so i let the hyperfixation win.
over the past several hours i rewatched Sword Art Online and SAO 2.
(this time dubbed, last time i watched it subbed)
here are my thoughts:
-anyone who said the dub was bad is just wrong. Kirito's VA really shines in the more comedic or sweet moments (like when first meeting Yui), he reminds me of like a Peter Parker. and oh my lord, the breakdown by Suguha's VA was just a masterpiece. Still have chills from watching it.
-i have such a big appreciation for every character. This time it really shined through how good of characters Kirito, Asuna, and Suguha actually are.
Kirito's internal conflict throughout SAO2 is so good, grappling with their actions they needed to take in SAO to survive. and throughout all of it you can tell how much they truly loves their friends and family, and how kind hearted they really are. Asuna definitely fits into that role as well, being so ready to take care of Yui and so desperately wanting her to be safe and loved and cared for.
And oh my gosh Suguha. I remember people absolutely hated her arc because it is problematic, but the fact is, it's played entirely serious, her feelings arent taken as a joke. She has a genuine and real internal struggle for feeling things she feels she shouldnt, and how she feels those feelings arent reciprocated or cant be reciprocated, and having her heart broken twice by someone who she loves and someone who also does still genuinely love her. Its absolutely heartbreaking to watch.
Man, Sinon is still fantastic. She's still my absolute favorite, and I think she is one of the best characters in the show, and pretty much steals the show from her introduction. Her arc ties in so seamlessly with Kirito's and how they help eachother heal and grow is fantastic. Only complaint is we never got a scene of the rest of the Gals being jealous about the grenade hug she gave Kirito. After Kirito and Sinon nearly died, wouldve been some nice relief so you didnt feel like you yourself were dying.
-Speaking of, while there was definitely a ton of fanservice, the pseudo-harem aspect with the jokes were kinda cute, between characters seeing flirting happen around them, getting embarassed over it, its fun. Especially when people got jealous of Sinon flirting with Kirito over Excalibur. That part was very fun, since they did that infront of everyone else, almost like they were trying to get a rise out of them. Theyre not exactly the pinnacle of comedy, its definitely a trope, but theres something nostalgic about it that makes it kinda enjoyable.
-Speaking of the psuedo-harem, guys if all of you are constantly flirting with eachother (not just Kirito surprisingly, happens between the other girls frequently) and jealous of any affection with that, just start a polycule. You're a group of gamer girls playing MMOs together and all of you have slept in the same bed with eachother. Stop snipping at eachother and start dating eachother. Polyamory is pretty cool. Kirito and Asuna can still be the main duo and be the parents to Yui and Strea; but yall gotta work on the jealousy or just do what every other group of girl gamers does, polyamory. Lisbeth you should not be angrily drinking while watching Kirito and Asuna talk. (this is mostly a joke, im not actually saying they *have* to do a polycule, its more of a joke because of how tropey a lot of the flirting and jealousy is, and yknow, gay girls do polyamory, so dont take this part toooooo seriously.)
-Speaking of girls dating girls, the LGBT rep aint half bad. Argo canonically using both male and female pronouns is really cool! Most of the girls flirt with eachother a lot too, which is nice. Between the female avatar, the willingness to pretend to be a girl, the introversion, the desire to be an avatar in a virtual world more than irl, Kirito might be transgender. All good stuff here.
Overall, SAO is honestly way better than I remembered, even if some parts definitely show its age. You gotta piece it together a little bit with headcanons, but i do that with every show, nothing is perfect. Except Sinon. And a world where trans Kirito is canon. Those are perfect.

WAHOO ye im just gonna count from my rewatch for now hehe. also gonna make it clear that on a basic level i do like and appreciate all of these :3
5. hoenn! no particular reason its in last for me tbh, i dont dislike anything about it. in fact i love battle frontier a lot and if it were just that this would be higher! but ag itself just… isnt all that to me. i dont really feel much with its episodes and there isnt any non battle frontier ep im dying to revisit (besides maybe the dusclops one, that ones really good). again, nothing wrong with it, its just that in retrospect im just like. yep. that happened. (this could also just bc bc idc much for hoenn as a region idk)
4. johto: johto is just Good Vibes tbh, it doesnt have much going on but its got some fantastic standalone episodes and just some of the best content in the entire anime. only thing that brings it down are the “new region” growing pains, you can tell exactly why they had ash change companions and teams in the later seasons. the pokemon teams in this one are just so awkward. ill always be bitter abt heracross. also that one season where nothing substantial happens stings a lot, i dont wanna call it filler bc thats most of johto, but nothing really Out There happened. it felt too safe, and the episodes that did take risks just felt weird and wrong (like the “pokemon dont think or understand words” episode) idk its good outside of that tho. also the cell animation was gorgeous in this season oh my goodness. all the pokemon look so vibrant and cute.
3/2: is it weird to say that kanto and unova are tied? it probably is but i honestly cant say which one i like more. i prefer the companions in unova a lot and think they had really good and charming moments and arcs, while the more crass humor in kanto (aside from some physical slapstick) is funnier than unova’s attempt at mean spirited humor. kanto was also just batshit really early on and thats super fun to rewatch, and newer seasons feel kinda safe compared to that. ash is also just better in kanto tbh, hes just starting out and unova tried to emulate that while forgetting that ges a veteran at that point. but then all the battles and fun stuff in unova is wayyy better than kanto’s. which is understandable bc they had more resources and budget at that point, but still overall they have more weight. also the unova mons have more consistent personalities. idk these two balance each other out, i love em both genuinely but idk which is better
1. sinnoh. yeah that last season sucks ass but outside of that? overall its great! straight up one of the best casts both of humans and pokemon in the entire show, some of the best emotional moments and arcs, genuinely threatening antagonists and a flawed, but interesting rival arc? its all REALLY good and it holds up super well. also straight up has the best league arc dont @ me. idk if itll be my favorite of the entire show anymore, alola has my eye on that regard and yeah i cannot emphasize enough how awful that last season is to sit through in comparison to the first 3 seasons (im convinced theres no battle frontier arc bc they had to nerf the show) but overall its really special to me and im still really nostalgic for it :3 also it spawned best character in all of fiction so yknow

