I'm really concerned about old xian's health. Sitting behind a computer for long period of times can cause serious damage to your body especially your neck, back, shoulder and wrist. And many comic artists and mangakas are suffering from it after drawing for many years and old xian has been drawing for more than 7 years. I remember they used to update every seven days and more regularly, but now they're taking longer breaks, and it's taking a longer time to get a new update, and recently it seems like old xian takes a break after updating two chapters.
I hope old xian take break as much as they need, I don't want them to hospitalized from over work😥🙏🏻

oh right!
Okay, so the REASON I went the expo yesterday, when we weren't planning on it previously because it is Distant, is because my friend that takes me had to exchange some caging, and the crafters were going to be at the show, so why not vend as long as we're out there if we're driving 2+ hours each way anyway. So we vend the show, it goes well, we have fun, everyone's packing up... except the vendor she's exchanging caging with, who tell her they're going to be at least another hour packing up etc and also they don't have the cages with them, we'll have to drive to their brick and mortar shop.
Well, whatever, that means we can go grab some food. We look up sushi places, grab the first/closest one, and drive out. GPS takes us to a mexican restaurant. we fiddle with the GPS and when swapped to "walking" it tells us actually it's across the street. We can't see across the street because of trees, so we drive across the street, and there's a Mall. Like a legit, old mall- and I realize with a bit of dawning horror that I KNOW this mall, it was built a couple of years before I went to college, it was shiny and new when I first visited it, we used to come here often. I did not recognize it because it looked like it at been through some kind of apocalypse. So I turn to my friend and say, we have a choice, we either go in and get Mall Sushi from a food court, or we pick someplace else. She stops her car in the middle of a road, not a parking spot, and we both look at the list of sushi places nearby. I see one just plainly called "sushi market" and it looks normal and there's a picture of its storefront indicating it is, perhaps, not Mall Food Court Sushi, and we take off.
I am expecting a Hole In The Wall sort of strip mall place like the two near my childhood home, but instead we enter The City.
The City, if you do not know, is the same place. You enter into it and you may or may not have been to this city before but you have been to The City and it all looks the same, really. The shops maybe have different names, but it's unclear if that is because time has passed and the coral reef of storefronts has grown/exchanged inhabitants or if this is a different place entirely and actually it doesn't matter. Which street you entered from may determine which stores you see, but you are always entering The City.
This place we are going is a hundred yards outside of The City, and looks like it. It is the same 100 yards outside of The City that exists down by my little sister. If the air had tasted a little different, I would have told you for sure I was in North Carolina visiting my sister, not a little bit lost in northwestern Michigan. We park in a little street parking place and look around hesitantly. There's a storefront for a bagel shop. There's a storefront for a local barbeque (local to ME, not this place, or at least I thought that was the case until I looked it up at home.... they don't have a shop local to me. I have eaten there a dozen times, at work, with others. it does not exist near me. this is how The City works though, sometimes you have to accept that). The parking lot is almost empty. The street is vacant. it's quiet. Nothing is happening in this location. The building indicated is unmarked, plain brick. No windows except at the bagel shop and barbeque's storefront windows. They do not have doors of their own, only a set of unmarked, double doors between them.
But, the GPS insists it is here, so we go through those blank doors, and step into an Otherworld. Inside, is a busy marketplace.
The floors are all dark, smooth concrete. Above is all grubby, teal-grey steel and wood, the walls are covered in bright-colored artwork. There are stalls that don't look permanent fashioning the interior into a maze. This is the bible belt of michigan. There's Thai food, sushi, a mochi donut shop. There's a stall devoted to popcorns, both in different flavors but also from specialty kinds of kernels. There's a wall of soda in glass bottles from companies I've never heard of. There were four shelves devoted to black cherry sodas. Floor to ceiling shelves of ginger beer, birch beer, root beer. There's a pastry shop around a corner where I stood and watched someone slicing a cheesecake six inches tall, decorated in strawberries like a painting. We pass a charcuterie shop to reach a wine and cheese bar, which is across from a seafood shop peddling fresh catch from the great lakes, which is next to a deli of local meats, across from a shop exclusively dedicated to seasoning rubs for meat. Tucked into a back corner is a chocolaterie selling bonbons and hand scooped michigan-made ice cream. There's some kind of reunion taking place up at the front of the place. There are old ladies buying popcorn. There's a guy looking at the soda walls, dressed like it's 3am and he couldn't sleep.
The place is packed, but there's hardly any cars in the parking lot so I have to assume people walked here. We dodge people and make it to the sushi counter, where we are greeted by a young woman who has sparkles glittering across the bridge of her nose instead of freckles. She takes our order and welcomes us to sit at the bartop to eat (we don't), and we find a quiet corner to sit and eat. It was the best sushi I've had in my life- the rice was actual sushi rice which is a good start, it was slightly warm still, it was melt-in-your-mouth good. We stopped by the chocolaterie to get a small scoop of ice cream (cashew caramel) and a couple of chocolates to bring home. They're tiny, with local strawberry/cherry fruits, with little things painted on their tops. They were delicious.
My friend took photos of some of the inside of the place. I don't know if she waited for the right moments or what, but there's almost no people in her photos. I cannot express to you enough that this place was FULL. I waited in lines to get food. That's me at the chocolate/ice cream shop counter and there were several people in front of me in line.
There was a second story we didn't make it to, because we had to leave to go get the caging. We exited back to a normal Michigan spring a hundred yards outside The City. The parking lot was mostly empty. The building was plain brick. There was no one on the street. The bagel shop and the barbeque storefronts had no people past the windows. There was no storefront for the sushi shop, because it was in the very heart of the place, it shared no walls with the building walls at all, there was no door to it.

