Hermann wears a big puffy parka for two (2) reasons.

1) He’s really not great at retaining his own body heat, and the Shatterdome is cold and drafty (It doesn’t help that Newton’s Kaiju specimen require cold temperature storage and the seals on the containers leak around the aging seals.

2) He likes to look more physically intimidating, big in a way his height doesn’t convey—broad shoulders type. It’s hard being the scrawny scientist with a limp and a cane in the same facility as the absolute jock/military Jaeger pilots.

…And it’s absolutely not because Newton likes the parka too. That’s purely coincidental.

That first meeting went wrong because newt tried to interact with hermann like a dog but hermann tried to interact with newt like a cat. Imagine like how dogs try to play with cats and end up scaring them instead. Complete chaos

PacRim’s 10-year anniversary was SO CLOSE to happening during Pride Month but alas

as much as i love newt being protective over hermann and fighting back to whoever is ableist towards him, and then hermann just scolding newt and being resigned and defeated but newt still stands his ground. i want some hermann protecting newt. idc if its some ableist shit abt whatever mental illness you headcanon newt to have, or newt saying the wrong thing to the wrong person, i want hermann physically fighting back, all of his logic and calculation and his usual assessment of the situation, his ‘think before you act’ mindset is completely out of the equation

is there like a newtmann discord or like a hermann gottlieb discord / newtonn geiszler one or something 😭😭

I just keep thinking about how much I want Newton to have acquired a masseuse license sometime during his biology PhD— making a weak justification of ‘hands on information muscle interaction’, perhaps cracking jokes about it being good for meeting ~the ladies~.

When really, his longtime pen-pal Dr. Hermann Gottlieb just recently disclosed to him that he has terrible leg cramps in his right leg, and absolutely abhors asking physicians for help with it because it involves people he barely knows ~touching him~.

So it can’t hurt to pick up another skill…just in case.
