What do you think makes them perfect for one another?
oh I love getting this question <3 I’ve done some spiraling on the topic already here (from forever ago) and here, but I’m always up to elaborate some more
they’re quite literally the grumpy x sunshine trope. he’s not grouchy, per se, but he smiles the most around aphrodite. he adores how kind and energetic she is, and as someone who creates beautiful things from nothing, he’s well-versed in seeing past just looks, which is something she wishes more people could do when it comes to her.
he doesn’t try to own her — he’s too busy doing his forge shit — and she likes the freedom but will make room in her schedule to see him, not because feels obliged to or because she feels bad for his homely self, but because she thinks he’s very interesting and wants to peel back the many layers that make up him. She’s also smug that only she’s allowed to hang out with him without asking permission to be in his forge
aphrodite has a talking buddy! she talks endlessly and he listens while he does his work <3 the other gods would actually try to talk to her (probably trying to impress her) and that would annoy her because she just wants to ramble
They’re just very good company for one another. He likes her chatter, she likes his steady seriousness. She loves watching/feeling the love for his craft be shown before her eyes; he likes hearing her comments about what he could do to make the objects prettier
it’s not her job to make him feel better about himself, but she likes doing it anyways. as the goddess of beauty, she can see the stuff in everyone and everything, and it makes her happy to see him slowly gain confidence when she points out his best qualities
He’s so unshakable/laidback that he’s one of the few gods who can stand her outbursts/short temper.
people keep saying that he was too ugly for her to find attractive. bullshit. a) she’s not that shallow and b) you’re telling me aph wouldn’t get all hot and bothered from watching her husband — shirtless, sweating, upper body muscles prominent — as he pounds and shapes metal into shape? As he builds house from nothing or works on a car? Nah. The man works with machines and tools. Other than what Ares does, of course, you don’t get more manly than that.
And he for sure needs some pretty aesthetic in his life that isn’t his handiwork. He loves how she decorated their home im France because design and beauty is part of her craft
They take care of each other: he’ll make sure her car is in good condition, make her anything he can that she needs, give her a shoulder to cry on….she’ll buy him clothes and skincare stuff, and keep in the loop about what’s going on with the other gods….

Okay, Im onto ep 6 and I think I kinda figured out why I suddenly got so bored bc like. yea this is really boring in general rn but I wasnt that suffering this much when I started and I think its bc they dont have those cutscenes in the beginning anymore. I feel like those gave me a lil something to look forward to and make this a bit less tedilus but now theyre not there anymore :( also I really wanna see Zane again and it pains me that he doesnt show up until like ep 40 smth
Okay, I think I'll probably put a small timeskip here and do like the equivalent of a montage of Aphmau repairing her house n interacting w/ the villagers some more
So yea, Aphmaus moving into her new house, thats a good opportunity for some Aph/Emmalyn bonding and interactions w/ the other villagers. Also, depending on how this episode goes, I might want either Garroth or Zenix to help out too, but I'll wait to see how this ep goes first

