Mammon, Lucifer, and MC Grab a Bite to Eat
Author’s Note: “Lucifer” = “Satan (Lucifer)", "Satan” = “Lucifer (Satan)”
TW: mention of consuming human blood
"Ow," Mammon mumbles once we're seated at a table in Hell's Kitchen, which is apparent a popular cafe in the Devildom. "Ugh, did ya have to hit me? I mean, seriously..."
"You should be thankful I'm not in my real body, or the damage would've been much worse," Lucifer replies, glaring at his brother.
"I mean, sure, it's not as bad. But still, gettin' hit hurts no matter who does it!"
"Not to worry. I'll be back to my old self soon enough. Then we'll do something about the overly lenient beatings you've been getting while I've been in Satan's body. I'll make up for that pain deficiency all at once."
"Can the two of you negotiate punishments some other time?" I ask. "I'm trying to eat my burger in peace, thank you very much."
"My apologies," Lucifer responds. "It seems like my dear brother doesn't need food, because all he's been doing is talking. You know, Mammon, if you don't eat your food, you're going to lose your chance."
"Oh, I'm definitely gonna eat!" Mammon exclaims. "Man, it's been a long time since I've eaten at Hell's Kitchen. Sure am glad Beel isn't here!"
"I take it Beel enjoys eating here?" I inquire. Lucifer nods.
"This is his favorite Devildom cafe. Normally, I wouldn't say this, but eat as much as you'd like, MC. It's my treat, since you came shopping with me."
"Okay, I will!" Mammon responds, despite the fact that his brother wasn't addressing him. "I take back everything I said. You're the best, Lucifer!" With that, he digs into his food. The noises that come out of him make me lose my appetite, and I end up pushing my basket of unfinished food away from me.
"What's wrong, MC?" Lucifer asks. "Aren't you going to eat?"
"I can't."
"Is there something wrong with the food? I can talk to the chef and have him create a more human-safe plate for you."
"It's not that." I jerk my head in Mammon's direction. The Avatar of Greed is oblivious to our conversation as he continues devouring his food.
"I see. Well, I'm glad that you're not suspicious of me treating you to lunch."
"What makes you think I would be? I think this would be in line with Diavolo's goal of uniting the three realms."
"Well, doesn't a human world have a story about an evil witch who fattens up children and then eats them?"
"Yes, but we consider that a fairy tale."
"I don't know. I think all stories have an element of truth to them, no matter how far-fetched they may seem."
"Are you saying that a demon was the one who ate Hansel and Gretel?"
"Was that their names?" My eyes widen, causing Lucifer to laugh. "Don't worry, MC. I didn't eat those kids. As much as I enjoy a good human soul, I'm not fond of human flesh."
"What about blood?"
"Hey, I thought you said you lost your appetite!" Mammon butts in, appearing to have finished everything on his plate.
"It depends on the individual," Lucifer responds, ignoring his brother's outburst. "The taste of a human's soul is linked to the taste of their blood."
"So, if they don't have a good soul, then their blood won't be very appetizing."
"Correct. Now, if the soul is pure, a human's blood can be the most addicting thing in all of the three realms."
"Have you ever had human blood?" Mammon quickly gets up from our table and bolts to the restroom, appearing to be nauseous from our conversation.
"A few times, yes. We all have."
"What did you think of it?"
"Why are you so curious?" He looks amused by the direction this conversation has gone. "Are you hoping that I would consume your blood, MC?" My heart begins beating faster as Lucifer stares directly at me, eagerly anticipating my response.
"I mean, under the right circumstances, I wouldn't exactly be opposed to it. Back in the human world, it's suggested that if a supernatural being takes blood directly from a human, the experience produces feelings of ecstasy that not even an orgasm can produce."
"That much is true. It also produces the same effect from the being taking the blood, although I've personally never experienced it for myself. The best human blood I had was only slightly better than an average glass of Demonus."
"Are you guys done?!" Mammon shouts, returning to our table. Lucifer winks at me before turning his head towards his brother.
"As a matter of fact, yes. And now that we're finished eating, it's time for you to compensate me for all the food you ate through hard work."
"WHA?!"
"I'm heading up to the human world, and you two are coming with me." Mammon nearly jumps up and down in excitement.
"Man, it's been a long time since I've gone up there for fun," he explains after he sees the weird look on my face. "I used to corrupt human souls left and right. I'd make a bunch of money doin' it, too. Then I'd go on a massive spending spree!"
