Aaahh, I found a Dutch fan cover of Just Look My Way, now titled as Kijk Naar Mij (Look At Me).

I'm literally dying here at the way this guy translated the song, on top of his beautiful singing voice and emotions he put into it (I do prefer the original, but hey, that's a high bar to pass).

Dutch HB fans are so talented, I'm going insane!! I'm a officially a goner, it was nice knowing y'all!

I want to share some of my fave parts that are (slightly) different from the original, but in all the good ways!

Original: Yet I find myself drawn from that path on those dazzling moonlit nights. Dutch: Maar de maan toont mij een ander pad waarmee jij mij hebt verleid. Translation: But the moon shows me another path with which you tempted me.

Original: But dearest, I know better now. I must give you this choice. Dutch: 't Is moeilijk, maar belangrijk, lief. Jouw vrije wil is wet. Translation: It's difficult, but important, love. Your free will is law.

Original: I don't care that you're of lower station, or primed to sate my dark temptations. Why can't you understand? Let me explain. Dutch: Ik geef niks om ons verschil in status, dat het voor wederkeer te laat is. Hoe overtuig ik jou? Het moet zo zijn. Translation: I don't care about our difference in status, that's it's too late to return. How do I convince you? It has to be like this.

Original: What's left for me, and my broken heart, if I cannot have you? Dutch: Wie ben ik nu, en wat ben ik waard, als ik jou niet verdien? Translation: Who am I now, and what am I worth, if I don't deserve you?

Stolas also calls Blitz "schat" when he's singing about wanting to keep him close, which is a term of endearment literally meaning "treasure". A detail the guy who made the video didn't have to add, because the original doesn't have a term of endearment there, but it's appreciated nonetheless!

I've decided I will try my hand at trying to get a celebration of Kaiba going for Valentine's Day. Consider this a tiny test drive for maybe a Kaiba month prompt list in October.

Now it feels like we’re celebrating the 25th Anniversary 😍

This new art for an upcoming collaboration with Karatez is just simply stunning. The theme is (very obviously) “idol” and I personally love the futuristic pop concept they’ve added to the outfits. Although exact date and merch details haven’t been shared yet, they shared a few layouts of the key art.

The outfits are also great this time around because of their little references to the partner Digimon’s Perfect evolutions. Listing them down one by one as always.

Taichi: The blue markings on his jacket plus robotic arm markings on his right sleeve are a nice shoutout to MetalGreymon.

Yamato: We see WereGarurumon’s pattern on his jacket and a few belts wrapped around his hands that captures the punk-grunge vibe of WereGarurumon well. It may be Yamato’s affinity to music, but he looks extremely in his element in this art, it’s not often we see him so raring to go in official merch art (he’s more of a soft smiles guy usually).

Sora: Her gloves and the red bandana on her arm coupled with the feather in her hair are clear shoutouts to Garudamon. It’s kinda funny to me that being the girl who’s crest is a heart symbol, she’s making a victory sign while Mimi and Hikari are both making different types of finger hearts 😆

Koushiro: Honestly they were really subtle with the reference for him and even twitter couldn’t exactly answer my doubts so I’m gonna have to see Koushiro stans step up and answer whether the reference in his outfit limited to the markings on his jacket resembling AtlurKabuterimon’s chest?

Mimi: I think she’s the one with the most easy to catch references, her skirt resembles Lilymon’s and her hair tie looks like Lilymon’s flower canon. I love that she’s making the big finger heart because it’s just so very Mimi. If Yamato suits the passionate side of being an idol, Mimi is definitely meant for the cutesy visual vibe that can make fans go crazy over just a wink and a smile.

Jou: He’s wearing three belt like bracelets around one wrist like Zudomon which makes his a minimal reference though not as subtle as Koushiro’s. I do feel that they could’ve done a bit more with his look, maybe add a horn to the side of his headset? I also can’t wait to see the full art for each kid individually cuz I do think him and Yamato are wearing similar bellbottom pants!

Takeru: The feather on his headset and the yellow suspended straps are a decent reference to HolyAngemon. Considering that they wanted to keep the outfits limited to one colour per kid, I think this is the best way they could slip in the reference, though I wouldn’t have minded a few rings.

Hikari: The feather on the headset, the corset-ish belt around her waist and her gloves are very nice references to Angewomon. Keeping Hikari’s innocence as a kid intact while referencing a Digimon that is undoubtedly considered one of the most sexiest mons in the franchise would have been really tough and I salute the illustrators for coming up with this design! I also like the OG Korean finger heart she’s making, such a cute look on her.