Maybe Aphmau built a lil chicken enclosure thingy during that aforementioned timeskip and some other stuff like more wooden paths n stuff
Anyway, Aphmau finishes moving in, maybe we can have some villagers like her friends n stuff wanting to celebrate that a little or smth but shes just like "nah sry guys, Im tired from all this moving" and takes a nap
Vischers death scene is fine ig?? I'll probably tweak it a lil bc it honestly just seems kinda comical the way it is now. (Ive read some of the comments and one of them even mentions that they laughed at Vischers death here, but that it was pretty impactful in the remake, so maybe I'll watch that for some ideas) I'll probably add a close up or too or maybe write that scene from a perspective that focuses more on him
Aphmau in the OG doesnt wake up from that explosion at the docks even though she lives pretty close by?? Idk, I feel like theres not really a point to that and I think having her wake up all confused and afraid, maybe going out to check on the village first before then going to the docks would be better? If we completely take out that scene of Vischers death and just see Aphmau sleep and then get woken up by this loud explosion noise, it could even make for some good tension
Also, theres this weirdo outside of Aphmaus house?? I'll move it back to a bit later but keep it the same otherwise bc I dont remember wth hes doin there
At the docks, I think we should linger a bit more on the destruction and just generally have Aphmau be a bit more upset but otherwise everything is the same, Zenix n Paul are still there even though its pretty late in the night/early in the morning (maybe add a detail abt Paul looking tired)
I'm keeping the Convo between Zenix n Aphmau as well as the one between Paul n Aphmau the same, but I'm switching their places so she approaches Paul first bc hes the civilian, he just lost his best friend and would probably have the bigger reaction and just be someone that Aphmau would be a bit more worried about as opposed to the guard who should be more used to stuff like this
So yea, shes still kinda distraught but goes over to Garroth like Zenix told her to, their convo is also the same as the OG
Aphmau accepts and tries to make plans for building a boat and for potentially rebuilding the docks while she goes around town. Shes thinking about how exactly she'll approach this bc building a boat is kinda difficult on your own but shes like not supposed to tell anyone else that this happened while walking around the village and sees Brendon, so she goes over to talk to him
The convo plays out like in the OG with her telling him about the docks but ommiting Vishers death. Also, it takes place outside somewhere, not just. in his house that Aphmau just waltzted into bc she can
She feels relieved that she has at least one person to help her know and decides that thats probably enough, maybe have her walk around and consider telling it to other people before she comes to that conclusion though
After that, she gets home and just keeps trying to think up plans on how to fix things, its p difficult when someone died and shes supposed to build a boat so she can bring his bff and his dead corpse home but yknow, she manages. somehow. Alternatively, she could have a sort of quiet reflective and/or mourning moment instead, Im not fully sure in which direction I wanna go in when it comes to her character
OKAY im done w/ this one I hope I can work up to at least ep 10 today

1) My first impression of them: Not going to lie, I thought… Mate, get some longer trousers, I don’t wanna see your socks. 2) What I think of them now: Baby boy, baby. Bloody Mary:
1) My first impression of them: I thought to myself; good lord are they really allowing this in game? They’re almost giving us the Full Monty here. Considering they censored Hawthorne Ball and Skewer’s basic artwork, I’m very surprised that Mary got away scot free, even Tempura’s tiddies ended up censored, for God’s sake.
2) What I think of them now: Gosh I love them a lot, and I wish an event for them would come back so I can get their ascended skin.3) One thing I like about them: I do love the ‘demon’ imagery around them, like the whole deal with Pretzel chasing them down, trying to keep them under lock and key like they’re some feral animal. Assuming all of this is my own fault since I haven’t read their backstory, but I like that kinda dynamic. 4) One thing I dislike about them: God I love their ascended skin but… Mary please, get your foot outta my face, nothing personal, it’s just that I find feet really, really gross. 5) Do I prefer their Chinese, English, or Japanese voice acting?: Haven’t got an English VA yet and I haven’t heard their Chinese, so the Japanese will have to do. When the writer inside you can’t take it anymore...
Okay so here’s the thing. I absolutely adore the writing in the Aphmau channel scripts. The stories are involving and fun. The plots are believable and interesting. And most of all, the characters are real and fleshed out. They have hopes, dreams, fears, likes, dislikes, etc. But there is one character in the series that has been making me absolutely cringe as a writer: Ein.
Oh my god Ein has been bothering me so much. The most frustrating thing is that he had so much potential and still continues to have potential, but every episode that he’s in makes him more and more of a supervillain melodrama archetype. All we need is the booing crowd and to have him wring his hands together as he formulates his evil plots.
When he was first introduced as the villain in the Emerald Secret series (if this is a spoiler, come on. That was ages ago.), I was so stoked. He’s a creepy, obsessive kid from years ago who can’t let go of being popular when he was in high school. I am all over that. That’s character development! And the fact that his jealousy has been steeping inside him for at LEAST 4 or 5 years? So intense! There were so many directions to go with him! And on top of that, we were going to get to see Ein’s slow descent into a jealous madman throughout the high school series! Right?
Wrong! Instead, Ein immediately started being a weenie in the PDH series. A racist, racist weenie. Again, I’m thinking: Okay cool! Whatever. Bit of a character shift, but I mean I kinda saw this coming after he started talking smack about Kai before an Alpha was chosen. Fine. But then it started getting worse. He has lackeys now. Full on, straight up lackeys. And ever since the Emerald Secret reveal, he brings up how Aph’s humanity makes her imperfect, etc. Which is fine, but he does it constantly which is a HUGE character shift for him from previous episodes of PDH. There is no transition. No slowly helping us wade into these deep waters. Nah. Just throw the audience into the deep end. They’ll be fine.
Ein presented such an awesome challenge as a character. People had grown to love him and were absolutely gutted when he was the villain in Emerald Secret. (At least I know I was.) I was so stoked to see how this sweet little werewolf boy had become encompassed by his obsession with high school popularity and teenager problems. How he’d never grown up, basically. He was left behind and never caught up with the rest of the group. I was ready to see his evil be made sympathetic and interesting.
But instead, we find out that Ein has always been a racist weenie and has been using Aph to gain power (which is a HUGE cop out and a MAJOR case of flinching to avoid having to write something difficult). He’s never been a sweet little cinnamon roll just wanting to be loved and accepted. We, as the audience, were tricked into thinking that he was sweet. As an audience member, I felt a little betrayed. And as a writer, I continue to feel frustrated because Ein could have been a really interesting and sympathetic villain worthy of analysis and discussion. Instead, he’s just another villain stereotype.

