Two of the disciples of Jesus were on their way to a village called Emmaus, seven miles from Jerusalem, and they were talking together about all that had happened. Now as they talked this over, Jesus himself came up and walked by their side; but something prevented them from recognising him. He said to them, ‘What matters are you discussing as you walk along?’ They stopped short, their faces downcast.

Then one of them, called Cleopas, answered him, ‘You must be the only person staying in Jerusalem who does not know the things that have been happening there these last few days.’ ‘What things?’ he asked. ‘All about Jesus of Nazareth’ they answered ‘who proved he was a great prophet by the things he said and did in the sight of God and of the whole people; and how our chief priests and our leaders handed him over to be sentenced to death, and had him crucified. Our own hope had been that he would be the one to set Israel free. And this is not all: two whole days have gone by since it all happened; and some women from our group have astounded us: they went to the tomb in the early morning, and when they did not find the body, they came back to tell us they had seen a vision of angels who declared he was alive. Some of our friends went to the tomb and found everything exactly as the women had reported, but of him they saw nothing.’

Then he said to them, ‘You foolish men! So slow to believe the full message of the prophets! Was it not ordained that the Christ should suffer and so enter into his glory?’ Then, starting with Moses and going through all the prophets, he explained to them the passages throughout the scriptures that were about himself.

When they drew near to the village to which they were going, he made as if to go on; but they pressed him to stay with them. ‘It is nearly evening’ they said ‘and the day is almost over.’ So he went in to stay with them. Now while he was with them at table, he took the bread and said the blessing; then he broke it and handed it to them. And their eyes were opened and they recognised him; but he had vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, ‘Did not our hearts burn within us as he talked to us on the road and explained the scriptures to us?’

They set out that instant and returned to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven assembled together with their companions, who said to them, ‘Yes, it is true. The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.’ Then they told their story of what had happened on the road and how they had recognised him at the breaking of bread.

Characteristics Of A New Creation In Christ

We must pass through the second birth and become a new creation in Christ by being born again, before we can have a relationship with God. It's important to understand the characteristics of a new creation in Christ as we become born of God. It's not everyone that goes to church has a relationship with God. As christians, we need to develope relationship with God. God only works with those who relates with him. Going to church doesn't create a relationship with God.

What Is The New Creation In Christ

We have to consciously repent of our sins, ask God for forgiveness, accept Jesus into our heart as our Lord and savior to become a new creation in Christ. Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Characteristics of a new creation in Christ 2 Corinthians 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. The new creation in Christ is a man that has passed through the new birth by being born of God. It's a spiritual exercise. Once you are born of God, you are a new creation in Christ Man lost his dominion and authority after the fall of Adam. The new creation is the return of dominion and authority back to man.

Characteristics Of A New Creation In Christ

1. Love

Love is a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties. A willingness to prioritize another's well-being or happiness above your own. Extreme feelings of attachment, affection, and need. Love is the first characteristics of a new creation in Christ. God is love, and once you are in Christ, the first attribute of God that you will inherit is love. If you are to live like God as a believer, then you must love like God. The foundation upon which you can access, power, grace, favor, riches of God is love. If you don't love, then you don't know God. God loves even his enemies and the bible instructs us to do same. One of the steps to attain perfection as a believer is to develop the character of love. Love is perfect according to the bible. If only we can love like God, every other thing will fall into place. Once love is absent, God is absent. Lack of love will cripple your fruitfulness, progress, it will allow the enemy to overcome you. We are expected to love anything human. We need to understand those that are our enemies. According to the bible, we don't fight against flesh and blood. The only enemy we have is Satan and his demons. Understand that Satan will never come out to fight you in person, you will never see him. Satan uses not just a fellow human being to fight you, but anything. He can use the pen in your hand, your car, your machine, anything. Understand that a fellow human is Satan's most effective weapon to distabilize you. If you are fighting with an enemy, you don't try to kill his gun. If you kill his gun, he will get another gun and the fight continues. The gun he is using is not your enemy. If you destroy the enemy and leave the gun, the battle has ended.

