Domestic Drabbles
Where their small daughter mistakes certain sounds for cries of distress.
Aemond x wife!reader
word count: 675
Tumblr media
Silken spun silver curled around your fingers as you dug them into your husband’s hair, pulling him in for another deep kiss as he moved against you.  His weight pushed you further into the plush mattress, warmth enveloping your body as you sighed in pleasure.
The wooden bed frame creaked with each thrust, your whimpers of pleasure barely muffled as you bit into Aemond’s shoulder.
“Māzigon issa jorrāelagon.”  His voice was liquid velvet as he coaxed you to come undone around him.
You cried your release to the vaulted ceiling, feeling Aemond’s hot seed spilling within your heat as your muscles clenched and fluttered.  You pulled him deeper, his forehead coming to rest against yours as you breathed together, gently coming back to earth.
Aemond trailed his lips to the hollow of your throat, his hands caressing the curve of your breast as he tasted your flushed skin.
Amidst the post-coital bliss, wrapped together in a tangle of limbs, you heard the muffled crying of your young daughter.
Together you and Aemond sat up in bed, glancing at each other as he slid smoothly from the mattress, pulling on his clothing before striding with haste from your bedroom.
As you donned a satin robe, tying it securely about your waist, you heard Aemond’s soft voice several rooms away.
Minutes later he reentered the room, looking to you with a mixture of amusement and aggravation.
“Was it a nightmare?”  You asked, tilting your head in question of his prolonged silence.
Aemond shook his head slowly, a small smirk pulling his curved lips. “She is worried for you my dear.”
“Whatever for?”
“She says she heard you screaming and is scared for your well-being.”  You could see he was fighting to keep a stoic composure.
“Was I screaming?”  You ran a distracted hand through your tousled hair.
Aemond hesitated, glancing away from you, his mouth twitching. “I…uh, yes.”  His violet eye crinkled with mirth. “Perhaps you should go assure her you are unharmed.”
You nodded, brushing a kiss on his lips as you passed him into the darkened hallway.
“My darling, are you alright?”  You cooed, finding your silver-haired daughter curled upon her bed, still sniffling with widened eyes.
She reached her arms out to you, evident relief upon her cherub face. “I thought you were hurt!  Your door was closed and you wouldn’t answer me!”
You held you tight against your chest, rocking upon the small bed. “No, no.  I’m alright. I had a bad dream and your father was helping me.”
“O-oh.”  She hiccupped, still holding tight to your robe as you pulled back to look at her face.
“You don’t have to worry about me, my dove.”  You wiped the tears off her cheeks, helping her back under the covers and tucking her in. “When I’m with kepa, I am safe from harm.”
“He helps with your nightmares.”  She nodded, understanding.
You kissed her forehead tenderly. “Yes.  All better?”
“All better.”  Her eyelids were already beginning to close.
You waited for her breathing to deepen before exiting her room, closing the door softly behind you.
Aemond was waiting for you when you returned to your own chamber, he looked over at you with a quirked brow. “And?”
You sighed, shaking your head. “I thought she was asleep.”
“I wouldn’t be surprised if half the castle were awake by now.” He caught your wrist as you tried to hit his shoulder, pulling you in for a kiss. “Not that I’m complaining.”  He nuzzled your nose laughing as you scrunched it and giggled.
“In a little over a decade she is going to realize the truth and be traumatized.”
“She is going to know how deeply in love her parents are.”  Aemond captured your mouth once more, smiling against your lips as you sighed with pleasure. “Besides, we have plenty of time to work on your volume control.”
You giggled madly as Aemond rolled you beneath him, undoing the ties of your robe and spreading it open.  His eye glinted in the dim firelight as he straddled you, looking upon your form. “Now, my love, where were we?”

this particular paragraph has stuck with me since i read it. recontextualizes everything. joffrey as the aggregate of a thousand thousand acts of violence every single one of which he has seen an adult in his life be rewarded for. and joffrey as an open wound. and joffrey as little boy who wanted to make his father proud of him so he opened up some poor thing’s ribcage and stole its babies because when robert did this they called him a king and they called him a husband and a father. and joffrey as a little boy who got hit so hard the other adult in the room thought he died. and joffrey who gets remembered in this moment by his uncle who concludes from this story that maybe it is a good thing he got violently murdered after all because maybe there was just something inherently wrong with him. just heartrendingly bleak all around

drew very rough version of this one before seeing almost identical artwork of @sare11aa11eras... I liked the idea of stannis kissing davos' shortened hand too much, so i still finished it. i'm sorry 😞 i guess these two evoke very powerful hand kissing imagery in people's minds
something about romantic tongue cutting threats idk i don't get gay people 😁
thank you for your request it was very fun for me!!

