The Gregory Takes speak to my soul. It's just another symptom of where the confusing lore has gotten us. He might just not be human even though it has no relevance to his role in game. This is not helped by the vague canoninity of the books. The mimic is 100% canon now, but other parts probably aren't.

Is the Gregory who is implied to be killing people in GGY canon? Might be because the same series now has a character turned from a book exclusive character to a replacement for people disliking that Afton came back again.

And then there's Robot Theory, the thing that we have the Forth Closet to thank for. Ever since then, Robot Theory was looming, but now it is stuck, and there are people who really like it for some reason. Does anyone remember the Robot Bite Victim Michael Theory Matpat made? Cause believe me, this is not the first time he theorized about a humanoid robot

Call me cynical, but I absolutely hate this. And I don't doubt Steelwool will make these canon if it fits. It's about a 50/50 chance right now

Also yeesh on the Aang takes.

Propaganda why Aang is insufferable:

He has some very bad ideas that the narrative never explores and gets rewarded by the narrative for bad behavior.

Mostly just the way he deals with his crush on Katara and kind of forces it on her. It’s honestly really shitty because she never truly reciprocated his feelings and had plenty of moments where she shows she’s just trying not to hurt his feelings with a straight up rejection, but ends up with him in the end just because that’s what he wanted.

Like we know what it looks like when Katara actually has a crush on someone, she wouldn’t let the situation like the war affect how she feels about demonstrating those feelings when she’s so in touch with them. Like how she was with Jet and Haru. I just wish the writing team did a better job of showing Katara developing feelings for Aang way better than they did lol.

Made a series that was otherwise reasonably tolerable impossible to watch. I hate that all the jokes written for his character target 8-year-olds exclusively. Also his little TV show keeps appearing on my dash no matter how many words I block and I hate it

Propaganda why Gregory is insufferable:

This boy is so poorly written, it hurts. In the gameplay, he just acts annoyed and pissed off the whole time. Then, in the endings, he becomes a whole other character who acts scared and sad, which does not match the previous hours of gameplay AT ALL

But that just annoyed me

What really made me hate him was the GGY and Robot Gregory stuff, because OH NO, Gregory could not just be a normal kid who got into this situation by chance, he has to be a robotic recreation of the Crying Child, despite not acting one bit like CC, or, according to the GGY story in the books, he's responsible for multiple murders and is Afton's/the Mimic's apprentice.

Just let this kid be fucking normal!

(Also, unlike a lot of people, I really enjoy what the Ruin DLC did to his character. And don't try to say that's still the mimic, the mimic recycles dialog from the main game. This Gregory uses completely unique dialog, and unless the mimic was able to form new words in his voice all of a sudden, that's still him. He had to make a tough decision, one life or over hundreds and I can respect that)

Suffers from being made into another one of Matpat's ""is actually a robot theory"". It is annoying as hell, especially if its canon. We do not need robot children theories in a game about possession, child murder and serial killers. Especially not dumb theories about him being a 'recreation' of someone with a completely different personality. It has completely ruined any enjoyment I had in that character because we're just going back to the Afton family again

Someone made a good point about how his personality seems to be reminiscent of a certain trend where a video game protagonist has to be snarky even though it would’ve worked better for the horror atmosphere if he was more scared because it would’ve made the player feel his fear. I recall people being surprised about his personality and expecting him to be more scared, and I assume the developers were just afraid of ppl calling Gregory “whiny”, but it still feels like a missed opportunity

which of your favourite guys can you submit? what games, shows or other medias are out of the picture?

anti-heros/villains have a chance if you have a good reasoning for them to be included

no real people

i'd rather not include problematic media, but again, if you have a good reason they'll be considered

reformed villains only count if they were a villain for a majority of the time they appeared

stupid 'villain of the week' type characters can be included

twist villains are going to be avoided if they are a major spoiler for a big plot point of the media

Gregory House (House MD) vs Starscream (Transformers)

House

A medical genius, but when he's bored he ruins his own life, and he's ALWAYS bored.