do you guys want my entire fnaf au. yes
basic timeline of events:
-1979 fredbears opens. moderately popular
1981 charlie (4) goes missing, and “is found” about a year later. henry pretty much abandons fredbears for a new project (charlie, but then freddys)
1983 bite of 83. crying child (8) dies and michael (15) is completely and thoroughly fucked up about it. fredbears is “temporarily closed” but is never reopened
1984 freddy fazbears family pizza place (pre fnaf 2) opens
1985 missing children incident, over the span of about 2 months. closes a month later
-1986 elizabeth goes missing publically. circus baby, wills passion project, kills her. and all. in his own workshop though. he manages to cover it up as a runaway.
-1987 the NEW freddy fazbears pizza! (fnaf 2) opens :D surely this will go great.
1987 like a month later bite of 87. mangle bites the frontal lobe of the night guard (you know him. jeremy). immediately closes.
-1988 wills wife leaves him fucking finally
-1989 freddy fazbear pizza opens finally! this one is actually probably gonna be fine
roxy (0) is born! michael (20) had this girlfriend he thought he was gonna spend his whole life with and she got pregnant! but she didnt want it. but he did. so um its all his. great.
-1991 circus babys pizza world opens :) genuinely pretty normal also the whole child murder robot thing doesnt come up like almost ever. until! it does!
1993 freddys closes to focus circus babys much more advanced animatronics
1999 roxy (10) dies. um she got eaten (yknow) by funtime freddy see she wasnt allowed near the animatronics (wow sounds familiar) but she somehow ends up in the room and decides. well hes silly. and well. BUT DOES SHE DIE REALLY??????
1999 michael in the search for what the fuck happened there gets in the sister location game predicament where he. fucking dies kinda but hes okay dw hes just ourple and pretty much just skin and spite. circus baby closes. bc. the animatronics are gone
-2009 the brand new freddy fazbears pizza opens!!! (its just called freddy fazbears pizza) its great it does not have animatronics its human actors :D to dispel any controversies yknow :) this is where the story is set. :)
maxwell dalton works at freddys currently! he is a mechanic and works in the basement cleaning and repairing all the old animatronics. the idea is that maybe with the right modifications and such they can open MORE restaurants with animatronics. of course that isnt going to happen. but william is a nostalgic man and he owns it. max is a weirdo freak that tries his best to be friendly likable and most importantly, trust worthy! he is very interested in the history of freddys and likes to talk about Fun Facts with his coworkers, like that fabric suited animatronics were made by henry but the plastic ones were will, and that chica was reportedly the first animatronic to start noticeably smelling bad and starting leaking some strange liquid by the time the restaurant closed. but max isnt just here bc he likes the animatronics, max is here bc spoilers max is roxy haha wow can you believe it did you see that one coming.
michael was a single father and will had a new kid in line to mess with so instead of just using his money to help michael raise his kid, he used his power over him to make him work at his restaurants and generously volunteered to take care of roxy while he was gone. in these times will decided roxy (who was starting to look more like will than michael did. but like a little girl.) would be his little mini me, but in order to be that they had to like the same things he liked. so he talked and talked about his own life and confessed to like. yknow murder and how awesome he found it to them. roxy didnt actually take this well and became very reserved and unhappy, and will doesnt take THAT and comes up with this epic plan.
see charlie. um died he knows this. he knows this for sure bc he killed her. personally. fortunately for him he realized this when it happened and managed to steal the plans for charlie. so. if henry can build a new daughter he can fix his granddaughter so he decides hes gonna kill them and fill them up with parts. he doesnt have the visual crafting skills of henry, but he does have. roxy. so he can just use their skin.
so he tricks them into the funtime auditorium, gets them snatched by funtime freddy, and then retrieves them before anyone could find them. unfortunately for him roxy is tall and chubby for a 10 year old, just like he was at their age, so theyre a bit. mangled. by the robot meant to grab average sized 5 year olds. but thats okay. he can fix them. and well roxy seems to be... alive again! but not as a robot in human skin but as human skin holding these robot parts in it. which sucks major ass and they immediately want to leave and get out of this absolutely terrible situation but they know as well as anyone else in town that william is well liked and nobody would believe them at all even a little bit. fortunately having. um. died. they can talk to ghosts. and one of the ghosts. charlie. knows that theres at least one person that would fully understand their situation: samuel emily WOAHH so roxy goes and finds him
roxy does make it to sammy (samuel baker his mothers name) in northern arizona and well. after being very confused and making various phone calls to his mother (he was 4. when everything happened to him and then his life was pretty normal otherwise) he decided to take in this weird fucked up little kid. of course um he couldnt tell anyone though its. illegal. probably. so he did his best to like kind of homeschool them and keep them happy. which involved supporting them through transition once they realized that. max is trans simon make a cis oc challenge (no).
so okay max becomes an adult and we’re back to the present of the story max decides to go back to hurricane to this new freddys restaurant and theyre trying to hire a mechanic for the animatronics very convenient because thats what mac wants is access to the animatronics. max has already heard the terrible shit will did so he wants to like. yknow some sort of. justice. or whatever and he knows theres ghosts in the robots bc he met them after having experimental surgery done in wills workshop. so he wants to go help. them. leave and stop being ghosts. and try to find ways to implicate will and get him like. not arrested the goal is to kill him in the end. remembered as a bad person. thered be no story if max just came in with a gun.

