Well, he was definitely trying to keep his cool, but he was terrified. Specifically, the fact that he can’t tell where she is really messes with him. Both twins are very particular about at least subconsciously knowing where the other is at all times, so not knowing where she is puts Apollo in a bit of a spiral. After all, the scariest thing of all is the unknown, and I’d bet that’s doubly true for a god who’s supposed to know everything.

And while the lengths he went to get Percy and co. to Artemis might seem small on the surface, we can now see how much of a risk it was to go behind his father’s back to try and help her. Basically, in a classic Apollo move, he swaggers in and puts on his sunglasses so nobody can see how absolutely terrified he is.
