Hello friends! I’m probably preaching to the choir here, but I’d like to again ask y’all not to tag “is the cat video cute” style blogs on my videos and photos. I’m always happy to provide context for my content and chat about the quality of my pet care, but I would rather not involve a third party. It’s easy for videos to be misconstrued out of context, and in the past I’ve had folks jumping to conclusions regarding my pet care due to the input of similar blogs. I’m sure everyone involved in these blogs are well meaning, but in the past I’ve found that without the context from knowing the cats or discussing with the owner sometimes incorrect info can be shared and then people can act a little… white knight-y.

The villains of the prequels were expertly crafted to be reflections of Vader in the original trilogy. This is especially seen through parallels between Sidious’s apprentices. For example, Maul is a catboy but Vader is a dogboy. This demonstrates that

i feel like i'm an incredibly annoying person to have over at a house because if there is a pet in the house i will be paying way too much attention to them every time they are in the same room as me. i am unable to be normal about animals existing in the same space as me.

if you have a pet and i know about it, there will be at least 20% of my brain dedicated to thinking about how theres an animal on the property the entire time I am there.

if a cat walks in, i WILL look over at it for a few seconds and not pay any attention to a single thing anyone is saying. if a dog walks in, i WILL be trying to figure out if i can make friends with it in a way that doesn't make everyone roll their eyes at me.

i understand not liking cats. there are just some animals that aren't our favorites and that aren't easy to get along with. what i don't understand is the absolute revolt that people who don't like cats feel towards them. it baffles me, the way people will literally shutter at the mention of cats just because they don't like them.

i myself am not a dog person, but i don't hate dogs or dislike them enough to treat them the way people who don't like cats treat cats. my initial reaction wouldn't be to kick, shove, run over, or shoot one. i wouldn't let loose a dog on the street just because i didn't like it. it's an animal, and it's meant to be cared for. if you don't like an animal and you see it while you're out, you leave it alone. if it's in your possession for whatever reason, you take care of it until you find someone who will care and love for it.

the world gave me reasons to potentially hate dogs, but i didn't take the bait. if you can't handle owning a cat, that's perfectly fine, and if you don’t like them, that's fine too. however, treating them/their existence like they were made to haunt/disturb you is not okay. all animals are just trying to get through life like the rest of us. the things we don't like about them, especially in regards to domesticated animals who often depend on us, are not enough to treat them like trash.

Cat people in the comments: SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR FUCKING CATS!!!! And if she's your only cat, why was she allowed to go outside, huh?? Don't you know there's CARS and WILDLIFE outside??? Op clearly just wants their cat to die. You don't deserve to have any pets since you clearly don't care about them, and I hope someone takes her away from you and gives her a better life, you heartless monster.

it's easy to say "do your research before getting a pet" but like what does that mean in practice? and frankly it's not unreasonable that someone would go to a pet store that sells bearded dragons, and buy a kit that the staff claim contains everything you need for a bearded dragon, and take that at face value. "do your research" but if you can't trust people (pet store staff + the companies selling those kits) to give you even remotely solid information, what do you do? how is the average person supposed to know what sources to trust?

and then skip forward a few months and you call a vet clinic because your bearded dragon is lethargic and not eating and can't use its legs because these companies are allowed to sell you a "complete" kit that doesn't include uvb lighting for a desert reptile. and you had no idea! you trusted what you thought was a reliable source!

I don't have a conclusion for this it just breaks my heart as a vet receptionist every time I have to gently break the news to someone that their pet is sick because they were lied to about its basic needs

in retrospect it’s rather amusing how my mom has a track record of getting annoyed with pets once they get old and start having needs and health problems and just either getting rid of them or refusing to put in ‘all that work’ . and yet she’s the one constantly accusing ME of being irresponsible with my animals. the other day i was lamenting how big my crayfish is getting and how much room his tank takes up in my very tiny and cramped room, and her honest to god suggestion was “you could move him into a bucket full of water and just wait for him to die so you can get rid of the tank” and was shocked when i got upset at her for suggesting such a thing. maam you are actually deranged

Can't stand it when professionals have objectively bad takes but they're legitmately professionals and you're just some guy. You recognize this, you acknowledge it, you even appreciate it in the appropriate context, but it's so fucking infuriating. Even if the professional is humble and concedes to your point, which is usually not going to happen to even the humble in general unless it's a correction directly being witnessed, you still have their diehard fans demonizing you because you proved their idol wrong (even if you weren't pompous or obnoxious about it, just the idea that their beloved expert was human and made an error drives them mad). So I white-knuckle it and say nothing and then log into Tumblr and blurt it out in the tags.

I used to be fucking, so obsessed with snakes man, my whole life, just Obsessed with them

then I got a pet snake and she escaped while I was mid breakdown and I had nightmares about her starving to death for weeks

then I got another snake and my friend let him escape while I was sleeping

and I had another snake for years but I was a shit owner bc I was so depressed about losing my babies and I've surrendered her to a snake rescue

so snakes make me sad now :(

cool so one of our neighbors is now flying a plain black flag 😀 this house used to fly two separate trump flags. and also this is the same neighbor whose dogs attacked me and Bambi, and then he yelled at me and followed me home bc I told him to get his dogs lol