henry left the franchise after the bite of 87 he could not do it anymore. he also left charlie to his sister bc he was really guilty about making her and while jen didnt like that he did that, charlie is like. a person. so she did agree to take care of her

she works at freddys! as a mechanic also i just kinda wanted her around. she fixes the arcade machines theyve had for 25 years but she came in for max’s job and um. well max has it and doesnt let her see the animatronics so she kinda has beef with him but not really
what is michael doing!!
michael also works at freddys!!!! he knows his dad is like a bad person who at least caused the death of elizabeth (but not really anyone else) and fucked up his daughter but will is the only living family member he has (as far as he knows) (his mom has passed. at this point) so like what the fuck is he going to do. so he tries to keep watch of things there and makes sure nothing goes on. he knows unless will is dead freddys is happening so hes trying to take hold of it and keep it safe.
where did the circus babys animatronics... go.
they separated into scrap baby and molten freddy. it was mostly babys idea and it didnt work at all so they were mad at her and kicked her out. ballora and foxy wanted to go home but freddy was scared what they would do to him (bc he had almost Just got roxy at that point) and didnt want to be alone so he kinda forced them in with him. they were eventually both recovered and shoved in the basement with all the other animatronics.

getting emotional about miley again woohoo
i know i talk a lot about dove. like a lot. but i hope people know how much miley still means and will ALWAYS mean to me. and i dont just mean that in just like a nostalgic, retrospective sense. no like she is still an active part of my life and thats never gonna change.
things are different than how they were in 2009-14, i cant deny that. but theres no one to blame for that. my migration to dove was totally natural and understandable since we established an actual irl relationship, and even before and besides that, she was always more accessible than miley bc she wasnt a worldwide phenomenon right out the gate. i got deep into miley WELL after her place in the world was established, but even if id gotten fully hyperfixated at the beginning, it wouldnt have been much different. who knows if dove is ever gonna reach that level. and im sure it also has to do with the fact that dove and i are much closer in age, as well as the characters shes played.
but that doesnt mean dove has entirely replaced her. and like i said, its more than just a "this impacted me in my past and im grateful for that looking back and i enjoy it casually now but thats about it" like no. my face still lights up every time i see her. i still stop in my tracks any time i hear any of her songs in public. i still excitably keep up with any new thing she does.
its just harder to establish myself as a miley fan with being a dove fan taking up most of my personality AND her being so mainstream that people think "yah a lot of people are miley fans" like sure but you dont understand im different lol.
quarantine really revitalized my l&m hyperfixation and my dove hyperfixation as well as a result and i think it made me put it a little too far ahead of hm and miley. after watching hmtm and the concert movie back to back with friends earlier this year, right before endless summer vacation came out, her meaning in my life really slapped me in the face for the first time in a long time like "god. what have i been doing." this isnt to say l&m and dove arent still up at the very top. the thing is, they BOTH are, and i need to remember that.
i found a post of mine from like two years ago where i called l&m "the best thing that ever happened to me." and like. what was i thinking. i wouldnt have been ALIVE to SEE l&m if it werent for hm and miley. is it ONE of the best things to ever happen to me? absolutely. did it, as a whole, come with fewer cons in my life than hm/miley did? arguably, yah. hm kinda caused the problems it ended up solving, but i still dont know where id be or if id even still be here without it. so i dont think anythings ever gonna top it.
they both impacted me in very different ways but both monumental, which is why i dont think its fair for me to put one over the other. i dont think i can say i have a single favorite show or favorite person. it has to be both. i think its fine in casual conversation to refer to one as "my favorite" but its not unlike calling more than one person your "best friend" yknow?
so plz dont let my love of one think that takes away from the other. admittedly, there have been times over the last 9 years where one distracted me from the other for some time, but deep down, i love them both so so dearly. but miley will still always get that extra bit of credit bc frankly she saved my life. and i need to make sure i make that clear.

