So, the story of why aa5 and aa6 are so different to aa4 basically boils down to a change in the team making it (and Eshiro was part of this).
Most people know Shu Takumi wrote and directed the original trilogy of Phoenix Wright games and then worked on Apollo Justice (although the director was technically Mitsuru Endo, people tend to think of AJ as the last "Takumi" mainline game). After that, he left the Ace Attorney team to complete and release Ghost Trick in 2010, and then he became involved in the development of Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, which released in 2012.
While he was doing all of this, a "secondary" Ace Attorney team had arisen to keep working on the franchise - they had almost all worked on previous AA games and in 2009 and 2011 they were able to release the two Ace Attorney Investigations games.
The two most well-known members of this "team" are the producer Motohide Eshiro and the director Takeshi Yamazaki, and the fact that AAI2 is so beloved shows that they are by no means unable to make really, really good Ace Attorney games. But, with Takumi still busy with his other projects, and a good few years having passed since AA4, this team was asked to create a fifth Ace Attorney game in his absence.
This was, obviously, a challenge, and Capcom were likely in quite a rush to get a new mainline game out soon. Additionally, initial fan reception of AA4 was really not that good - many people hated the decision to disbar Phoenix in particular - and the game itself had many loose ends.
Eshiro, as the producer, decided that for AA5 it was better for the writers to not be held back by previous games, which manifested in what people think of now as the "no spoilers rule". This is why AA5 does not follow up on AA4, and likewise for AA6. Nowadays this decision is widely regarded as a very bad move, but on some level I empathise with it - AA has always been kind of reluctant to spoil past games, and you were always operating with the presumption that the player might be new to the series and wanted to go back to the previous games. Writing a follow-up that addressed AA4, while being acceptable to newcomers and not spoiling almost all of AA4's biggest twists, without the guy who originally came up with the story, would prove really difficult.
So they wrote Dual Destinies as a new story which followed AA4 but didn't really address it, and indulged in fanservice to try and restore the series status quo. It seems like the scenario changed a lot during development and they were pretty crunched for time, too - the final villain's models are apparently called FINALBOSS in the game files and completely broken if you look at them from any other angle.
After working on AA5, Yamazaki was apparently exhausted and didn't really want to make another Ace Attorney. Unfortunately for him, Shu Takumi was still off on his Sherlock & Souseki Victorian-Meiji Adventure, writing the Great Ace Attorney duology, and he wouldn't get done until 2017 when DGS2 came out.
Eshiro managed to persuade Yamazaki to work on AA6 by bringing him to conventions, and having seen the passion and overjoyed reactions from fans after AA5 came out, Yamazaki agreed to direct the sixth game, with Takuro Fuse (AA5 and 6's main artist) acting as co-director to ease the load. Some of AA6's cases were also created by guest writers; the SOJ artbook mentions a struggle for ideas, which explains the outlandish setting of Khura'in.
To the best of my knowledge (and I'm not sure this account is 100% accurate so anyone please feel free to correct me) this is why AA5 and AA6 are the way they are. Nobody is particularly to blame for how things turned out; there were just a couple of bad decisions along the way which has resulted in the games being looked back on by a lot of people with some contempt. Given the circumstances, I'm actually pretty impressed with how enjoyable Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice are, even if they don't reach the heights of the trilogy.
Yamazaki left Capcom in 2019. Eshiro went on to produce Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2, and I'm pretty sure he's still at Capcom.
What all of this means for the next Ace Attorney title is completely speculation, but the short version of the story is that Shu Takumi has finally come back from getting milk Herlock Sholmes Jail writing other games, and seems to be getting hyped up by capcom as the "Director of the Ace Attorney Series". This makes it very likely he will direct and write the next Ace Attorney game. At present we have no idea what this means - he could follow up on AA4's story as well as he's able, he could write another Phoenix game, he might go rogue and write an Athena game, he might do something completely different. But the next AA game will likely be around the quality of AA1-2-3-4 and DGS, not another AA5/6 situation.
As for the producer, this comes from the November 2020 leaks (which was very real - it's where we first got the TGAA localisation confirmed), but the only thing we heard about their projected AA7 was that it would be produced by a guy called Yasayuki Makino. He also produced The Great Ace Attorney collection, and if you read his dev blogs from that release, he credits AA4 for getting him into the series initially, and generally seems to be a huge Ace Attorney fan himself, pushing hard for TGAA to get a worldwide re-release after its unimpressive initial sales (and look how well that's worked out...!)
That's basically the story. I think AA7 will be great, actually, but at this point I will literally take anything, Capcom please my family is starving

Going to be rambling insanely about Ghost and probably what his feelings on the monarchy would be, coming from one deeply damaged povo to another.
Anyway, specifically around the time the parasite in chief in her idiot hat (thanks Eccleston lub u) died and passed said idiot hat on, I was seeing a lot of (fun and gentle-ribbing, mind you!) posts about Ghost getting razzed about the queen croaking and maybe him being sad about it or something - I don’t really remember bc I have shit for brains and I just latch onto what bits my adhd will allow.
SO. I really don’t think Bruv Innit gave two shits about Liz buying the farm, bc he grew up working class in a working class town to a drug addicted, drug peddling dad, and a fairly nondescript mom who likely didn’t have a way to get her and her kids out of that shit situation (per ‘09 MW lore and some presumption). I imagine dude was dragged around a shitload of council estates and his dad’s friends’ shitty crash pads, no stability whatsoever, where food insecurity was a big ass forever-looming deal, mom had no idea if her 20 year old vauxhall was going to make it another trip to her minimum wage part time job, and school was forever on the back burner bc when it came to school supplies/trips vs eating and keeping the lights on. You can guess which one won.
If we’re also going with him being about 35-40ish, he would’ve been 10-12ish or so around Diana’s divorce and then her death. So, here’s this starving, horrendously abused kid, with his starving, horrendously abused mother and little brother, drowning in a system that is pretty much just letting them sink to the bottom, nothing is being done about the evil sperm donor that ruins everything for them, and he’s obliterated constantly by TV coverage and tabloids and radio DJs talking about this goddamned family’s stupid fucking drama. Charles cheated, Diana left, her poor boys in their fancy private schools with their endless wealth and glowing skin and brand new clothes that don’t stink of consignment shops are sad.
Sorrows - sorrows, prayers. 🫶
It’s a story he’s seen countless times, the only difference is money and coverage. And, realistically, the women in the stories he knows aren’t killed in car wrecks, they’re killed by their infuriated husbands who think they’re owed something catching up. Maybe that’s why his mom doesn’t leave the cocksucker that trapped her, she could’ve ended up another council house Diana that no one gave a shit about.
He grows up, becomes a butcher’s apprentice, joins the army. Straightens his brother out, makes sure his mom is set up nice, finally beats the shit out of his dad. And all the while, there looms the most fucking pointless, parasitic family in England: living off taxes taken from the public, god knows how much land and how many castles, even owning all the fucking swans on the island.
Relics, vampires, leeches.
But, you know, twenty years down the road, he’s pushing 40, his services to the country are done in the dark, the family he tried so badly to save were brutally cut down anyway, and when he goes to Tesco, the price of a fifth of piss Smirnoff is insane, and he’s still got Soap swimming in his head mid-rant bc his mam’s fucking knee replacement appeal has been denied for the third time and she can’t even walk anymore, Gaz is moving for the second time in a year bc he just can’t afford to live close to his parents even on his salary, meanwhile there was a stretch where it looked like Philip was surviving solely by being pumped full of virgin blood and straight stem cells.
So, yeah, if anything he probably said cheers when the news broke and cracked a couple extra jokes that day.