2. Joy

Joy is the feeling of great pleasure and happiness. synonyms: delight, great pleasure, joyfulness, jubilation, triumph, exultation, rejoicing, happiness, gladness, glee, exhilaration, ebullience, exuberance, elation, euphoria, bliss, ecstasy, transports of delight, rapture, radiance, enjoyment,

Characteristics of a new creation in Christ Joy is the second characteristics of a new creation. Biblically, the joy of the lord is our strength. Joy is a character of God. As a new creation, you experience the goodness of God on a daily basis and joy is an expression and appreciation to God because of his goodness. According to the bible, "in the presence of God there's fullness of joy. There is joy in heaven twenty four hours of the day. Joy is a character of God and one of the characteristics of a new creation in Christ. Once God lives in you, joy will always be in your heart. Joy is one of the things that attract the presence of God.

3. Peace

Peace is freedom from disturbance, tranquility. synonyms: tranquillity, calm, calmness, restfulness, peace and quiet, peacefulness, quiet, quietness, quietude, silence, soundlessness, hush, noiselessness, stillness, still, privacy, privateness, seclusion Once you are born of God, the peace of God will be shed abroad in your heart, you will automatically experience a supernatural peace of mind. This is because God now lives in you, fear is completely gone because of the presence of God in.

Characteristics of a new creation in Christ Your body now becomes the temple of God. Even in the midst of storm, Jesus was still sleeping because he had confident that the boat cannot sink. God cannot live in you and anything, situation, circumstances of life can pull you down. Peace is a typical one of the characteristics the cha ftracteristics of a new creation in Christ.

4. Kindness

As children of God, we have to live like God. We must show kindness to one another. God is not kind when it's convenient, therefore we must not wait till when we have hundreds before we can give five. Kindness is another one of the characteristics of a new creation in Christ. God is kind. Kindness is a character of God. Every new creation in Christ must also because God lives in them. Wherever God is, his attributes must express itself there.

5. Gentle

God is gentle, if God lives in you and you are a new creation in Christ, you must be gentle too. As one born of God, you carry the genetic traits of the almighty God. Those traits, the genes must express themselves as one of the characteristics of a new creation in Christ.

6. Obedient

Obedient is another one of the important characteristics of a new creation in Christ. As children of God, we must be obedient to God and his word. The bible outrightly condems disobedience. The disobedient will live in dry ground according to the bible, and that's a curse. We can't afford to live in disobedience, both to parents, authorities and to God. Just as one can be cursed for living in disobedience, there are blessings for living in obedience.

Characteristics of a new creation in Christ

7. Patient

Many christians seems to fail when it comes to patient, but God himself is patient with us. Even when we keep living in disobedience by failing to repent and accept the salvation work of Christ, God will be patiently waiting till we return, not willing that anyone should perish. Therefore patient is one of the characteristics of a new creation in Christ. If God himself is patient, we must also learn to be patient. Ability to control emotions is character we must develope if we are to be patient. Control of emotion is a sign of maturity.

8. Goodness

Goodness is another quality of God and one of the characteristics of a new creation in Christ. God is good, as God's children, we must learn to be good too. If God is your father, you can't be bad because only Satan is bad. Only Satan doesn't wish good things to people, but God is good even to the wicked who are his enermies, peradventure they will repent. We have to do good even to our enermies, as children of God.

Jesus showed himself again to the disciples. It was by the Sea of Tiberias, and it happened like this: Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee and two more of his disciples were together. Simon Peter said, ‘I’m going fishing.’ They replied, ‘We’ll come with you.’ They went out and got into the boat but caught nothing that night.

It was light by now and there stood Jesus on the shore, though the disciples did not realise that it was Jesus. Jesus called out, ‘Have you caught anything, friends?’ And when they answered, ‘No’, he said, ‘Throw the net out to starboard and you’ll find something.’ So they dropped the net, and there were so many fish that they could not haul it in. The disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, ‘It is the Lord.’ At these words ‘It is the Lord’, Simon Peter, who had practically nothing on, wrapped his cloak round him and jumped into the water. The other disciples came on in the boat, towing the net and the fish; they were only about a hundred yards from land.

As soon as they came ashore they saw that there was some bread there, and a charcoal fire with fish cooking on it. Jesus said, ‘Bring some of the fish you have just caught.’ Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net to the shore, full of big fish, one hundred and fifty-three of them; and in spite of there being so many the net was not broken. Jesus said to them, ‘Come and have breakfast.’ None of the disciples was bold enough to ask, ‘Who are you?’; they knew quite well it was the Lord. Jesus then stepped forward, took the bread and gave it to them, and the same with the fish. This was the third time that Jesus showed himself to the disciples after rising from the dead.