- He too loves to be completely surrounded by soft, squishy things, so stuffed animals make sense to him
- He’s like “they even come in comforting shapes for children. Perfect”
- That’s mostly him teasing you, but he’s picked out a few of his own favorites from your stuffed animals and now sleeps with them every night
- He’s definitely torn a couple up by accident and he feels SO fucking bad, he tries to get you new ones
- If you have any Build a Bear plushies with the little noise chips in them, DON’T let him near them. Once he accidentally activated a little Darth Vader bear and the kshhhhhh kshhhh scared him so badly that he shot straight up to the ceiling and stuck there like a cartoon cat
Clockwork
- Natalie had SO many plushies as a kid, just thrown all over the floor
- So seeing your bed makes her so nostalgic and feel really like safe and secure, she sleeps in your bed more than her own
- And she honestly cuddles them more than you but at least you don’t have to get crushed by her suddenly laying on top of you in the middle of the night
- Queen of picking up your stuffed animals that have fallen off the bed bc “they’re lonely at night by themselves :,(“
- She ends up falling off the bed a lot bc her depth perception is fucked (one eye syndrome :( )
- This also means it’s hard for her to crawl over all your animals, she prefers bigger ones cause they’re easier to grab but too many of the same color in the same spot makes her head hurt
Masky
- Initially he’s like “how old are you again?” but all it takes is being firm with him, smack him on the elbow or the stomach and be like “yeah uhuh how old are you?? How much do you smoke?”
- He’s like geez don’t need to drag me
- He learns to love them though, at least he loves coming into your room late at night and seeing you passed out on a layer of stuffed animals, looking like you’re having the best sleep of your life
- When you wake up he tells you “damn I gotta try that” and he does!
- His back barely hurts at all the next morning and he’s scarily perky, the next couple times he goes out he comes back with a million pillows for his bed

- He likes fidgeting with stuffed animals, especially when they have clothes or little zippers or sequins or other fidgety items
- He had a couple stuffed animals growing up, like some really beat up bears and jungle animals, so when he sees one that reminds him of his childhood stuffies he cuddles it and won’t let go

- On the contrary, this poor boy never really had stuffed animals growing up. He had, like, those stuffed tiny toys from McDonald’s
- So he LOVES any big plushies you have, if you have any giant valentine’s bears or something he lays over it and doesn’t move
- He adores that you have a ton of stuffed animals, he goes into your room even when you’re not there just to stim with some of them and mess around with them
- And he crashes in your bed CONSTANTLY to cuddle you in one arm and a giant plushie in the other
- You appreciate that he wants to coddle your stuffies as much as you do but he’s HOT and it’s hard to fall asleep next to a literal human furnace so you get him little ice pack plushies :,)
- He does the same for you! He’s filled his own room with stuffed animals to make you feel comfortable there too

- He tries really hard to be an asshole about it but it’s so nice walking into someone’s room and seeing nice, soothing stuffed animals instead of like. Blood and weapons everywhere
- His childhood was lowkey ripped from him so he’s like let me have. Let me have the funny lettle bear
- He still teases you and kinda bullies you on the dl but you know he’s just bullshitting bc every time you leave the room you see him throw himself directly on the pile and snuggle down into them
- Now is the PERFECT time to run back in your room and jump back on top of him and be like “oh? Oh? Stuffed animals are lame oh?? What are you lying in asshole!”
- And he tries to shove you off and get mad but there’s no way you can be angry while laying in a soft pile so you two end up wrestling in the inescapable tangle of plushie limbs until you’re both exhausted and just laying there panting and still poking fun at each other

hMmm... so idk about the rest of you here but for some reason I've... kinda been itching to change up my AC island cast some more?
I mean, I know I had mentioned being tempted by Poppy in an earlier post buuut... idk, lately I feel like I've kinda hit a stump of what else I could do with my island setup (so much that it hasn't been uncommon for me to suddenly stop playing the game for like, weeks 😔 I'm such a bad gamer smh...)
...Soooo to try and fix that I've decided to try and rearrange some villager spots for potential newbies to come freshen things up. So here's what I got in mind-
Pinky (forever best girl so she's staying for good ❤️), Diana (second-best girl with how much I've bonded with her classy sweetness, so she's staying too), Marina (precious lil pink bean, so I miiiight let her stay as well), Poppy (I mean, I already mentioned how cute she was earlier sooo ye she'll def be a new addition lol lil red velvet bby~)
Julian (my new pick for best boy- such a sparkly and fab fella so he's a definite mainstay), Sherb (actually planning on moving him in soon after Static (who recently decided to leave), sooo wish me luck on finding him when the time comes 👍), Raymond (this smug internet famous boyo basically stole his way to my heart (surprise surprise lol) sooo might as well keep him yknow?), Stitches (such a cute & unique design for a plush-themed Cub, so he'll be fun to add in :3), Dom (was among the first ever villagers of my island so I might as well keep him for being such a funny lil softie Jock :p)
Now I do have one more spot to give on my cast... but the thing is I've actually grown a lil torn between who I should give it to between these girls:
Like, with Olivia I've just always wanted a female Cat villager on my island since I lowkey wasn't able to do so with the two male Cats I already have (Raymond & Punchy), so Olivia's classy cuteness could be fun to work with as like a potential "rival/frenemy" of sorts to Diana...
...Yet at the same time, I've also been feeling really nostalgic for Cookie since she was actually among my first favorite villagers back in New Leaf (yet I wasn't able to stop her suddenly moving away back then when I wasn't paying attention T-T). Her addition could probably add for some funny cuteness in like a "bestie" scenario with Pinky, soooo... I'm a lil torn ngl 🤔If any of you got any suggestions then feel free to shoot some at me!