Dawn.
I’ve really enjoyed her character. This episode showed us a lot more about her, got to see her more as just how she was first portrayed. I’m so glad she was able to heal in the way she needed to in order to cross over. She was never going to be able to hear what she needed to hear from her old “friends” but she heard them from Maddie. Maddie, who’s taken time to get to know the ghosts NOT involved in Mr. Martin’s group, like Mina and Dawn, despite her focus on solving her murder. You could tell how healing those words were to Dawn. To be taken seriously, to be accepted, to be told she’s a good friend.
The rest of the ghosts never really seemed to want to get to know her. They probably tried at some point, but since most of them died after Dawn, she had already been labeled as the weird ghost girl who sits on the lockers. And yeah, they’re kids. They can be self centered, and high schoolers can really get wrapped up in rumors. So Dawn stayed the hippie girl on the lockers, and Mina stayed up in the catwalks of the theater.
Until Maddie. She was willing to listen to Dawn’s ideas, to acknowledge Mina trying to keep people safe. In return, she’s gathered valuable information about who might be behind her death, and about them as people.
I’m going to miss Dawn. But I’m glad she was able to heal and cross over.

i cleaned my room today and am really proud of myself :D
#eliot posts#it's not even fully clean but i folded SO MUCH laundry#and my bed is all clean and freshly made#and there's less shit on the floor#i want to move on to the living room and the entryway next#tho maybe not tonight? idk i feel like i'm getting sick w some kind of respiratory Nonsense#i spent my birthday last year sick too#but that was like really bad bedbound sick (thought it was covid but the test came back negative)#today is just scratchy throat and very mild fatigue#i dod a lot of it on the phone with an old friend i hardly talk to anymore#it was meant to be a quick chat and her introducing me to her new cat#but it ended up lasting a couple hours#just fell naturally into a long conversation like when we were close back in high school#it's always weird after talking to her cuz of how easy conversation is with her sometimes after all these years#but i have no intention of really rekindling that friendship#and i think it was good that we grew apart near the end of high school bc it was slowly transitioning from supportive to codependent#idk i just needed to feel like someone needed me and she was a flaming trainwreck#from what she said today it's a REALLY good thing we weren't friends for the year or two after graduation#but it can be nice to catch up every once in a while

