sorry but the idea of bruce being dick's father in his mid 20s. he's always a little tired but otherwise he's young and looks it too. he can pick dick up with one hand to put him on his shoulders. he doesn't know jack about taking care of kids. they play a game that they both love where bruce picks him up and just like... throws him off of the spiraling staircase to watch how he catches himself in the air and lands unharmed. they play soccer together in the backyard and bruce is so young and spry and he can do a bicycle kick (dick goes to school and tells everyone that bruce can do a bicycle kick. not to flex but he's really cool guys.) he lets dick make dino nuggets as their dinner three nights in a row when alfred is gone and they make a stupid big everything but the kitchen sink sundae and split it afterwards. kid you're killing me, he says, because he has a sweet tooth that alfred doesn't enable. maybe sometimes they argue and argue bad, especially as dick grows up, but at the end of the day that's his dad.

one day like ten fifteen years later when damian is young dick looks at bruce and all the sudden what happened.... his dad has crow's feet and his hair is graying a little...! that sort of tiredness that people get as they age! he's still strong he's the fucking batman but when damian wants to play a game (being hurled off the balcony into the pool) bruce looks at dick and smiles and he's got lines on his face. he's aging. and that's still bruce but he doesn't laugh with his head thrown back anymore and he doesn't style his hair the way he used to when he was in his 20s and he's stopped wearing the loose button ups with the first button undone he wore when he picked him up from school in the convertible. his dad is getting older and even bruce wayne can't escape the passage of time. he tells damian no being thrown off the roof. damian protests. but grayson says you used to throw him off the staircase when he was my age. bruce throws his hands up and turns away and gives dick a look before he goes that tells him he'll be in his office and if there happens to be a loud splash from the pool... well that's none of his business is it.

Small but significant character moments that I actually really adore are from both the times we see the boys as tots. There is a reoccurrence that happens in both of them that I find so incredibly interesting.

For the turtle tot short, Splinter leaves the boys with weapons. In the short, Raph is the one who suggests they do “what Lou Jitsu would do” and Leo is the one who takes point when Splinter comes back to reprimand them. Leo, in taking point, is the one to defend them and get Splinter off their tails.

And then, in the flashback regarding the Kuroi Yōroi helmet, Raph is the one who grabs and throws “Skully” as a way to replace their missing ball which breaks it into pieces, but Leo is the one who speaks for the group and rushes into action to fix the teapot.

I love this for multiple reasons, but the biggest are how it shows that Raph has always been inclined toward the bold and fun and making the plans to include his brothers in what he loves and believes they’d love, whereas Leo has always been inclined to be the “Face” of the group and shoulder the attention even if it’s potentially negative all while coming up with on the spot attempts to fix the situation.

I heard y'all bring up Fae! Gaz and my brain immediately went brrrr. I just love him sm. As for his darling, and this is just a random thought I had so take it with a grain of salt, but since you're saying that he deals in well, deals, how about he meets his Darling who's in especially dire straits, but she has a very unusual and large request of him. She'd like him to make everyone in her hometown disappear without a trace, with no one to remember them. And when Gaz reminds her that this favor comes at a steep price, he's a little put off by how resigned and matter of fact she is to all of this. Kinda like he asks her, "What are you getting out of all this?" and she replies "Peace of mind." Sorry for the word vomit, but I thought I'd share this with you! 😅

OK Aaah! Yes thank you for sending me your Gaz thoughts. I am percolating. I think this is a big ask for the Fae Man, too big an ask... There's a bend in the forest, a bow in the trail where it moves to avoid the faerie mound. The soft grass and clover that always grows mushrooms in perfect circles, a place that sensible people avoid like the plague. Unless they have very good, or very poor, reason to be there. You stop just at the edge of the path, steps away from the lush green.

You wrap your arms around yourself, one last hug before you go. A kindness only you can afford yourself. The air is still as you step off the path, your feet carrying you to the nearest circle. You drop to your knees, eyes squeezed shut as you stretch your fingers through the grass between the red caps. You don't know how this is supposed to work, but you're desperate.

"Please," You whisper, "please," you implore. A hand settles on your head, soft, gentle for who it must be touching you.

"What's wrong, bug?" A kind voice asks above you, "Don't you have anyone else to cry to?"

You shake your head under the hand, his fingers pet through your hair sympathetically. "No, you never do, do you?" He mumbles to himself, you open your eyes to look up at him. He's crouched in the center of the circle, elbow resting on his knee, chin propped in his hand, he smiles at you. You've never seen anyone look so warmly at you. "What can I do for you?"

"I want to leave," You tell him plainly. He shrugs.

"So leave." You flinch.

"It's not that easy."

"Sure it is, pick a direction and start walking." He raises a brow at you, fingers sliding along a strand of your hair before dropping it, he pokes your forehead, "Tell me what you really want."

