Deer-ic let’s go! Emperor, Chariot, Tower (aside from the Mindflayers), and Star!
Kairi! Empress, Wheel of Fortune, Moon, and World!
major arcana asks! |
Diric 04.  the emperor  :  how much respect does your muse have for authority ? why is this ? Diric and authority is...complicated. He values individual opinions and abilities far over institutional; for example, during the Talisman's time in Blackthorn, Diric was very uncomfortable playing the political game despite being very familiar with it, but trusted Teran to be able to give the party an in for meeting with the house heirs. Similarly in a military situation, Diric was more willing to trust General Dagon because of his reputation than the entire military apparatus. This probably stems from being the kid hidden in a closet for most of his youth: society said he, as a half-drow, was lesser than any full-blooded drow despite his mother's high rank or any ability he himself could develop to win himself honor/prestige. Alyrinda (probably intentionally but moderately well-meaning) reinforced this, and it was the worldview Diric joined the army with. Clearly with his enslavement and time passing it's lessened as a Particular Burn but he can probably still be poked there and not react well.
07.  the chariot  :  how much does your muse care about winning ? are they a sore loser ? If I were playing pre-mindflayer-capture Dir, this mans would be insufferable as a competitor. "Winning" would mean promotion, recognition, all the things he craved in his young adulthood. It would mean he could try escaping the societal black mark of his mixed heritage. VERY sore loser in this period of his life. But I'm not playing pre-capture Dir, am I? Where there is no structure, no goal except another day so making a competition out of it doesn't make any sense. Now if put in a competitive situation some of those old tics might reappear, but I couldn't guarantee it until it's happening.
16.  the tower  :  what event drastically changed your muse’s life ? do they resent that event or are they glad of it ? ASIDE from Seventy Years A Thrall, probably the next biggest formative event for Diric would be his first and only command position. Where he was tasked with capturing a duergar war camp and got nearly everyone under him killed due to a mix of bad intelligence and pressure Diric put on himself to Do It Right Because He's In Charge. The entire mess is why he tries to not gravitate into positions of leadership UNLESS he senses it's needed (*stares at Talisman recruitment which also Haunts Him*); the entire debacle really kickstarted his inferiority complex and crushed most of his original hopes and dreams of being a Person of Consequence in Blackthorn. I don't know if he's glad or resentful of it now; it's something that just happened and Diric knows, to a degree, it keeps echoing back to him because it was his fault it went so wrong.
17.  the star  :  what does your muse take inner comfort in knowing ? what guides your muse ? It's more recently that he can let himself take comfort in that...I don't want to say he has a lack of importance to the Talisman, but that he's not as important as he thought? Which in one way is kinda. Soul-crushing for him because Diric's pushed himself so hard for the group, because they're the closest thing to a family that matches what he knows a family should be. But on the other hand it means he can take a step back and kind of let go of that drive, especially knowing the next few things they have to do are absolutely, 100% beyond Diric's own comfort zone. He's probably the very last of the Talisman (excluding Cai) to get a grip on the Divine Support Train, and most of that because of what he's seen the party capable of doing. The Talisman are his guide. It's because of them Diric is even still alive. He's still in a major personal reconstruction phase and I don't think it'll even be very settled before we head to the Shadowfell. He'll need all the comfort he can get.
Kairi 03.  the empress  :  does your muse have parental / nurturing figures in their life ? how do they impact them ? Ah the joy of being an orphaned street child where you had to be the parental figure for your kid brother. Kai doesn't remember her parents, and probably one of her first memories is stealing food from a market stall in Mordeep to tend to her brother because he was sick at the time. Probably the closest thing she has is an idealized vision of Zariel, whom Kai is descended from and she didn't know of until she joined the blood hunters of Brightkeep. Kai's Zariel is a fusion of both the divine and infernal (as compared to the seething unrelenting rage of actual Zariel), holy purpose twisted by damned determination. Obviously Zariel's not exactly a nurturing figure but this ideal of her gave Kai a path forward as a blood hunter, and although Kai doesn't worship Zariel per se there is a slight veneration when Kai invokes her more advanced abilities.