what's your process for coloring like? the look of that elendira is so textured and interesting, i can't figure out how you do it
AA THANK YOUU ^__^ !! textures & brushwork are my favorite things abt my art, so im happy you find it interesting hehe . its SOO cool to look at & so much fun to draw imo
i prefer to color by building in layers , if that makes sense 🤔!! hundreds of them !! such that i'm always drawing on Top of previous layers, working from big & messy blocks of color to, eventually, small and refined blocks of color until it feels processed enough. as a result, i rarely ever erase (!!) and i rarely ever draw lineart aside from the initial sketch
a rough, patchy textured brush is key here, as it'll give you dimension and variability w/ your colors. i recommend "Brush and various sets of fountain pen style (万年筆風ブラシと色々セット)" on Clip Studio (ID: 1679706) !! :3
im terrible with explanations though, so i'm going to show a step by step of that elendira drawing if you dont mind :3
sketch layer !! because i mostly render through color alone, i try to make this as close to the finished thing as possible . ^__^ i hateee drawing the same thing over and over and like the expressivity and movement of my sketches anyways , so the more i can preserve at this step, the better. if u were to look at a side by side of my sketches and finished pieces, youd notice a lot of those og lines are present in the final drawing :3
2. flats !! pretty self explanatory, but the solid background gives me an idea of where the figure begins & ends while the colors themselves help distinguish whats what . i stick to ambient lighting @ this point because im usually not sure what i want to do with the overall palette or lighting yet . having two tones (ex, dark and light in her hair or dark and light on her skin) can also help in identifying key features early on that u wanna preserve. as you build layer by layer, sometimes these areas will remain untouched and i think it makes for a rly lovely feel at the end
3. start blocking !!! to be totally honest with you, i dont really know what i do here HAHAHA. like i just scribble the shit out of it, usually focusing on what i might want to do with lighting (ex: grey areas to accentuate folds in her costume). i think i like to start "erasing" the sketch where possible by coloring on top of it .. like if you look at her hat or her arm , you can tell i'm starting to get a sense of the shapes i like vs the ones i dont. it's at this point that the final image starts to emerge in my mind , like im gradually pulling her from a tarpit of scribbles until shes recognizable lol. chipping away at the marble until i can free her. tbh.
4. keep blockingg...when u think u are done , block some more . as you can probably see, the brushwork becomes more intentional as i add more shape, with specific focus on line weight. this is also where the patchiness of that textured brush comes in - notice how none of the colors seem totally uniform (ex: the red cross or the original sketchlines for her waist). you can see bits and pieces of the layers underneath pushing through and i really like that !! ^__^ its very fun and sketchy to me, so i try to keep them around. those areas are also great to colorpick from, because it'll give you "new" colors to work w/ that are already part of your palette.
5. GRADIENTS & GRADIENT MAPS !! TONE CURVE !! COLOR PICKER !! this is the best stage tbh. flatten your image so its all on one layer and just go crazy with all the color settings in ur program. add gradient layers and set them to darken, or overlay, or subtract, orrr. lighten or dodge glow or divide or soft/hard light.! OR!! edit the hue, saturation, luminosity and contrast.and then color pick from these edits, block even more on top of ur image, flatten, color edit again, etc. etc. until u feel satisfied.
ANYWAYSS . i hope that makes sense @__@ sry i wrote this out and deleted it like 23 times trying to make it make More sense but thats what ive got HAHA i hope its useful though :3 !

What got you into livio? Was it fic, art, another friend, or did you just see him and go: “wowza.”

there are…. SEVERAL factors to why i fixated on livio so here it is. ive written this elsewhere before but HERE IT IS AND HERE IT GOES:
Livio was a pivotal character in my absolute favourite episodes in Tristamp. Episodes 5-7 is one of the most breathtaking things I’ve seen in anime in a while. It’s not often you see such *strong* visual storytelling and show not tell in an anime, the BEAUTIFUL score and sound design, and seeing the tragedy of the blessing children, with the wonderfully done 2d animation, having one of the best action sequences in the season (Vash vs Livio), and how meaningful every moment was and how it aids in seeing the character’s motivations (especially Wolfwood). I could go on.
The found family between Livio and Wolfwood got to me. YES I KNOW. IM PREDICTABLE. Their moments, both in their backstory and when Wolfwood wakes him up...was so warm and tender it was unbelievable. How gentle they were as children, vs how the Eye of Michael made them to be now. Man that hurt. Also the bit in their childhood friendship montage including bonding by trying to smoke worm legs was INCREDIBLY FUNNY
And on that note. I think part of why love Livio is also because episode 7 was one of the FUNNIEST viewing experiences of anything in my LIFE. So story time I was watching this show for the first time with my older sister and mom, and when Vash was telling Wolfwood that in order to save Livio he needed to Make him remember (“There has to be something he cant forget") I joked offhandedly "lol wolfwood revives livio with weed" and then??? half a minute later THEY ACTUALLY WENT THERE?2?1?1?1?11?1?11?? WOLFWOOD ACTUALLY LEGITIMATELY REVIVED LIVIO WITH THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP AND WEED AND WE WERE LOSING OUR SHITS AND SCREAMINGGGG and then right after that Livio [REDACTED]s and then we were like
4. DVDJDBDJDJDKDJDKDFHKDDK but anyway yeah like, conceptually the episodes Livio in was RIDICULOUS but bro. I am UTTERLYYY OBSESSED with how they Made made it work???? So well??? Somehow those were the moments hit hardest emotionally for me. It was so, SO good.
5. Also Tristamp Livio relatable to me on an insanely specific level….like can’t move on from the best friend you made before you were 12 who had to leave from life circumstances, whose name also starts with “Nico” specific? Yeah me too Livio
6. And finally just. Knowing that Livio has SO MUCH MORE going for him in the source material? I haven’t read the manga yet but I’m so unbelievably excited to see more of this character, be it in Trimax or the next season of Tristamp. I love him and Razlo’s design and he intrigues me greatly from what I’ve seen and heard from manga readers. I’m vibrating at the idea of seeing him rigged up and animated in his full buff cowboy glory

Hello I saw your tag PLEASE tell me about Annabelle Von Gears she seems right up my alley
OUGIYGH OH BOY LET ME RAMBLE ABOUT MY OC, THIS IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE STRUCTURED HORRIBLY LMAO—
So! Annabelle von Gears is my character for an upcoming homebrew campaign my friend's been wanting to run for about a year; She's put so much work into it, it's fascinating! (So sorry if u weren't expecting ttrpg stuff, but the floodgates have opened, and as a man with a special interest in ttrpgs I'm not going to shut up now—)
In very simple terms, Annabelle is a porcelain warforged/robotic wizard (bladesinger, specifically) who grew tired of her life and runs off to go adventuring. I adore her and this WILL be an infodump under the readmore!!!