PLAYLIST ANALYSIS
This is actually me just rambling about my thoughts on each song and why I chose them for this specific playlist rather than like.. an actually good and smart sounding in-depth analysis sorry :/
When I Met You - Ethan Nestor
There are many reasons I chose this one! Mostly the lyrics, but Ethan also sings it so it’s extra fitting for the playlist, especially as the opener.
“When I met you my life was blue, I was so lonely / You took me by surprise” The channel came into my life at the perfect time. I was feeling low, in my last year of high school, struggling with thoughts about the future. It especially helped me through quarantine. Every day I felt like quitting, giving up on putting effort into school/not graduating, but I had something to look forward to every day too, so I pushed through.
“Now you're gone from my life / I'm adrift on the sea” Once the stream ended and the channel was gone, I didn’t know how I felt. I felt sad, but also something I’ve never felt before. After watching Ethan’s video yesterday, hearing him explain he felt the same way, I felt so relieved. I think this lyric kind of describes how I feel now honestly, just kinda numb? Like I’m lost. I’m working on it.
Another Night - Story Untold
More of a light-hearted one now! To me, this song made me think about how good it felt to be a part of the audience.
“Here we go for another night / Another night goofing all around” Everyone (the audience, Mark, Ethan, etc.) having fun every single day? *chefs kiss*
“Laughing 'til our stomachs hurt / And I can't let this moment pass me by” Once again, made me think of all the good times that were a part of the channel, and all the good feelings they gave me.
“So here’s to a night we’ll remember / This is a time we never wanna forget” I think this is kind of self-explanatory? I don’t think any of us want to forget Unus Annus. Personally, it’s literally the best thing I’ve ever had the chance to see happen and be a part of.

This song just gives me good vibes, UA gave me good vibes, it had to be on the playlist. I don’t have much else to say about it.
History - One Direction
This song kind of reminds me of Ethan and Mark separately and UA as a whole. Because like,, they make a great team, they have a lot of history (friends for a long time, Ethan was a fan of Mark before that, etc.)
“You and me got a whole lot of history / So don't let it go, we can make some more, we can live forever” A year is a long time but also feels like no time at all. Sometimes I wish we had more time for UA, but I’m glad I was here for what we got.

I’m not exactly sure why I felt so drawn to this? But the vibes are immaculate.