Anyways don’t mind me re-uploading this incoherent ramble about that magic/fantasy/gang au from like almost 2 years ago, the link to the previous upload doesn’t work anymore
and who knows, maybe this’ll get me back into writing the rest of the 10 chapters i had planned out for this?
Powers:
People with powers are very common, they are usually born with them but can develop later in life. Kids usually take on the power/s of their parents, (e.g. a pyrokinetic and a hydrokinetic have a child, that child will have both powers though one power will develop stronger).
However, people can learn a different power by training with someone else. They will take a while to actually develop, and it can take months or even years for trained-in powers to even start to work/appear.
Powers will ‘lock in’ by 21 though they can grow stronger, they cannot change. People can permanently have two powers (occasionally three but that’s incredibly rare) but they either won’t be as strong compared to if they had just focused on the one, or one will be stronger than the other.
Elemental magic is by far the most common and some of the most powerful (meaning the ‘main’ elements i.e water, earth, fire air). Hydrokinesis is the most common, followed by pyrokinesis, then aerokinesis, with geokinesis being the rarest, taking the longest time to control properly. (other ‘elemental’ powers are branches of the others; Ferrokinesis-earth, cryokinesis- water etc.)
Powers such as invisibility, shapeshifting, revivals, and time/interdimensional travel being the rarest and often the most taxing, not unknown for the occasional death.
There tends to be large influxes/groups of people with the same powers. This can be because of families and genetic similarities in the area, environmental factors, or because people learn from each other.

It is unfortunately so disappointing to me to find out that people cannot tell stories. I mean, I honestly kind of have this assumption that everyone can tell a story - something that happened to them, at least, if not something they make up or whatever - and it is so unsettling every time for me to discover that there are actually people who cannot tell a story [well].
#I discovered to my horror that my last roommate from college who I'd known since technically I was in elementary school#COULD NOT tell a story. like she'd tell me something that happened to her and by the end I was like '...THAT was the point? oh my god. -_-'#like apparently sometimes it doesn't matter how dramatic you sound or the inflections in your voice or anything.#sometimes people just cannot tell a story that ends anywhere near as interesting as it started and that is......oh it bothers me.#maybe I'm biased because I'm a writer (YES) but even my socially awkward ass can tell a fuckin' story.#(my best friend has told me before that they love the way I tell stories AND my best friend is also a writer SO...)#however it also makes me think...ah. you know what? maybe my ability to write and tell stories ACTUALLY IS important.#if not everyone can tell a story well then maybe my contribution actually is worthwhile. but I don't know. #personal#or any other program that might be able to help me get up with some kind of start#having no degree and being out of school for so long has decimated my self confidence in my workplace competency#if not that. then maybe seeing if there is literally anything for getting over my fear of driving#which is honestly more financial than anything#we only have one functional car rn and my mom is the one who needs it most (dad cant drive for health reasons)#when my brother was a teenager and just got his license#he made a stupid teenager mistake and accidentally rear ended a schoolbus-#no damage to the bus but apparently the car was totaled#and that was the last time we had two working cars#for YEARS afterwards my dad WOULD NOT LET GO of it and would lament the loss of such a nice car#and it made my brother miserable ngl. he already felt bad. and i mean YEARS#i dont think its much of a mystery why the idea of driving is deeply unpleasant and anxiety inducing#'you cant make a single mistake or else you will incur massive financial damage on the family and will be shamed about it for years'#isnt a great motivator for wanting to be anywhere near the wheel of a car!

Persona 4 likes to be parodied (not often enough imo but still) with Ringu/The Ring/Sadako/Samara because of the whole going in and out of the TV aspect.
Persona 5 has a character named Cihaya Mifune, she was based off of a real life "psychic" named Chizuko Mifune.
One of the influences for Sadako from Ringu was Chizuko Mifune (for the psychic inspo).