Augh okay I have no idea if I'll be able to get everything down, especially her thoughts on her family and herself, but here we go-
In terms of personality, I've been keeping it a bit vague; I'd like to have some room to build upon it when we finally play, and I've found it's easier to go off a general vibe.
So: Annabelle, at the start, is really just trying to do her job as a secretary and is very bored over the whole thing. While disruptions in the day can annoy her, she secretly delights in a few of them, because hey- that's another break in monotony, baby! After discovering free will later on, she's a lot more impulsive and upbeat, but still attempts to maintain her air of formality and fanciness. She most likely has a very strong sense of what's considered "fair."
Due to Annabelle's upbringing, she'll probably be a bit rude and insensitive to others and their plights at times- and despite her sarcasm, she seems unable to detect it in others?
I definitely need to think more about how to include some knightly traits for her, and yknow, the whole thing of self vs duty, but... eh, yknow. Just vibes so far ☆
Anyway, the fact she's not literally built for a life of adventuring does nothing to dissuade her, btw; she'd rather do this than go back to a boring job.
Fun(?) facts:
Annabelle was based off the idea of "hey, what if a porcelain robot got hurt a lot and had to be fixed up with gold? Wouldn't that be cool or what"
Annabelle has programmed codes! Some of them include not being able to enter certain parts of the Von Gears manor, and being physically unable to harm her father figure (She can certainly try, but it's extremely difficult to break through those instructions)
She can sleep standing up, and yes, this probably will unnerve her party members very much ☆ (She can also stand completely still! More than once she's startled a foreign diplomat by blending in with the various statues and automatons in the manor, and so she's not allowed to go into those rooms anymore lmao)
Annabelle would really like collecting vinyls <3
She has the emblem of her home kingdom painted on her shoulder blades/upper back (it's an eagle with its wings outstretched!)
She can remove her face plate, and getting fixed by an artificer or mechanic is a bit uncomfortable :-/ It's like going to the dentist.
Annabelle is supposed to have a German accent- but I'm unable to do one. 😔
Her favorite term of endearment is to call someone "butterfly"; but so far she exclusively refers to only her sister with it.
She's unable to cry; she's not built with tear ducts! :-(
She's probably got a list full of silly little things to do while adventuring- like sneak into a building, or take part in a bar fight.
Taking heat damage is flavored as such: Her porcelain coverings are actually pretty heat-resistant! However, her insides aren't. It almost acts like an oven... (good luck venturing the kingdom of Helosh, love! ouch)
I'm absolutely going to find out how she can stim with her magic. No one can stop me /lh
And now for her general story:
(note: I'm only putting in the most basic information for this. There's so much worldbuilding, but I sadly don't have time to ramble about all that. Again, sorry if this is incoherent, augh)
On the continent of Mysterra, most warforged reside in the country of Tectonica, which is ruled by Warrick von Gears (I forget his exact official title), a warforged who's been around for a very long time- definitely more than 100 years.
Following Mysterra's calendar, in 1835 Warrick decided he wanted a family with his wife Eleanor (also a warforged), and on the 19th of the Month of Talis, he commissioned the construction of Aria as his daughter– Annabelle was then added as a sudden addition. It took a year to complete the both of them, at which point artificial souls were placed inside their chests, and they were taken home to Tectonica's capital of Skysummit.
Despite being awoken at the same time, Annabelle is considered the more mature out of the two- mentally being in her 20s, with Aria being around 12- and primarily functions as Warrick's secretary. She arranged meetings, schedules, etc, and traveled along with him to diplomatic meetings to the capitals of other countries- along the way she picked up how to speak Gnomish and Draconic, as Windberg and Balaur do frequent dealings with Tectonica.
But eventually, she got bored with... well, just about all of it. It all began to seem monotonous, with only traveling for meetings, chess games with Warrick, and the shenanigans of Aria to break it all up. (She cares very much for her sister; it's almost the energy of "If this one favorite coworker wasn't here I would've quit a Long Time Ago" /hj). She wasn't really allowed to leave the estate without permission- and the thought to do so anyway had never occurred to her- so she had to find a few ways to avoid completely losing it.
Despite the fact she was built with a variety of coded spells to ensure self-defense, Annabelle began to study the variety of spellbooks and fiction in the Von Gear estate to stave off her boredom and restlessness- as well as daydreaming, becoming a lover of gossip, practicing swordfighting with some decorative blades hanging up on the wall, etc; all while wondering if something was wrong with her. Because she was built for this job, so surely she shouldn't be dissatisfied, right? [And what's with that strange tugging in her chest sometimes..?] But nothing ever seemed wrong when the mechanics showed up for yearly checks, so she didn't really ever bring it up in conversation to Warrick.
[While she loves the other Von Gears, her discontent with her current life makes her feels separate from them. Combined with her job as a secretary, she tries to be formal towards them and keep a distance– but she makes a few exceptions. She has fun with Aria, and despite her insistence she's really not part of the family, she does participate in family game night, and has accidentally called Warrick "dad" more than once. Anyway...]
And so, in the year of 1842, Annabelle von Gears is still the secretary of Tectonica's ruler— that is, until a famed Artificer is late for his scheduled meeting with Warrick. This catapults the events of the campaign, as well as Annabelle meeting her future party— an artificer searching for her missing father, a barbarian seeking revenge for the destruction of her town, a ranger with the last known dragon egg, and a paladin trying to prevent his kingdom from being destroyed by a volcano.
She’ll be sent by Warrick to join them for a quest, much to her surprise, and will discover that adventuring is just what she needs in her life. She runs off to join them, promising her sister she'll write to her.
Being an impulsive woman once she's discovered she has free will, Annabelle's bound to get into trouble and gain all sorts of scars- and probably a lot of them, since she literally isn't built for adventuring– as well as probably gaining... odd visions? And passing knowledges of skills previously unbeknownst to her? Strange...
While adventuring, Annabelle will occasionally feel guilt for leaving her job and family behind.
And oh, the Reveal! During her journey, Annabelle von Gears will eventually discover the truth that her soul isn't artificial like she was told: She had been a flesh-and-blood person whose soul had been ripped out (either from a living body or the afterlife) and rewired, just like every other warforged.... Which would explain all the odd memories and possibly even her want for adventure- she had been a person before.
And surely Warrick must've known this whole time, right?
(cue, hopefully, a climactic daughter-father fight)
(There's also an idea the DM and I have where Annabelle encounters the "resurrected" body of who she used to be, possibly leading to the body attempting to kill her so it can get its soul back. We're going to have so much fun with the horror elements)