Do you have any good gay or trans book recommendations?
um.. kinda? i have terrible taste and am SUPER judgemental of anything i read, so i’m just gonna list some lgbt books that are special to me!
all-time faves
maurice - e.m. forster | everyone’s read this by now, i’m pretty sure but... read it again. every time i reread i find more passages that mean something to me, and the commentary on classism is just as relevant today as it was back then. honestly more compelling and romantic than a lot of modern gay books [mild tw for conversion therapy in this one.]
giovanni’s room - james baldwin | i’ve only read this once and it was a few years ago so i’m a little fuzzy but i remember thinking it was one of the best books i’d ever read, honestly. it’s beautiful and sad and i’d really, really recommend it [quite a few tws for this one but, like i said, i’m fuzzy, i’d recommend researching it first]
the miseducation of cameron post - emily danforth | i know this is YA and i don’t normally do that, but i read this book when i was 15 and it still has a special place in my heart. it’s really simply written but it still manages to encapsulate everything you’re feeling. [also lots of tws here that i don’t remember too well, esp for conversion therapy]
the picture of dorian gray - oscar wilde | if you follow me... you know this is my fave book. i just love horror, and the fact that dorian gray is a horror that just happens to be gay and happens to be aesthetic and happens to be good... thank you [this is the oldest book on the list so there’s a fair amount of... not so great stuff in it. from what i remember the worst is antisemitism and misogyny, but also tw for suicide and vague horror stuff.]
the celluloid closet: homosexuality in movies - vito russo | this isn’t fiction but i read it the other week and i... kinda disagree w the author on a lot of what was said but it’s sooo interesting as someone rly interested in gay representation in media. it’s also waaay more in-depth and informative than the documentary, even if it is still rly american-centric [also old, so tw for outdated language. also goes into detail with a lot of the shitty things that have happened in old movies to tw for rape, racism, homophobia and suicide.]
other books i kinda rec but have some issues with:
like i said - i’m SO picky. if i feel annoyed by the author, or just get bad vibes from a book, i’ll have an attitude the entire time i’m reading it. these are all really good books, but i read them with a bit of like... yknow... resent
the charioteer - mary renault | kinda outdated and a lot of the commentary is very... negative towards the gay community. still beautifully written and very ahead for its time. [very big tw for suicide, and don’t take that one lightly.]
aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe - benjamin alire saenz | would really recommend for much needed rep for cis gays of colour HOWEVER massive tw for transmisogyny that makes it rly not friendly for trans audiences. [also milder tws for homophobia and discussions of trauma and ptsd.]
fingersmith - sarah waters | it’s good! it’s a good book! but it DOES feel like a lesbian dickens novel in that it’s super dense while remaining kinda simply written. this is my fave sarah waters book, and i’d recommend all of her works, but you really need to be in the mood to sit down and work hard to read it. [it’s set in the victorian period so there are a ton of period-specific tws in all of her novels]
the song of achilles - madeline miller | honestly overhyped fanfic but i loooved this as a teen. the writing really isn’t all that good and i need madeline miller to learn what a semicolon is, but it makes me nostalgic kinda. [tw for rape i think i haven’t read it in a long time]
a single man - christopher isherwood | very good very sad very isherwood, something about it bothered me when i last read it but i really can’t remember what. it’s super short so it’s good if you want something quick. [tw for adult student/teacher i THINK. also tw for suicide i think.]
trans books
i haven’t read any trans books, actually. i don’t think i’ve ever even read a book with a trans character in it. i have my oxfam copy of the danish girl sat on my shelf staring at me but i haven’t been brave enough to put myself through it yet. BUT i was actually just collecting some book recs for my holiday, so i’ll list what i have so far
long black veil - jennifer finley boylan | i don’t know a lot about this book BUT it seems to be a murder mystery, which is like... my shit. it also looks like it’s in a similar tone to the secret history, except without the poncy private school stuff which, again, i’m dying for. it was also written by a trans woman and features trans characters! im rly looking forward to a book about lgbt ppl with an actual plot outside of their identities.
peter darling - austin chant | this is, i think, the only (decent) nonfiction book about a trans man that i could find. it looks, uh, interesting - it’s a gay retelling of peter pan and it looks like it’s meant to be more fun than anything else, so i’m just gonna go into it with an open mind! not sure about the moral implications of peter pan/captain hook slashfic, even if peter pan is an adult in this book, but i’m so interested in what that could possibly be that i’m gonna read it and find out
if i was your girl - meredith russo | this is a pretty straightforward ya highschool romance where the only twist is that the mc is a trans girl. not normally the kind of plot i’m into but i’ve never actually read a trans coming of age book before and i’m sure i’m not alone in that, so it’s really important. it was also written by a trans woman so no doubt it was written sensitively and from the heart.
little fish - casey plett | this one honestly looks sooo interesting, it’s about a trans woman looking back into her family history and finding out her grandfather was possibly trans as well. i don’t know much about it past that, but i love stories that merge history with the modern day so i’m pretty much sold

PRE-RELATIONSHIP
1. How did they first meet?
They technically meet in the throne room in King’s Landing, as Sansa’s engagement is cancelled. But they don’t actually talk until she’s invited to his grandmother’s garden party.
2. What was their first impression of each other?
Cyrus distinctly focused on how sad she looked and he desperately wanted to know what was going on in her head. Sansa thought he seemed too playful and relaxed for their age, questioned why he wasn’t more composed like his siblings.
3. Did any of their friends or family want them to get together?
Arya is like “this is dumb you’re dancing around each other and i will be sick.” Jon just wanted his sister to feel safe, so he’s Whatever about the idea. Margaery thought they’d be an interesting couple, but she didn’t think they would have the chance to get together.
4. Who felt romantic feelings first?
Cyrus got threw a couple of her walls and promptly realized he was starting a losing battle for himself.
5. Did either of them try to resist their feelings?
Both! Actively. For awhile! Because plot and the world at large was firm in finding things to keep them apart. Responsibilities and yknow a giant war gets in the way.
6. If you had told one of them that the other would be their soulmate, what would they think?
Sansa doesn’t believe in those anymore, she’d dismiss it. Cyrus would look at their story and say all of that was way too hard to just be Fate, so he would too.
GENERAL
1. Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go?
Cyrus, given that he was the one who originally pushed for them to get to know each other at all. Took some time but worth it.
2. Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like?
An “official” date would be when they’re no longer hiding any flirting and he’s like for real courting her - he’d just steal Sansa away for a walk around the grounds, most likely, want her to show him Winterfell without the rush of war prep.
3. What was their first kiss like?
Currently planned as the sweet relief of, y’know, not dying.
4. Were they each other’s first anything (kiss, relationship, etc.)?
Cyrus’s first serious relationship!
5. What’s their height difference? Age difference?
Cyrus is 6′2″ so like 5 inches? And he’s like a year older than her.
6. What’s their relationship with each other’s families?
Sansa spent a lot of time around the Tyrells for a hot minute, and got close with Margaery. Cyrus adores Arya and he got along fine enough with Jon, not close with Bran but that’s more on Bran aldjfa

Cyrus is like “foot in mouth disease - activated” even when he tries to sit back and be quiet, so it’s better off to just let him go say hi to everybody. But if it’s anything Official he’ll absolutely step aside for Sansa he’d never step over her.

1. Who said “I love you” first?
Cyrus, but he chickened out, so it came out in the “can be brushed off as just a friend bond” thing. Catch Sansa calling him out on it down the line.

