What is a hobby?

For me, I want to approach it as creative recreation, as I've had little to no time to be creative just for the sake of it, the joy of it!

And that's just SAD, so putting the 'side hustle' aside - because we have all been sold the turn your side hustle into a cash cow for the last few years and that kills it when you are also doing a 9 to 5 you (for the most part) enjoy.

This year my plan is to lean into my 9-5 (learning to relove that, but that's a story for another time) while putting time back into being creative, through photography, through making and doodling and experimenting over 2024 and posting that here, where it all began.

I say that as I started this Tumblr in 2007, when Pinterest was invite-only and Instagram a dream to come, this little free slice of the internet was an exciting place to gather cool things and share what you were doing, so 2024 is the year of more of that ✌🏼

does anyone remember when you would get an email from tumblr when you reached a milestone like "wow you just hit 50k notes, that's a lot of liking things you've done!" and other such nonsense. wish I still got those

So I haven't been on here since 2015, What has changed? what's new? what's the same? Does anyone still use Tumblr? Is there still all that porn? let’s find out! I’m just here for pictures for my art stuff. ill probably reblog a tiny bit, Probably what I will using. As type of credit. I will most likely post some stuff but not much.

I remember back when I first got on tumblr in, like, 2009 or 2010 and all I really saw was text posts. Now I only see photos. How do I see more text posts? Does no one really write on Tumblr anymore?

I remember the OG days of Tumblr.

When the owner was ‘Daddy’ and if he posted, everyone would reblog. every other post was a 1D fan fic, one shot or smut. Everyone was sad, black and white skins GIFs was the aesthetic to have. Of some picture of a pail girls arm with some flowers on it with a depressing quote over the whole thing. And every EVERY gif set had captions! I mean you still see them from time to time, but not like back in 2012. I mean phew! Every one! Even if the caption wasn’t from that scene/show. It was crazy! XD X) :D XP :P where all acceptable (really showing my age with that one. lol) And PORN! Everything had porn. Every page, all kinds, every page had someones naked something on it. I remember when Yahoo bought Tumblr and eveyryone freaked. Like everyone. They thought the site would turn purple. That was funny. Oh! And who remembers how everyone had custom cursors, scroll bars and music! Like why did every page need to have a soundtrack? Now I’m not knocking everyone who had one. My page had all three. lol. I remember it. My page was so pretty! my theme was beautiful. I felt like Mr. Robot getting that page to where it was! I miss og Tumblr (maybe not the porn tho. lol #pureboi)

tumblr as an adult

hello?? are any of my followers still out there? lol ive been so far removed from tumblr, honestly im just glad the basics are the same so i can navigate.  

i made my tumblr account when i was 15 and the accounts i followed i have noticed have changed content (free living hipster to porn accounts--yikes!) so i guess im allowed to do the same, right?

15 year old me was a silly heartbroken confused little girl. and now im grown, age wise and mentally, and honestly i came back on tumblr to connect my poshmark account to it lol but i also now have a career, serious relationship, crafting hobby, travel with my friends...kind of feel like im living the life of all the blog posts i used to think were staged?? no those things really are achievable! 

not sure what direction i plan to use this tool in my life now. maybe just for some of the comical posts and nothing more. regardless, IM BACK BABY!

ok, cards on the table... yes, I do miss the old ‘vibe’ of Tumblr. Back years ago (3 reincarnations of this blog ago) Back when it honestly did feel more like a community, more like a cool place to pop in and visit like minded weirdos, a place to get inspired and motivated and share. And perhaps ‘historical revisionism’ has me by the throat... and it wasn’t actually any better, but I think it was... maybe?

Anyhoooo... to the OGTumblr crew, especially those that have followed me through the blog/delete blog/new blog/delete/new blog shitnanigans... I appreciate you, adore you, value you, cherish you, and find inspiration from you every single day... cheers to the blogs that have left and found greener pastures, the blogs that push the boundaries, the blogs that create their own content, blogs that make you think, blogs that make you laugh, blogs that you have crushes on, blogs that support and advocate and promote and every blog in between. long distance high fives to you all!