IM BACK! First of all, thank you for your work 🩷🩷🩷🩷 u have 43 works!! Thats like,wow omg I still remember when I read ur first one (I think?) But the one with wild and four fighting over if a tomato is a fruit or not. Now, Wolf Pack? I LOVE IT!! So cutee I love how Time and Twilight take care of Wild (and when wild was playing/experimenting with Kass instrument, such a mood, I did the same when I was younger and with a doorknob it was never the same) also your avian boys? Precious, I love them too and, even if Twilight with Wild are my favorite dynamic, seeing Wild-Hyrule-Legend is also cute, I like how their personalities contrasts, the most recent one, the Wild with Warriors about memories is bittersweet, I feel so sad about warriors situation (trying to be vague to avoid spoiling anyone) but the ending was pretty sweet, and finally and my most beloved, Eldritch Wild 🩷🩷🩷🩷 I love him soooo muchhh, I still feel sad that the chain are still scared of him but yeah, I don't blame them, still, the scene with Sun and Wild was pretty funny, when Wild started sneezing like crazy I could only think of a kitten after taking too much catnip XD also! With the fierce deity!!! I agree with warriors, It was like watching a Dog (more of a puppy if u ask me) asking to play with a Wolf xd I'm happy Wild finally has someone else who isn't scared of him! I'm excited to see what else will u write (and kinda hoping we get to see when Wild claims twilight 👀👀)

First off, THANK YOU I love your rambles so much! And that sounds about right; Tomato Fruitcake I think was the first thing I posted! It's fun to go back and read that and compare it to now.
Wolf Pack! That one has been fun to explore little bits and pieces; very relationship and character-based vs plot. And it's fun to have a Wild who's fairly non-verbal and relies heavily on the wolves to learn how to act.
My sweet wing bois; it is such an excuse to write Triple Threat dynamics since we have a few stories of Wild and Twi/Wolfie! I have a lot of fun with unique spins on each story, which helps keep it interesting to write. Especially when some of the ideas are the same each time (there's only so many times you can write out the same starting character growth before you need a break lol).
Poor Warriors. I actually relate to his personality the most, which means he gets the short end of some sticks.
Eldritch Wild! I think I mentioned last night that I never expected him to be so popular, yet here we are. It's been fun to build out lore and (hopefully) weave some of it in chapters. And seeing people's thoughts and guesses is super fun! I do plan to have something more focused on Wild and Twi for E!Wild, but it's probably a ways out.

Arite I’m typing up my Star Wars spn AU buckle up my dears;;
Castiel is a Jedi Knight at the time of Order 66, Jack Kline is his Padawan.
They are off world when Order 66 starts, evading Troopers they get to the best idea of safety they can manage.
They succeed at being off the radar for X amount of time, getting by, living quietly and despite everything Castiel keeps teaching Jack behind closed doors. In his mind if he were to stop, the Empire wins.
Jack is mid teens when everything shifts.
One day they slip, or something let’s slips, and they are set upon by Stormtroopers and an Inquisitor. Pause: inquisitors are Jedi hunters, Jedi turned Sith in effect. I may be wrong but I'm here for the angst.
As Cas' is cornered, Jack is knocked out and taken away as the Inquisitor stands over Castiel musing over whether to do the same or kill him. With their pause, Castiel strikes and bolts in the chaos.
After getting tf out of dodge, he eventually enlists the help of two scoundrels, Dean and Sam. Dean does the best business sell of his life, or so he thinks, whilst Cas is running out of time and agrees.
I've just decided the brothers have a BD Unit. Namely for him to be very tall on Sam's shoulder and for Dean to bicker and mother it.
Cas' tells them he's a Jedi after the first skirmish they get into, and gives them an out if they no longer want to help. The brothers say fuck that. Where to next?
Ultimately they discover X location where Jack is being held the Empire. Cas attempts to give the brothers another out, they shut that down bc Cas!! We are ride or die for u and ur kid!!
They formulate their plan and arrive at the base with the old ‘we captured this guy for u, payment plz’ routine.
Forcing their way through the base. Tech boy Sam time to shine bb! He discovers the purpose of the building, and discovers where Jack is being held, bruised and exhausted.
The facility they find themselves in is one where force-sensitive kids, and where previous Jedi are made into Sith/Inquisitors. The process is through pain and agony. Jack seems to be the only one around, this is concerning for a multitude of reasons.
They all bolt for the ship, but the Inquisitor from earlier cuts them off. She names/reveals herself as Inquisitor Abaddon. Recognising Cas' and having been waiting for him; They have unsettled business.
Cas gives Jack to Sam and tells them to run so he can hold her off.
Cue This Exchange.
As Cas and Abaddon fight, Sam and Dean get on board the Impala. They settle Jack on a bunk, Dean tells Sam to ready take off and goes to help Cas.
Sam tries to stop him but Dean turns and regales him with his very brief but bold plan.
Cas is about to be struck down when the Impala fires down on Abaddon giving Dean the opening to dart in and rescue Cas, carrying/pulling him back to the ship as Sam just takes pot shots.
Cas is badly wounded, Dean is working like a mad man to get him stabilised as well as seeing to the kids wounds. Sam comes to help when he has the Impala in a safer territory (probs lingering in hyperspace).
Meanwhile Cas’ consciousness is wandering amongst the force. Recovering from his 1v1 with Abaddon, reflecting on his journey thus far and what the future holds now.
Sam gets Jack stable, Cas is still touch and go and Dean is getting more than a touch frantic.
Cas is just, self vs self in the force. Inevitably he recentres himself and defeats his Sith visage. This allows him to properly start healing through ✨the force✨.
Dean keeps vigil over Jack and Cas despite Sam’s concerns, Jack wakes first. Dean introduces himself and does his best ‘your dad is going to be just fine’ talk, despite knowing Jack probably knows more about Cas’ state through the force than he does in that moment. Dean also catches Jack up in the most kid friendly way possible, regaling him with the adventures they went on before they finally found Jack.
Cas wakes for a moment to Jack giggling away at Dean’s stories, he dare not disturb them until one of them notices, he goes back to sleep before they can.
Dean keeps vigil by Cas' side, meanwhile a recovering Jack is exploring the ship and helping out where he can. The brothers also helps him through any trauma that presents itself. BD becomes his new best buddy!
Days later and safely landed and settled on a quiet foresty planet, Cas finally wakes with Dean by his side. They talk quietly, and they eek ever closer to talking about Feelings.
They end up staying on that planet for an age, and eventually Cas says he and Jack need to leave.
Many emotions abounds, Jack doesn't want to go but he knows how they have to live.
Classic 'you should tell him how you feel' talk from Sam for Dean. Classic Dean 'shut up sammy' retort.
It comes to the day Jack and Cas are going to go and -
...
And I don't know how it ends.

