Of finding one's voice, of class divide, of journey towards revolution ? Young Royal analysis S3

I am back, much to my dismay even if the journey is also exhilarating. The limerence, the gut-wrenching obsession which were in check are ablaze with the S3 trailer !!! I am just so excited ! I am buzzing and I need to put it down in words etc.

My first Tumblr post, a few months ago (2 ?) was to talk about this insane amount of mental charge YR was taking rent-free in my head and my life and to ask about book references in YR. (Thanks for the answers even if in-between the countless rewatches of YR, I didn't take much time to read.)

So let's start anew with the S3 trailer. We all saw that in the library scene, just near Wilhelm's head, the cover of a book was subtly put, so to speak, in display even if it was in the background and even if the cover was blurred. Some undescripts yellow booklets are set aside so that we can see the cover of said book. So I tracked it down. Of course, it's a given. I am passionate about literature (though not versed at all in Scandinavian literature). It's the cover of Fröken Julie and Ett drömspel, by August Strindberg, a Swedish playwright. First Miss Julie (1888) paired with another play, A Dream play (1901). Both plays, with different means talk about (dixit wiki) class struggles, the journey to find one's voice, to navigate the tricky balance between the place assigned by society and by gender stereotypes, the struggle between obeying rules, following duty and be one's true self. Fröken Julie is about a forbidden love between an upper class woman who falls in love with a low-class servant. Both try to escape the boundaries, but the weight of the class-divided, patriarchal society is too heavy and the play hints at a final suicide as a way out. I don't think YR will end badly, Willmon will of course be endgame. But the struggles are real and painful.

Miss Julie's plot happens on Midsummer's eve. Stay tuned, I will make two other differents posts based on Midsummer, Young royals etc. What's your take on all this ?

Arabs and Muslims in Michigan are working to beat President Biden in one of the most important swing states in the country, per a new report.

Michigan State Rep. Alabas Farhat is one of many Arab-American elected officials who refused a meeting with Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez in January, according to a new Washington Post article.

"If the president wants to start that process, it’s only feasible through a cease-fire [in Gaza]," Farhat said. "That’s the only way you can even restart the conversation."

Imam Omar Sulemain said during a sermon that Biden wants the vote of the Arab community in Michigan but suggested that Biden is not owed their support.

"And then your president wants to come to your community and make sure that you’re still going to vote with him and vote for him in November," Suleiman said to congregants. "I hope you’ve sent him the right message."

"After the sermon and prayer, Abandon Biden co-chairs Khalid Turaani and Samraa Luqman made an announcement about the effort, urging congregants to show up and vote in a way that ensures Biden does not retain the presidency," The Post reported. "Turaani told those gathered they had no right to complain if they did not make their voices heard."

"For decades, we’ve squandered the power that we have here because [Democrats] were stringing us along, saying, ‘Vote for me, we’re not the other guy,’" Michigan State University assistant professor Shireen Al-Adeimi told The Post. "This is such a dangerous time that we’re finally willing to use that card, and [Biden] thinks we’re bluffing."

Al-Adeimi said that many supporters of a cease-fire were not Arab or Muslim. "That gives us power to say we don’t have to be afraid anymore to express our views and our ideas about this," she said.

The reported the Abandon Biden campaign does not support former President Trump, Biden's likely opponent in the 2024 election, and Biden's campaign is hopeful that if it comes down to a binary choice between the two, the Arab population that supported him strongly when he carried Michigan in 2020 will do so again.

"President Biden knows the importance of earning the trust of every community, of upholding the sacred dignity and rights of all Americans," Biden campaign spokesman Ammar Moussa said in a statement to the Post. "President Biden is working closely and proudly with leaders in the Muslim, Arab American and Palestinian communities in America, to listen to them about a wide range of issues, stand up for them, and fight back against hate. President Biden has also expressed deep concern about the deaths of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. He has urged Israel to do everything possible to avoid civilian casualties. He has also successfully pressed for humanitarian aid to be delivered in Gaza."

Nevertheless, the report said his critics found Biden's overtures to be "weak" gestures, and the Post reported, "A visit to this community makes it clear that even many voters who have not heard of the formal Abandon Biden campaign plan to deny Biden their vote. They are furious that a president they saw as an ally has unwaveringly backed Israel in a military campaign that has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians and, in their view, shown scant empathy for the dead, wounded and displaced."

