Listen up anon, so there's this dude named Kyle, his ass so extremely fat I swear.. It’s just huge! Enormous! Ya’ get the deal, right. His asscheeks just couldn’t be quenched, ever. This dude enjoyed his free time just fuckin’ twerkin’ at others to assert his dominance, the flappyness of his gigantic buttocks would intimidate anyone in a 10 mile radius! Literally! The second people heard the clappin’ of Kyle’s asscheeks get closer they would run the hell away! A lonely life he must’ve lived ey… but hey! He didn’t seem ta’ mind, his brain was stored in the ass so he didn’t really care about anythin’! Sounds like a fun life to me!

And so anyways.. Kyle was able to live a happy life, even though he didn’t have friends or a lover, he had his big fat enormously thick badonkadonkerlongerschinglers… and that’s what mattered.... THE END!

What's up bro! Something funny huh? Well, you can call it open mic night because...I have no idea where I was going with that. That wasn't the funny thing, I can do better I swear. Ok, here's what I got for you. So, once upon a time, I was sitting alone in a basement watching a horror movie. Like, that was a BAD idea, because it was dark, and I was alone, and the movie was actually pretty damn terrifying, but I'm friends with a lot of horror movie fans, and in order to seem tougher, I kinda sorta told them that I love horror movies, and they were like "Oh great, go watch this list of movies so we can watch the next one that comes out together." So ya boy was like, great, ok, movies. I can do this. But bro, the Conjuring series is actually pretty damn terrifying, especially if you're alone in a basement.

So I was doing pretty ok, vibing with my new best friend, a baby Yoda plushy that was the size of my torso, (he's doing good too, his name is Chad.) and I think I was watching Annabelle comes home, I mean, it was something creepy doll related, and I was at a part where a clawed monster arm slowly reaches for the child's leg. It was slow, scary music, all kinds of suspense, and as the monster thingy's claws reached the child...I FELT CLAWS ON MY HEEL!

So I freaked, and I mean, totally freaked the hell out. I jumped off the couch, accidentally smacked Chad onto the floor (Sorry Chad) and I screamed louder and at a higher pitch then the damn eight year old girls in the movie. Like, if I was acting in a horror movie, I would have gotten an oscar award. I think that's the movie award, right? Anyways, I whacked my head on a wall, tripped over a chair, and sprinted to the back of the room. But then my brain caught up with me, and it said something like, "Kaito, bro, there's no way there's a monster under there." And then I saw it. I had left one of my socks by the couch. Slowly, something reached out, hooked itself around the sock, and slowly dragged it under the couch.

There is only one creature that I know of that does that. It was my freaking cat. So the couch I was sitting on has a really low opening at the bottom, so I didn't think that my cat could even fit under there! But she did, and now I'm pretty sure that took at least six years off my life. It also turned out that I wasn't alone, and my friend came downstairs expecting an axe murderer or to find me dead, because apparently the whole country could have heard me scream. I didn't finish the movie, I will cut my losses on that one. I dunno if that's actually funny, but it was to me at the time, and it still is, so yeah, that's what you get. You're swag too, this was fun to answer. I hope it made you laugh!!

Oooh, I totally got this. Ok, so this is probably one of my best stories, I think, so here we go. So once upon a time, I was a freshman. I know, wow, exciting. And my friend and I had the same class, so we were walking together, and he told me he had to use the bathroom, and then he told me to wait for him. So I was like, ok, whatever, and leaned on the wall outside the bathroom playing games on my phone or whatever. I'm pretty sure I looked sketchy as hell, but that's ok. So, my friend was in there for a while, like, twenty minutes had passed and we were officially late for class, but like I didn't care. Because screw education, I'm already a genius.

Anywho, at this point I was pretty sure my friend had died or something, so I texted him something helpful, something along the lines of "Where the fuck are you?" Surprisingly I got an answer, and that answer was "I'm stuck." So I was like, wait what the hell does that mean? So I sent him about sixteen question marks as a response. And again, like the helpful bastard he is, he said "I'm stuck." At this point I was kinda over waiting for him, but I was still a liiiiittle curious, so I said "stuck how?" And my friend, my sweet, completely stupid as hell friend said, "In the urinal." So cue sixteen more question marks on my end, and he said "Now hear me out." Well, my choices were to go to class or hear him out, so naturally I stayed. My friend then called me to tell me his epic tale of stupidity. He started out with, "So the little floaty ball thing was broken." And I was like, ok, wow, fantastic, fabulous, get to the damn point. Then he said "So I decided to try and push it back down with my foot. And now my foot is stuck." I can't remember what I said exactly, but I'm pretty sure it was something along the lines of "Why the FUCK would you do that? That's disgusting!" and to reassure me my friend said, "Don't worry, I took my socks off before I did it."