I'm here to "bless" you with more Shuuma scenarios, so what if Shu accidentally made Yuma real sad maybe even cry (like they're were arguing and Yuma got a bit too frustrated or Shu accidentally said something that hurt Yuma a bit too much *gasp* maybe accidentally said something bad about his scars, Idk why would he do that but sometimes things just slip) now Shu has a sad Yuma and three mad Mukamis after him. What will he do? Since we all know that he really isn't the best at apologizing or it might take him a lot of time and all his pride away. Will he just drop his all pride apoligize (I mean he would do that for Yuma, right?), comfort Yuma and still get AT LEAST THE Death talk from the Mukamis OR will he pull it off as he usually does and not apologize but get attacked by the three mad Mukamis and make Yuma REALLY sad *gasp again* maybe even a bit insecure? ("what if I'm just not good enough to apologize from" or "He actually meant what he said/did he feels that way and maybe he is right) DISCUSS..

you've touched on stuff that's happened in canon so if anybody is curious, I recommend yuma's LE route and the shu vs yuma cd! for all your "shu makes yuma upset and then tries his best to apologize" needs :) yuma even cries!
this is a very relevant thing that happens to shu and yuma frequently! shu, in his mind, has had a lot to feel apologetic for. he spends a lot of time feeling deeply guilty, but it's not really as simple as apologizing most of the time. for one thing, shu often feels that he can make up for the suffering he caused yuma by avoiding him (so he can't hurt yuma again!!) or torturing himself (he attracts yuma's hatred on purpose, because he thinks he deserves it!!). of course, we know these aren't good apologies, and yuma knows that too! I think yuma's tried to rid shu of these habits, but that's not so easy either
I'll point to some healthier apology attempts from shu, too, so you know that he really means it and he's trying: in LE, he does his best to revive the flowers in Eden's garden for yuma. and in the shu vs yuma cd, he tries to apologize using words! this only doesn't work because yuma cuts him off before he can finish.
...which is why there's an extra layer of difficulty to apologizing! yuma often just doesn't want to hear it!
I think there's complicated reasons for this. yuma is really frustrated by how guilty shu feels, in a way. yuma feels as if he's a new person now—Yuma Mukami rather than edgar—and he'd rather that shu recognize him as Yuma Mukami. this means letting go of the past and all the guilt in it, which is difficult for shu to do (I mean, he spent hundreds of years being guilty!!). at our current point in the dialovers story, yuma's already forgiven all that stuff anyway, so he says.
the good news is that yuma tends to just forgive people on his own. you'd be so surprised. I'm especially thinking of shu's LE route when reiji made this big deal of atoning for the horrible things he did to yuma and yuma's like "what the fuck are u talking about, I already forgave u for that" LMAO
OKAY........now that I'm done talking about canon...............
in the scenario ur describing, I think if shu made yuma cry, he'd start by giving him lots of space. I said that nicely, but really what I mean is that he'd avoid him. and go mope in bed forever. then he'd get hella yelled at by the rest of the mukamis, like "DUDE go talk to our brother right now!!!!!" but shu would rather, um, find something he can do rather than something he can say.
when shu's finally ready to make the big brave step of apologizing rather than running away, I think yuma would wave it off. change the subject quick. act like nothing happened. it's less awkward like that, right? it's embarrassing that he cried anyway, so forget it.
but I really like ur idea!! that even if yuma goes "eh, I'm over it" he's actually, deep down, still feeling hurt and insecure!!!! and right now they're in the middle of this misunderstanding where, like, shu can't apologize and yuma can't accept an apology!
in the end, I want to have faith in shu and believe that he'll get to the heart of the problem. he'll address the actual hurt that he caused yuma instead of just avoiding him, and he'll put real effort into something that will appropriately make up for it. and it'll be something that yuma has no choice but to accept. (I'll point to the "making flowers bloom" scene in LE, since it was so beautiful and so fitting :'D)
...then I think yuma will cry again ^^ but not out of sadness or hurt this time. he just didn't realize how badly he needed this. it's not always good to just brush things off when you've been hurt. then when he says "I forgive you" it means way more.

ok i do want to say. first and foremost. it is entirely possible do feel numb when they got on medication and im not going to discount that. HOWEVER. in my PERSONAL experience with depression, therapy, and medication... a lot of the times that "numb" is experiencing "stable" like you're not feeling the super highs and super lows anymore you've tapered off and entered a more... normal? ??? range of emotions im getting sleepy so i cant remember the name of it but my therapist has described tolerance and vibrations and whatever and when youre in a Downtrend you are depressed but when you're Activated (angry, worried, anxious, etc.) you're Doing things and the goal is not to seesaw as much so violently into both ends but find a safe middle ground where you're supposed to be able to manage ur emotions well. idk what's going on w lisa i cant speak to her specifics or anything but like . im fairly sure that the idea that medication "numbs" you and turns you into a zombie is not as common as media portrays? if not entirely misrepresented or a misconception? i could be totally wrong in that and am only speaking from personal experience so take that as you will