10.  the wheel of fortune  :  how well / badly does your muse take setbacks on their goals ? With Kai's mixed station of blood hunter representative and an agent for the Regent, her goals tend to align with those affiliations - except, perhaps, a little bit in the present, where said regent knowing Adolin Liarin is also investigating the Champion of Talos would be very messy so Kai is definitely not sharing that. She tends to recover well from setbacks - perks from being a practiced thief, you either get it done or you fuck up badly enough to get out - and even keeps her eyes open for mistakes opening fresh opportunities.
18.  the moon  :  what does your muse long for ? is it a realistic desire ? As a temporary character and having not played her long enough to get a solid sense of what she wants, I don't get a strong sense of Kai longing for anything. Maybe in a different campaign she'd find out her brother is alive (she thinks he's dead from the last thieving job they pulled; she was captured and sent to the blood hunters as punishment/rehab) and try to find him. But atm, no major longings except maybe for Rowan to have several chill pills.
21.  the world  :  is there one thing in life that your muse must accomplish ? what will they do when they complete that goal ? MUST accomplish, nah, Kai's not a long-term sort. She's more about those eerie-ass developments over an increasingly eerie-ass day. Though it's an unspoken goal of hers to get the stick out of Rowan's ass somewhat permanently.

Winds of Change OCs
(under construction)
Aisha
Aisha was born on Kyoshi Island and was raised by her mother, who used to be a fire nation soldier, and her father, who used to be a water tribe warrior. She grew up right alongside her best friends Suki and Mingxia and with much prodding and insistence they convince her to join the Kyoshi warriors. But the other townsfolk never saw Aisha and her family as anything other than outsiders and she knew that.
She knew that they would stare at the color of her skin darker than theirs and see the color of her eyes and flinch at what people with those eyes have done to the world. No matter how much her parents and friends tried to spare her from it, Aisha has lived her whole life feeling like she didn't belong and she was used to it.
Although it was nice for a time when Aisha would pull on the uniform and put on the warrior's paint of the Kyoshi warriors, when she would stand as part of the girls and not feel like she stood out. That was the only time where she felt like she belonged, like she wasn't floundering out alone in the world. But every time she took the uniform and paint off she was reminded that this was temporary and that she would never truly be earth kingdom.
Aisha knew if anyone took the time to look at her properly they wouldn't know what Aisha was or where she belonged and the kicker was…neither did she.
Tumblr media
Himari
Grew up in the Fire Nation Colonies but when her parents abandoned her as a baby she was taken in and raised by someone from the Earth Kingdom. She learned in Fire Nation schools but was taught Earth Kingdom ways and began to see herself as Earth Kingdom and not the Nation in which she's from. It wasn't long before she hated the Fire Nation for all that they did to the Earth Kingdom and her adopted parents and wanted nothing to do with the place.
Tumblr media
Kahir
Kahir never liked being a warrior or fighting or war in general. He hated the thought of hurting people and saw all the pain that war had wrought especially since his father died in the war. After that it was just him and his mom and he didn't want to leave her behind too. But the northern water tribe doesn't ask what you want to do. If you are a man you learn to become a warrior and defend your tribe and if you're a woman you become a healer. Kahir wasn't the only one upset about this.
He was always looked down upon for being the weakest warrior of the North Water Tribe. A lack of eagerness when it came to fighting made it hard to excel at combat especially when he didn't want to train in the first place. It all came to a head on the day of the siege where when faced with the opportunity to fight and defend his tribe Kahir turned away and hid. Only later did he find out that Kairi, his best friend, had hidden herself in the uniform of the warrior and gone to fight instead. And when he found her in the healing huts Kahir was distraught he couldn't do anything to help her.
After the battle Kahir was labeled a coward and Kairi a liability as well as both breaking the sacred traditions of the north.
Tumblr media
Kairi
Kairi had always wanted to be a warrior. Growing up hearing the stories the warriors were the ones all the tales were about. They were the ones who contributed the most to the tribe and were the bravest and most noble. She had been raised to think that being a warrior is the best thing one can do, the only problem being that she was a woman.