So this utter genius took his socks off, then put his shoes back on before shoving his foot into a urinal to try and fix it. The urinals at that school had like, freaking huge holes for some reason, (that sounded wrong), so it was honestly pretty believable that he had actually done this. To double check I opened the door, looked inside, and whacked my head on the door knob doubling over laughing, because there he was in all of his glory, my friend, socks on the floor next to him, left foot jammed into the urinal. He told me to go away, because he had it handled, and I think I was just on the floor laughing for the next five minutes. Eventually my friend said something like, "Ok, I don't got this. I need help." So I dragged myself off the floor and managed to find the janitor.

Amazingly, he thought I was screwing around when I told him my friend was stuck in a urinal. I had to literally beg him to follow me, which he did, and when he opened the door, there was my friend, who quickly tried to look casual. All the janitor said was "How in the hell did you do that?" Well, turns out my friend was stuck TIGHT, and the janitor couldn't get him out, so he did what any sensible person would do. He called an ERT. ERT stood for emergency rescue teacher, and that was a group of teachers who would rush out and go to help with an emergency, usually an injury. So, two minutes later, the godly sound of "ERT to the boy's hallway bathroom, ERT to the boy's hallway bathroom." was playing over the loudspeakers. The teachers held the door open while they were trying to get my friend free, so pretty much anyone could walk by and see what was going on. I was dying laughing with a few other friends that had showed up, and from that point forward, my friend was known as "Urinal Guy" until graduation. Oh yeah, they got him out, he's not like, still there or anything. Anyways, there you go. That's my story, and yeah, I don't really have anything else to say. I hope you enjoyed, I need to go ensure that my friend never finds out that I put this story on the internet.

King of Prism SSS episode 8 commentary (Yu)

So, in my opinion, I think the episodes we’ve seen up until now could be more or less enjoyed to the fullest by newcomers and/or people who haven’t seen Rainbow Live.

But from here on out, there is a notable change. And I really mean from here on out: Episodes 8 - 12 basically require having seen Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live to be fully understood I think.

So if you watched this episode and thought wait.... why did they just skip over Yu’s backstory like that!?!

Two words: Rainbow Live.

Anyway let’s get started.

I’m surprised the subber knew the correct spelling to ViviC Heart Session. That takes.... research!? ....Wait, it’s in the credits. Still, that’s some non-linear translation.

Also I kinda wonder when and where ViviC Heart Session came from in canon. Yeah it’s the Pride the Hero ending, but there is a whole story on how they made and performed Dramatic Love for the Christmas concert, but nothing on ViviC Heart Session as far as I know.

If you’re wondering why they’re all acting so weird, there have already been not one but TWO different story arcs in the Prism Rush Main Story about Yu ambitiously deciding to write songs and biting off way more than he could chew ahah....

They know.

So this kinda dates this episode? Sort of? Despite the way it seems in episode 1, clearly the Prism One doesn’t take place right after it was announced ahah.

The way Yu says this line makes me think it’s probably been a month or so already.

So maybe it was announced in July-August (episode 1 takes place in “summer”), and happened in September-October, something like that?

So like literally JUST as I was thinking to myself “wow the subs have really gotten better in this episode....” THIS had to happen... How dare you translate Taiga’s “IT’S A FESTIVAL” as “party time”................

Oh well. Honestly though, aside from this, this episode has the best subs so far, BY FAR.

Been wondering for months how they would sub MUGEN HABUUUUUU because I had no idea how I would do it myself ahah.

Although they don’t state it explicitly, it’s pretty clear this episode takes place in Okinawa. Among many other things, I think it’s the only place in Japan with habu.

I may or may not have thought way too hard for too long about how Taiga and Kakeru ended up in this boat together.

I mean I would like to think Taiga chose Kakeru as his partner in good faith that they could work well together.