"Somehow, I get the feeling we're not going up to the human world to corrupt any souls," I reply. Lucifer nods his head.
"We'll be visiting a witch," he states.
"Lucifer, you know how much I hate witches!" Mammon exclaims.
"This isn't just any witch, Mammon. This particular one is the creator of the cursed book that caused me to switch bodies with Satan. She's still alive. If we want to break this curse, the best way is to ask the very person who created it. I'm guessing she should be able to lift the curse and return me to my proper body."
"I don't know...I think I'm gonna go ahead and sit this one out..." Lucifer grabs a hold of Mammon's jacket sleeve before he can walk away from us.
"Did you really think I'd simply let you run off, Mammon?" Mammon starts begging Lucifer to let go of him, but Lucifer simply smiles. "I know why you don't want to go. Because it just so happens that this witch is a big fan of both you and Satan."
"If you know that, then don't drag me along with ya!"
"Actually, that's exactly why I'm going to drag you along with me."
"Would it be improper of me to ask where exactly we're going?" I ask, interrupting the two brothers before things start to escalate. "Because if it's close enough to my neck of the woods, I'd like to pick up some things from my place that I wasn't able to get before the exchange program started."
"London," Lucifer states. Darn. That's nowhere near where I live. Guess I'll have to wait another time. As we leave Hell's Kitchen, Mammon starts whining about how he doesn't want to go to the human world.
"If you don't shut up now, then once I'm back in my real body, I promise to string you up and hang you upside down for a thousand years!" Lucifer snaps.
"Wouldn't it be more effective to put a curse that prevents Mammon from talking?" I ask.
"You're not supposed to be encouraging him!" Mammon shouts.
"Sorry. Anyway, how do we get to the human world from the Devildom?"
"There's quite a few methods, actually," Lucifer responds. "One is to use an eternal magic seal, which is a passage between worlds that has existed since ancient times. One of these seals is right...here." We stop in front of a statue in the middle of the street that we're on.
"But pretty much the only demons who are allowed to use those things whenever they feel like it are Lord Diavolo, Barbatos, and you, Lucifer," Mammon adds. "What's up with that, huh? I mean, it ain't fair! I wanna be able to use 'em too!"
"Wait," I say. "What if the seal doesn't work?"
"What do you mean?" Lucifer asks.
"Well, the three of us know that you're Lucifer, but what if the seal doesn't? What if it thinks that you're Satan, because that's what the seal's able to see?" Lucifer opens his mouth, as if to object, but then simply sighs.
"You're probably right, MC. Unfortunately, this is the easiest option. The classic route involves walking through all eight layers of the Devildom on foot, and I doubt that your psyche would survive the trip. And currently, there's no one up in the human world that would be able to summon us there, since the one person that we know is currently down here."
"We have to get Satan," I tell him. "Since he's in your body, the seal will recognize him as you, and we should be able to get through just fine."
"Thankfully, you don't have to go very far." The three of us turn around to find Satan standing just a couple feet away from us. "I had a feeling that Lucifer would do this, because that would have been my next step as well. Plus, I hate speeches. They're a giant hassle, and I've got no intention of agreeing to give one."
"So, now that everyone's here, I guess we're good to go, right?" Despite Mammon's protest, Lucifer and Satan hold their hands over the ground in front of the statue, which develops into a circle. This must be the portal to the human world. Grabbing Mammon's hand, I drag him to the edge of the portal, and together the four of us step inside and allow it to transport us to the human world.

My opinion on Kagami
I've been wanting to do this for a while, and the latest leak we got from Jeremy only gave me more reasons to share.
Now, know that I'm not trying to roast anybody or shaming them for their opinions under any circumstances. I just want to share mine.
Nowadays, my thoughts on her are... complex. The easiest way to sum this up would be with the same point many other fans experience through Lila: hate her character but love her design. Please, put the knives down!
I don't hate Kagami, but I'd be lying if I said I'm happy with the way she's being handled. From my point of view, she's very cute! From all her freckles to her bright brown eyes... Not to mention her clothes! I totally saw one of my dream outfits in hers. In terms of view, what's not to like?
Tumblr media
Now, the way she's currently written... That's another story.