They refused to train Kairi to be a warrior instead she was expected to learn healing which she found to be boring and less important while Kahir, her best friend, was forced to train as a warrior which he despised. But after every training he would teach her what they taught him and Kairi would practice on her own every moment she could, wanting to be the best warrior no matter what anyone else said.
Then the day of the siege came where the fire nation broke through their walls and Kairi was ready; she donned the paint and the uniform of the warriors and took Kahirs place on the battle field. Only she wasn't as ready as she thought... Kairi fought as best as she could but with all she thought she learned she didn't stand a chance against the fire nation soldiers and almost lost an eye as well as her life.
After the battle Kairi was labeled a liability and Kahir a coward as well as both breaking the sacred traditions of the north.
Tumblr media
Ryuu
Was born in the Earth Kingdom but rescued by a Fire Nation soldier when he was a baby. The soldier's wife had just had a miscarriage and to avoid the shame of saying she failed to give birth he decided he would take the Earth Kingdom baby and call it their own. But despite Ryuu's origins they raised him and loved him as their own, although never quite forgetting where he came from.
When the Ryuu was still young his father died fighting in the war his mother moved the both of them to blank island and stressed to him that he was never to fight in the war no matter what. Thankfully being so far away from the main land Ryuu grew up rather ignorant of the war, being able to focus on going to school and learning how to be a proper Fire Nation citizen instead.
That was until he discovered his true origins after accidentally bending some rock that was going to fall on his mother. Finding out that he had been lied to his whole life and desperate to find out where he really came from, Ryuu decided to travel to the Earth kingdoms in hopes that he would learn more about who he really is.

next up, the parents!
Tumblr media
as i said last time, jecht is the mayor of destiny island, and effectively the world's ruler. so when a child from another world washed up, he took her in and made sure that both this mystery girl and his own son both would uphold world order. but they could at least talk amongst themselves at home about where kairi could be from.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sora's parents, hikaru and suna, help out around town with all sorts of things, though primarily hikaru is a fisherman and suna does woodworking. they each wear a broken piece of a wayfinder suna made for hikaru before they got married that was damaged when hikaru was caught in a storm. but he made it home safely (and he swears up and down it was thanks to her).
riku's parents, kasumi and iwao, aren't as outgoing as hikaru and suna, but still do their part. kasumi often leads town meetings with a patient yet firm approach to listening to each concern. and iwao is a jeweler, and the necklace kasumi wears was the first thing he ever made on his own. he's still embarrassed by it, but she wears it with pride.

Okay I don't think I've shown that bat oc but imma introduce her anyway-
Her name is Kairi and she runs a very successful wine business in the old faith. She's like, the cuntiest lady you'll ever meet and she will absolutely spoil the ever living hell outta her spouses. (I have already thrown her at multiple other people's ocs in the server we're in for the shits n giggles)
Then we have my silly bastard Vex being a stuck up asshole and getting annoyed while they were "working" (doodling shamura instead of doing the thing they asked them to do). I think they would've been very spoiled by Shamura and, as a result, became pretty entitled and bratty towards those they deemed to be below them.
And lastly we got my bitch ass Kallamar clutching his pearls in his dream based on a tiktok I saw recently ✨️✨️✨️

The Dance of Steel and Shadows
Summary:
Captain Kairi is the user of the devil fruit the blink blink fruit and has found herself on Trafalgar Law's list of pirates to steal their heart from for him to be granted the rank of warlord of the sea.
This is a Law x OC
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5
*Word count: 1371*
Captain Kairi led the pirate crew the Echoing Phantoms from the island of Mu Echo Isles. Kairi and her crew don't chase riches or the legendary one-piece but rather their treasure is the stolen history of their island. Heirlooms that were taken from her island that rot in museums and homes of nobles who spread fabricated tales of the tragic extinction of her people.
Due to Kairi's undesired for riches and power her efforts as a pirate are often overlooked and underestimated which only granted this crew a bounty of 15 million berries placed on only the captain's head which is a small price compared to the other fearsome pirates who roam the grand line. But whispers were often fickle things, easily swayed by gold and ignorance. The truth, buried beneath the surface like a forgotten heirloom, was far more intriguing.