BUT KAKERU ISN’T EVEN ROWING COME ON

I suppose it could have been random pairs, but Shin and Leo also ended up together and that seems not random ahah. Speaking of which...

When I saw this episode for the first time I saw it as a 3-pack with Leo’s episode coming right before (the theatrical Part 3). So I had just gone though Leo’s episode for the first time and all the baggage that came with it less than 10 minutes earlier.

And needless to say I was VERY MUCH NOT OVER IT AND EXPERIENCING VERY HIGH EMOTIONS ABOUT LEO

So during this scene I was like like

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

MY SONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

SAVE HIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

It actually took me until at least my second or third viewing to catch Kakeru trying to take a selfie with Taiga in the background there and I lost my shit.

BTW I just want to mention that ViviC Heart Session was made for this episode. Well yes I know it wasn’t literally made for this episode, but it’s always sounded tropical for me and it just could not be more perfect.

I have been wondering for months what Taiga says here and I’m still not sure. (Not that I think this subtitle is wrong, but I mean I can’t make out the Japanese he uses. I just know folks in the theater laugh about it. Or they could just be laughing at Taiga’s method of escaping from Yu.)

Me at cheering: “IT’S SHIN. PICK UP.”

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”

I wonder if like, they all got together and tried to figure out who Yu was least likely to hang up on.

But seriously though

I said once that Jin was the best voicework in SSS, but Taiga man I dunno. Taiga is up there too. This scream is just so..... BRILLIANT..........

My reaction here changes from “OMG TAIGA ARE YOU OK” to just laughing hysterically. Sometimes in the same showing. Taiga I’m sorry.

Seriously this episode is just SO BEAUTIFUL.

Such a simple plot, but such amazing atmosphere and visuals that really take it SO MUCH FURTHER.

If I stopped to take screenshots of everything I thought looked amazing this post would never end. So just know I’m definitely thinking it. Just goddamn.

For a long time I wondered how and why Minato found about about this.

But then I realized it actually makes a lot of sense.

So remember in my last post when I talked about my theory that Minato and Yu probably joined Edel Rose at the same time? Well, when Yu met Leo, basically the first thing he did was brag about knowing Over the Rainbow. So he probably did the same to Minato, and/or Minato just noticed him being way too friendly with Kouji.

Considering Minato entered Edel Rose FOR KOUJI there is no way he wouldn’t notice that and wonder about it.

So one day he probably worked up the courage to ask Kouji about it, and.....

Oh boy.

BTW if you’re thinking huh? Yu’s family was separated? What?

See: The Ito/Kouji plot in Rainbow Live. (And bring tissues.)

Just the comparison of how fast he picks up here. Even though the first thing he does is complain to her it’s like.... HALF A SECOND from when he sees it’s Ito to when he answers omg.....

So I kinda questioned this subtitle here. Because the literal Japanese is just him saying “IT’S LATE!”

So I always thought he meant it like “Do you know what time it is!?”

But then I thought about it some more. And I remembered the Rose Party 2018 event, where the voice actors played a game where they all decided new aspects of the characters. And one of the things that were tasked with deciding (at the afternoon performance I believe) was what Yu does every night before he goes to bed. And one of the answers was “discusses life problems with Ito”.

So, maybe Ito does call Yu every night so he had been waiting on a call from her for a while....

And if so, in that context this subtitle is spot on.

You win, Crunchyroll.

Cheering audience: “THAT WAY”

Yu was so impressive Kakeru stopped taking pictures of Taiga for a full minute.

DID I MENTION THIS EPISODE IS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL

But so like. As soon as they started heading up the hill. Like practically from when they called his name, I was like..... Yu’s gonna cry.

So then it was many long, long seconds of anticipation.....

until finally this.....

And I was not disappointed.

Of all the beautiful things in this episode, I think the most beautiful thing may just be Yu’s crying animation here. He’s such a beautiful crier.

I love this scene so much. It brings me so much joy. Because he’s not crying because he’s hurt or sad.

He’s crying because he realized he has friends.

HE’S CRYING BECAUSE HE HAS FRIENDS

You know, I didn’t even realize Taiga was hiding behind Kakeru until someone in the stream pointed it out.

Am I an asshole because this is Yu’s episode but most of my favorite moments involve Taiga/Kakeru.

