The Old Guard Timeline

Rounding, my guess at the timeline for our immortals would look something like below. I added the ‘estimated’ notation when specific dates weren’t referenced in the comics or movie. When ages of the immortals at first death isn’t referenced, I default to 30 years old.:

4710 BCE Andy is born. In the comics, Andy states she is 6732, so give or take some years there for publishing and calendar changes.

4680 BCE Andy becomes immortal (estimated)

1362 BCE Quynh is born (estimated)

1332 BCE Quynh becomes immortal and Andy starts dreaming of her. (estimated) In the comics, Andy states she dreamed of Quynh 1,000 years before meeting Lykon in 332 BCE

1332-332 BCE In the movies: It is insinuated Andy and Quynh are the first to meet. Specific dates aren’t referenced and I’m not as much of a clothing expert to try and guess.

362 BCE Lykon is born (estimated)

332 BCE Lykon becomes immortal and meets Andy at Alexander the Great’s siege of Judea/Gaza

641 CE In the comics: Andy and Quynh meet at Amir bin al-As’s siege of the Byzantine Empire at Alexandria . Lykon isn’t there and they all meet up soon after, though for them soon could be years.

1066 CE Joe is born

1069 CE Nicky is born

1099 CE Joe & Nicky become immortal during the First Crusade

1332-1574 CE Lykon dies. In the comic it states Andy and Lykon traveled together for 2000 years and he died in the renaissance era. In the movie: Joe & Nicky aren’t in the scene where Lykon dies but they talk like they knew him. Given the date of his death, they would have at least dreamed of him.

1575-1650 CE In the Movies: They don’t state exactly when Quynh is lost at sea but widespread witch trials in England occurred between the the late 16th century to the mid 17th century. There are earlier trials in the Middle Ages, though not as common or well documented, and more often for political reasons. The last execution for witchcraft in England was in 1716. In the comics: Quynh is lost at sea, though not in an iron maiden for witchcraft. They are sailing and there is a storm. Joe & Nicky are there but Booker isn’t and a date isn’t specifically mentioned.

1770 CE Booker is born

1812 CE Booker becomes immortal during Napoleon’s invasion of Russia

1994 CE Nile is born

2019 CE Nile becomes immortal (estimated) and meets the gang

*BCE= Before the Common Era, equivalent to BC (Before Christ)

*CE= Common Era, equivalent to AD (Anno Domini meaning ‘the year of our Lord’, colloquially referred to as After Death)

Drew a page of some of my ventrue gray suits- an archetype of the clan who popped up in the new world as a uniquely modern form of the ventrue. Characterized- in a twist of irony- by their far more colorful attire in comparison to their old guard peers.

They tend to work in finance, managing the wealth of their far older counterparts in the clan- among other… more ‘hands on’ work.

If Sasha lived, would Niccolo have stayed with the Blouse family during The Rumbling or would he have gone to the front lines?

Technically, he is a captured Marleyan soldier from the navy and should have some experience with war and battle.

Granted, the amount of support he would have provided is to be a sniper like how Gabi was. But any military experience support the alliance could get would be grateful and enough.

Plus he could have helped talk down the Marleyans soldiers since he himself is a Marleyan.

To me, I think he would have gone for Sasha if she lived.

The Old Guard Timeline (Detailed)

Since there are some folks who appreciate the summary timeline, I thought to present the extended version. Brought to you by me spending a weekend hyper fixating. I endeavored to provide geographical locations when possible:

Rounding, my guess at the timeline for our immortals would look something like below. I added the ‘estimated’ notation when specific dates weren’t referenced in the comics or movie. When the ages of the immortals at first death isn’t referenced, I default to 30 years old. I also focused more on pre-Nile becoming immortal.:

4710 BCE Andy was born. In the comics, Andy states she is 6732, so give or take some years there for publishing and calendar changes. It is stated she is from Eurasia, and assumed to be from somewhere around the area that would later become part of the Scythian Empire (today that falls mostly along parts of Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan). The historical records of the Scythian Empire start around the 8th century BCE, though the people originally making up that empire were older, genealogically dating back to the Bronze age.

4695 BCE Andy’s first battle. In the comics she states she is 14 or 15.

4680 BCE Andy becomes immortal (estimated) Andy becomes a leader of her tribe,

1755-1750 BCE Andy resided in Babylon (modern day Iran) during or after this time, around when the Code of Hammurabi was made into law.

1362 BCE Quynh/Noriko was born (estimated). In the comics: She is from Japan. In the movies: She is Vietnamese like the actor who plays her.

1331 BCE Quynh becomes immortal and Andy starts dreaming of her. (estimated) In the comics: Andy states she dreamed of Quynh 1,000 years before meeting Lykon in 332 BCE. This could be around the time the Giáp line took over as the ruling family in Vietnam.