Kairi and her all-female crew of 20 had docked on an island where their next heist would take place but decided to rest for the night and party at the nearby tavern. Kairi sat at the bar next to her first mate carefully watching her crew mingle with the other patrons of the tavern. As she savored the moment of peace in a smoky tavern, the air crackled with an unseen tension.
Trafalgar Law, the Surgeon of Death sat in the back of the tavern while his crew mingled with the Phantom Pirates. He had known her next target would be this island museum. Law was on his own mission to collect 100 hearts of Pirate captains who roam the Grand Line to earn the rank of warlord with the world government. Once Kairi turned her back to wave the bartender down for another drink Law stood up ready for his attack. His blue room covered the tavern his finger twitched to call his 'scalpel' and aimed toward the unaware captain.
Law's power pushed through the room toward his target but when the cube of the 'scaple' reached the bar it was filled with a piece of the wooden counter the captain had once sat Kairi had vanished. Her first mate jumped back in surprise seeing the piece of the bar floating in a blue cube and her captain missing. Law's eyes slightly widened in surprise but were short-lived as the fierce captain reappeared above him with her sword aiming downwards toward his chest.
Law was able to jump out of the way of the blade barely in time as he watched the captain embed her blade into the floor of the tavern. A stunned silence as all eyes landed on the two captains locking eyes. The two crews who roamed the bar reached for their weapons ready for a fight while the patrons fled.
Kairi pulled her heavy sword out from the ground of the tavern and pointed it threateningly at the Surgeon of Death. "And who are you?" Kairi demanded, her voice as sharp as the blade in her hand sending chills down the onlookers.
Law refused to answer but rather he smirked as a challenge glinted in his eye before he lunged at the woman but Kairi had vanished. Her Blink-Blink Fruit had given her a power that allowed her to move at a speed where if you blink you may miss it. She reappeared behind him and with a swift kick, sent him stumbling. Law, now angered, swung his sword as he spun around only to meet empty air as Kairi had seemingly teleported again, this time she reappeared from above ready to slash her attacker. With a sly maneuver, Law swapped himself with a nearby chair, leaving Kairi to strike the unyielding wood.
The two crews had entered their own brawl with swords clashing, and fists pounding. the Phantom Pirates were known for their agility and grace, their movements mimicked practiced dancers but with the strength of warriors.
Law began to push himself off the floor where the chair he shambled himself with once lay. Kairi saw the moment of weakness and was on him like a cat. She kicked his side forcing him to fall to his back before she dug her boot into his chest pinning him to the floor, she held his chin up with her cold sword, "What do you want, Trafalgar Law?" Her cold voice demanded.
Law laughed, "Oh, so you do know who I am. If you know who I am then surely you know what I am here to do." he smirked as a figure moved in the corner of his eye before twitching his fingers, "Shambles".
Law's form was replaced by Kairi's first mate who looked up terrifyingly at her captain. Kairi swiftly pulled herself off her mate distracted by the switch as Law took his advantage and sent everything skyward with his "Tact". Chairs and tables now flew in circles above them unforgivingly hitting everything in their path. Law smirked evilly at the chaos as he pulled his sword to his cheek with both hands gearing up his next move.
Kairi grunted as she dodged out of the way of Law's "Injection Shot", She rolled on the ground as she watched Law make contact with a floating chair causing it to explode. Cursing, Kairi Launched herself up and at Law, their swords clashed and echoed through the tavern drawing the attention of the crews.
To onlookers, they were a whirlwind of steel, their movement defied comprehension as they both vanished and reappeared using their devil fruit abilities. The two crews slowed their fights to watch their captains go toe-to-toe with someone of equal speed and precision and sight neither crew had witnessed.
"Your bounty does not reflect your skill, Miss Kairi." Law chuckled as he deflected a blow.
Kairi twisted away from his next swing, "I am not in the same bracket as the victims you collect hearts from!" she yelled as she surged towards him pointing her sword toward his chest, Law sidestepped and grabbed her from behind locking his arms under her and keeping her in place.