Some polls indicate that Biden's support among Arab Americans is falling, including a survey conducted by Arab American Institute president James Zogby.

"Zogby conducted a poll in October that showed that support for Biden among Arab Americans had plummeted to 17 percent, down from 59 percent in 2020," The Post wrote. "Zogby’s poll also found that two-thirds of Arab Americans have a negative view of Biden’s response to the violence in Israel and Gaza."

"There’s very deep hurt, and 25,000 or 30,000 lives aren’t going to come back," Zogby told The Post on the difficulty of a cease-fire after casualties from the war. "There is no way to recoup what’s been lost. There is the possibility of creating the opening for a conversation, but there has to be a rather dramatic change on some levels of policy."

Sami Baraka, who said his family has been displaced by the war in Gaza, claimed that he voted for Biden in 2020 because he was "the lesser of two evils," but he no longer believes that.

The Biden campaign did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Amra and Fayq Abu Mostafa became the ninth and tenth antisemitic, Hamas, or Hitler-praising journalists fired, suspended, reassigned, or no longer used due to reports by HonestReporting since I became the organization’s executive director in July 2022, including three from The New York Times, two from AP, and two from CNN.

PEOPLE WHO HATE Jews can be journalists, but they should not be reporting about the Jewish state. Therefore, Reuters is wrong to continue paying for pictures from photojournalist Doaa Rouqa, whose social media posts, revealed by HonestReporting, have celebrated rockets fired at Israel and called Hamas’s attacks “brave resistance.” Last week, HonestReporting also revealed a disturbing social media post by Reuters Executive Editor Simon Robinson, who shared an extremely problematic essay titled “The Shoah after Gaza.”

There is also plenty of evidence of journalists collaborating with Hamas that did not come through HonestReporting.

The IDF revealed evidence that two Al Jazeera journalists were active terrorists in Hamas. Mohammed Wishnah held a senior role in the terrorist group’s anti-tank unit and taught young jihadis how to fire anti-tank missiles and make incendiary devices. Ismail Abu Omar was found to have accompanied Hamas terrorists into Israel on Oct. 7, going to Kibbutz Nir Oz.

Gaza-based journalist Muthana Al-Najjar entered Israel on Oct. 7 and shocked Israelis with his stand-up to camera reports from Kibbutz Nahal Oz as gunshots were heard in the background. He did not wear a press vest or a helmet to make him identifiable as a member of the press, and clearly did not feel under threat from the Hamas terrorists in his midst.

Al-Najjar filmed the kidnapping of terrified Shiri Bibas and her small children, Ariel and Kfir, instead of trying to save their lives. He also shared a picture showing two of the terrorists triumphantly stepping on the body of a murdered Israeli, with a comment translated from Arabic: “Their dead under the feet of the warriors of al-Qassam Brigades.”

While Al-Najjar actively knew he was part of a Hamas plan, others listed here might not have. But the line in the Hamas document that Dayan revealed says clearly that the terrorist organization intended to take advantage of journalists, and on Oct. 7 it did just that.

so i posted my latest desktop background a few days ago and then fish was none-too-subtly like "this could be a photoshoot for an interview" and what can i say, i tripped and opened photoshop by complete accident. it happens to the best of us.

a thousand thanks to @plantbasedfish, @the-amber-fox, and @pagegirlintraining for the help coming up with article titles for the cover and translating everything into swedish, which i don't speak and can't learn because i already have too many languages in my brain (and in duolingo). if you are swedish and notice any errors, feel free to let me know - i shall correct and repost ASAP.

Like actually stupidly emotional young royals thoughts posts because of the finale

Complete and utter rant here guys so no need to read but. I watched Young Royals in the first week of July 2021, the literal week it came out. I’ve seen the aftermath of season one and two, the pride when Omar and Edvin went on a US talk show, I remember finding out the first five minutes of season two had been posted (I was out for dinner with my sister and made her sit in silence so I could watch it), I’ve done countless young royals marathons, forced 2 friends to watch all of season one with me, convinced another to start it and gone on about it constantly to whoever would listen. I’ve shed too many tears to count and have read nearly all the fanfics under the tag and tomorrow is the last new content we’ll get. I’ve already cried once tonight and I’m near tears writing this but I just wanted to do an appreciation post for everyone in the fandom, specifically my mutuals I’ve met because of this show and the ones who have never watched it but liked my endless posts about it anyway.