OH MY GAWD I have NEVER so desperately wanted to reach through the screen and hug an anime character

Also Leo always cries when anyone else is crying.

I spent so much time looking at Kakeru and Minato that I didn’t even realize Taiga too..... They’re BOTH sleeping on top of Minato omg.....

Also I can’t help but laugh that Leo is the big spoon on Shin. But it doesn’t surprise me. If you read Prism Rush stuff, Leo aggressively cuddling Shin in his sleep is nothing new.

Damn but. Okay so like, another way in which seeing this episode right after Leo’s influenced me is, during Leo’s episode I kept thinking about what PriPara coords were closest to the outfits that the boys were wearing and how I was totally gonna record arcade videos with them.

And then we get to this and I was like OH MAN I can’t wait until that outfit comes out so I can put it on my character.... then I was like.... WAIT.....

And I realized this is basically the only idol anime I watch currently where I can’t have the clothes and I was like......... ahhhh.... not fair..........

Seriously though it is kind of odd. For me anyhow.

But also because they don’t have to worry about an arcade game for King of Prism, they have a lot more freedom. Like in a show like this, usually all the important coords that season will all uniformly have wings or holograms or otherwise follow some kind of a theme.

But with this it’s like... WHATEVER. Give Yu a huge floaty cross?? SURE WHY NOT!!!! ahah......

PRISM LIIIIVE

Okay so I know this animation is straight from Rainbow Live.

But this lightning guitar here, it’s a recolor of Sara’s guitar from PriChan isn’t it?

And if it is, this’s the first/only specifically PriChan (not PriPara) reference I know of in SSS.

So I guess the Prism System doesn’t score Prism Lives for boys yet, huh....?

So one Prism Live + one jump = this.

But I suppose you could also argue that although Yu’s show was super personal and meaningful to him, he really didn’t do much for the audience did he? (The in-universe audience I mean, as it did plenty for me haha.) It was a rather street-style show in that aspect when you think about it.

Oh well, I guess no matter what someone has to be last................................

Ah man anyway this episode.

So when I saw it for the first time, it actually didn’t leave that much of an impression on me. But that’s because it was a bit overshadowed by how EXTREMELY EMOTIONALLY DISTRAUGHT I was from Leo’s episode, and then I ended up leaving the theater thinking about the um, surprise that’s gonna happen next week in Alexander’s episode. So this episode kinda fell by the wayside.

I was actually kinda jealous of how much you guys in the stream were freaking out about it. It really made me wish I had the chance to see it independently without the influence of Leo and Alexander. There are definitely advantages to watching these week-to-week instead of in odd bunches.

Because the more I watched it, the more I really REALLY liked it, and now I think it’s probably my third favorite character episode after Taiga’s and Leo’s. (Or maybe even second. I keep flip-flopping.)

I was also a bit blindsided by how this episode didn’t really follow the normal formula. Since they skipped over Yu’s backstory, they had time for other things. They had time for, dare I say it... “filler”? By that I mean, time to focus on just the boys being boys. Although it’s something we get a lot of on Prism Rush, I realized it’s something we have been severely lacking in the movies and anime. Another big difference between this series and typical Pretty Series/Aikatsu-type anime (other than not being able to have the coords......) is the lack of filler, and I realized how truly valuable it can be. This episode is just such a jewel.

So in between last week and this week I picked up a magazine (spoon 2Di vol. 50) with director commentary, and this was the last episode he commented on.

He said this episode is about Yu going through his “rebellious phase”, which he never had the chance to have when he was younger since his family split up during such an important part of his childhood and he felt he had to be strong for his mom and all that.

So instead he goes through it with his Edel Rose family.

GAAAAAH

Probably my favorite thing about Yu is how we’re able to see him gradually grow and change more than any other character I think.

Who would have though that little boy we met in Hokkaido would get this far......

So next up is Alexander’s episode and um....

You may have noticed me talking significantly less about that episode that I have about others. And there’s a reason for that. And it’s not because I have nothing to say about it......

The events in Alexander’s episode basically set off a continuity train until the end of the series. IMHO it doesn’t matter what order you watch episodes 2-8 in, but from here on out it’s definitely all connected.

So basically what I’m trying to get at is.... um.... g..... get emotionally ready for some future cliffhangers. I’m sorry.