"Clearly," he growled in her ear, but before he could overpower her, she slammed her head into his chin allowing her to slip free and fall to the floor, sweeping at his legs, forcing him to jump back. He wiped the blood trickling down his chin, a grim smile playing on his lips.
"So Miss Kairi Why the low bounty, then?" he taunted.
Kairi laughed, "Because I am a Woman!" with a newfound anger she launched herself at him and disappeared before reappearing directly in front of him and digging her sword into his right shoulder.
She pushed her entire body onto his chest and leaned into his ear, "And it is Captain Kairi." She kicked herself off his chest and pulled her sword out of him causing him to scream holding his bloody shoulder. Law fell to his knees panting which caused the entire bar to fall silent. Law's first mate Bepo was the first to run to his captain's aid but only to be stopped by his icey glare demanding him to stay back.
Kairi stood triumphant, her sword a chilling reminder, "I employ you to leave and not attempt my life again. The only reason you are walking out of this alive is that I have allowed it." she ordered menacingly.
Law snarled but realized he had lost the battle and took down his "room" which caused everything that was once in the air to fall to the ground. Law gestured to his crew who all began to walk out of the back with minimal injuries compared to Kairi's crew. "You are right you are not like the other pirates I am after." he pushed his way up and began to follow his crew out. "Captain Kairi," he spoke once more turning to face her. "I look forward to our next fight." He whips around before disappearing out of the bar.
Kairi's crew stood proudly the all-woman crew had beaten the mostly male crew of the heart pirates. Law words rang through Kairi's ears, this wouldn't be the last time she saw this man but she couldn't help the surge of curiosity and excitement to meet him again.

“Kingdom Hearts being an epic slow burn gay romance would be incredibly impactful to people both personally and as a landmark in queer representation by extremely popular and established characters. It has decades of legitimate buildup and has the potential to be both incredibly validating to queer fans everywhere and even possibly sway the minds of those who love the characters but may not have much contact or knowledge of queerness.”
and
“The Kingdom Hearts series is honestly kind of unique in its unabashed emotional sincerity. How it treats friendships and non-romantic bonds as being both extremely important and powerful, never giving the impression that friendship is lesser to romance, is depressingly still somewhat of a rarity in media. This is very important and validating to many, particularly aromantics but also most everyone who is just Tired of how friendships and romance are often presented in tiers of importance.”
are concepts that can and should co-exist.
#like i get it. there really is nothing quite like kh when it comes to how it treats the bonds between characters#and the latter is just as legitimate!#but i do think that the people who argue (in good faith) that kh shouldnt make anyone canon-#-are kind of missing the forest for the trees#(i specify in good faith bc we all know the bad faith ones are just co-opting the argument to hide their homophobia)#(and oh boy are *most* of them in bad faith. but i wanna take a sec to talk about this bc there are good faith ones out there)#and what i mean by that is that... well first of all making one ship canon doesn't invalidate all the other examples of stunning displays of#-the power of friendship#second of all i would like you to consider the framing of this#if no ship becomes canon and it's purely platonic for all the OC's... how is it different from any other kids show with no couples?#in terms of representing friendship as not being less than romance?#it's still not bad don't get me wrong. what i'm saying is that media DOES exist#there are shows and books and games out there where there are no couples to speak of#maybe not terribly common but they're out there#but a slow burn epic gay romance where platonic connections are legitimately just as important and powerful? i sure af havent seen it#sora being in love with riku and still willing to sacrifice himself (TWICE) to save kairi... is that not exactly what you want?#to show that the platonic connection is not lesser? that its just as important?#i dunno i've been turning this over in my brain all afternoon thinking about it#stop talking to yourself flight

Since, if the trend continues and it should, Kingdom Hearts IV should end with Sora and Kairi's hands joining again, here's my idea for the ending of the game:
We close on the two of them holding hands, of course, but it's Kairi pulling Sora back into the Realm of Light.
This also keeps Sora from, technically, ending up back in the Realm of Light in KHIV (like early on, I mean), as most don't want that (including myself. It would be far too easy). So, technically, he would be back there at the start of KHV.
