Thoughts of Newsies UK final performance
-The lights going down, coming up to reveal the newsies on the balconies and everyone going ape shit
-Race kicking the paper instead of seeing it. Josh is honestly the best race. *chefs kiss*
-Hey Henry, one final time, get down here.
-More cheers
- Carrying the banner ended with a standing ovation.
-basically every other song ended with a standing ovation
-Oh! Crutchie used the slingshot in Carrying the Banner, missed totally, shook his hand, looked at our side of the audience and mouthed "caught my thumb" pouting slightly XD
-people were sobbing everywhere, the audience AND the newsies themselves!
-Pulitzer doing little squats whenever being particularly evil. It worked don't get me wrong, but it just made me smile. Little evil goblin (affectionate)
-Nuncio always looking appalled at Pulitzer's plan
-Matt Duckett's choice to kiss the cross on Jack's line "Sunday when you lie around all day" and how he looks downhearted when Jack says about leaving but perks up when he says he "got no folks nowhere" I could just spend the entire show watching his expressions. Boy that guy can act.
-That's Rich had Medda in tears and struggling to keep it together
-"who wants Brooklyn" and several news just vanishing behind their bags.
- Michael just loosing it completely in Santa Fae reprise, tears pouring down his cheeks. But he hit that high note perfectly.
-In Seize the Day and everyone paused for the photo everyone was sobbing. The newsies were clinging to each other trying to stay in character despite being in tears. And of course, massive round of applause there.
-And when they all say there name, each name got a round of applause, but after Race, the applause was just continuous
-Letters From the Refuge Crutchie's line of "so far they ain't bring us no food" someone in the audience let out a really loud "HA!" which let to laughs, cheers and a round of applause while Matt had to sit there trying not to laugh himself. Everything quiets down and he just goes. "Ha. Ha." with a knowing smirk.
-In Something to Believe In, both Bronte and Michael were crying, nearly loosing it on some notes but clinging to each other the entire time keeping each other going.
-Those Brooklyn Girlsies were killing it.
-"For the final time will someone shut those Newsies up!!"
-When the strike is settled, Michael is delivering his lines to the ground as tears drip to the floor.
You could just tell all night that these guys loved this show, everyone looked deeply moved yet still kept in character despite their emotions.
Incredible.

Both versions of once and for all from newsies
Like just everything about all of them
“Write it in ink or in blood it’s the same either way.”
“This is for kids shining shoes on the street with no shoes on their feet every day.”
“This is for guys sweating blood in the shops, while the bosses and cops look away”
“Once and for all we’ll be there to defend one another, once and for all every kid is our friend every friend a brother.”
“Better to die than to crawl.”

I think we, as a fandom, has collective ignore the potential of a darker approach of Racer.
Let him be the jaded second-in-command he is, give him a matchbox I want to see him burn the place down

You posted about how Newsies is a favorite show of yours so I thought you might like to know that David Moscow who played David in the original film is pro Palestine and has been posting on Instagram about it a lot! He apparently had a producer or some other TV related thing (Idk what all the titles mean and I forget what specifically) stop working with him because of it and he was basically like "sucks to suck also the US military is stupid and I won't say it's not."
In conclusion while I normally dislike when people get all weird about actors and characters as though they're the same(Luke Skywalker would never say things that that loser Mark says), in this case it IS possible to say that David from Newsies supports Palestine because that IS David and he WAS in Newsies. Free Palestine!
DAVID MOSCOW FREE PALESTINE MOMENT??? EVERYBODY CHEER!!!! i love david moscow!!! and did you know david jacobs, his character, is supposedly jewish as well?? i think that's awesome :) imma go follow him on insta now, thank you for telling me!

i think. for spot being in love is the biggest and most unexpected thing in the world to him he didn't expect it he doesn't quite believe it's real he can't get over it. and for race it's another tuesday. and this means that race says I love you first because it's not hard for him and race says it more often because it's not hard for him and race says it more casually because it's not hard for him but spot says it and feels it from his head to his toes and there are not three words in the English language that mean more to him than "I love you" to say. or to hear.

“Davey,” Jack whispers – and David collapses at his feet with a low whine. Jack moves without thinking, dragging his fingers through thick fur, damp and matted and blood-soaked, staining himself as he tries to reach the little ball of iron stuck inside David’s chest.
“Don’t,” is what David tries to say, but it comes out warped, a guttural sound torn from his chest. He paws at the pine-carpeted floor, trying to get some weight under him, to pull himself up the way he’s supposed to, but Jack sinks his fingers into the meat of Davey’s shoulder and pushes, keeping him down.
“Let me.”
David tries to protest, to twist the chords in his throat into words that fit in neat little boxes. You don’t treat lame dogs. You don’t try to save what’s untrained. He learned his lesson – he can suffer for it. Best not to waste the effort. Better to find something new and fresh and try harder to keep it unsullied this time. To keep it under control.
“Too much,” is all he can manage. The syllables are all chewed up and frayed at the edges, but it’s all that he can force his soft mouth to say.
Jack wrinkles his nose like he might tear David’s throat out right there. He presses his mouth to Davey’s muzzle and rubs his face against the downy fur, letting the blood kiss his skin.
“No,” he rumbles, low and deep, as if he could press the sound into Davey’s own chest. “You’re not.”

you know what really gets to me. is how jack loosens up david’s morals. like how david starts off as a staunch pacifist because of the Optics and strategy of it all, but then later he kicks a cop in the face and threatens him with a swing + tries to punch jack when he scabs. and both instances occur specifically because he cares so deeply about jack. But also there's this tidbit from the 91 script
Tumblr media
it's like. up until now, david's interactions with jack have largely consisted of david being openly skeptical/confrontational whenever he detects any kind of bullshit. and while he immediately clocks that all this stuff about santa fe is a lie, for the first time, he decides to let it go. Because there's a kernel of authenticity to the statement, though the authenticity doesn’t lie in factual truth, it’s in how jack desperately "wants it to be true". because. this is david's first time seeing the soft underbelly to jack. because david IS charmed by jack despite not really trusting him

[in Pulitzer’s office during the children’s crusade]
Pulitzer: ENOUGH! Give up this strike now, and we’ll burn your “union” to the ground.
Jack: Uhhh, don’t you mean “or”?
Pulitzer: …Fine. Give up the strike now, OR we’ll burn your “union” to the ground.
Davey: Well, which is it? Because that seems like a pretty crucial conjunction.