"I want you to steal me away," You say, it bubbles up in your throat and drips golden from your lips. You cough, heaving magical truth. "I want to be forgotten, I want to be anyone but myself, I want to leave without the heartache of leaving." He taps your forehead again.

"That's enough." He tells you, you speak your Name before the gold leaves you and his hand snaps over your lips. "That's enough," He snarls, annoyance flashing in his eyes. You both know it's an offer he can't resist. He sighs, watching you with something bordering on boredom.

"Stupid girl," He says finally, "you don't care what it costs, do you?" You shake your head, his hand over your mouth moves with you. He stands, pulling you up with him. When he releases you it's only to hold his hand out to you. "Come on then, of your own volition."

You don't hesitate, taking his hand and letting him drag you into the circle. He holds you so close against his chest, tips your head back and kisses you like he's pouring honey down your throat. You swallow the offered succor, and forget.

I love sashisu because they all very much love each other and are best friends but the shoko erasure is so blatant that it makes for a very interesting dynamic. Like yeah obviously she was part of everything that happened. Not that any of them would realise if you asked them though.

Following up on uncle Kiri, what's your take on kiri and others becoming parents before bk, and his attitude towards all that? I imagine it's super conflicting being """"left behind"""" but also the questions around self worth and if he's "__ enough' to become a parent?

OOOOH HMM !! you know, i will write about dad bakugou all day, every day bc that's what i like to read and write but !! i do think he would have a hard time deciding if that's what he wanted ?? i don't think he thinks about it for a while, and then i think he tells himself he shouldn't have them, for a few reasons. mainly bc of his career and all that it entails, and also — bc he must wonder if he would be a good parent !!! he'll tell himself this for a bit, and he'll brush the topic off if it's ever brought up because he "doesn't think it's a good idea for him" but it's never explicitly bc he doesn't want them, if that makes sense ?? tbh i think it would take a very supportive partner for him to openly tell himself that's what he wants. like, someone loving and trusting him enough to be a father would help ease some of his worries, i think.

BUT ANYWAY. regarding kirishima, i actually had this perfect vision of them at a bbq, of course, except kiri's got his FOUR KIDS running around LOL and one of them coming up to bakugou and he's just looking at it like 🤨🤨🤨 akfbdjsja and aww, wouldn't it be cute if, once bakugou is expecting a child, kirishima lets him come over and learn how to change diapers ?? 🥺 let him practice burping and how to swaddle them up when they're so squirmy 🥺🥺🥺 CUTE !!

i think — his feelings in the situation of being around his friends that have children would really depend on whether he has a partner or not he feels comfortable with, tbh. like if it’s just him, i feel like he's non-stop looking at all these kids and his peers and telling himself, "yup, just not in the cards for me", almost like he's trying to convince himself he's fine with being without, though i definitely think he would, deep down, feel like ".......but why not me ?? 🥺" WAAAHHHH but !! on the fun, flip side, if he was with someone, i think he would honestly try to be more observant of how kids are ?? if that makes sense ?? When i say i want to hang out with weirdos I do not mean "I want to hang with gay people and that's my marker for whether or not someone is weird." I'm not saying "weird" and meaning "vaguely aro" or "polyam" or "nonbinary" or whatever. Those are not personality traits. They tell you nothing about what that person is like. If i say I need more weird people in my social circle I'm talking about people who are weird. People who aren't like, going with the grain of any community based on literally anything. I have standards for this. I'm looking for like. People who won't blink if I say i only ever enter my house through the window or when I talk about drinking gasoline and then do it and they see I'm not joking, or people who won't think anything huge of me cracking the top of an eggshell and drinking the whole thing from the top in one mouthful. Or if they do, they do enough same-vein shit that it doesn't faze them. These are not really the same as being part of a very broad group of people who happen to have an exogender or whatever. I have met some incredibly normal (derogatory) trans people and gay people and aro people and nonbinary people. When i say weird I mean weird.

ok ok ok like i thought “the chosen” would suck cause “blah another series about the life and times of jesus” like we GET it it’s been around for CENTURIES you guys make the same damn movie all the time

but it’s actually legit really good? lots of pretty good representation! not everyone in the movie is white. actual portrayals of jewish culture instead of just ignoring that part. disabled people. matthew being autistic. characters that aren’t just two dimensional. the people in it feel like real people. there’s actual jokes, jesus cracks a few and they’re really funny?? so far nothing hateful, no gay or transgender bashing. it calls out the church for being judgemental and hateful in a way that’s very tasteful

it’s not perfect tho. jesus is…still white for some reason? despite mary not being white? and no one else around him being white? no gay people in it which is kind of a bad and a good thing…but it’s a portrayal of jesus and the people around him as human. as real life people who felt things and made jokes and rolled their eyes and stuff. also the guy they cast as jesus is pretty hot as are all the disciples. which isn’t the point or whatever but i can’t say i’m complaining. it’s free online and i think it’s worth a watch!
