a super accurate movie/show adaption in a beautiful 2D animation style:
The How to Train Your Dragon series
Gregor the Overlander
Artemis Fowl
The Adventure Zone
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (fr so much was left out of the 1939 film!)
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass
The actual Little Mermaid story (there are a ton of adaptations I haven't seen yet so maybe it exists somewhere but we all know Disney’s didn’t even come close)

hitchhiker's guide community i have a really specific question so what shade is the orange presidential sash to you? i recently realized it's a very specific color and look to me and has been since i was young reading the book for the first time - something like this but with a satiny sheen that brings out more variation in hue

Dad: Has (Bro’s Girlfriend) seen Jupiter Ascending yet?
Bro: I don’t believe she has.
Dad: You two should watch it, it’s bonkers in the best way. It’s the Wachowskis, it’s a lot of fun
Bro: Is that the one where Channing Tatum -
Me and Dad: Yes.
Dad: And Sean Bean’s in it and he doesn’t die!
Bro: That was my next question! (And presumably the one immediately after it.)

Happy Towel Day!
Towel Day is celebrated every year on May 25th in honor of the author Douglas Adams (1952-2001).
I was introduced to the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series when I was a teenager. I owned the books for a long time before I finally read them, but once I did, I was sorry I had put it off. I finished the series as an angry teenager trapped on a farm in Ohio--I was a city girl at the time, unappreciative of the great outdoors, and the books were my only solace. They made me laugh so much. I remember re-reading them in high school and bursting out laughing in the middle of math class when Zaphod told everyone that Marvin called to wash his head at them and sad little burbles came down the line. (The same thing happened, I believe, with the conversation about “Eddies in the space-time continuum.”)
If for some reason you’ve never had the pleasure of reading the Hitchhiker’s Guide series, I greatly recommend it. Douglas Adams also wrote a ton of other things; you can find out more on his Wikipedia page.
And now for some shameless self-promotion. Here’s a fic I wrote back in 2009:
Thursday by K.H. Ivywater
Pairing: Arthur Dent/Ford Prefect
Rating: Teen & Up Audiences
Length: 1,717 words
Summary: Begins during the end of chapter 31 when they're on Magrathea. Arthur informs everyone he didn't ask to be there.
Excerpt:
Across the ship, Arthur carried a glass of perfectly normal water into his room with grim determination. He was, as they say, a man on a mission.
A plant on his windowsill that he had taken a distinct liking to had been wilting over the past few hours. His mission, as it were, was to save it.
He tilted the glass, splashing water over the orange blossoms for the second time that day.
The unimpressed plant promptly withered and died.
Arthur gaped. Arthur goggled. Then the door to his quarters sighed with pleasure, which Arthur thought was a thoroughly inappropriate response to the situation.
Read on AO3.