hey! is it ok to ask a wheelchair related question? i am in PT and have muscle atrophy n hyper mobility and nother things (no disorder specified) and I’m told to do these exercises and “it’s good to move when ur in pain and fatigued.” and that it’ll make it better .. but it’s hard to manage and id like to go through daily life not in pain and be able to do more things. i want a mobility aid .. I kinda think maybe a wheelchair would be best bc both of my legs and arms and back are effected.. but I know I’d be told I’m “giving up” and that I will atrophy more… n what I’m thinking is well what if I keep doing these exercises and doing walks but in my daily life also use a wheelchair or mobility aid? would I still atrophy then?.. what happens if u completely atrophy?.. idk it’s just like. when should I use a wheelchair vs not do that and keep doing the exercises to strengthen myself ? idk like when should I allow myself a wheelchair ?
I am not a medical professional so please take my advice with a grain of salt. Also my advice comes from my own personal experience with fibromyalgia, I do not have hyper-mobility, but I do know people that do.
I was in a pretty similar position last year in PT. Everyone kept telling me to keep moving, to push myself to get stronger even though it hurt. I tried, I really did, and it did help for a bit. However once November hit, everything went back to the way it was. Before November I was able to run around in the heat with only minor symptoms as long as I could take breaks. But once November hit I could barely move. So I had to make a choice. Stay in bed and join class virtually, losing the amazing experience of my program at SCBI, or find a way to cope with my situation.
Anon, when I told my rheumatologist, she laughed at me. It's like she wasn't even listening. A 15 minute appointment. I didn't even straight up ask for a wheelchair, I just brought up the possibility of exploring mobility aids as an option. She said I was too young. My therapist? She kept saying it was a terrible idea because it would cause muscular atrophy. This is a lady with no experience with fibromyalgia other than "one of her other clients has it". I decided to stop listening to those who kept giving me advice without actually listening to me and not actually having any experience with my disability (hell, my therapist kept saying I shouldn't call myself disabled as that would be giving up).
I started looking on forums for people with fibromyalgia (stuffthatworks is AMAZING) and was connected with people who have had my disorder for decades. I reached out to someone who was able to give me advice on mobility aids from the perspective of someone with fibromyalgia that had been using mobility aids for years.
I'm not saying doctors don't know anything, but many doctors stick to what they are taught rather than doing their own research or actually listening to their patients. It took a while but I finally have doctors who listen to me. Who actually check up and make sure their treatments are working. Who accepted that they didn't know what to do and would refer me to another doctor instead of throwing medicine at me.
If you aren't actually diagnosed yet, I would be wary about PT. How are they supposed to treat you in a way that won't exacerbate your condition if they don't even know what you have?
Here's my advice, do your own research. Try to find a specialist that deals with your specific issues. For me, I reached out to a spine and pain doctor who referred me to a neurologist. I got an MRI, an EEG, and a sleep study. They found out I had sleep apnea which I had no idea I had. I also went to a chiropractor who did x-rays and I found out my neck is literally backwards. Like I have mild scoliosis. I do PT with the chiropractor which is so much nicer because I use methods that don't cause pain. Everything is so gradual and personalized. Meanwhile my old PT place had me going up and down stairs because I told them I hated stairs. I can actually freaking move my neck side to side now.
Once you have a diagnosis, try to find a community forum for people with your condition. Heck if you already have a pretty good idea you can look at those forums now. Stuffthatworks has multiple communities for different health conditions.
Now about the mobility aids. Honestly? Fuck the whole atrophy thing. Think of it this way, will you really be moving more with it or without it? Without the wheelchair I go out less and stay in bed more, which causes atrophy!! With the wheelchair, I go out more, use my arms and core (manual wheelchair only tho), and have more energy to actually do the exercises my doctor prescribed. It helps me save energy for the things that matter. Wouldn't it be better for me to use my wheelchair to get to class and then do my PT exercises than to suffer through walking to class unaided and then sleep the rest of the day? Do what increases YOUR standard of living. If you can get a wheelchair or other mobility aid, go for it.
There's a reddit forum for wheelchair users that I've found useful for first timers. Also please note it can be next to impossible to get a wheelchair prescription ESPECIALLY as a young person. I would look on Craigslist or charities near you that provide wheelchairs. I got mine off Craigslist for $80 for a $500 wheelchair. For others I was able to find a rollator at goodwill for $40. They also had crutches but I didn't buy those. You can also find canes pretty much everywhere. It's good to have different levels of mobility aids for different levels of pain.
For the atrophy thing specifically, I used a wheelchair in highschool (broken ankle that would not heal) and did notice my legs atrophied a bit. But as long as you monitor your muscle weakness and do exercises that strengthen your muscles along with using the wheelchair, you should probably be fine. I have a rollator so I can take walks and get my legs moving while also still having a place to sit if needed. Also, working with a physical therapist that actually knows about your condition and accepts that sometimes you need to use your mobility device will help. You'll most likely find that it will actually become easier to do your physical therapy exercises once you stop wasting energy on simply getting about.

inheritance of sorrow : any work that references inheritance or long lines of generational sadness or deep darkness. misogyny, yearning... basically anything that references a dark past that has been experienced by many others (blood related or not)
lessons vs regrets : works that hint at the difference between learning a lesson and living a regret. learning a lesson implies it was rocky to get through, but somehow the narrator managed to get out unscathed. a regret is implied when there is deep sorrow, yearning, desire left over after an event that seemingly has not resolution.
Religion
great flood : this can allude to a great many things. a work illustrating a build up of emotions, referencing a period, etc OR i can just have felt an immense emotion when reading a work
lamb before the slaughter : linked with the family tags, mostly. but usually it means that someone had to be sacrificed for the "good of all others." utilitarian morals. can also be an illustration of innocence/purity prior to death
a baptism between my legs : oral sex
becoming god : a work references personal power of some degree. whether that is through killing others, eating them, creating them. usually i use it in reference to long periods of solitude and self reflection though.

hmmm a hard one to start with... i suppose hes driven by ... the need to have monie most of all! money makes the world go round as he might say... his ultimate goal in life would be in a comfortable place money wise so his daughter can go to college and him and his bf could live at a nice house c: (secret other ultimate goal is to become famous and have a huge mansion but he hasnt thought abt that goal in a minute)
5. is there something they want to be known for?
not really! hes in a weird middle ground where he totally enjoys not being known but he also really wants to have his hard work recognized, but also if anyone is overly nice to him he'll get like . mad . like stop . i know ur bullshitting man 🙄 i mean ofc like i said in the last uestion he WOULD like to be famous but like its different when its someone u kno vs a faceless crowd of supporters you know?

hmmmm good question... something that could grand wishes probably! vicky very much is someone that wants stuff to just HAPPEN he isnt much on working towards goals... or at least he gets frustrated when he thinks hes done what he needs to reach a goal and it doesnt happen... other than that maybe something to bring people back from the dead OR let him die forever... that part i feel is obvious, part of him knows he might outlive his bf and his daughter and it makes him upset :( bc someone puts all his eggs in one person basket then gets SUPRISED when he loses them. silly.
9. when in their life were they most scared?
absolutely when he was about to die the first time ever, like imagine being 15 and accidentally fucking up and thinking ur life is abt to be over forever. like come on. reality hits him right there and hes like oh god im not invincible . but then he is and i think that also scared the SHIT out of him... bc what do u do then... this is a guy who doesnt really think too much about himself and now suddenly he finds out hes got powers... he thinks hes like a monster or smth and doesnt know what to do w himself... plus his mom gets scared of him when he goes home and so thats making him even more fucked up but dw in a few hours/days he will be back to himself and not think about any of this :)
17. they’re crying—what did it take to make them cry?
ok so theres actually suprisingly alot that can make vicky cry! even though hes a bit of an emotionally repressed guy he still gets teary eyed over like movies, his daughter being really sweet, but something that REALLY makes him cry is like ... feeling hopeless.. this also mixes with anger for a very fun hysteria if he breaks down enough :)

im assuming you mean like . the final time but i really have no clue! though ive been imagining old age ...with abel beside him... something sweet and softer than his usual deaths ... smth different u kno.. for a guy whos so used to violence

Would u ever be comfortable taking design commissions? :-0 like if we could provide a base idea / color palette / whatever else for you. Mainly asking w a fursona in mind cause I love love love your designs and would kill 4 a pubby design from u ^^ absolutely cool if not tho!!
I would be down, i did a design comm earlier this year actually ^_^ the only thing is i need sort of more involved details from the start? so idk if it wld be worth it depending on what you have in mind...for example, i did a test run with a mutual to see if i could do design comms and I failed badly, because its very difficult for me to just work with a moodboard and really broad theme/aes (which is all i was given)
(more of what the process wld look like under cut)
but I sort of more collabed with the buyer to make the design i linked ^_^ and was given more cohesive details that helped the design actually take form in my head, like "chubby, soft + gentle, creams/blondes/browns" as well as misc details like this image
this ⬇ was even sort of the blank slate i presented em which we then worked together to make the final with after they gave more input
so yes id be down!!! + i dont need. EVERY single detail bc then you'd literally be doing all the work but Im just letting you (and others) know I definitely prefer a more involved collab sort of style so that I can tweak the creacher to your tastes as best as possible vs "here's a pinterest board of aesthetic pics and the species i want. go wild and THEN ill ask you to edit every little thing because i wasnt specific enough to begin with."