Also, your last chance to properly prepare by watching Rainbow Live.... you won’t be disappointed, I promise.......

a/n: showing some love for our underappreciated seokshine

Summary: in which you can feel your soulmate’s emotions, ex. happiness, sadness, anger

your heart kinda hurts for your soulmate

yes, you know it’s not possible to be happy 24/7

but the normal emotions you feel from your soulmate are generally in the categories of happy or stressed

both which are completely normal and it makes you happy to know your soulmate has been happy the majority of their life

never have you felt this much sadness from him or her, but i mean your pretty sure your attracted to guys so

specially this past month,

and now you feel even worse because as you’re feeling worried, he’ll be able to tell and maybe get even more sad

this cruel world is breaking both of your hearts

so you tried your very best to be as happy as possible

positivity is key

and there’s lots of positive energy around you so hopefully you can project this to your soulmate

your job as a PD-nim at MBC is really fun

part of it is just talking to a bunch of people your age so you’re on a first name bases with lots of celebrities

it’s funny how they’re like “you’re a PD-nim? you’re so young”

it’s so weird to hear honorifics from many of the idols your age so you insist they treat you like a friend

you like filming the waiting rooms before stages the best

something about the nervous but vibrant energy,

people doing what they love to do, making others happy, being with people that made them happy

you wanted to soak it all up and hope your soulmate would feel happier too

“y/n the next group is in the waiting room.” your boss tells you, shaking you from your thoughts

“okay we’re filming for our special right?“

“Yep, doing ‘what’s in my bag’ for show champ"

the thirteen boys scattered about the crowded room turn to say their greetings to you and the staff

you bow in greeting also

“I’ll just quickly check everyone’s stuff before filming just to make sure no one has anything that’s too personal,” you tell the other staff

“noona you got prettier,” seungkwan says to you

“ah thanks seungkwan, are you trying to butter me up?” you laugh

he denies it with the other members teasing him

looking at the group, you notice someone’s missing

“where’s DK, he usually jumping around being wild,” you ask

"hyung isn’t feeling well today he’s over in the corner getting his hair styled.”

if you had to choose one member in seventeen as a bias, it would be DK

because somehow, you had a crush on the guy

"I know I’m crazy right?” you think

it didn’t seem to make sense with your soulmate being out there and the both of you sharing emotions

but that had been part of the reason you liked Seokmin

without fail, he always managed to bring a smile to everyone’s faces and yours too

if you were to imagine everything you’d want in a soulmate it’d be him

and that made you feel extremely guilty to your own soulmate

“hiiii DK, can you gather with the other members?”

he smiles at you, though not as brightly, “yes of course”

now with the whole group, you ask them to show their bags before filming and to pick an MC

going along the line you look into each of their personal bags

as you pass each member of Svt, a pattern starts appearing as you ask each of them questions

“Seungcheol, you carry around a marker?” “Yea, just in case (his soulmate’s name) needs me."

"Wait so you found your soulmate? Does the company know? Are you telling fans yet?"

"You’ll see a lot of us have, but the company doesn’t want us talking about it to fans yet."

and as you walk down the line you realize that almost everyone had found the one for them

"Joshua how’d you get a scratch on your arm are you ok?” “Oh this is new. That’s weird it wasn’t here five minutes ago. I’m not sure, (his soulmate’s name) must have scratched herself somehow. Excuse me I’m going to call her and check to make sure she’s ok."

"Soonyoung, hey what’s up! What’s that?” you ask a smiley Soonyoung

“Oh it’s my lucky ear piece. (His soulmate’s name) bought it for me to bring good luck since she hears all the music I do too and she’s my luck."

this was how you found out that every member had found their soulmate

they all would tell you a cute little story or show you some cute little keepsake before you moved on to check the next person’s bag

"I still haven’t returned (Jun’s soulmate’s name)’s umbrella back to her. It’s sitting in the dorm and reminds me how amazing she is every time I see it."