Starscream

He's an egomaniac and he gets humbled constantly because his schemes to overthrow his boss never fucking work; he gets called a stiletto-wearing creep at some point in transformers prime, and he threw his boss out the window a few times. he's the smartest idiot and also he's killed many

He consistently attempts to overthrow Megatron and then gets beat up for it, but mainly I’m submitting him for what he does in the movie. Okay so Megatron is injured yeah. He and a bunch of other decepticons are traveling in a shuttle but they gotta get rid of some weight to go faster They toss out some of the more generic guys. And then Starscream somehow manages to convince everybody that he should throw Megs out too LATER Starscream is throwing himself a coronation and Megatron (now Galvatron) shows up and murders him Also he does become a ghost and then manages to trick Unicron (robot Satan) into making him a new body Transformers Prime he also manages to fuck up. He quit the Decepticons because Megs almost killed him because of a failed assassination attempt. Autobots end up finding him and are gonna give him a chance for redemption and whatnot. Arcee is the one guarding him. Arcee has lost two partners, one from Airachnid, second from Starscream. Starscream only knows about the one he killed, Arcee does not know that he killed him. They’re talking about their shared hatred for Airachnid and Arcee is like “she killed my partner” and Starscream, an absolute idiot, goes “SHES TAKING CREDIT FOR THAT NOW TOO?” Arcee almost kills him, he almost kills Arcee, gets away. Bro is now factionless Mostly submitting for the g1 stuff 👍 He is a horrid asshole and I love him very much; Starscream is consistently dealing with the consequences of his own actions Here he is, almost killing Megatron and becoming leader, then getting murdered by Megatron at his coronation https://youtu.be/qaNWmd_QyA0?si=CXpM1X5_j5g6ZacI He then becomes a ghost. Propaganda why Marinette Dupain-Cheng is insufferable:

She easily gets away with bad, stalkerish behavior, it always feels like she can ‘do no wrong’ unless the show wants us to pity her, and the show writers want us to think she is a quirky and socially awkward girl when throughout the series we see her be friends with basically everyone in Paris with many connections to high up places.

I get she has social anxiety but the way she goes about stalking Adrien is kind of the worst like she even has creep shots of him hanging in her room? That’s weird. I think Adrien’s going through enough without having to deal with the main character being his stalker lol. I know they’re (spoilers) at this point but in the beginning it was so sus

In the newest season, Marinette hides the fact that Hawkmoth was Adrien’s dad. This leads to the bastard getting a statue and honored as a hero after his death. Adrien now never gets to know the fact that his abusive and neglectful father was the one trying to kill him and is instead proud of him.

Her crush on Adrien is like a black hole for her character. Things she’s done because of it:

1) stolen property

2) ruined dates

3) humiliated other characters

4) has a chart of Adrien’s daily schedule for the next year in her room (this is stalking)

5) broke into his room and sniffed his pillow (also a crime)

6) sniffed, took the hair from, and tried to kiss what she thought was a wax statue of Adrien

7) convinced her parents to let her go to China. Why? Not because she wants to connect with her mother’s heritage, not even because she’s a budding fashion designer and Shanghai is considered a fashion hotspot. It’s because Adrien was there.

I started the show, watched one episode, and never tried again. I simply do not vibe with her.

Propaganda why Aelin Ashryver Galathynius is insufferable:

Your basic Mary Sue. Styled as the incredibly cool best-assassin in the land at only 18, she nevertheless is constantly snuck up upon, distracted by pretty boys, and possesses not an ounce of wit. In a competition between murderers and thieves to win a place as the King's Champion, she sees a bag of chocolates on her bed that she didn't put there and immediately starts eating it and gushing about how much she adores chocolate - nevermind that they just had a trial involving poison, which several of her competitors are adept at. She's always right, and other characters exist just to tell her how awesome and beautiful and wonderful she is. And then she turns out to be a super special magical fey princess!

I generally don't believe that a Mary Sue is a bad thing, but the only thing I remember about this book was how she had been in prison for years but was super young but was also still the most super-specialest assassin. And she kept reading when she should have been training or sleeping. Like, girl, this is not final exams where you can stay up all night and then roll into class in your pajamas and still squeak out a C. It's supposed to be life and death. Her character traits didn't make her relatable, they made her a moron