3. What’s a fic idea that you have but haven’t written yet?
dude the multitudes i think i could spend the character limit of this post listing them. opening the entire separate notes app on my phone where i keep them all. highlight reel: pacific rim chosen-one-as-in-sacrificial-lamb raleigh & stacker pentecost (you and i are the only ones who ever ran solo combat that's why i brought you here is CRAZY); james bond m(allory) vs the portrait of m(ansfield) that is very much not present in the halls of mi6 (until it is); lotr faramir and pippin and the ghost of boromir and the debt pippin owes to gondor which is not the debt that denethor demands of him. there are also like way too many little nickjasper oneshots that are sitting around waiting to be written. a selection: jasper leaving messages on nick's phone when he thinks he's dead, putting photos up + building a home together, couch fic, sleepy leather jacket fic, nick sending jasper on his first mission since they got together, 4x nick sweeping jasper off his feet, ambient new years day fic, nick meeting jasper's plane in the hangar, can you tell i am just holding them in my hands so tenderly. these are all such nothing concepts and yet theyre everything to me...
4. Do you prefer writing multi-chapter or oneshot fanfictions?
the day i write a chaptered fic again is the day i am dead in the damn ground. jk but like its the 20k oneshot unlimited scene breaks life for me i am afraid. putting in chapters gives me hives what if i have to go back and change something...ending a chapter gives the adhd a convenient place to sit down and refuse to move...all that
7. What's a trope you love to write?
depends on how broadly we are defining trope. actually i decided that this question just says "theme" instead of trope bc it was the middle of the night and i wanted to talk about Themes And Motifs. like.......guilt complex. the intersection between duty and desire. two people that have never had the luxury building a soft place to land together (because love is a place you could live in). uhhh. subversion of dark/light dichotomies (quiet and comfort and whispered secrets in the night and clarity and endings and unforgiving harshness in the light of day). Water Metaphors. that thing where a character sees their love interest in formalwear (or tactical gear. bc of. well the spy fiction) for the first time. i could go on but ive bastardized the prompt for long enough lol

the way i played with names and titles and forms of address in race for a hurricane (bond, the first mallorytanner i ever published) remains one of my most favourite things i've done with words ever in my life. like when i figured it out i was like oh. i Understand them now. there are at LEAST three layers of masks before you even start to get into real people down there. and here is a situation that strips them all away. like mallory has to accept the death of mi6 before he can allow himself to fight for it one last time but their work life balance is pretty much defined by "when you are m" and "when you are not/when you are tanner's." when it's no longer that clear-cut it takes tanner reaching for him and saying gareth for both of them to understand that what they have together exists outside and past the boundaries of m-and-his-chief-of-staff. ugh its crazy stuff
"He's always known exactly how to push Nick's buttons and Nick's not made it a secret how hot he is for him right now, all confident competence, smug and self-assured in the knowledge that he's done everything Nick wants of him - and he has. He's done it to perfection.
He reaches out and traces a finger across Jasper’s jaw, waits until he has his full attention before he lets his mouth curve with clean, shining approval.
“Oh, Jas,” he says, “my sword.” Jasper lets out a sigh at Nick's words, pitched high enough that it could be a whine, tongue darting out to wet his lips. Nick steps back, lets Jasper sway half a step towards him, the slackness in his shoulders half want and half relief. Catches him with a hand against his chest. “Let me see you. well i had to put in this entire passage from just so long as this thing's loaded (marvel, unhinged nickjasper). i am just so fucking pleased with the build of the tension and the space of the pause before the Line Of All Time and just. i assigned myself to write Well More Things Should Be Weird And Horny and i think i pulled it off. like six paragraphs up there is pretty much straight up knifeplay in there. in my defense i didnt realize how intense it'd got until i had finished writing it. obviously the crown jewel of this excerpt and also of the whole fic is oh, jas, my sword which is a line that fucking bolt of lightning-ed into my mind exactly when i needed it and put me absolutely flat on my back. (i WILL take the "character being reduced to a deadly weapon by their love interest and liking it" trope to its most literal. Augh.) usually i see those kinds of major lines that i spend a whole scene's worth leading up to coming. I Did Not See This Coming.

i! love! mako mori!!!!! my best girl!!!! they say when you set out on a quest for revenge dig two graves they! underestimate! me!! when i wrote tempered steel (pacific rim/mako mori-centric) i was like oh i Get her. oh her spine is literally a sword. oh the kaiju took everything from her and she will take everything from them and she will not die trying because she is the hurricane. she will open herself up with her own hands (and raleigh's hands because they are her hands and hnnnggg drift compatibility...) and draw out every drop of blood the kaiju have left inside her and. just incredible stuff

sorry about the blood in your mouth (marvel, the first nickjasper i ever published. life comes full circle) is the oldest fic in this set but i still think about this line regularly. just. when you are a spy and your husband is a spy and it turns out he's been a traitor all along and you fell for it hook line and sinker. and you cannot let anyone else kill him because you need it to be you, because you have done the thing you never thought or let yourself do, you have built yourself a life with him and now. now you are just nick, now you are a half of a whole and his name will always be on your mortgage and your house will always be yours, both of yours, and. Man. 2020 me was on something fuckoff crazy (quarantine blues is what).

the whole ending paragraph of say the word and i'm already there (marvel, sneaking into the garage after the divorce to pick up my nickjasper boxes and fleeing with them). i love to subvert tropes and saw that post about instead of i will die for you try i will live because of you, for you and i finally got to do it. i love dying-for-each-other as much as the next girl but also like...let's be serious here for a minute. let's be so real character death in mainstream media is so cheap nowadays. In Real Life It Just Hurts. this is such an i will write you a thousand happy endings moment i think i cried when i wrote it like....man i love jasper sitwell. i love him so fucking much. we've really had quite enough of self-sacrifice and death and all that in my opinion. the knowledge of mcu canon jasper's fate dogs every step of my damn life. it haunts me okay I Need Them To Live.