Cuddling at least every night and every morning, Cyrus is a deadweight in bed. PDA is pretty chill, Sansa doesn’t want to do anything too high-key noticeable. Cyrus goes over the top though and if you see him entering a room with her to dramatically go say hi and kiss her hand or something, yes you did.
4. What are their favorite things to do together?
They like their routine quiet evenings, where Cyrus is fiddling with his lute and Sansa is reading or embroidering, if she’s feeling nostalgic towards one of her childhood hobbies. Sansa makes sure they’re schedules line up so they always can have at least one meal together. Cyrus is in charge of most spontaneous activities, one of his favorites being dragging Sansa out to play in the snow with him (she claims eventually he’ll get used to snow and it’ll be dull - he never does).
5. Who’s better at comforting the other?
I made Cyrus with the idea of being a comforting personality, so he was quite literally born for this.
6. Who’s more protective?
Sansa becomes extremely protective of her inner circles as she grows up. Meanwhile, Cyrus is watching her become a badass, so as long as there’s no physical danger, he’s confident for her.
7. Do they prefer verbal or physical affection?
Verbal all the way! Showering someone in compliments, reading romantic poetry and song lyrics, Cyrus literally serenading her, I could go on, they have an old-fashioned flirting style.
8. What are some songs that apply to their relationship, in-universe or otherwise?
None in-universe, but some of my favorites on their playlist are “King of My Heart” by Taylor Swift, “Could You Ever Find Another Word for Love” by Nathan Colberg, and “Leave a Tender Moment Alone” by Billy Joel.
9. What kind of nicknames do they call each other?
Cyrus gets so giddy and proud about her, so he calls Sansa “My Queen” all the time. Sometimes when he’s songwriting he’ll refer to her as the “Northern Star.” Sansa goes for a lot of the classic lovey names, she goes for “My Love” a lot, or she’ll just endearingly call him a fool (honorific). Before they got together, if they were poking at each others’ nerves, Sansa was “she-wolf” and Cyrus was “the thorn in her side” or just “Bard” (derogatory).
DOMESTIC LIFE
1. If they get married, who proposes?
Yes, they do! Sansa brings up the topic first and Cyrus tears up.
2. What’s the wedding like? Who attends?
For the most part, a traditional Northern wedding, with all the important nobles necessary to be invited. Bran would definitely come up for it, and I know Arya would try to make it if she could. I know Cyrus would hop up on stage to join the musicians and serenade her during the feast after.
3. How many kids do they have, if any? What are they like?
What a dangerous question that I currently don’t have details about, but yeah they’ll have a few someday.
4. Do they have any pets?
I feel like they’d take some dogs later on.
5. Who’s the stricter parent?
Sansa, Cyrus was born to be a fun chill dad.
6. Who kills the bugs in the house?
The way that’s neither of their jobs, but also Cyrus would just be like “boom, done <3″

Throwing big feasts for everyone in the castle.

Cyrus makes it his duty to delay their workdays as much as possible, so him.

random fact: so like. if you didn’t know already, i’m an LGBTQ+ youth activist on a national scale. i disappear on occasion because i’m doing something or another, and sometimes i post about it on my blog (speaking of i have exciting news that i heard, but at the same time, i’m pretty much booked every weekend from middle of next month until middle of july), but........ i hate networking. i loathe it. if i never had to network again, i’d be thrilled. networking is my absolute least favorite thing because i struggle at everyday conversation, much less networking with people at least 10-20 years my senior. sure it’s usually free publicity and i get great connections, but god. at what cost? and like.... it’s always after a really emotionally taxing event, so i’m already drained and then wow here’s a room full of adults who want my 18 year old input. please. just let me steal a cupcake then leave.

i’ve never been to london, but i’m gonna have to go with london. i went to la last october to present in an awards show for my organization and i lowkey was underwhelmed. i’m very much a gloom and rain kinda person, and it was too dry and sunny there. although, i did think the huge succulents were sick as fuck. but yeah definitely london. i’m planning to spend a semester abroad there in a few years for an illustration program

i’m afraid of forests because we have a lot of wildlife and i don’t want to get mauled by a bear don’t mind me holding hands under the stars :)

i wanna say both. i used to say “yknow a dragon but in human form would be hot” then i got called dragon fucker for like two years so out of pure spite i’m going with vampires.

(this one’s a very specific reference so hear me out) “i’ve got to go pee on her” used to disorient and confuse the speech of the person casted upon. it’s one of my favorite quotes from scott pilgrim vs. the world (my favorite movie ngl) when scott’s brain can’t figure out two different sentences and he just says that. it’s so good and just fuckin weird that i love it.
8- which carry on character would you go on a coffee date with if you could?
depends tbh! if we’re talking date date, then penny because i would wife penny in 0.5 seconds, but if we’re talking friends getting coffee then 10000000% baz because i’d talk activism and identities with him
9- favorite carry on quote?
“he told me we would be stars” (i don’t have my book on me so i could be getting the line wrong), but it hit so hard for me. like it’s clear how davy manipulated lucy so much that she fell into it and couldn’t crawl out. it’s such a powerful message of control from those who are charismatic enough to hold it, and how sometimes we aren’t weak enough to let go.
10- how excited are you for wayward son?
lemme paint this picture: i started hyperventilating in the hallway when i found out, and then cried an hour or two later when my friend texted me that he preordered me a signed copy. like. i’ve been pre-planning how to get home from college to come and pick it up (okok the 24th is also my dad’s birthday so i’m. um. “coming home to visit him”, of course) because i’m just SO EXCITED to read them again in a canon way :’)

