Sword gays showdown, round 2, bracket two
Propaganda:
For Nicky:
Nicolò di Genova (aka Nicky) is an immortal warrior who was raised to become a catholic priest and fight in the Crusades with his two-handed long sword. There, on the opposite side of the crusade invasion, he meets Yusuf al-Kaysani (aka Joe), who is of a religion that Nicky was raised to hate. After killing each other, coming back to life and killing each other countless times, they eventually make peace, learn each other languages, become friends, and fall in love. They now fight alongside each other in the Old Guard as the immortal husbands (paralleling Andromache and Quyuh’s immortal wives duo). They will do anything for each other and their found family. Nicky is deadly efficient with his longsword as well as with any weapon/hand combat. Nicky and Joe once took out a truck full of armoured guards while handcuffed. Nicky is very caring and empathic but tough when he needs to be (is able to fight despite being experimented on for days) and is worthy of the title of best gay swordsperson <3
He’s very neat
For Haruka/Sailor Uranus:
She wields the space sword, one three talismans. She's also in a canon sapphic relationship with fellow sailor soldier sailor neptune and later is raising a child with her and another sailor, sailor pluto. Their daughter calls her papa because she's also a genderqueer icon.

Soulmate Bracket: Round 1 [Side A — Part VI]
Provided reasoning under cut:
Yusuf “Joe” Al Kaysani & Nicolo “Nicky” Di Genova
Icons. I haven’t seen the movie in years but (if you haven’t seen it) they met way way back in the day (like Nicky was a Templar, that’s about as far back in the day) as enemies, but because they’re immortal they couldn’t kill each other and just epic homoerotic sword fight. Your honour they’re gay and in love, and have always been in love and it’s beautiful. They get kidnapped and put into a private get to get taken away, you know what Nicky says? “There’s a TV, Joe!” He’s just excited to be with his husband. Later on, Joe goes on a full rant to their captors about how much he loves Nicky. Like!! They’re immortal gay lovers, put them in the bracket, please <3
Literally begging you to watch The Old Guard if you haven't already it has rewritten my brain chemistry. ANYWAY they guard are a found family of humanity-saving traumatized immortals. Each of them have died countless times on missions throughout the ages. Joe and Nicky in particular were responsible for killing each other, the first time they died. And when it didn't work and they both came back to life on the battlefield, they just KEPT KILLING EACH OTHER AGAIN, and I ask you is there, truly, a funnier start to a ship dynamic than that. In present time they are canonically devoted partners, but not boyfriends! If you. If you've heard the speech, yknow? .....You should hear the speech. Again, rewired brain chemistry. ALSO off topic but it didn't seem to require my email for this submission so the problem you were experiencing there may be resolved? At least for some users. Idk.
Finn the Human & Jake the Dog
in canon they die at the end, jake gives up a perfect afterlife to reincarnate with finn again and again and they always find eachother in every life. they are so important to me.
THEY LITERALLY WERE REINCARNATED SEVERAL HUNDRED YEARS IN THE FUTURE AS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PEOPLE BUT SOMEHOW THEY STILL FOUND EACH OTHER AND ARE STILL BEST FRIENDS EVEN IF THY HAVE FORGOTTEN THEIR PAST LIVES

Saint Nicholas
SAlso known as Nicholas of Myra, Nicolo, Claes, Nicolae etc
Classification: venerated as a saint by most branches of Christianity.
Facts:
He was a bishop of Myra, now known as Demre in modern turkey.

He was buried in his own cathedral
Nicholas developed a reputation as a wonder worker and his shrine was, for centurys, a significant and important Christian pilgrimage site.

Instead, men impersonating him knock on the door in broad daylight accompanied by assistans and attendants. These representatives ask children to account for their behavior and may ask religious questions and make religious speeches.

10 characters, 10 fandoms, 10 tags
Tagged by the marvelous @boutiquetraveltravelboutique to share 10 of my favourite characters from 10 different fandoms and tag 10 people.
This was hard!! I think of fandom as a unique label - OTP is for real and you can only have one lol, although I might dabble in reading other stuff on the side. So I framed this to be anything I've read fic for in the past..... since I started reading fic:
Nicolo Di Genova -- The Old Guard
Kim Kitsuragi -- Disco Elysium
Jaskier -- Witcher Netflix (what a turn from how I felt about before I let his status as fandom fave sway me!! Yen is my fave Witcher Game but I don't really read game fic)
Paolo Guerrisi -- LMCU (i am Reaching for fandoms)
Steve Rogers -- MCU (but Peggy Carter was my tumblr icon for years 💄)
Eddie Kaspbrak -- IT (2017) (idk its a tie with richie)
James T. Kirk -- Star Trek (AOS) (ideally shipped with Old!Spock with jealous new!Spock lmao. good times, should i read fic for this again...)
Allison Argent -- Teen Wolf (i didnt read fic of her, but i did have a brief sterek reading phase but not enough to pick them as a fave. Allison was life and wife goals on the show though)
Blaine Anderson -- Glee
Brendon Urie -- Bandom
Tagging (i tried so hard to get to 10 but that is too many): @kushielsmercy @mostlyimmortal @theresatvjoe @pinkninjapj @raedear @knoepfchen @tobebbanburg @good-nightsocialite