The cherry on top are each of the Digimon partners holding supportive cheering goods for their kids. Piyomon’s love for Sora goes hard with her big name banner. Meanwhile, Agumon and Palmon kept it simple with haoris, Tailmon and Patamon too decided to go the simple route with light sticks. Gabumon, Gomamon and Tentomon seem normal from afar with their hand fans but when you get a closer look on all the hearts around Koushiro’s name on Tentomon’s fan, you know the three spent time making those themselves.

All in all, a pretty amazing illustration to be able to get merch of!

But wait that’s not all, andGallery has also teased a future cafe collaboration with Digimon Adventure on their twitter, more info will be announced on 19th Feb but they did share a preview of what to expect.

Hello, it's Ni again with a little idea in mind: What if we start breaking the comfort zone and trying the most difficult part of Digimon writing/arting? Yes, the digimon.

I'm making this post an encouragement for you to start trying something new and expand your skills -- I'll share some of the tips I've been using for a whole decade when it comes to writing and drawing digimon with their human partners.

Bear with Ni!!

For writing:

My method is: making any inner monologue into a conversation and letting the digimon complete, elaborate, or comment on the human partner's lines.

The technique of the former has been observed by some people that this is basically what happens in-series (at least in Adventure/02 material) -- all of that planned inner monologue you had planned for the character? turn it into a conversation with the digimon. There's so little inner thoughts depicted in Adventure and 02 BUT there's a ton of little exchanges between the human with their partner. It also helps that in Adventure & 02, the digimon are somewhat an "other self" of the children, so they basically know them enough to point out when they're hesitant, nervous, angry, embarrassed or happy.

It also helps that certain digimon partners like Daisuke's V-mon, Jou's Gomamon and Wallace's Gummymon/Terriermon have no filter and try to encourage their partners by either roasting them by sheer accident. Remember, the digimon are extremely honest when it comes to their partners feelings, they can spot a lie pretty easily. So why not write Taichi saying a lie to hide something and Agumon innocently commenting aloud that that was a lie?

The latter technique is my own personal flavor. I'll give you an example: Daisuke is explaining his delicious new ramen recipe, and V-mon adds some commentaries like a TV announcer on TV commercials by saying "And there's more!" "Look at this delicious ramen broth!" "It's 100% approved by the customers!"

The digimon usually tends to put extra emphasis on what their partner is saying, or they make little comments! Or even, they might elaborate or complete phrases as well. The reverse can happen too, of course. Think about stuff like Happy Smile, 2-TOP, Fly High, HEY-Rasshai!, Forever Adolescence, etc songs where they have a little talk between the songs, or are bickering, or are completing the others’ lines.

For Drawing:

This part is a little more trickish, but here we go. Let’s watch a few shots of Digimon anime/movies and analyze how they depict the kids interacting with their digimon.

Since Tailmon is small, Hikari crouches to her eye level in order to talk with her in Kizuna. Note that this is how you can have both in the same scene/shot when Tailmon is not in Hikari’s arms. You need to plan where to place the digimon in your art, by knowing its size in-series, which form you want to feature in the picture, and where to place them.

For the celebration of Hunters’ final episode 10th Anniversary in 2022, The Digimon Web profile on twitter posted this illust of Gumdramon and Tagiru. Note that Gumdramon is the main star of the composition and Tagiru is behind him, as if he was commanding Gumdramon in a battle.

Now, some personal examples from my own art, to show how I deal with this:

This composition plays with the idea of a selfie. Gumdramon is being held by Tagiru here.

Middle Schooler Daisuke & Chibimon meets Kiyoshiro & Jellymon. The interaction between them is Daisuke and Chibimon looking at Kiyocchi’s hand, which is also the exact arm Jellymon is tied to.

Now, for bigger mons: Know their size and how to place them in the scenario, like Angoramon is here in this official art:

Since Angoramon is bigger than Jellymon and Gammamon, they decided to place him and Ruli behind the other two pairs. You can see this composition shows an interesting dynamic between them and also Jellymon on top of Kiyoshiro’s head.

Remember: the bigger the evolution/form you want to depict with their human partner, the more trickish might be. But don't worry! I trust you to figure it out! You can do it!!