5. How did you figure out your oc’s identity?
TUCKER - Tucker's has definitely ebbed and flowed with my own identity! He initially had a very different backstory that was explicitly about him being a stealth and closeted gay trans man. the way i played him made it so that it didnt really work for him to be trans but i hate playing cis characters so there was some weird magic and memory shit involved to make it work. but it just didnt make sense with the reworked story. took it as an opportunity to make him more openly trans but he was still an exclusive gay man for a while. and well then xander came around and i realized i was bisexual so now tucker is unlabeled because i just know hes going to keep changing with me. but like i truly dont think his character can wholly by separated from Gay Trans Man because so much of his personality and identity was built around that in the beginning.
XANDER - i made xander for the sole purpose of having fun with him. like seriously i made him for a school assignment because i didnt have a "cunty, whorish enough" character for the assignment and then she just stuck around so like... her identity has always just been "whatever is fun!" in the beginning he was like explicitly transmasc but i was playing around with using she/her pronouns for myself again so i gave them to xander to see if it would help me gain more confidence and it did! as i fleshed her out more tho her backstory started to rly revolve around changing identity and like specifically masculinity vs. femininity and how she performs both, and wuth that came the idea of transitioning back and forth over periods of time. because of THAT i wanted her to be really into drag because thats what drag is all about... and because shes rly into drag i wanted to explore her relationship to the transFEMININE experience because drag really cant be separated from that. so ive rly focused on embodying binary identities as performance for her gender. and because she sleeps around a lot ive just made her super fluid in terms of sexuality. shes not picky!
JORDAN - jordan was a he/they from the jump but i struggled a lot with their design and development for like YEARS but once i finally started fleshing them out i was immediately like "nah this guy prefers they/them and tacks he on for normies" and it genuinely helped me solidify his perception of not only their own identity but also life in general? theyre very "go with the flow because theyre extremely confident in themself and dont care how others perceive them". and then bisexual just seemed Right. idk. he sorta embodies "cool bisexual kid in high school that helps u realize ur also queer" and i just kinda went with the stereotype lol. also he seems like a Megan Fox Enjoyer.
KONAMI - i designed konami at a time where i was rly interested in the intersection of neurodivergence and queerness so his identity was def informed by that! along with queerness in childhood as a theme. ive always associated aesthetics like his with the rise in usage of neopronouns (in a good way!) so it just made sense to have them use it/its. if i wasnt a coward id throw some more fun pronouns on there but konami is also just a little guy so i honestly default to he/him a lot in the same way that you'd refer to like. a dog. and once again bisexual just made sense. i established pretty early on that his parents were super accepting of him being trans (konami was a binary trans guy when he was alive!) so i feel like sexuality just wasnt a huge concern for him.
9. Are there cultural or lore specific aspects to their identity? If applicable, does their species affect it?
OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD THIS IS LITERALLY THE ENTIRE UNDERLYING PREMISE OF WOLFSBANE SO HERE WE GO LOL
TUCKER- ok so the more independent tucker became as a character the more i really leaned into how lycanthropy influences his identity and specifically his queerness. its always been a big part of his story but i rly got to Focus on it once he was mine and mine alone. so in wolfsbane lycanthropy is like. almost directly a metaphor for neurodivergence and like. how do i say this. Being Weird And Feeling Wrong As A Child. which you could argue also makes it a metaphor for transness but like i feel like his lycanthropy makes him trans in other separate ways? like lycanthropy in wolfsbane canonically causes an increase in testosterone production so tucker naturally has facial hair and body hair and a rly deep voice and "male-aligned" body fat distribution. despite being afab. and thats like a big struggle in the story bc his father wants him to Hide that but tucker is very Confident in that, both because he wants to embrace being a werewolf but ALSO because it gives him gender euphoria. and it takes him a LONG time to figure out that those are simultaneously separate things ("im not trans i just look like this!" (you are. you are trans)) and also intrinsically tied (transness as a feeling of Other as opposed to a distinct Gender Identity). AUGH idk if that makes sense. sexuality works pretty similarly. tucker has to repress a lot of himself because his family is scared that his lycanthropy will make him unruly and uncontrollable, and that he will hurt WHOEVER he loves. and in trying to control him they want him to Assimilate (aka Be Heterosexual). so he faces a similar struggle where he spends a long time trying to figure out if hes queer because he Likes Men or if hes queer because he Likes People, BOTH of which have been withheld from him.
XANDER- xander is an energy vampire and relies a lot on the balance between Taking and Giving. this means that he has to hide his true identity and give people a false one in order to get what he needs from them. and when you are performing an identity day in and day out is it really a performance anymore? or is it such a performance that it cant possibly be who you are? so thats like the Central struggle that vampirism invokes onto his identity. sexuality works similarly (can you tell that i have a hard time distancing gender from sexuality?) where he spends so much time forging these fake bonds and hooking up with anyone who will give him the time of day that he really doesnt have the time, energy, or maturity to figure out who he's Truly attracted to. her constant need to perform makes it nearly impossible for her to feel authentic in any way.
JORDAN- im gonna start sounding like a broken record at this point but my understanding of transness and queerness is so far removed from the idea of gender itself that i have no choice but to talk about identity as a whole. SORRY. anyways jordan's identity is heavily influenced by his schizophrenia and his dad. and the way THAT influences him is that he wants to Minimize his body because they do not feel attached to their body at all. and Maximize his ability to Reflect his Father because those experiences were the most important to him. so like. really thinking about it now i feel like a big reason why they even identify as transmasc is a. They Need To Remove Any Unnecessary Part Of Their Body NOW And That Means The Tits Have Got to Go amd b. he can distance himself from who he was as a child and align himself with his FATHER who is like the most important and influential figure in his life. in terms of sexuality they're kind of similar to xander but like the reverse side of the coin? They are so authentically themself that its hard for them to find room in their life for another person. so like while jordan identifies as bisexual i often say they also align themself with aromanticism because romance is just very difficult for him to figure out. a lot of the times it boils down to utility over attraction. which works for some people! (tucker) and not for others (all of his ex's).
KONAMI- konami died and forgot what gender and sexuality were. i explain this more HERE but because of konami's history it doesnt have a reference point for what gender Is. so a lot of his identity boils down to concepts as opposed to things like masculinity and femininity. i really want to do more deep exploration into how tucker, xander, and jordan's queerness influences konami's own identity as well as his perception of gender and identity but i guess for a quick answer he latches onto Connecting Words before he latches onto Individual Labels. so things like "dad" and "aunt" make more sense to him than "man" and "woman" because they have a purpose and a role attached to them. but then again those roles have been defined by queer people who don't perfectly fit into the Status Quo of that role but enact/perform it in unique and nuanced ways. this is also why he more quickly latches onto "son" and "boy" (and specifically how boy fits into a Family structure) than any other gendered labels. again like ive stated before, bisexual came pretty easily because with a lack of gender awareness just came an understanding that gender wasn't a factor in regards to attraction. hence bisexual.
this is so long omfg but what it all boils down to is um. my relationship to queerness is founded on experience, intersectionality, and bodily autonomy, not gender as its own concept. so nonhuman identities (and sometimes just Different Human identities) are always going to influence identity and Be A Metaphor for HOW experience influences identity and vis versa.