3:00am thoughts that I forgot to post at 3:00am
Dream SMP X Attack On Titan
SPOILERS AHEAD
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now hear me out… Tommy as Eren because short-tempered and catalyst for change. Also always getting into fights. Tubbo as Armin because underrated genius who deserves better. Now this is a bit weird but I wasn’t sure how to fit Mikasa into it right, but Purpled as Mikasa because badass with a sword and also Golden Duo.
Then Ranboo is Jean because Allium Duo being at odds like that would be hilarious, also him being the reluctant but good leader seems accurate. Sasha is Quackity because who else would be caught dead eating a potato in front of the drill sergeant?
Now the painful part. Sapnap as Conny. Yes because I ship Conny and Sasha lowkey, like I love them as best friends and found family twins, but also I can see the possible chemistry between them though Sasha and Nicolo is better in my opinion. But also because I have Dream as Reiner, Bad as Berthodlt, and George as Annie.
Dream as Reiner because I love the hc of a Dreamon possession c!Dream and being the cause of everything, and that goes well with Reiner’s split personality (not split personalities per se but his problems with keep facades straight). Bad as Berthodlt because tall, and I can just see it. Then Annie as George because sleep and also I feel like he’d be the quiet icon who could kick butt, but he’s around and talks to Dream only and sometimes Sapnap. Which makes the betrayal painful.
Then, we have Phil as Erwin, duh. I did toy with Sam being Erwin but eventually settled on Phil because it works better with Techno being Levi, for obvious reasons. Then Wilbur would be Hange and I find that part absolutely hilarious and actually somewhat accurate.
I think Niki would be an amazing Historia but also Eret, she would be a great Historia too. Then Fundy could be like, Moblit, and still be Wilbur’s son which would make that death so much worse. If Niki isn’t Historia I think she could be a great Petra or Eld because bfs with Techno and kickass.
Basically I woke up at 3:00am and was like: “what if Eren and Tommy switched places?” and just had a sort of mental breakdown as I put roles together.
Oncu fastest on Friday as he leads Bulega by 0.005s
Can Oncu set the fastest time in Free Practice 2. He was just 0.005s faster than Ducati’s Nicolo Bulega.
The FIM Supersport World Championship burst back into action on Friday at the iconic and historic TT Circuit Assen for the Pirelli Dutch Round and there was nothing to separate the top two in the timesheets at the end of Friday’s action. Can Oncu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) led the way in both Free Practice 2 and the combined classification, finishing just 0.005s clear of Championship leader Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team).
Oncu posted a best time of 1’37.951s, coming in the closing stages of FP2, on his Kawasaki ZX-6R to finish on top of the timesheets as he finished ahead of five Italian riders. In second was Bulega who posted s 1’37.596s to finish only 0.005s behind Oncu. Bulega had initially gone fastest before Oncu pipped the Championship leader. The pair had a gap of more than half-a-second to third-placed Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) in third place, with the Italian racing for the first time in WorldSSP since he sustained injuries in Australia. Montella’s best time was a 1’38.172s.
Raffaele De Rosa (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) took fourth spot courtesy of his 1’38.225s set in FP2 as he, like all riders, go in search of a strong result at the start of the European part of the season. He finished ahead of Stefano Manzi (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) in fifth place, with Manzi’s day coming to a premature end after he crashed at Turn 10 in Free Practice 2. His best time was a 1’38.316s, set in the opening session of the day, to finish ahead of Federico Caricasulo (Althea Racing Team) in sixth place.
WorldSSP action resumes on Saturday with the Tissot Superpole from 10:25 (Local Time), followed Race 1 at 15:15.
P1 | Can Oncu | Kawasaki Puccetti Racing | 1’37.591
"After one month and two weeks break away from the bike, I tried to adapt again, and we had some problems. In FP2, I did a little race simulation, and I wasn’t feeling so bad. We decided to put another tyre and I pushed for some laps and I did a good lap time. I’m feeling very good and very confident. I am looking forward to tomorrow!”
WorldSSP Combined Results after FP2
1. Can Oncu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) 1’37.591s
2. Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team) +0.005s
3. Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) +0.581s
4. Raffaele De Rosa (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) +0.634s
5. Stefano Manzi (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) +0.725s
IPHIGENIA'S ANCIENT CAUTIONARY MYTH STILL RESONATES
– by David D. Fowler & Aeon 999
MFF marks INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY, and WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH, by exploring an iconic work of art from many centuries ago. EURIPIDES' tragedy, IPHIGENIA IN AULIS, is one of the greatest anti-war statements ever created; and it is also a powerful commentary on the plight of women down through the ages.
EURIPIDES' powerful drama focuses on the dilemma facing KING AGAMEMNON, when the gods order him to sacrifice his own daughter. It can also be seen as a protofeminist work – highlighting perils faced by women and girls, when they are part of a militaristic, male-oriented culture with authoritarian religious leaders. Various traditions of this myth are embodied by the paintings in our image gallery.
This story is at the heart of our special feature: IPHIGENIA, the 1977 epic masterpiece, by ZORBA THE GREEK director MICHAEL CACOYANNIS. It is one of the finest depictions of a Greek tragedy, which takes a few imaginative artistic liberties with the conventions of that art form. Chief among its virtues are the powerhouse performances of IRENE PAPAS, as Queen Clytemnestra; and TATIANA PAPAMOSKOU as her daughter Iphigenia.
The videos embedded above include an extended trailer from this film – along with a graphic novel portrayal of the death of Iphigenia; and an experimental theatre adaptation of Agamemnon's ritual murder of his daughter. As an alternative metaphor, we have also included accounts of the biblical legend of Abraham being called to sacrifice his son Isaac. One is a poignant song by LEONARD COHEN; and the other a powerful depiction of WWI poet WILFRED OWEN's apocalyptic take on the same story.
An old Chinese proverb calls women "THE OTHER HALF OF THE SKY". In keeping with our desire to honor the respect being shown to women worldwide on this particular day, one of our playlists offers eloquent articles debunking stereotypes about FEMINISM. We also include items dealing with the history and meaning of these holidays, embodying more progressive attitudes toward women.
We present various retellings of Iphigenia's story, and related myths, in movies, plays, audiobooks, and operas. This includes works by composers such as CHRISTOPH WILLIBALD GLUCK, BENJAMIN BRITTEN, WAYNE SHORTER, SERGEY TANEYEV, NICOLE V. GAGNÉ, and DAVID AVIDOR. We also offer different versions of Euripides' companion piece, IPHIGENIA IN TAURIS – which tells an alternative tale, wherein the heroine is supernaturally rescued from her father's sacrifice by the goddess Artemis.
We feature works created by acclaimed directors such as PETER HALL and ANDREI KONCHALOVSKY, as well as another outstanding Cacoyannis film, THE TROJAN WOMEN. Performers include MARIA CALLAS, KATHARINE HEPBURN, VANESSA REDGRAVE, GENEVIEVE BUJOLD, ISABELLA ROSSELLINI, ARMAND ASSANTE, GRETA SCACCHI, BERNADETTE PETERS, ERIC ROBERTS, GERALDINE CHAPLIN, CHRISTOPHER LEE and ESPERANZA SPALDING.
It should be noted that some of these videos are by talented amateurs; thus, there are occasional technical issues, and a few have overly lengthy introductions. Nevertheless, they are well worth watching, if you overlook these very minor flaws. Most of the foreign language productions have English subtitles, sometimes accessed via the CC feature on YouTube videos.
We end with a section of works dealing with the fates of characters from Euripides' plays – and depictions of the Trojan War and its aftermath, by notables such as AESCHYLUS and HOMER. But first, we present further interpretations of the story of Isaac from the Book Of Genesis, one of human history's most enduring tales of child sacrifice. This is followed by the extraordinary Cacoyannis film; its availability, in a good quality copy, is what inspired us to do this post for Women's Month.
Was helping my dad work on a van (mom wanted a camper but he figured it was less expensive to build a bed and some shelves into the back of his Ram), he’s cutting plywood and I’m trying to bolt in a support beam, I look away for about five seconds and just hear a thud and a yell of “Hospital.”
(Nicolo de Genova, 2000, cause of death: camping budget constraints)
Joe&Nicky’s 900th anniversary and Nicky’s [redacted] are both cut tragically short