We made a truly amazing fandom these last three years, and whilst I’m devastated at the thought of it dying out, I am so so so grateful it happened at all.

so what are the Ericson kid's birth dates exactly? I know Clem is confirmed to be on October 26th in 1994 because of her age and all from in-game references. But I am genuinely curious about the other kid's birthdays. Kind of would like to use other people's rough estimates for some scenes in my own fan fiction.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar got a prominent Democratic primary challenger Sunday when former Minneapolis City Council member Don Samuels announced he’ll try once again to unseat her after coming close in 2022.

Omar, a charter member of “the squad” of progressive House Democrats, won reelection twice despite making comments in her first term that were widely criticized for invoking antisemitic tropes and suggesting Jewish Americans have divided loyalties. But Omar — a Somali American and Muslim — has come under renewed fire for condemning the Israeli government’s handling of its war against Hamas.

“Our congresswoman has a predilection to divisiveness and conflict,” Samuels said in an interview with The Associated Press ahead of his official announcement Sunday morning on WCCO Radio.

The Jamaican-born Samuels still maintains that his narrow primary loss in 2022 showed Omar was beatable, and that he could have won if they had competed later in the general election, where Omar won 74% of the vote over a little-known Republican.

The big issue in 2022 was the future of policing in the city where George Floyd was murdered in 2020 by a former Minneapolis police officer, which touched off protests around the world and riots in Minnesota. Omar was among the progressives who slammed former President Barack Obama for criticizing the “defund the police” movement as just a “snappy slogan.”

“It’s not a slogan but a policy demand,” she posted on Twitter, now known as X.

In contrast, the centrist Samuels helped lead the opposition that defeated a proposal on the city ballot in 2021 that arose from the “defund” movement and would have replaced the police force with a revamped public safety agency. Samuels thinks safety will be a top issue again.

“The long tails of the George Floyd and COVID issues continue, with empty storefronts and empty strip malls because people don’t want to invest anymore. They don’t think it’s safe,” Samuels said.

Omar issued a written statement Sunday touting her work in Congress and for her district, including fighting to combat climate change and codify abortion rights. She also noted her part in securing an affordable housing facility for veterans in Minnesota and a public safety measure that provides mental health support and services for victims of gun violence.

“Right-wing donors have targeted me since I first entered public life,” Omar said in the statement, which also accused Samuels of taking hundreds of thousands in contributions from far-right donors and political action committees. “If we’re going to stop Donald Trump, we need record turnout, and I am confident in our ability to drive turnout, particularly in a presidential election year.”

The war in the Middle East has already divided Democrats and upended the dynamics of some House primaries. Omar has been critical of Hamas for attacking Israel and taking hostages — but even more so of Israel’s military response. Her focus has been the plight of civilians in the Gaza Strip. She has also condemned the surge of intimidation and violence against both Muslim and Jewish targets in the U.S.

It remains to be seen how potent an issue the war will be in an overwhelmingly Democratic district that includes Minneapolis and some suburbs. The district also has a large Somali Muslim population. And it includes St. Louis Park, which historically has been a center of Jewish life in Minnesota.

Samuels said he believes the war will be a big concern. He criticized Omar for voting against placing sanctions on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine but supporting sanctions against Israel, and for boycotting Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s speech to Congress in July.

“She has frightened the Jewish community,” Samuels said, adding that the community “understands that there is a latent and lurking antisemitic sentiment that always needs discouragement, and always in times of national crisis raises its ugly head.”

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee has been actively trying to recruit a credible challenger to Omar. That drew pushback from a strong supporter of Israel, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who issued a public show of support for Omar this summer. A super PAC affiliated with AIPAC spent about $350,000 against Omar in 2022. But Samuels said AIPAC didn’t try to recruit him.

Omar’s fellow House Democrats have portrayed her as a serious legislator who in the past four years has earned admiration for giving voice to marginalized groups often forgotten on Capitol Hill.