Jun giggles while telling you about that rainy night and by the time you reached Seokmin

"I don’t suppose you have a cute story to tell me about your soulmate?” you say giggling and poking through his items in his personal bag

“Dokyeom?” you look up and your heart begins aching

DK is staring down at his feet, eyes wide as if trying not to blink

“No, actually, I’m the only one who hasn’t found their soulmate yet in Seventeen."

it was bad timing

you felt your positive front you had tried maintaining go down for a bit as you sympathized with Seokmin

and whoever your soulmate was, you could feel that they were even sadder now,

and maybe it was because you felt sorry for Seokmin that he tried smiling at you

"it’s ok though I’ll find them. I will find them."

those words made you feel hopeful and you could feel some hope in your soulmate too in fact, they seemed to cheer up a little after your talk with Seokmin

the conversation and timing replays into your head

no way….?

you decide to attribute the moment of hope as simply your soulmate drawing strength from your emotions

"Lee Seokmin, I believe in you, our sunshine and happy virus.” you say, giving him a smile as you pat his arm

you’re surprised when Seokmin gives you a hug, your heart racing as an effect

“Thank you, y/n for making me feel better."

"No problem” you say, barely breathing, your heart racing

and you think you’ve finally gone insane because you feel some other emotion from your soulmate that you hadn’t felt before

a kind of happiness and a feeling of lightness, a floaty feeling it’s kind of the feeling you’re getting now after hugging Seokmin

you shake your head and give Dokyeom one last smile which he returns before you turn back to face the others

after they were finished, they were surprisingly talking quietly among themselves

which was a bit suspicious for multiple reasons

wait…

you felt something in the pit of your stomach and realized

where your soulmate had felt sadness, there was nervous anticipation

a mix of being worried but also curious

not thinking much of it, you collect all the filming materials

suddenly, you feel a tap on your shoulder and turn around

your eyes meet the members who have pushed Seungkwan to the front with DK standng a little behind

"hmm?” you say

Seungkwan turns around really nervously too look at the others and you hear a voice say in the back

“yah Seungkwan pali, she tolerates you the most”

‘what the heck???’ you think

you watch as Seungkwan takes a deep breath and

“YAH!! I WAS LYING EARLIER BECAUSE YOU LOOK EXTRA UGLY TODAY!!!”

immediately, Seungkwans knees sink to the ground while he bows furiously in apology

“the heck. did you go crazy??” you say half angry half confused

suddenly you feel an emotion that’s not yours

happiness? it’s the kind of happiness that warms your heart and makes it seem as if the world could just explode from all of the happiness

it’s how your soulmate is feeling

and you look behind Seungkwan to see the most dazzling smile gracing Seokmin’s face

“hyung I think it’s her! the timing is exactly the same!”

“what??” you say shocked

is he serious

suddenly there’s screams everywhere and you somehow figure out a bit of what was going on

not the first priority but the most obvious, Seungkwan who’s still hugging your legs

pulling him up you shake your head and laugh, “you were the sacrificial lamb huh?”

“noona jinja mianhae, you really are pretty”

he engulfs you in a apology hug, surprising you

“YAH! What are you doing Seungkwannie!!!” Dokyeom says pulling him off of you

Seventeen backs away pulling Seungkwan with them,

and somehow, because of the staff and members, the two of you end up in a board room

together, alone, yup

you rock back and forth on your feet while he scratches his head, the both of you laughing nervously

as your nervous self, you blurt out, “you shouldn’t scratch, it’ll mess up your hair”

P R I O R I T I E S

you scream at yourself

“so i’m pretty sure we’re soulmates right?” he says chuckling

giggling you say, “yep, when you think about it, it makes sense”

“you’ve always felt a connection too right?!” he says excitedly

“of course!” you agree with a grin

and you think back to the almost perfect timing of your emotions earlier when talking

and then the hug

and how Seokmin always managed to make you feel happier

now you knew it was quite literally done too

handing each other your phones, you exchange numbers quickly

“I know you have a really busy schedule but let’s meet again soon”

“it’s a promise!” he agrees

the atmosphere gets weird for a moment, the both of you not knowing what to do next

as you feel each other’s emotions, you know exactly what to do

so you guys meet in the middle for a hug

he rests his head on yours

you can feel his chest vibrating from his chuckle

“I’m glad it’s you”

“me too”

as he’s walking out, you remember something and grab his arm

“hold on please!” you tell him and start digging through your purse

as you search messily, he stands there with anticipation

“ah!” you say and pull the item out

as you hand him a keychain, you can clearly feel his happy emotions

shyly explaining you say, “you don’t have anything of mine like the others so, here”

without warning, he pulls you back into a tight hug and then smiles at you like the sunshine you know

“I’ll take good care of it”

you nod

“it’s not that official, so when we meet next, let’s get something matching okay?” you smile, your eyes changing into crescents

“ah! a moon and sun keychain”

“why?”