OKAY OFFICIALLY EPISODE 10 IS WHEN THEY START USING THE GOOD THEME SONG
This is one of the few times ive ever hated the japanese accurate song and really loved the dub change?? Plus thats the one they use for the games themselves so im kinda nostalgic for it i guess. (As nostalgic as you can be for a game you only started playing a few months ago, lol)
I dunno why but i just dislike almost all of the japanese vocal songs, even though the rest of the soundtrack is damn awesome. I just think its cos they suffer from "everything syndrome", so to speak. Gera gera po is catchy at..yknow..the gera gera po part, but then it keeps flying off into different genres that dont have any connection whatsoever lyricially. Like suddenly its rap and then a soulful depressing ballad and then we FINALLY get back to gera gera goddamn po, but the vibe is totally dead now. At least the game theme sticks to one consistant chorus!
Oh and this episode was actuallly pretty decent too! Buhu is one of the cutest yokai and im glad her episode went by without any really horrible moments of trash awfuls. Also nice that she was portrayed sympathetically and also super soft and cute and good ans great. I would hug her forever even if she brings bad luck!! Im so sad for her being unable to control her bad luck even on herself! Poor bean!
And shogunyan's episode was cute! "Super legendary cake cutting sharing friendship splitterrrrr!" Tho it was confusing whether he's actually jibanyan in cosplay or like jibanyan possesses his bloodline or something and he appears like an alternate personality? In the manga he was actually a ghost type yokai that had to possess bodies in order to use his sword, which was confusing cos apparantly he used to be a non ghost and also they say he's like a 'real ghost' as opppsed to whisper?? Can yokai double die??
Also im starting to get kinda sad at poor komasan's episodes! He keeps trying to be the cool big bro who knows how everything works in the human world but then his lil bro keeps being better at everything on his first try and he has to hide that he lied about knowing how it works and just NOOOO im feeling so much second hand embarassment!! Please give him an episode where he finally succeeds at something!!
...okay wtf lol, apparantly theyre having an episode advertising Yokai Watch 2 within the universe,via a proxy of some identical game with a slightly different name. "Yolo Watch 2", holy shit. Also aww Spenp is another one of my fave designs! It was fun watching all the ridiculously stupid inventions everyone was wasting their money on, and i like that they made the bizarre yet genius choice to make Spenp talk like a baby boomer and ramble about everyone being a communist and "trickle down economics works!" Holy shitttttt
Randomly i really like the designs of a lot of the background characters! I wanna rewatch all these episodes when i get my pc sorted out, so i can take some screenies of the cute outfits!! Also i like how nate wears slightly different outfits sometimes too, tho he only seems to have like.. Two. And the second one is just the first but with a jacket and the shirt is orange now. Its funny how katie seems to have more outfits EVEN MORE EVIDENCE SHE'D BE BETTER AS THE PROTAGONIST YO! Also i like how her winter jacket has the same colours as dr maddiman for no apparant reason. Now i wanna see him wearing it, lol!
Also i liked that the solution to the Noway episode was to use reverse psychology. Hooray for nate having a moment of strategicness for once! Seriously he's such a selfish lazy asshole protagonist in some episodes and then in others he's like saintlike nice or super smart or whatever. It doesnt seem like intentional character development cos it never sticks in the next episode...
OMG much as i hate manjimutt episodes where he's an asshole pervert, sometimes his jokes are really funny. The universal studios logo but with manjimutt?? And when his entire episode was a spoof of one of those Deep Powerful Artisan Painter Man Lives In The Mountains And Makes TRUE ART type movies except all he made was pottery shaped like boobs and asses. That was the only time him being a horrible person was legitimately funny! Also i like the two random policemen who can see yokai but treat it like a super mundane thing. "Yeah that human faced dog is causing trouble again, stick him in the paddy wagon"

Buddy, my guy, my dude, I had DOZENS. They ranged from tiny little bug eyed ducklings to otters to cats/dogs to those massive lion ones that were bigger than me when I bought them. None of them (that I can remember) ever had names that actually stuck, apart from this little yellow bear called Marks, who was named that because my older brother had an identical, but slightly larger, bear called Spencer. 59: what’s your favourite myth? - the Japanese myth behind Maneki Neko, or the waving/beckoning cat: a cat named Tama, who lived in a temple (not sure which) beckoned to a passing samurai leader, inviting him into the temple. The man felt compelled to follow the cat, and so changed his path to follow him. Immediately, a lightning bolt hit the spot where the man had been standing, and he realised that the cat had saved his life. When the cat died, the Maneki Neko was created to honour him. I was told the story when I stayed with a host family in Japan 7 years ago so it reminds me a lot of that and it’s kinda nostalgic for me