1332-332 BCE In the movies: It is insinuated Andy and Quynh are the first to meet. Specific dates aren’t referenced and I’m not as much of a clothing expert to try and guess. They look to have met in a desert. Could be the Sahara, Arabian, Gobi, Syrian, Karakum, Kyzylkum, Taklamakan, Thar, etc. If they met in a similar place to the comics, it would probably be either the Arabian or Sahara near Alexandria, Egypt.

362 BCE Lykon is born (estimated) Given the vastness of Alexander the Great’s kingdom, he could be from a lot of places. The name is generally considered to be of Greek origin. I would guess within a reasonable distance from the Mediterranean, especially if he initially participated in Alexander the Great’s siege at Gaza as a mortal, from either side of the conflict. In the comics: He is paler with lighter hair. In the movies: He is darker with dark hair. The actor is from Jamaica but it doesn’t seem as likely that would change the character’s origin too much (like with Quynh/Noriko), given the history of Jamaica. There were folks there back then, but not much is known about them.

332 BCE Lykon becomes immortal and meets Andy at Alexander the Great’s siege of Judea/Gaza.

641 CE In the comics: Andy and Quynh meet at Amir bin al-As’s siege of the Byzantine Empire at Alexandria, Egypt. Lykon isn’t there and they all meet up soon after, though for them soon could be years.

1066 CE Joe was born. His character is from the Maghreb, North Africa, though a specific location isn’t mentioned. As the actor who portrays him is Dutch, born to a Tunisian family, we could say Tunisia might be a fair estimate if they updated the character’s origin for the actor’s like they did with Quynh/Noriko.

1069 CE Nicky was born in Genoa, Italy

1099 CE Joe & Nicky became immortal during the First Crusade, likely during the Siege of Jerusalem, though there were other sieges in that year alone.

1150-1159 CE (Though could be as much as 1144-1162 CE) Andy, Quynh, and Lykon, Possibly Joe and Nicky, participate in the Baussenque Wars in the Provence region of France.

1228-1229 CE The Old Guard participate in the 6th Crusade.

1333-1575 CE Noriko fought in feudal Japan against/alongside Shogun Samurai. There are clues that she killed a prolific samurai and poet, though it doesn’t state which in the comics.

1519-1650 CE In the movies: They don’t state exactly when Quynh is lost at sea but widespread witch trials in England occurred between the late 16th century to the mid 17th century. There are earlier trials in the Middle Ages, though not as common or well documented, and more often for political reasons. The last execution for witchcraft in England was in 1716. Joe mentioned 500 years in the ocean, could be rounding up. In the comics: Noriko is lost at sea, though not in an iron maiden for witchcraft. They are sailing (possibly as pirates) and there is a storm. Joe & Nicky are there but Booker isn’t and a date isn’t specifically mentioned.

1519-1740 CE Andy and possibly Joe and Nicky, search for Quynh. It’s mentioned in the movie she spent decades looking for Quynh, so the assumption is up to 90 years or so. Given the broad time period that Quynh was lost in without a specific date, there is also a wide range of dates the searching could fall in.

1606 CE Joe and Nicky help an artist flee Genoa (best guess on the artist is Caravaggio due to his known history.)

1648 or 1691 CE Joe and Nicky prevent a gay soldier from death by firing squad in what is now Montreal, Canada. There is a documented case in 1648 of a military drummer put on trial for a relationship with a man but he escapes execution after interference from Jesuits. In 1691, 3 men were sentenced and found guilty for being queer, they all managed to avoid death sentences. (estimated)

1700 CE Joe and Nicky help the female owner of a queer coffee shop in London (estimated)

1770 CE Booker is born in Marseilles, France.

1783 CE Achilles leaves the US a freed man, following the British retreat after the end of the American Revolutionary War

1785 CE Achilles arrives in Australia and meets Andy (he is in his late 20’s) (estimated)

1789-1799 CE Still mortal, Booker at least somewhat participates in the French Revolution, including the Reign of Terror.

1807-1831 CE Andy leaves Achilles and Australia, it is hinted that she headed to ‘fighting in Jamaica’. Given the British ‘abolition’ of the slave trade in 1807 and the following many years of slow dismantling of the institution. I would expect it to fall closer to the Baptist War that started at the end of 1831 and was largely initiated and fought by black people and slaves against British occupiers.

1812 CE Mortal Booker was conscripted from prison, where he served time as a forger, to fight in Napoleon’s invasion of Russia. Booker is hung for desertion and becomes immortal in Russia.