“because your eyes are like the moon”

immediately you both giggle at his cheesy words

nodding you agree,

“and you’re just like the sun, bright and warm”

Crossing Paths- Chapter 4: A Night In

Betty and Jughead continued sitting next to each other in class, he would see her when he went to get coffee during her shift, and she would see him when she went to the bookstore. They would chat in the hallways when they ran into each other, but nothing more had happened even though both of them wanted it desperately, even if they didn’t want to admit it yet.

It was a thursday afternoon after school and Betty headed towards the coffee shop to start her shift. Once she got there she put her purse and jacket away when Lex came up behind her and made her jump.

“Gosh, Lex!” she exclaimed, “I didn’t know you were here yet”

“I’m always here early” she smirked

After a rush had died down, Betty sat down to relieve her feet.

“So… how’s things with your ‘friend’ Jughead?” she asked with finger quotes as she leaned back against the counter.

“We are friends Lex.. that’s all…”

Lex giggled “Ok Betty whatever you say, I’m just teasing. And I only tease you because I see the way he looks at you, and all you do is blush around him for Christ's Sake. There is something there, you guys just haven’t figured it out yet”

“You think?” Betty asked unseriously. “and what do you think I should do about that Lex?” she asked raising an eyebrow and smiling.

“I don’t know ask him on a date or something”

“I can’t ask him on a date yet, that would be awkward!”

“Fine then ask him to come over and chill at your house”

“Hmmm” Betty thought for a moment as Lex went to the counter to help a customer.

I guess that couldn’t hurt, she thought. I’ll ask him during class tomorrow. She had after all been looking for an excuse to do something with him since they had coffee. Seeing each other in class just wasn’t enough anymore, she just hoped he felt the same way.

Betty walked into class on Friday morning and saw Jughead already sitting in their usual spot. She smiled when he looked up at her and she walked over and sat next to him.

“Hey, how are you?” he asked

“I’m good, so glad it’s friday”

“Me too I can’t wait to just chill all weekend”

Heres your chance Betty, Take it

“Hey I was actually kinda wondering if you would want to come over to my house tonight. We could order pizza and just chill and watch movies or something…” she asked hesitantly

“I would love to Betty, after all food is the way to my heart…”

“Ok great” she smiled “When do you get off work today?”

“Umm, 5 I think”

“Ok, I’ll see you at 5:45 then?”

“Sounds good, can’t wait” he smiled before the professor started class and everyone started paying attention.

It was 4:30 and Jughead’s head was racing as he rushed to get the rest of the books from the back onto the shelves before he went home. Am I overthinking this, does Betty really like me, I thought it was just me, just keep your cool man, you don’t wanna be this nervous when you go over to her apartment.

He was nervous but very excited that she had asked him to come over because he had been looking for another way to spend some more time with her and hadn’t come up with anything yet, so he was kind of relieved that she said something first.

It was finally 5pm and Jughead headed home to get ready to go over to Betty’s. He knows he shouldn’t feel nervous, after all this is what he has been waiting for but he couldn’t help it. When he got back to his apartment he dropped off his coat and went straight to the bathroom. He took off his hat and sighed at how his hair looked, he grabbed a comb and went to work, once it finally looked ok, he placed his beanie back on, carefully without messing up his hair. He washed his hands then reapplied some deodorant. He then went to his kitchen and grabbed some beers to bring over. He slipped on his shoes and headed up the stairs to the 6th floor.

He approached her door and took a deep breath to calm himself before knocking.

“Hi!” Betty said as she opened the door

She was wearing a pair of high waisted blue jeans with a cropped floaty white top. She is beautiful, he thought.

“Hi” he said smiling

“Come on in. Here you can set those down here” she gestured towards his beers.

“So what kind of pizza are you feeling?” she asked

“Um.. pepperoni and... sausage?”

“Sounds good, I’ll just order quickly, I’m starving!” she said

“Me too”

She ordered the food and they went to sit on the couch while they waited for it to show up.

“It’s nice having you here Juggie, after both of us being friends with Archie for so long, we finally get to be friends”

She just called us friends “Ya I agree, I really have enjoyed spending some time with you” he said.

