Kimetsu no Yaiba/Demon Slayer Final Chapter/205 thoughts

I thought it was fine. Yeah, the story proper ended in 204, but sometimes a cheesy happy ending omake like chapter is not the WORST thing in the world. It shows that the world is a different place and gives us sort of AU versions of the characters with their implied reincarnations/descendants.

Do I like that they had NezukoxZenitsu be a thing? Not really. She could have done better than Zen. J/K I like Zen but that wasn’t a pairing I thought worked.

The implied Tanjiro/Kanao and Inosuke/Aoi made more sense to me. They had actual cute chemistry and actual proper interactions with one another before the ending of the manga whereas Nezuko and Zenitsu just didn’t. It was one-sided Zen treating her like a prize/possession and Nezuko being unaware of anything as a demon. It seemed a bit too....contrived. Matchy-matchy.

The others, it was interesting to see and in many cases heartwarming to see what were essentially those characters but given happier lives.

Especially reincarnated Kenroji and Obanai being married and happy together and the chibi trio of Giyuu, Sabito, and Makomo.

So, people can be mad, but I think it was an ok epilogue. 205 is a sort of form of closure.

For me, the closure really mattered for whatever became of the last demons ever- Yushiro and Chachamaru- and I’m happy to see them alive in the modern era and Tamayo’s memory will live on forever (and Muzan is all but forgotten like he deserves and hahaha blue spider-lily was found way after he wanted it hahaha).

I’m also amused that the Ubayashiki family curse was not only lifted but seems to have gone the other way with one of the Ubayashiki kids alive as the oldest person in the world versus their former fates to die young.

After the intense emotional rollercoaster that was Kimestu no Yaiba’s main plot, a nice happy chapter like 205 was a catharsis needed for many.