in a perfect world instead of being in medieval fantasy times stannis would be in charge of analyzing data and writing briefs... he would still be unhappily married but mel would be targeting selyse fully and they would get a divorce so she and mel could more freely spread the word of theosophic protestantism. he would still have custody of shireen majority of the time but he lets cressen (his parent's butler who became his primary caretaker when they died alfred style) take care of her most of the time. he would still be insanely autistic but would have been diagnosed in early childhood and it would be a huge point of contention between him and robert because stannis would be one of those guys who is like "actually my autism makes me more intelligent than you since i can see through your blithe social norms to a more objective reality". he would still have found some reason or way to justify cutting off davos' fingers and they would still be in a crazy not-hr-approved workplace relationship. stannis is aware of his homosexuality but is unwilling to admit it and claims his collection of vintage honcho magazines is for archival purposes and/or demographic research ONLY. every night he would bring his laptop into bed with him and add another row to his absurdly long spreadsheet that notes if anyone was rude to him that day and who and then adds that data to his chart of enemies. and that would be his life

Inktober Day 3. Hellfire ✝️🔥
Aemond and his bastard son as Claude Frollo and little Quasimodo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. (Let's pretend Aemond lived to meet his baby boy.)
Why is little “Quasi” holding a toy dragon and not a gargoyle? Well, it’s simple. I couldn’t imagine Aemond’s kid holding anything other than a dragon plush. In my mind, Aemond actually bought a gargoyle plush for the little guy so they can match for Halloween but he’s his father's son through and through — he won’t let go of his Vhagar plushie 🥹

Hold on because you’ve got me thinking now. DO we think Bishop’s change in Fast Foward is genuine?
I think it might be, at least partially. Largely because of the episode ”Head of State” where he endangers his own life to rescue Stockman from the lab explosion/fire, it seems to reflect some degree of genuine character development. Also, when he is strung up in front of the turtles and talking about his time spent kidnapping and experimenting on aliens, he states “that was a different time in my life, not one that I’m proud of,” and his expression/reactions really seem genuine.
BUT, during that same sequence when he tells the story of how Stockman “went too far” and caused the lab to blow up the first time, he seems to place a lot of unnecessary blame on Stockman and does not own up to his own misdoings, which Ralph calls him out on. So I’m really not sure?
This ask reminded me I had a similar one in the drafts I just,, forgot about,,, BUT yeah I honestly do not buy that President Bishop's change is fully genuine, and that's detailed a bit more in that ask!
I'll agree that the rescue is a big point in his favor, though. Given the circumstances, Bishop was just severely retraumatized (strapped down on a lab table, preparing to be dissected,) so given he was probably acting under severe stress, his actions could easily be read as genuine. I definitely think there are ways to spin it to fit the interpretation that he hasn't changed, which I tend to go with in my own writing (and as such I won't detail too much, spoilers!) but it's very plausible Bishop chose to rescue Stockman in an attempt to make up for everything he'd done to him before, too. As Trauma pointed out to me, Bishop's rescue of Stockman in that scene directly mirrors the alien rescuing him in that same episode's flashback. That suggests this is Bishop paying it forward, in some sense.
I will say I do not buy that his guilt is genuine when he's describing his past actions, I very much find that to be an act. He refuses to describe the actual contents of what he did or why what he did was wrong, and continuously distances himself with his language ("I was a different person" and so on.) Paired with the fact that he has no qualms blaming Stockman and detailing what he did wrong, like you said, it comes of as VERY manipulative, to me. These are the tactics of someone who wants to be forgiven but isn't sorry. If you've seen a youtuber apology you've seen all these moves before.
In terms of Bishop's expressions, I always come back to the fact that he's a politician, and likely has been for a good few decades. He's in the public eye, and the success of his goals now directly hinges on how other people percieve him. It seems very likely to me that he's developed the skills to lie and persuade and come off as genuine in response.
But that's just my two cents! Honestly while the interpretation that he's still a monster deep down is my personal preference, it really can be read either way. Given the tone of FF, I do think we were intended to just take his redemption at face value. It's just that it's so much more fun when he's a liar!