“Hey let’s crack open some of those beers shall we?”

“Ya sure that sounds great” she said

He got up while smiling to get them both a beer. He opened two and walked back over and handed her one.

“Thanks”

“So how has it been since you moved here?” she asked

“Well it’s been pretty good, i enjoy school mostly, I like getting to study what I want to which means a lot of writing, and my job is really great, it seems my life kind of revolves around writing...but I don’t know many people and I get pretty lonely sometimes, thanks for inviting me over by the way”

“My pleasure...I get lonely a lot too, it’s not easy moving to a new place where you don’t know anyone. I’m glad we have each other to talk to at least, I’m glad Archie introduced us” she said

“Ya me too, I’m starting to think he was just doing it to make sure I wasn’t lonely for the rest of my life”

“Haha, well at least he cares about you right?”

“Ya, he’s a great friend”

“Ya he is”

They continued chit chatting for a while before they heard the door bell

Ding Dong

“Oh! the pizza, I’ll get it hold on”

She brings the pizza over to the couch and sets it on the coffee table. Jughead takes a piece and basically inhales it before reaching for another one.

“Wow you can really eat”

“Ya well there are few things I love in this world and one of those is food”

“What are the other things?” she asked

“Writing, books, certain people... I don’t know”

“I agree, those are some great things”

They continue eating and talking until the pizza is gone.

“Do you want another beer, or some water?” Jughead asks

“I’ll have some water thanks”

He goes to the kitchen, and opens the cabinet to look for a glass.

“Wow! You have quite the mug collection”

“Haha ya, they’re really fun to collect”

“Wow this one’s cool!” he says as he pulls out a Star Wars mug with the original movie poster on it.

“Ya, I got it at a thrift store, it’s one of my favorites”

“We could watch Star Wars if you want” she says

“That sounds great” He said, visibly excited

He got her water and grabbed his beer and walked back over to the couch where Betty was putting in the movie.

They watched the movie and didn’t do a lot of talking until it was over.

“Man I forgot how good that movie was” Jughead said

“Yeah, I could watch it all the time. I love having a stash of my favorite movies and shows to rewatch when I’m feeling down”

“Ya, binge watching is one of my specialties” he said smiling

“You know I never thought when we were 15 how similar we might be and now I feel like we really are” she said

“Ya, I haven’t had many friends except for Archie in my life until now, and that’s mostly just because I don’t relate to a lot of people, or they rub me the wrong way...but you are different”

“Thanks...you’re different too, in a good way. A lot of friends I have had in the past were very surface level, and to be honest, I feel like I can really trust you in a weird way even though we haven’t really known each other for that long” she said

“I feel the same way about you…”

Betty started tearing up and started to feel a little self conscious for doing so in front of Jughead

“Hey, what’s wrong?” he asked softly

She sniffed before gathering courage to keep talking and opening up “It’s just that I don’t think anyone has ever felt about me that way, and it makes me feel comfortable, and tonight is one of the only nights where I haven’t wanted to curl up in my bed and cry from anxiety”

“I’m sorry Betty I didn’t know you had anxiety that bad...” he thought for a couple moments “I hope you know that you can always talk to me, I’m here for you, and not just because Archie told me to be, I promise” he said sincerely

“Thank you Juggie” she said bringing back a slight smile

He moved slightly closer to her then on the couch so he could lightly put his arm around her, hoping to provide some comfort.

“I’m really glad we’re friends” she said

They talked for a while longer before deciding it was probably time for Jughead to go home

They both stood up, and Betty followed him to the door, he put his shoes on and was about to leave when Betty hugged him. He was in shock for only a moment before he hugged her back.

“Thanks for coming Juggie” she whispered before leaning back from his arms and smiling

“Anytime, I had a great night. I’ll see you soon, I promise we will spend more time together” he said before waving bye and turning down the hallway.

She watched him walk away and stood in the doorway for a couple moments longer before retreating back into her apartment.

She got in bed and was freezing because her heating wasn’t working in her bedroom. What is this place’s deal, she thought before getting up to grab a blanket from the couch. She stuffed it down under her comforter and crawled in. She pulled it up to snuggle. It smells like Jughead she thought before snuggling it in closer to her face and smiling as she fell asleep.