A. If you could rec a piece of music to accompany one of your fics, what would you pick? Why?
Uh. Well I know that Dance For Me has a song. I had the idea and the title and began writing before I needed a song and went looking. This is what I found:

E. Who’s your favorite main character you’ve written?
Arthur. Or APH England. He’s the easiest for me to write for some reason.
But I like my OC from my novel, Benrial. He’s pretty easy to write because, after thinking about it, he’s a more confident, more fun and just better version of me.
F. What stories are you planning for the future?
Well. I’m in the middle of writing my Christmas one-shots. I’ve counted and there’s 15. (I’m supposed to start posting them on Wednesday cause it’s twelve days till Christmas then - unless I counted wrong which is highly likely. Urgh, numbers.)
Then I’m gonna do this thing cause I wanna write more Voltron stuff but I have too many things started and not enough time, dammit!
After that, it’s Hunk’s birthday and I’m gonna do one-shot birthday things for all the paladins! ... Even if Shiro technically has no birthday... They’ll all be different birthdays from different universes. For instance, Hunk’s will be from a soulmate AU. Actually, I’ll just tell you all of them’s since I’m excited: Shiro’s will be canonverse because canon Shiro needs a break. Pidge’s will be a chat AU and... I’m not sure how I’ll do in that cause I’ve not done one like that before that I can recall... Lance’s birthday is in a fantasy AU where it’s his destiny (along with Hunk and Pidge and Keith) to save the kingdom but there’s a misunderstanding and angsty hurt and the Galra catch him and, well. Keith gets his birthday in a zombie apocalypse because he had to go and be born in the month of Halloween. (I would’ve written it this year but, urgh, time. There is not enough of it.)
They’ll be written between the continuation of the Sticky series because I have a lot of ideas for that AU so. I should point out that I mean a continuation from the second chapter of Glue and not the first one.
And in between this, I need to finish of the chapter I started of Shadow House 2, try writing more of my novel and I really wanna write more of Lance’s Fury.
So, uh, does anyone want to pay me to write instead of going to work so I have time for all this?
G. Where do you think you grew the most this year?
Probably my belly.

I think I’m... pretty much the same? I think I might be getting better at mimicking other’s styles, like I apparently did with Thames’ Child. I’m not sure that’s a good thing.
Then again, I did write over 50,000 words of my novel and I never finished it so I reckon I did better than my first attempt which... eh. *shrugs*

Hm. I quite liked Neighbour. And Glue. Which, uh, says a lot about me... Or says that I’m kinda dissatisfied with all the half-finished stories I apparently have lurking around. *sighs*

Uh... Hm. Heh, the one I can actually remember is the jokes they tell in the second version of Glue where it’s ‘not as if a vampire will lure me away’ or something to that affect.
Also! Any of the jokes in Thames’ Child because I managed to evoke the source material for the crossover quite well, I think. :3
K. Who have you killed this year? Why did they have to die?

