Or more accurately, a whole bunch of cool-ass, courageous Jewish organizers did a thing and I helped take photos!
IfNotNow Boston shut down BU Bridge for 2 hours - because that’s what you do when your Senator won’t meet with you!
It was an incredibly powerful action. We sang, heard some moving speeches, blew the shofar, and said the Mourner’s Kaddish for the Israeli civilians killed and Palestinians murdered in the ongoing Nakba.
Btw calling anti-Zionist Jews “fake Jews” is fucking laughable. Like people are going to learn the Mourners Kaddish, cite Torah deep cuts and wear tefillin as an elaborate psy-op.
"For all the innocent children whose lives have been shattered in Gaza, we say with united hearts: NOT IN OUR NAME... All the killing must stop." from Mark Ruffalo, 04/Mar/2024:
"At this moment, one out of every two children under six in Gaza is acutely malnourished and at risk of starvation. Join the world in demanding an immediate ceasefire now in Palestine. Our humanity depends on it.
‘Another world is possible, and we pledge to make it real.’"
"These are the 2913 Palestinian children killed by the Israeli military this month, as of Thursday, October 26. As the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza intensify, we recognize with horror and grief that this death toll is already inaccurate.
We demand a ceasefire now to save lives. To stop a genocide. The Israeli military has already erased 47 entire Palestinian families from Gaza’s population registry; all members of the family, from all generations, are dead. This is loss beyond measure.
The U.S. is also responsible for this horror. 80% of the bombs that the Israeli military drops on Gaza, that are used to kill these children, are American-made. We are called to do everything we can to stop this genocide.
As we continue to demand a ceasefire and fight for a future where everyone is free and equal and safe, we refuse to forget these lives. We will always affirm that every life is precious.
Every single one of these deaths was preventable. When we say Never Again—for anyone, this is who we mean. Never Again is right now."
"Here’s what you’re not being told: The most pressing threats to our safety as Jewish students do not come from tents on campus. Instead, they come from the Columbia administration inviting police onto campus, certain faculty members, and third-party organizations that dox undergraduates. Frankly, I regret the fact that writing to confirm the safety of Jewish Ivy League students feels justified in the first place. I have not seen many pundits hand-wringing over the safety of my Palestinian colleagues mourning the deaths of family members, or the destruction of Gaza’s cherished universities.
I am wary of a hysterical campus discourse – gleefully amplified by many of the same charlatans who have turned “DEI” into a slur – that draws attention away from the ongoing slaughter in the Gaza Strip and settler violence in the occupiedWest Bank. We should be focusing on the material reality of war: the munitions our government is sending to Israel, which kill Palestinians by the thousands, and the Americans participating in the violence. Forget the fringe folks and outside agitators: the CUAD organizers behind the campus protests have rightfully insisted on divestment as their most important demand of the Columbia administration, and on sustained attention to the situation in Palestine.
And we are not alone. College campuses across the United States have followed Columbia’s lead.
And so, it is my hope that we can all learn from their examples to remain clear-eyed about the stakes of this crisis and focus on the actual violence being perpetrated in all of our names. "
*It doesn't specify that you can only be an American citizen to fill this out
*The questions are heavily loaded with bias (language like "violent immigrants" and "stopping Hamas"), there's a comment section at the end where you can point out that biased language if you want to
"Take note, Butcher Biden. The ancestors of the Ireland that you claim to be from disown you. Keep our country out of your mouth. And as for [Predient of the European Commission Ursula] von der Leyen and Genocidal Germany, with your words and deeds supporting Israel in the ICJ, not in our name. The people of Europe stand with Palestine and with South Africa."
Irish Member of the European Parliament, Clare Daly 16 Jan 2024.
My Jewish friends and I hosted a religious service to mourn Palestinians and pray for peace. I loved connecting with other pro-Palestine Jewish people and expressing our support. Campus is super hostile to anyone who’s Palestinian, Muslim, Arab, or even just sympathetic to the cause right now. We needed it!