There’s something weird I never noticed before. So in ASOS, Stannis tells Davos that he saw the upcoming battle against the Others in one of Melisandre’s fires.
The ashes were white, rising in the updraft, yet all at once it seemed as if they were falling. Snow, I thought. Then the sparks in the air seemed to circle, to become a ring of torches, and I was looking through the fire down on some high hill in a forest. The cinders had become men in black behind the torches, and there were shapes moving through the snow. For all the heat of the fire, I felt a cold so terrible I shivered, and when I did the sight was gone, the fire but a fire once again. But what I saw was real, I’d stake my kingdom on it.
- Davos IV, ASOS
The “men in black behind torches” seems to suggest Night’s Watchment who are in the process of confronting the Others (“shapes moving through the snow”). I think it’s quite interesting that there is a sort of Azor Ahai imagery with these men, as they hold burning torches.
But then as I was reading this passage, I was suddenly reminded of one of Patchface’s jingles.
“Under the sea, it snows up,” said the fool, “and the rain is dry as bone. I know, I know, oh, oh, oh.”
- Prologue, ACOK
And I got to thinking, it seems that Patchface and Stannis are seeing the same thing (snow “falling” upward). Stannis also sees snow falling downwards, which kind of evokes a cycle. We don’t really know exactly what Patchface saw since the entire section contains several broken up and vague “prophecies”.
But regarding what we do know, my initial assumption was that Patchface’s jingle was essentially about death and the rising of wights. But then I also considered that he could also be referring to Jon Snow who seemingly dies at the end of ADWD and might be resurrected in TWOW.
They found Her Grace sewing by the fire, whilst her fool danced about to music only he could hear, the cowbells on his antlers clanging. “The crow, the crow,” Patchface cried when he saw Jon. “Under the sea the crows are white as snow, I know, I know, oh, oh, oh.” Princess Shireen was curled up in a window seat, her hood drawn up to hide the worst of the greyscale that had disfigured her face.
- Jon XI, ADWD
P.S: Coincidentally, Jon would (more generally) be among the men in black presented in Stannis’ vision since he is a member of the Night’s Watch; these men are also referred to as crows.
And speaking of Jon, we know that Melisandre has received visions of Jon’s death and possible rebirth.
The flames crackled softly, and in their crackling she heard the whispered name Jon Snow. His long face floated before her, limned in tongues of red and orange, appearing and disappearing again, a shadow half-seen behind a fluttering curtain. Now he was a man, now a wolf, now a man again. But the skulls were here as well, the skulls were all around him. Melisandre had seen his danger before, had tried to warn the boy of it. Enemies all around him, daggers in the dark. He would not listen.
[…]
“What do you see, my lady?” the boy asked, softly. Skulls. A thousand skulls, and the bastard boy again. Jon Snow.
[…]
Yet now she could not even seem to find her king. I pray for a glimpse of Azor Ahai, and R’hllor shows me only Snow.
- Melisandre I, ADWD
So Mel is seeing Jon in danger, but the “now he was a man, now a wolf, now a man again” seems to suggest that he will return. She has tried to rely this information to Jon and we get a rather funny exchange, where Jon assumes that the “snow” Mel is talking about is frozen rain.
“And what of Mance? Is he lost as well? What do your fires show?”
“The same, I fear. Only snow.”
Snow. It was snowing heavily to the south, Jon knew. Only two days’ ride from here, the kingsroad was said to be impassable. Melisandre knows that too. And to the east, a savage storm was raging on the Bay of Seals. At last report, the ragtag fleet they had assembled to rescue the free folk from Hardhome still huddled at Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, confined to port by the rough seas. “You are seeing cinders dancing in the updraft.”
- Jon X, ADWD
Note: I searched “updraft” and got this definition: “an upward current of air.”
Jon thinks Mel is talking about the very literal snow moving upward(?) in the air, but she says,
“I am seeing skulls. And you. I see your face every time I look into the flames. The danger that I warned you of grows very close now.”
Not snow, but Snow.
And just a final (random) thought to wrap this all up,
“One bird croaking my name was bad enough,” said Jon, “and snow’s nothing a black brother wants to hear about.” Snow often meant death in the north.
- Jon II, ACOK
Hmmm 🤔