But, lemme see...
Wait, I can’t say without spoiling things! But, well, I killed Arthur and Gilbert at points because of the universe and the idea.
But, in Shadow House, wow. So many die. It’s meant to be a horror story - kinda like a horror movie where people are dying in horrible ways
N. Anything you were planning to write that never got written?
I have a document solely with Hetalia fanfic ideas which is 84 pages long. To be fair, some of them have been written but I’ve kept them in the document because I had vague ideas of what could happen next (these are usually one-shots).
I also have a separate document for every other fandom idea and that’s 14 pages long, including notes for one I’ve started. Or for one-shots I wanted to continue and haven’t gotten around to it.
P. What are your pet peeves in other people’s work?
When they don’t make it clear who’s talking.
By that, I mean, they have the person speaking named in the next paragraph for some reason. Or they close their speech but all they needed to do was take a new paragraph.
I get confused easily - don’t do that to me. :(

"What about it?" Arthur asked distractedly as his heart sank. He was more focussed on his previous comment. There were only two ways to punish a god: strip them of their powers and lock them away for a millennia or to kill them outright and replace them with another. Arthur would not mind dying but the idea of being unable to see Gil fulfilling his life while he was locked away would be a torture he didn't want to endure.
"Have you not noticed?" Alfred asked, a smile beginning to grow. "Look."
Without thinking, Arthur obeyed, looking down. His eyes widened when he realised what he was looking at: his toga was now white. And, now that he thought about it, he had once worn black, had he not? He stared down at himself, confused.
From Lance’s Fury:
Just as they reached the adjoining corridors, there was movement and Lance jerked away as something came towards him. Whatever it was, it was fast and probably deadly. He grasped for something to defend himself with but he didn't carry a knife and there wasn't a vast source of water around. Before he could even think of taking the water from the air around them, another movement cut in front of him and two blades clashed just a hand's breadth from his heart.
Blinking once, his eyes focussed and he found Keith wielding a knife against Pidge's dagger. Keith and Pidge struggled for a moment before they broke away. Lance staggered back, still in shock, his heart hammering in his chest. He had almost been killed... By Keith.
"Keith-" Pidge began but the other academ had focussed his attention on what he seemingly deemed the greater threat and launched himself at her, his windcrafting ruffling her hair as he used his increased speed to fight her. Thankfully, Pidge was using her metalcrafting and was just as fast, keeping up with every swing.
"Oh man, oh man, oh man," Hunk was mumbling beside Lance. "What do we do?"
From Glue:
Unable to think of an intellectual response to that, Arthur merely said, "You're ridiculous."
"And you're actually smiling – it's pretty."
Arthur sucked in a breath, startled by the comment. His heart did an odd thing where it fluttered and clenched and seemed to swell all at once. It was way too soon for him to entertain thoughts for anyone but Kiku, in his opinion – even if he had been dumped. And Kiku clearly had no intentions of returning to him. So he was on his own and free to do as he liked. Shaking his head to clear away his thoughts, Arthur turned to Alfred and held out his hand.
"I've not actually introduced myself. I'm Arthur Ki-"
He was interrupted with a loud laugh. "Dude, you totally don't need to be so formal. But, Arthur, huh? It's a cool name. Suits you."
Again, Arthur couldn't stop his lips from twitching up into a smile. "Your foam moustache suits you, too."
R. If you had to rewrite one of your stories from scratch, which one would it be? What would you do to it?
This lot. I’d make it more realistic. Like, do actual research into the porn industry? Or just make their reactions and stuff more... I dunno. I mean, it’s okay just now but I’m just gonna continue it rather than go over it.
Also, all my earlier stories on ff.net - I would scrub all the attempts at accents. Urgh. (Though, some of the stories, the accents are supposed to be exaggerated versions which would disguise them. Or something.)