I hope this post can help people, those observations and tips really helped me once and are still helping me when working on digi-stuff ;v;

Finally making a post with all my Digimon merch! It looks like a lot, but that’s mostly because a lot of these photos are the same items from different angles. Also please ignore the Pokemon, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Ace Attorney stuff mixed in. Those being my other main fandoms, lol.

Things of note:

- That blue embroidered pillow was made for me by one of my best friends, so it’s one of a kind. I love it so much

- The thing in the background of the last photo is a blanket I got on redbubble, and please look at that tiny little Ikkakumon cup. It’s like 1/3 of a shot glass lmao and I forgot to add it to the photo with all the similar merch, but I felt like it needed to be seen

- Daisuke’s D3 was my first ever piece of official Digimon merch, followed by Ruki’s digivice. The only other “real” digivice is that clear one I bought years later. The rest are all from various Etsy shops I got for cosplay over the years.

- I am frustratingly missing Mimi from that one ancient set of figures. If anyone happens to have that Mimi and are willing to sell it, I would happily negotiate a price.

- I’m sorry the itabag is atrocious looking. I tried to stuff too many keychains into it and it’s uhhhh too much.

- Not pictured: I have Sora’s crest and Ken’s crest, but they are mixed in with my cosplay stuff and I didn’t feel like finding them. You can see Jou’s crest in the itabag, and there’s a special Crest of Miracles you can see mixed in with the Digivices.

- if there’s any unofficial merch you’re curious about, just ask and I can try to find the shop I originally bought it from. Some of them were a long time ago and are no longer around.

for some reason i thought genba was way taller? but actually he's the shortest male member of the group 😭 i knew that saito (jou's actor) was on the taller side but what i didn't know is that taiya's actor is the same height as he is ?!?!

according to their official agency profiles, ishiro's actor is 1cm taller than genba's actor (176 vs 177)

they are very similar heights it's just that genba's HAIR makes him look TALLER

Here's just a fun little question, and you can ignore this if you want, but how do you think the Yugi group would respond to finding a stray puppy or stray kitten?

Oh I love this!

Yugi: I think Yugi would at first try to see if he could find the owners. He would want to make sure that if this baby had a loving family that he would get to return to that place, even if he has grown attached and it would be heartbreaking. But when it's official that the kitten (or puppy) was in fact a stray, he would adopt him immediately! They would be inseparable. I'm going with a kitten here for this take but, Yugi is working in the game shop and this little creature is just always chilling on his shoulder or is following him around like a little shadow.

Jounouchi: I think Jou would at first look for its family, but this would last all of an hour and a half before Jou just goes well we tried! Guess you're coming home with me! Jounouchi would take them with him everywhere! He would constantly be showing him off like, look at this little guy! He likes to play tug o war, and he steals my food constantly. He's great! Jou would also try his hardest to take on the responsibility of pet ownership without any help, even though he has no idea what he is doing. He does absolutely panic one evening when the little guy starting making a weird breathing sound and he knows he fucked up some how. He runs to Honda who just laughs like "hey he's good man! That's just reverse sneezing, it happens a lot. Just stroke their back and they're good."

Honda: He would be going through all the proper channels. Ok, let's check for a tag. Vet visit is scheduled, proper diet is ready to go. He has been training for this moment his whole life! Though, I am torn between he would give this guy up for adoption or not with the case of Blankey. Definitely depends on how animal friendly she is. He would definitely be on top of that slow introduction, making sure not to stress either animal out. He would be honestly best one to find and care for a stray.

Anzu: I think she would also be on top of making sure that they had the proper vet care, though she absolutely did not look for the owners. That is her baby now.

Bakura: He also took them home, he already has three so whats another one! He absolutely brings in strays and helps get them back on their feet. Are they sometimes a bit feral? Absolutely. But that's the charm. Who doesn't want an animal that you can only pet a total of 3 times before being scratched?

Mokuba/Seto: Mokuba is the one who rescues it. Brings it home, is caught feeding them by Kaiba who is immediately telling him no, absolutely not! It has to go. But look at him nii-sama! He doesn't have anywhere else to go! Please let him stay! Kaiba let's Mokuba keep him but he has to take care of it. He wants nothing to do with it. But Mokuba sees slowly how Kaiba is the one checking on them. Making sure it has everything. Kaiba is buying them toys and places for it to climb and hide (it leaves me alone this way). Mokuba has definitely caught Kaiba on more than one occasion, late at night, sitting with them in his lap. Reading to them, smiling softly as they cuddle closer.
