Yes indeed I do, but the common denominator of all of this is the PJO dimension, as this is the dimension I have resided in for quite a while and have the utmost experience in traveling, and I started the first HEWWO??? thing in the NdA realm/the Nico di Angelo side of the PJO dimension, of which I live in

lewis doesnt get enough credit i think on how he was able to make so many people forget about a wdc (an insanely talented one at that) bc every time i talk to newer f1 fans they might not know everyone but they can name one or two past champions (like mark webber or micheal schumacher etcetc) but never nico

Hi Anon! First of all I have to say that Mark Webber is not a wdc (but a girl can dream). But I agree that Lewis has defined (continues to define?) such a long "era" of F1, that we're forgetting about the one-off champions. I'm not super well informed on F1 before y2k but it seems like one-time championships were more frequent in the past, and even when drivers won multiple championships, it wasn't often in a row. The past two decades have been made of chunks of multiple wdcs! First Michael, then Fernando, then Seb, then Lewis and now Max. I definitely don't see a ton of discussion about Nico beyond his battle with Lewis 2014-2016 (okay I do see quite a bit because I am deeply plugged into Nicoblr) or of Jenson or even Kimi.

I'm not sure Lewis is entirely to blame for this phenomenon, but he is definitely part of it! We also have to remember that he is more or less an A-lister and therefore very visible in the media landscape of F1 fandom. Also not to rag on transformative fandom, but who are the "new fans" that you're talking about? Sometimes fandom runs away with itself and abandons the "source material". Some of the interactions I've had online (tiktoks sent to me by my friend) and irl (friends who are suddenly into f1) make me think that some fans' primary contact with F1 is through fandom commentary (usually on social media) and NOT from actually watching races/press. And YES I'm guilty of this too (have not watched many of the famous silver war races I frequently write about).

In any case, what I'm trying to get at here is that we here on Tumblr might have a certain picture of the Grand Narratives of F1 fandom, but we should think about why we have that perspective and how other kinds of fandom in different places and spaces have different perspectives.

Do you traipse through Nicoblr? If so are there parallels in how a bunch of people treat Nico and the other characters with ml salt fics? It seems there might be a connection just from what I’ve seen you post

Um... what? Do you mean like, trawl through the Nico Di Angelo tag on tumblr, or look through Nico-centric fics? Because no, generally not. Like, I'll reblog some posts about him, or read some fics with him in it, but I don't concentrate on him in particular.

In any case, I haven't noticed much of a connection there. Like, I haven't really seen or heard of a huge swarm of Nico writers making all his friends betray him so he can plot his revenge and kick their asses while becoming this ultra-powerful figure who his new, better friends bow down to and almost seem to worship. Mostly people just write Nico and Will being cute together, maybe having someone give Nico comfort to help with all the trauma he's been through.

feeling ROBBED by rick rn of the brotherly relationship we could have had between percy and nico, if Percy hadn’t of treated nico the way he did in hoo 😭 (yk, i understand him because was in his second prophecy arc, lost his memory and life for 6months etc ect. still doesn’t sit right with me considering percy’s caring character). VIRIA ART AGAIN are we surprised

anyway seeing this art has made me realise how much i wanted a younger-older brother relationship between nico and percy. i want to see nico learn that finally admitting his feelings for percy, to percy, lifted such a weight off his chest- that it wasnt as bad as he had built up in his head. i want to see nico slowly learning to re-appreciate percy’s presence, like he used to before bianca died (even if he wont have his 10yo energy for a while) after confronting percy in hoo. for nico to finally open up and begin to talk to percy about his draining emotional journey for the past 4/5 years, how his internal processing of his emotions was so unhealthy for him and that he so desperately needed help from a loved one, and for percy to realise and admit where he could have done better for nico, and to apologise. overall i just want them to slowly find closure from each other, learning to love (platonic) each other again (does that even make sense i am just #rambling rn), because after so many years of grief and pain thats what they deserve!!!
