I love slowly falling in love with my mutual's WIPs through the lines here and there that pass by my dash, especially the ones in genres/with premises I wouldn't normally read. Like, we've interacted a few times and your url brings a smile to my face when I see you around, and there is so much love in the way you post about your writing that I see it, I see what there is to love.

Writing for the first time in days and already, it looks like being locked away in a gaming cave has done something to my brain because the words are coming out like a river, and there's this one line I really like:
He is the last thing animals see before winter is just a dream.

People liking your personal OCs is still such a crazy feeling, I've been doing this for years and ppl asking about them still fills my entire heart with warmth and idk how to handle it
You enjoy this fictional guy I made up for fun?? Whose only content is random artwork or writing made by me and a handful of other artists at most? They have no show/book/game with a large fandom, it's just one person with an art blog?? I love u

Wellcome to the Villain flea market™
Have you stolen too much this year? Gotten bored of those ancient jewels? Is your lair getting too full of rare stuff that doesn't give you the wow factor anymore? Well, I might have something for you!
Introducing the Villain flea market™
Try selling your stolen goods here at the Villain flea market™! The market that is only once a year, just for villains like you! 🫵
(And for the heroes out there! Altho, the rules state that there are no heroes allowed. Heroes can still try to join, as breaking rules just to sell your stuff is quite a… villainous thing to do. But we do recommend dawning a disguise 🥸)
Don’t have a stall to sell out of? Don’t worry! We at the Villain flea market™ can help you, with this little Picrew made just for this occasion: Villain Market stall
(Note: you do not need to make a picture if you don’t want to! Text only is fine)
Here is my stall! 🐇🌙
Tumblr media
I got 4 items on sale for you today!
First up we got my favorite Spheal pokemon card, ain’t he cute? I stole this one along with all the other cards from a scalper some month back.
Second item is this strange hat, I think it’s some earth fashion since that is where I stole it from. It’s too heavy for me, so I’ll trade it for a cuter and lighter hat.
Next up we got an orb of eternal flame. It’s a nice orb of eternal flame. But with it, my room is too warm to sit with a blanket, so I would rather sell it. And no, I won't tell you where I got it from.
And at last I got one crate of fresh bananas! I’ll give you one bannana for free, it’s rich in potassium!

Too Ashamed of Writing to Write
Anonymous asked: I've spent ten years thinking of stories, ideas, characters, magic systems, concepts, all that jazz, but when I actually have to write it down, I feel this overwhelming sense of shame and disgust. Just looking at what I write makes me feel bad. If I posted my writing in forums for serious writers, it'd immediately get torn to shreds. It's a constant downer and it dissuades me from wanting to write more. Is there advice for nervous nellies like me to overcome this fear that's a little sweeter than "grit your teeth and bear it?"
[Ask edited for length]
First, this is normal. A lot of writers struggle with it. The reason why, I think, is our society puts so much emphasis on finished products, we've collectively forgotten the reality behind what it takes to get to that finished product. We've forgotten that things take practice and time and polishing, and that to make good art, you first have to make bad art. If you can't learn to sit with your bad art, you'll never get good enough to make good art.
So, yes, unfortunately... though it may have a bitter taste, "grit your teeth and bear it" is the usual advice because it's true advice. If you can't grit your teeth and wade through the bad art to get to the good art, you'll never get to the good art.
Here are some things that might help. First, watch this:

Don't get stuck on a scene
Not in the mood to write the scene you’re working on? Don’t worry about it! Make some notes and move on.
There is no shame in just jotting down the main points in a scene and revisiting it later. It’s ok to just not be feeling it sometimes.

QuickieKopi and judaism and hoodie Stealing 👀👀👀
- @bluejay-in-write 💙
QuickieKopi:
He's not used to feeling wrong-footed at practice, nor is he used to the colors of it all: the jerseys, the rink, the banners. Everything is just kind of off, like it's meant to be different and has yet to conform.
He's never forgotten what a New England fall feels like, but it's been fifteen years since he's felt one settle around him, crawl into his bones.
It's almost a new feeling.
Judaism and hoodie stealing:
The line is silent. Then, there's rustling, and banging, and more noise than Adam generally wants to hear from Quinn's house when he's not there to ensure a lack of broken bones, and then-
"Got em," whispers Quinn, as if whispering negates knocking half of the shit on top of his fridge off of it in order to get to the stupid fucking candles he doesn't need for another- Adam checks the day of the week - three days. It's still Tuesday night there.
I hope u like these!!!

do you have any tips for getting words down bc boy howdy i could use. some tips. shjdksdj
Hmm, I have a few different strategies!
1) If you have an idea and just want to get it on paper, write the most rudimentary version possible, basically jot notes. Sometimes actually writing it can seem intimidating, so litterally just "person A gets upset. B apologizes. Person A feels guilty for getting so angry and B reassures it's alright,"
Sometimes this "bone structure" method is also great for if your stuck on a scene, or dont have the brain power to be detailed, or whatever lack of motivation you have, because once you get the basic strokes, you can slowly add meat to the bones, just going over it a couple times and adding more detail with each pass.
2) use technology! You have it at your fingertips, use it! Sometimes I litterally feel too sluggish to lift my fingers to physically type, that's where swipe to text, predictive text and text to speech come in handy! So what if theres a bunch of errors? You can go back and edit it later! The name of the game right now is to just get it down, so speak outloud and let your phone do the typing for you!
3) Bribe yourself! Theres no shame in telling yourself that, for every sentence you write, you earn a gummy bear. Or something similar! But make sure this bribe method dosent turn into punishing yourself, make the goals very easy.
4) Just not really "feeling" it? Grab a buddy and use them to get yourself hyped up! Tell your friend about the story you want to write, let them tell you how cool it is. Every writer needs a hype friend, because when they get excited about your story, suddenly your excited and much more motivated to write it! (I volunteer!)
5) Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly. Open the text document and write one word, then close it again. Maybe write a sentence then go watch youtube. In between each video add a few words. You dont need to write a novel in one sitting. Every book started with a single word.
6) Write the ending first! Sometimes you just dont know how to start. You've been staring at that empty document for an hour and *nothing*. You have a scene you want to get to, but you just cant get it started, so, skip the beginning! Just start writing the scene you've already got, then fill in the holes afterwards! Sometimes starting is the most intimidating part.
7) Don't write. This may seem counterintuitive, but try it! Ban yourself from writing! No writing for a whole week! Your not allowed! This is more then just reverse psychology, where suddenly when your not allowed to do something now you want to, but sometimes you just need a break! A week of not feeling guilty for not writing because your not allowed to! A week of not thinking and stressing about it can be just the refreshing thing you needed. Sometimes just feeling guilty for not writing is enough to burn you out.
Sometimes it doesn't actually feel like burn out or writers block, you can have the idea and even the exact words in your head, but you just cant seem to get your fingers to type it. This is still a form of a lack of motivation, so don't beat yourself up♡
I hope these help a bit!!!

May Writing Challenge
Tumblr media
This May I want to get back into writing. I’m not at all consistent. I’m at a point where I don’t feel like I can work on bigger things, because I can’t guarantee myself to keep working on it in a week from now. So I will take this month as a training month to get back into the habit of writing. I will do this by writing (or trying to write) 200 words every day. Topic is irrelevant. How great my writing is that day is irrelevant. Just 200 words written down. A habit taking 21 days to form was debunked, it does take a lot longer, but 31 days are a start I would say. These are already 140 words, so 200 words every day are hopefully manageable. You're more than welcome to join me if you like 😊