1812-1837 CE Booker meets Andy, Joe, and Nicky. It isn’t clear when or where but in 1837 when Booker was with his son, he mentioned Andy and advice she gave him.

1833 CE Andy returns to Australia and conducts her revenge for Achilles’ death

1834 CE Andy, Joe, Nicky, and possibly Booker are in Sao Paulo

1837 CE Booker is living in Paris, France, and dines at Les Trois Frères Provençaux restaurant with his son Philippe on good terms, though there is an altercation with a stranger.

1838-1850 CE Booker’s family dies in France, the last is Jean-Pierre of cancer. In the movies: Jean-Perre was 42 when he died.

1861-1865 CE Andy, Joe, Nicky, and Booker participated in the American Civil War. Nicky spends a significant amount of time as a spy/trap, disguised as a confederate soldier he solo ambushed Southern troops, freeing black slaves/prisoners when possible, and gathering or stealing information. Nicky relayed the information to Joe in the north, and they both assisted in the underground railroad operation to free slaves and POC from prosecution in the south and use it as a way to transport military information.

1870 CE Booker travels west to San Francisco, CA, US, to join Andy. He stops in Gothic, CO, US and kills a violent renegade family. He saves a doctor and professor named Milford Merrick

1871 CE Joe and Nicky fight over something relating to the Paris Commune, a failed revolution by a working class force called the Communards. (In the comics it sounds like Nicky was pro Communards and Joe was pro peace).

1864-1898 CE Andy meets Rodin (possibly biblically)

1887 CE Joe and Nicky stop an attack outside the Zanzibar lounge in Cannes, France, saving Lulu.

1904 CE The Old Guard participate in the Haitian Revolution.

1915-1916 CE Andy, Joe, Nicky, and Booker participate in the Gallipoli campaign.

1916 CE Andy and likely Joe, Nicky, and Booker, participate in the Montenegro campaign.

1917 CE Andy saves Zues, a child around 8 or so, from the battle of Passchendaele in Belgium.

1918 CE Andy saves a girl during WWI who would later become a pilot.

1932 CE Joe and Nicky are in Berlin, Germany and help a queer club owner, Lulu, from a violent Nazi. (They previously saved Lulu in 1887)

1936 CE Nicky, and possibly Andy, Joe, and Booker, participate in the Spanish Civil War

1944 CE Joe, and possibly Andy, Nicky, and Booker, participate in the French Revolution against occupying Nazi forces

1945 CE Joe, Nicky, and probably Andy and Booker help free German concentration camp prisoners

1950-1953 CE Possible participation in the Korean War by Andy, Joe, Nicky, and Booker

1953 CE At least Joe and Nicky, and likely Andy and Booker, participated in the Crimean War, mostly in the Balkans.

1956-1959 CE Andy, Joe, Booker, and Nicky participated in the Hungarian Revolution. At one point they are in Budapest, Hungary, and they save an infant.

1959-1968 CE Andy attends a crowded Martin Luther King Jr speech in the US. At least Nicky attends a civil rights march. Both US.

1968 CE At least Joe and Nicky, and likely Andy and Booker, participate in the Vietnam War

1969 CE July 20 - Booker and Nicky hunt down the killer and those involved in the serial murders of 24 young queer people in Minnesota, US (looks like it’s meant to look similar to Jeffery Dahmar). Joe and Nicky are fighting about this revenge approach. Joe and Andy watch the moon landing in San Francisco, CA, US.

1975 CE At least Andy participated in Operation Babylift between Vietnam to western nations (US, Australia, France, Germany, Canada)

1977 CE Andy meets up with Zues in Cleveland, OH, US. It is insinuated that after she saved him in 1917, that she looked after him for a while. He even calls her ‘mamma’. He knows about the others and seems to have met them, he also knows of her immortality and what they do. Yitzhak/Isaac is mentioned

1978 CE Booker is in NYC, NY, US and somewhat unintentionally joins a cult of violent nuns. (No joke.)

1978 CE (several months later) Andy retrieves Booker from the violent nun cult in Guyana, in South America. (Still no joke but it is funny.)

1989 CE Andy is present around the fall of the Berlin Wall

1992 CE Nicky has a college ID, unclear if student or teacher

1994 CE Nile was born in Chicago, IL, US.

2007-2018 CE sometime here an immortal going by Isaac spends at least a year or so alone in either Canada or Alaska, North America, in the mountains.

2019 CE Nile becomes immortal (estimated) and meets the gang

*Bonus* Sometime after Booker’s exile and before the return of Quynh: Nile and Andy check on Booker. They do not speak with him, only watch from afar. They retrieve an old doll via museum heist, which belonged to Booker's son Jean-Pierre, and send it to him as a birthday present.