In my opinion, she's kind of gone downhill since Riposte. Then, we got a glimpse of what a healthy love rival looked like. She acknowledged Adrien's fondness of Marinette in no time, didn't show signs of falling head over heels for him at first sight (no easy feat for this show, tbh) and didn't treat Marinette as a threat right away! Bonus points for fencer girl!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But ever since Frozer... Kagami's character has turned from determined and serious to judgemental. There's nothing wrong with a character being cold and confident, especially if they're supposed to be good guys, but by then she had started being just another love rival.
Why is this so important to me?
Well, leaving aside the importance of the romantic factor for a show based on the confusing love story of its two main characters, because I took Feri's words to heart. Kagami and Luka were supposed to be charming, well-rounded characters, not just love interests. And yet, I get to see that in Luka a lot more than I do in Kagami.
This meant a lot to me because every single love rival Marinette has had so far has been/is a jerk to her! How are we going to show young girls that love rivals aren't the same as sworn enemies if a show directed to them portrays just that!
And don't tell me that's just how girls act because if it's wrong to let boys insist on asking out a girl who is clearly not interested so is letting girls cat fight.
Back to the point.
While I myself prefer to see Kagami's interaction with Marinette as tough love/advice, both Thomas and Feri explained she basically told her to step up her game, or Adrien's hers. Which, yeah. Can be both advice AND a threat. This last statement comes from the fact that Kagami's last interaction with Adrien in Frozer turned out to be Kagami deeming Marinette as unworthy of Adrien's affections. Hence, the "When you see you're wrong [about your target], I'll be there" moment. She basically told Adrien Marinette was the wrong choice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then, there's Animaestro. Now, I do not condone Chloé and Marinette's actions at all. But Kagami was no saint either. While there's no denying Marinette and Chloé gave her the stink-eye first, she was just as jealous as them and fueled their insecurities when she took Adrien's arm, which is nothing bad itself, especially since it didn't make Adrien uncomfortable (take notes Chloé & Lila), but it looked as a "take that" move, y'know? And she also kept giving Marinette the stink-eye whenever she was around Adrien, to the point where she looked outraged by her mere presence. Things we've seen before in Backwarder, for example.
Tumblr media
And... *sigh* how could we forget Oni-chan?
While her rage in this episode was righteous and it wasn't directed at Marinette, it portrayed Kagami in a light that didn't make her justice. It could be argued jumping to conclusions makes her more human, but don't say it's something we only saw in this episode because this whole post is about her making assumptions of Marinette. But I must admit this time took the whole cake! Her anger was terrifying. But I need to pretend the plot-convenient plot holes don't exist for a minute to talk about something: that reaction was way over the top.
It would, of course, be understandable if we were aware Kagami's met Lila before and she thinks of her the same as Marinette does. But that's not the case. Then why does she react like that?! You'd expect that after hearing Adrien practically gush about Marinette and finding her almost everywhere they go (sometimes even per Adrien's request), she'd be more sold on the idea of Mari being the one he loves. Yet, the only explanation I've found online is that she thought Lila was his girlfriend. Hello???? Wouldn't it be the normal thing to do to wonder just who the Hell is this girl you haven't even heard of and calling Adrien to find the answer? Well, apparently not.
And now that we know Kagami will be the Dragon miraculous holder I'm a bit disappointed. Don't worry. It has nothing to do with all this. It's because it's... predictable. Way too predictable.
On the one hand, it's true a friend of mine and I headcanoned she could get the horse miraculous, and I'm a bit bummed out about it. But for the most part it is because of how predictable it is.
Leaving aside their faces, which is where the heroes become more obvious to us, the viewers, if we take Marinette's Ladybug costume, there are still clear differences between her hero self and her civilian self. While still using polka dots, they are far less numerous or notorious than Ladybug's and, most importantly, her main colours are white and pink, as opposed to the superheroine's red and black.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kagami, on the other hand, uses red and black as her primary colours in both outfits. And, on top of it, she's an Asian fencer, so the fact that she wields the Dragon (clearly Asian-based) miraculous which includes a sword is such a surprise...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But seriously! I don't hate her!
She clearly has some great moments such as when she helped Marinette up, or as I call it, the "move I'm gay move", or when she stood up against Chloé. It's just that her role in the Love Square doesn't look like it's balanced. Kagami can be hostile to Marinette and fuels her insecurities, as opposed to Luka and Adrien's chilled interactions and Luka's effect on gradually making Adrien see Marinette as more than just a friend.
Well, as always, I'll guess we just have to wait and see.
